Ken had a neighbor across from him who was a skinhead- and at this apartment complex, there were elderly people who lived there and skinhead’s presence was ominous- he would dress militia style and get these young kids to have these meetings in his apartment- He would carry ammunition up the steps and the elderly were so intimidated by him.

He had this evil look in his eyes- and I plain just hated him- And he knew it-

One night, Ken’s birthday, we were sitting on his patio and the moon looked beautiful- Skinhead and his youngsters were on his patio too- Ken went to get his binoculars so we could look at the moon- And when we were checking out the moon, Skinhead flipped us off and told us to quit spying on him- I told him we were looking at the moon and he flipped me off again- So in my best potty mouth- I said to him- what the f*** IS YOUR PROBLEM? He yelled back at me and told me he was going to break my legs next time I went up Ken’s stairs-

I then asked him if he was threatening me- and he said yes- so I said to him I was calling the cops- and I did- I went downstairs to meet the cops and skinhead was already there- when the cops showed up Skinhead ran to them- and he said he had put me under citizen’s arrest because I ASSAULTED him- so I was arrested- By then everyone on that side of the apartment complex had come outside to see what was going on-

I got notice from the court I was being charged for assault-

I went to court- all dressed up- I went before the judge and he asked me how do I plea- I told him- We are guilty of disturbing the peace- but assault- this never happened-

The judge said take it to trial so he could hear the facts- Bench trial-

I recounted the events of the evening and at the end- NOT GUILTY- Skinhead was so angry- but the best is yet to come- my neighbors wrote a petition to have him evicted because they said if I could spend the night in jail because I stood up to him, they were going to see what could be done about him being evicted- Not only did I win but the SOB had to move!!!!!

I just got an email from my daughter, in Australia, who barely emails- – she just completed her thesis and promised me she was going to send it to me-

I think I just wanted to be cute- Actually at one time, I wanted to be a vet- I love any animal- and I wanted to save all of them as I grew up in countries where animals were treated poorly-

I enjoy knowing someone is alive and well— but- here is more- I went to court in the summer to interpret for my neighbors because I live in an area where there are many Hispanics- So we headed off to Justice Court here- the other party did not have an interpreter either- so both parties stipulated I could interpret for them- Judge Delaney was the judge for the dispute- which had to do with the sales of a lemon car- caveat emptor- To make a long story short– The judge offered me a job- I was interviewed right then and there- I explained my situation- Ken can’t be left alone- so they put me on a call basis- after I submitted my application on line- with Judge Delaney’s recommendation- I am independently contracted out- on call- (so I work very few hours- and I only work for Judge D- and he has been on vacation now for a month- he will be back after the holidays)

I had to take a class to refreshen my spanish- and in January I am taking another class at Phoenix College- legal terminology in Spanish- the advanced class following the first one I took-

Ken’s mom will watch him for me while I take the class. He is a serious diabetic- brittle- and I am the only one in the family who knows anything about diabetes (maybe because I learned? so anyone can too-) So in between his blood check, I am taking the class.

Even at my age, I love going to school- my happiest times are in school- I met some wonderful teachers who actually became friends to me- So happy I am but fulfilled, I am not!

Follow your dreams and don’t let anyone get into your way- I made that mistake! Live and learn

You do know how to make a grown woman cry- I hope whatever you had is gone forever- I love your idea of your children writing down what they want to be so they can read it later-

I dropped out of college when I was college age- My original thought was to get into journalism- I went to the University of Americas- Cholula, Puebla- make a long story short- I went back to college when I turned 36- I didn’t have the money for law school or time- so I wanted to get in as a paralegal- So I took AJS classes and LAS classes because my emphasis was criminal law-

At the hospital, I was going to school- and very focused on this- I was the administrative assistant at the hospital and also worked as the interpreter- Great job- and boy did we have fun! I changed the atmosphere a bit- Nursing is something I was not interested in- I do not do well in science classes- I did not inherit my father’s genes as he was a geologist and almost everyone on his side of his family are and were doctors- I just inherited the blue eyes-

And Max- I truly believe in this- good things happen to good people- so you are going to have a very blessed life!

