FOXNews.com On The Scene

THIS PICTURE

With all the crazy travel, I haven’t posted a picture of the day, so here is one!

To give you an idea why I have been hit or miss the last few days…I have been checking the site and posting when I get to seconds, but reading all the posts has been a challenge. Tuesday, we were out for hours on the drug raid. I was up early on Wednesday for lives all day and into the night and was up very early Thursday to fly to LA, then I rushed home and dropped one bag while packing another. Then, after a quick dinner, I was back in a taxi and back to the airport. Flew to Oakland and then grabbed a taxi to San Francisco. To bed late again, and then up early to be at the federal courthouse.

My shift didn’t start until late morning, but I had to be there early to see the arraignment. Then after Fox Report I was on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) because the Bay Bridge was swamped with Friday commuters. Got back to the airport, then back late into L.A. Saturday was an attempt to catch up, but I had to be at Pepperdine because our big boss Roger Ailes was the graduation speaker at my alma mater and I really wanted to be there — plus I was invited. Then back to LA to change again for the LA office party……you get the idea. It has been a crazy last week.

SO…as I try and catch up, here’s something for you to chew on. Who are these people, what are they doing, why and where? OH….and yesterday I was on the phone with Greta trying to help her find a new camera!

Adam posted the answer- and I am so upset- I had found an article about air mobility but I thought nope- and guess what-

I have to go sleep for the next four days- I am clinically depressed! (that is what people do when they are depressed, right?)

Where is Patty? This is all her fault- if she had been here, between you two, I would have posted the correct answer- now I am looking for that darn article-

Comment by Jen S

Susan,
Patty might be without power with the ice storm. Or out looking for these guys on the hill.
Let’s keep a light on for her to help her out.

Adam has been with John Candy and Steve Martin- Planes, trains, and automobiles-

He is like dragging- and trying to keep up with this blog- should I feel sorry? Maybe-

I think, Adam, when he gets older and is tired of running around everywhere doing the best as he has been doing, should think about teaching- Would he not make a great teacher?

What do you think? :?:

Greta–Why do the people you interview have to stand outside in the cold????

Comment by Greta Van Susteren
December 10th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
i have no idea..i hate the cold so i should not do it to others

I think Greta answers the first few to let people know she is there, but after about 600 later, she probably does not have the time to answer each and all so she is gracious enough to leave a few so her viewers don’t think they are ignored as Adam does to us!!!! ;)

What is with that? I have posted at least 999,000 posts here and Adam has maybe replied eight times!

Jen:

I am not sure if Adam takes a holiday break so he can spend his holiday time celebrating the holiday with his holiday family and holiday friends with the holiday tree with the holiday presents eating holiday food on this particular holiday day.

Do you think he will have a holiday drink? But not enough to have a holiday hangover?

Comment by Jen S

Susan–I think it was shortly after 10 when I was watching and sent it last night, where she announces the show is starting and to leave comments.

Oh yes the 23rd. I will mark the calendar, but will obviously remember since you won’t be here.
Wonder if Adam takes a Holiday break??

Comment by Susan- Phx- AZ

Jen-

I was also acknowledged- One of my comments is actually on one of her sites- It has to do with me giving a background of a restaurant she went to in Aruba- my fame and glory for the moment-

Until December 23rd, when I go to the Cardinals game and bring my posters reading- Housley in the House? watch for me- will remind you of course on the 22nd! tee-hee :) (I have good seats)

Where and on what thread did Greta respond on? I want to go check it out as I linger here?

Susan,
I know exactly what you mean. BUT, last night I sent Greta a note during her show and she answered it. Ha. It always bugged me that she has people standing out in the cold when she talks to them…I think it was shortly after 10 when I was watching and sent it.
I read some over there and comment on Rare occasion any more.

Pep grad covers attacks from Kuwait
Six years removed from Pepperdine, Adam Housley provides battlefield news for FOX News Channel.
By Jen Clay
Staff Writer
Only miles from combat, Pepperdine alumnus Adam Housley continues to report from Kuwait City as a correspondent for Fox News Channel.

A 1997 Pepperdine graduate with degrees in political science and telecommunications, Housley has been in the Middle East since mid-January.

Before arriving in the Kuwaiti capital, Housley spent time on the front lines with troops preparing for ground invasion and on the destroyer that eventually fired the first tomahawk missile. Although Fox News did offer Housley a Middle East-based position, his acceptance was voluntary.

“I decided to take the missile watch in Kuwait City, which has been very interesting and dangerous, but not nearly as dangerous as the men and women who are traveling with the troops,” Housley said in an e-mail interview.

Reporting live an average of eight times a day and contributing up to five radio reports, Housley ultimately decides on segment topics but still works as a team with his four-member crew. Previous reports have included an on-scene report from a Kuwaiti shopping mall damaged from the debris of an exploding Iraqi missile as well as updates on the troublesome Middle-Eastern weather. The FNC Kuwait City office houses an approximate staff of 30 and is equipped with everything from satellite and video phones to “a simple scarf to keep the sand and dust out of your face,” Housley said.

