FOXNews.com On The Scene

Firefighter Heroes

Not sure if you guys saw our live reports at 12 & 1pm, but we had the chance to interview the firefighters who save a neighborhood.

The street is Rim of the World Road, in Running Springs California. The crew was from San Bernardino Fire: Ryan Beckers- firefighter paramedic, Mike Murphy- firefighter engineer and Captain Greg Griffin had just returned to a nearby firehouse when a man who lives in this neighborhood ran in. He frantically warned that a burning ember had caught a neighbors home on fire. By the time the crew rushed on scene, that home was fully engulfed in fire, but they saved all the ones around it. Some already had smoldering roofs.

Here’s a behind the scenes video as we prepared for our live shot.

i have a friend who has lived in southern cal for 40 years, and i asked him about the fires.he said these areas have burned many times before, and it was no big deal, until they started building in these areas.he said a complete moron could have predicted this event.

Excellent coverage-

My question for the day- Where nature takes its beating with a fire, the time for shrubs, trees, and so on, takes how long to grow? I have seen scorched areas where it looks like it just died completely.

God bless the firefighters/volunteers and all the people who have lost their homes. Adam you do such a great job reporting from everyone. Fox has the best reporters. Be careful and thanks for the great job your doing!

Please let everyone know (the firefighters, the home owners, the children, the pets & live stock, and God’s creatures in the woods) we are thinking about them and praying for them daily, hourly, and sometimes minutely in Aiken, South Carolina.

Adam – You really have been the one to watch and read during this unfolding story. Glad to see that you were protecting your eyes and lungs today. God only knows what is in that air that might come back to haunt you years later.

Are you getting adequate rest, or will you get a break when this dies down a little?

That interview was on The Record tonight so I was able to see it- And for once, you were completely covered-

I guess we will be smelling some of the smoke here in Phoenix in a day or too-

I hope the criminals get caught and when they do they get life in prison and nothing less. Lets hope we can count on the justice system to punish them for life.

There was a doctor on last night on one of the networks and he talked about the smoke inhalation- he showed which mask to use- there was one which had like a gizmo attached to the end of the mask which prevents all particles from being inhaled-

His concern is for these floating particles which will linger in the air- I hope everyone is wearing a mask-

I just want to thank you, Adam, for your great coverage (including photos & videos) on the fires in Running Springs, our home for more than 22 years. We still have family and friends there, and it is beyond heartbreaking to see the destruction that has been done. Every time we hear the word ‘Running Springs’ on the news, we rush over to see the latest developments. Something that would be really helpful to us is if you could name the streets where you are reporting from. Many times I think I know where you are, but am wrong. (After all, one tree looks like another, right?).
Thank you again, and please relay our heartfelt “Thank you’s” to the brave firefighers you see. They are the BEST. God bless you all.

Adam, thank you for checking on our property in Fredalba. I know your plate is full and I truly am grateful that you are out there helping people and doing your part to help us get through this time. We have many happy memories of our time in Fredalba. It is a special place. We are thankful to have each other and we will look forward to rebuilding. God Bless You and your crew.
Kelley.
