Prosecutor Wants Kathleen Savio Exhumed

stacy.jpgWill County State’s Attorney James Glasgow’s investigation into the 2004 death of Kathleen Savio, Drew Peterson’s third wife takes a new turn this hour. His office is speaking right now to the Savio family about exhuming Kathleen’s body. The Savio family has already said publicly they support the exhumation of Kathleen’s remains for further review.

The prosecutor is not obligated to get the family’s permission to do this but his office tells me he believes this is the right thing to do. What can be learned by looking at Kathleen Savio’s remains three years later? A second autopsy might not be possible but her remains could be thoroughly re-examined. The prosecutor is also not bound by the determination of the jury that heard the inquest and ruled her death an accidental drowning.

I’m also being told for the first time today that the Illinois State Police visited the previous State’s Attorney Jeff Tomczak within days of Savio’s death in 2004 “seeking guidance”. I’ve also learned that Tomczak’s file on the case is slim…there is very little paperwork available on that meeting with police or whatever investigation previous State’s Attorney Jeff Tomczak conducted. Why is that? One source suggests Drew Peterson may have had “connections” that limited the scope but I see no concrete proof of that.

My sense is for the Savio family the current State’s Attorney James Glasgow is giving the case the review it should have had initially.

Stacy Peterson’s disappearance is still being classified a “missing persons” case. I believe it is significant that the two Peterson cars taken by police a week ago have not been released. It’s been reported too that when police returned to the Peterson home executing a second search warrant they found what they were looking for.

I’ve asked a neighbor of Stacy how the children are doing. They are staying with Drew Peterson’s son Steve who is a police officer and is married. His wife works with the FBI. This neighbor believes the kids may have been interviewed by authorities. This would not be uncommon but Illinois police are not commenting on this part of their investigation.

Stacy’s neighbor tells me she believes Drew has found safe haven with former Bolingbrook police officer Mike Robinson and that Robinson has provided Drew she says with new cell phone and car. I’ve called Drew at home and the answering machine has an outgoing message from Stacy.

Here is the new poster being put up in the search for Stacy. A salesman for HP came to the search location and donated 20,000 pieces of paper, a printer and ink so that volunteers could better get the word out.

Thanks for this update. Can’t you hear the grinding of the rusty cogs being forced to get up to speed -real quick-like? You have to feel so sad for the kids. And the outgoing message on the home phone is just haunting. But at least finally these poor families are going to know some real facts.

This is great news! I firmly feel without the continued coverage from FOX, particularly from Greta’s show (who, by the way, sent me here), this would have never happened. I just wish the families of other missing relatives and friends had the opportunity to have FOX dig into their cases! A great job to all!

So sad about the wife on the answering machine…

Would have thought Drew has the money to fund flyers!! What a creep! What has he done to aid in the search?????

Hi Jamie:

Followed the link from Greta’s blog to yours.

This man seems to be a monster! Too much coincidence for me, and it will be interesting to see what happens with the new autopsy on the unfortunate wife # 3.

I hope they find Stacey, but I’m not holding out hope. This horrible man probably was very very careful about where he put her body, because I have no doubt that he killed her.

Jamie,

The Will County State’s Attorneys office was under the leadership of Jeff Tomczak and made a big blunder by send the father of (Riley Fox she was Killed in 2004)Riley fox to jail after he was bullied into making a confession. The current Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow reviewed the case .Kevin Fox got out of jail because of the DNA test that his family had to pay for. Just ask Kevin foxes attorneys Kathleen T. Zellner, Paul DeLuca, and Douglas H. Johnson !

To this day nobody else has been charged with the death of Riley Fox.

I just came over from Greta’s blog. Thanks for this update. Sounds sort of fishy about the 3rd wife’s death to me. Hope they can determine for certain the cause if they do exhume her.

Maybe they ought to bring Jeff Tomaczak infront of a Grand Jury to Answer Questions and do an investigation on him for his lack of concern.

In the Riley Fox case they shoud ask him why he tried to bully Kevin Fox into making a confession.

Great work!

It’s very said that Stacy had to disappear in order to try to find out the truth about the death of Kathleen Savio. I just don’t understand how and why, nobody did anything after her death?