Housley also appreciates and understands his unique opportunity.

“I am missing my family and friends, but I’m still witnessing history at this point,” he said.

He hopes to return to the United States soon, but no date is currently confirmed.

Housley keeps in daily contact with friends and family via e-mail. One of those friends is Professor of Political Science Dr. Dan Caldwell who had Housley in three political science courses. While he confirmed Housley’s budding interest in broadcast journalism as an undergraduate, Caldwell pointed to Housley’s love for politics as a possible key to his future.

“I believe that sometime in the future he’d like to run for political office,” Caldwell said.

Other professors remember Housley fondly. Professor of Journalism Dr. Mike Jordan had Housley as a student in his Mass Communication Law class.

“Adam was an excellent student,” he said.

While at Pepperdine, Housley pitched for the 1992 National-Champion Waves baseball team, was elected Homecoming King, served as Student Government Association President and wrote for the Graphic. Housley took advantage of the opportunities an education at Pepperdine could afford him.

“I took a wide variety of classes from the most difficult courses I could find,” he said. “Dr. Caldwell among others helped me tremendously in my studies of international relations.”

Ironically, Housley was a student at Pepperdine during the onset of Operation Desert Storm and rallied in favor of the war at on-campus debates and protests in Westwood.

“I had a suitemate in dorm two who missed the first two weeks of school because of the invasion,” Housley said. “He lived in Kuwait and was snuck out by an Iraqi friend. His stories of the Iraqi atrocities were a rallying point for many at Pepperdine.”

After graduation, Housley competed in the minor leagues and briefly pursued a career in professional baseball. He began his professional broadcasting career in Napa, Calif. at KVON-KVYN radio, where he developed and produced newscasts. After working as a live reporter for KCPM-TV (NBC) in Chico, Calif. from 1997-1998, Housley served as a reporter at KTXL-TV (Fox) in Sacramento from 1999-2001. He also served as lead reporter for the independent, Santa-Rosa-based KFTY-TV from 1998-2000 and won a 2001 regional Emmy for his work with KFTY-TV.

Housley joined Fox News in 2001 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent. For FNC he has covered both the Winona Ryder and Robert Blake investigations and traveled to Pakistan, Israel and Palestine. He received a 2001 Regional Associated Press Reporting Award and a regional RTDNA Reporting Award.

Housley offers this advice to current Pepperdine students.

“No matter what anyone says to you, if you work hard, believe in yourself, remain level headed, trust in God and enjoy family and friends … you will succeed,” he said. “Believe it or not, while I had tremendous support at Pepperdine and I look on my time there very fondly, I had people (there) who said I wouldn’t make it in television or in baseball. I didn’t listen.”

Thailand Southeast Asia tsunami tragedy
. Housley also reported internationally during Operations Iraqi Freedom from Kuwait, Iraq, Bahrain and the Persian Gulf and has spent time covering the war on terror from Pakistan, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

He has covered Venezuela- Mexico- and of course California-

Tent right- has equipment in it hence the bag makes a bump in the covering where it hangs out and its largely big so the other bump near the bottom is just another bump from the bag and notice how its connected to the tree i dont think army people connect themselves to the stuff around them they just put themselves around them to look just like their surroundings …

and the left is just someone chilling out and relaxing.

Maybe this is just Adam and a friend of his just on a random trip in the mountains …… maybe maybe not….

DULZURA, Calif. – Immigrant smugglers once avoided the rugged, chaparral-covered canyons east of San Diego for easier crossing points – but now the Otay Mountains are one of the busiest areas along California’s border with Mexico. …..

One recent evening, two of the agents broke thick sweats as they sped downhill over granite boulders and branches burned during California’s 2003 wildfires.

i have an outside of the box idea:

This is a few people of a FOX crew camping out in the mountains of california while covering a wild fire. Hence the area looks burned suggesting a fire has swept through the area. And notice the green back pack hanging out if it was a special opts training mission they wouldnt have stuff hanging out of their hiding spot. So i think its the fox crew sleeping to avoid predators or what not !

WEST OF CALEXICO
There are dozens of miles of open border west of Calexico, just south of California Highway 98. And there are several dirt roads heading south along this stretch of black top that appear to head towards the border. In reality many of these road become dead ends, as they only serve as pick up points to load illegals heading north into the U.S. (see story above). Once these roads get near the border they turn into dirt paths used by the coyotes and Mexicans heading north. There are a few roads that travel through rough territory that do connect to Mexico Highway 2-D, about 20 miles west of Mexicali

Comment by Susan- Phx- AZ

Adam-

JACUMBA
For years the borders at Jacumba were porous into Mexico and going from the U.S. to the Mexican village of Jacume was standard procedure for hundreds of Mexicans every month. In the late 1990’s the U.S. government cracked down on this pass-through border, and a more significant fence was erected. Despite these new efforts, it is still possible to walk or drive from the U.S. to Baja east or west of Jacumba, via California Highway 94. It is approximately six miles from the border to Mexico Highway 2 and Mexico Toll Highway 2-D.
