Picture of the Day
by Adam Housley
With all the breaking news, I haven’t had the opportunity to update the picture of the day quiz. I’ll let this one go for a couple of days and give you the answer on Tuesday. So … where did I take this and when? You know the routine; I wanna hear your stories.

Mr. Gadget King Adam
You’re still posting in the “Twilight Zone” – we changed the clocks this morning………you are in the future…….woooo
If you’re gonna have more toys than Greta, learn how to use them & set your time!
Fair is fair…………
I don’t know where or when this was taken but I bet it can be bought real cheap.
Old & worn…abandoned upstairs,…….overhead door sign looks Chinese and yet the paintings seem Indian perhaps Bombay??? Could there be an existing business downstairs? A pet store selling birds?? Good fortunes/luck?? …….. cafe??…….something happy!! I think the front half of the building may be long gone and this is what the center was, but is now only the downstairs is used?? Tell US!!!!! Tuesday????….R U serious?!!
somewhere random lol
…. those birds looks native american tpyish…..soo id say on an indian reserve
Adam, where is our hint? You know ‘our’ rules, these hard ones require hints. Hope you used a telephoto lens, looks dangerous at the top. Reminds me of one of those old western towns at the top and someone just picked it up and built under it. ) With all the rusty tin on the side, I’d say Latin America, ’bout as close as I can get.
I think I appraised that place ! J/K
I’ve got it gadget handy Adam man!!!!!!!!! Universal Studio’s……….a set on the lot!! How’s that???? Right?………..right? Well you could toss out dose clues you know you!! Yes ‘em!
HINT: THIS IS NOT FROM A STORY I HAVE COVERED. It tho, is in an area I have covered before.
adam
1st guess…Haight-Ashbury (I’m probably an entire continent off on this)
The hint alone is a riddle! I had to read it 3x’s, slowly hahaha
Oh Adam thanks, that hint really narrows it down to anywhere in the world, almost.
I am thinking the top is Chinese, and the bottom is more American Indian painting. Not from a story? Well there is time to ruminate, any guesses anyone?
I’m guessing it’s in Venezuela or Mexico.
Arizona? that sure looks like the Arizona sky-
Thailand?
It sure would help if I could figure out what the graffiti or the writing says there on the left- on the first floor-
Somewhere by Tucson? Since you have been in AZ covering the drug issues through the borders? and Tucson would be close to the border-
I got it. I got it. A place in Hollywood. Adam, I don’t have a clue. Love your blog. Glad Greta send us to you. You both are great.
I am watching you right now on Fox and Friends. You are up early this morning.
Natalie sure did appraise that house and I bought it. This is a beach house on the Black Sea . At the time of appraisal it had lovely wood siding, a deck and a large picture window on the bottom floor. This is what it looked like after we went to replace the wood siding with more resilient vinyl.
Kathy in Texas is partly right…It appears that this beach house was used by the CIA, (Chinese Indian Armenians) during their brief uprising against the Soviets in 1990, and was abandoned in 1991 after the Soviet Union fell apart.
Second guess, is somewhere along the US/MEX border.
John you smart thing!!! I could actually redo this puppy to a western saloon if only the Chinese American Indians would give me a chance. Perhaps my illness has affected my ability to think, I am clueless even after two clues.
I am going to guess Tijuana Mexico.
dang, others are right, could be anywhere.
but…butterflies, birds, roses, = love, freedom, peace.
and the red door is supposed to be invivting (i think i’ll pass! *L*)
ghetto somewhere adam? (sorry if im not politically correct, just a mid west girl!!)
youth center?
its some sort of a “center”…meeting place?
Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
Back at it!!………… Cali-fornia’s Lk Shasta -or- the Sacramento waterway……….. Then again the Sacramento joining the San Fran Bay………. Taking another look I’d say the orange door is painted, so this could be a location set for filming……….. Brain fatigue is setting in becoming guessless……….
the original Delta King Hotel
does this have anything to do with whales in 1985?
I do not read Chinese (if in fact the characters are Chinese), but a quick search of the type of characters in the picture leads me to believe it was a public gathering place, like a restaurant/saloon, hotel or even a church.
And I think Adam drew those birds on there after sampling some of that fine wine from his vineyard.
how about somewhere in SF? maybe along the wharf area?
i don’t care where it is really…. its a terrific pic.
I swear it had wood siding at the time of the appraisal !!!!!!!!
Adam, is this YOUR summer house? *BG*
Ok since all the clues were a BIG help….
“In Isleton, in the Sacramento River Delta, resting on a strong foundation there stands a building—a beacon leaning over the river. Called the Bing Kong Tong, it is an edifice that stands as a memorial to the prominent presence of the early Chinese.”
??? am I right adam?
” Bing Kong Tong “?…………….Change a few letters, delete one here or there and …………..nahhhh, I ain’t touching that one.
Indus River in Pakistan this looks like a house of prayer
Oh wow, I’ve been absent a vew days, will take forever to catch up. My father-in-law passed away.
John, you are funny!!!
Oh those were the days! *LOL*
Adam, was I wrong? I didnt see a posted answer.

A fraternity house- or sorority?
Patty you were so right! How did you find that site? great going
BINGO!!!!!!!!!
*taking bow* thank you thank you
*L*
I cant take all the credit…. I used John’s delta guess and added chinese to the search…and found it. I just got lucky is all.
Do i get a bottle of wine now Adam? *batting big brown eyes*
Tongs in this instance refer to members of particular Chinese fraternal societies whose primary interests from about 1870 to the 1920s were in territorial control of gambling, prostitution and opium.
Give me some credit- I said fraternity or sorority—– tee hee-
(I knew this but I just couldn’t remember).