Oh, and Greta said to check out your blog Jamie, and you really did a very good job in your update. Thanks

Jamie, I so hope that they exhume the body. I believe he killed the third and fourth Mrs. Peterson’s. It appears that way to me. Greta has a link on her blog to you so here I am. Greta is great don’t you think? By the way friend, I never knew until Greta had it on her blog that you were an attorney and you went to the University of Miami…Cool. I lived close to Tallahassee for many years and love Fla St….I like Miami also just a big fan of the Seminoles. I am so happy to know of your blog and am bookmarking it. Keep up the good work…I know you and Greta will find out the truth.

At last, it looks like things are moving a bit, and some resolution might be forthcoming in the case of Kathleen. I just wish that Stacy would be found, and there would be some answers there. That message on the home phone is, as Jan said, haunting.
The poster is interesting. I keep looking at her eyes when pictures are shown of her. What must that poor girl have gone through.
By the way, Greta sent me.

Jamie, I’m distressed that those children are with “strangers” and not members of either of the “mothers” families.
Greta sent me! and she was correct. We can get a lot of inside stuff from your blog! Thanks!

Using a little common sense, in my opinion, there was something very corrupt in IL State’s Attorney J. Tomczak’s department. There really is no other explanation that makes any sense.

P.S. Greta sent me.

Jamie,

Can you please share with us your personal view of DP when you toured the house.
Thanks for all your doing to stay on top of this investigation.

PS. Good Friend you have in Greta.

Hi Jamie.. didn’t even know you had a blog. Thanks to Greta.. now I do!

Thanks for the update.

Kudos to HP, TES, the volunteers and to everyone who has donated food, drinks, blankets, their time.. etc.

Sure hope they find something so that this can be resolved for the families. How sad that I heard that her sister said.. she could deal with knowing she is no longer alive but she can’t deal with not being able to say goodbye to her.

How sad!

Jamie, love your new look on your blog. Greta sent me. 5 just can not figure this guy out. Tomczak sounds kind of fishy and suspicious to me. Hope someone can get to the bottom of this, it’s too sad.

I was reading at another site and just learned the kids are back with Drew. I’m shocked at the video that was supposedly aired on Chicago’s Channel 5 last night.

What’s going on with that?

Keep up the great coverage - thanks!

jamie,
thanks for the update Jaime…keep up the good work on this case as well as the stebic case and that other slime husband who has said he knows what Drew is going through…I bet he does…..

Jamie! Did I hear right? I am listening via Fox News Website to the News Conference regarding Drew Peterson et al. When asked why Kathleen’s sons were not interviewed at the time of her death, the answer was because they were only 8 and 10 and it could have been upsetting (can’t remember actual word used) for the boys because of their youth.

Say what???? So the BETTER choice was to leave them living with a potential KILLER????

Unreal!

A family member of wife #3 said that Kathleen Savio had a $1,000,000.00 life insurance policy when she died. Prior to her death, she had changed the beneficiary from her husband Drew to her children. Is this why her family did not do more to learn the truth about her death? Sounds fishy to me. And if the diagnosis is changed from accidental to murder, what happens to the life insurance policy???

Natalie - prior to her death Kathy was divorced - which is a good reason to change your beneficiary as she did. The children are minors - a trustee should have been named to handle the life insurance proceeds for the children. Kathy’s death being ruled an accident - was beneficial to Drew Peterson, not Kathy’s family. Apparently, Stacy was able to *adopt* the boys and it is possible that as parents, Drew & Stacy could have received child support payments from the policy proceeds.

As far as Kathy’s family - they were powerless to fight the inquest ruling. There was a cop friend of Drews on the jury who influenced the other jurors to rule Kathy’s death an accident. The jury was not informed on a finding of *undetermined*.

I can only hope that all involved with this especially with Kathy are held accountable. It is not uncommon for the brotherhood to cover for one another. As an officer you uphold the law not live above the law. As an ex of an officer it is amazing how much they get away with.

Comment by Michelle

My brother use to date Kathy, before she met that drew. Kathy was a kind and caring person. I hope we find out the truth in kathy’s case and the disapperance of Stacy.

Wow. I am interested in your comment above which says, the state police may have found what they were looking for during the search of the Peterson home.

This whole case is a tragedy from beginning to end. I hope the Bollingbrook police cooperate with the investigation and refrain from covering up their complete and total incompetence.