I’d planned a life for myself here in England. I thought because i’ve been ill i wouldn’t be able to live my dreams, so set out a ‘reasonable’ goal for myself. If you’ve wondered why i’ve been on so late at night, and seem to be on all day it’s because being ill meant i had to stop going to school a little over 4 years ago. I don’t like talking about it, but since a thursday 6th the pain i’d had for over 10 years just vanished over night, so it’s getting better

I had a dream a few years ago that changed how i saw the future. It was of an angel, and told me i could still be anything i wanted, so having a lot of time by myself i tried to remember what i’d originally wanted in life. I’d wanted to be a civil engineer and live in America when i was just knee high. And since i started trying tofollow those dreams everything to help me get there just falls into place.
When i have kids i’ll have them write their dreams down before they go to school so that if they ever forget they can open a letter to themselves and remember what they’d wanted to be

thanks for the kind comments- Ken is 52 and his incident happened in 2000- so he is not elderly-
I could write a very intense article about neglect and the elderly in nursing homes- I filed a grievance against one of the nurses at one nursing home and she was suspended- (and then fired)– I could go on with internally what I saw but externally, as families dumping their “loved ones” and forgetting them- I don’t think families should rely on the nursing homes for everything- it is their responsibility to take time out of their lives, regardless how busy they are, and go visit their alleged loved one- I am talking about people living within driving distance-

And bless you Jen for doing what you do- I run errands for Ken’s mom too and I have been teaching her the basics on her computer- I will help anyone who needs it- this is why I love the adaptive gym at GCC-

I am doing some major cleaning today- I had to go get Benadryl for my one old dog- she is on her last lap- I can tell- and I am not ready to release her to my father- but the day will come- she has a cough right now and she has runny eyes so I called the vet- he told me to try Benadryl-

Thank you for sharing this and wow! You truly have a Servant’s Heart. Just because you are getting paid don’t let anyone say otherwise. To sacrifice your plans and go down this new road is a true sign of it. It sounds like there are many challenges to your day but I believe you are being taken care of from above. Bad days teach us new beginnings. You sound happy and sound like you know that this is your purpose for now.
My in-laws are in their 90’s and we are 4.5 hours away from them. They still live independently but when they need help my sister in law generally takes care of it since she lives right there. But I feel guilty that we can’t do more.
As far as family not being there and being selfish I am familiar with that. Many elderly have that problem. I do volunteer work for the Senior Service in my area. Since I work at home, I am free to schedule what I want when I want. I do grocery shopping and transportation to doctors appointments for them, which is hard for many that have a 9-5, be it their kids or other volunteers. But yes, I have seen family members neglect them totally; very sad and selfish. I like doing this so they don’t have to resort to a nursing home, and they often can’t afford private transportation. It helps them to continue to live independently.
The snow has stopped- but it’s raining and 32 degrees. My hubby wants to go out to eat for his B-day. No way!! We bought steaks last night, have fine wine, I baked a cake and we have a warm safe home. I will talk him out of it.

Susan Phx…. it’s been a very busy week! I had a lot of new patients, very emotional!

Jen–

Ken has the mind of a very young person- post diabetic coma- long story- lots of horror stories about nursing homes- At the time this happened, I found him in a coma- he was my neighbor and a very good friend- I use to walk his dog and went over to his apartment because his vehicle was there and he was supposed to be at work- I had the key to his apartment and I went in and found him in a coma- 911- he was in a coma for 12 weeks- I was working at a hospital and my goal at the time was to get into a law firm as a legal assistant so I was taking all these classes after graduating from the Criminal Justice program- so I wanted to get into a law firm and work on the criminal side of law- but things changed- because Ken would have died in the nursing home- so I took all these classes at John C. Lincoln offered there on diabetes and nursing- I had to learn how to administer insulin- and blah and blah- When Ken came out of his coma, I taught him how to walk, talk, read, and eat again- His family asked me if I would care for him at home because of all the horror stories which had to do with Ken and nursing homes- so I changed course in my life and through an agency here for Independent Living, I am now employed by them- so I get paid by them and I have to update my certification- (Unfortunately his family are not too involved- but then that is their mistake- it use to make me angry- now I just feel sad for them- I love his mom- she is 90 and it because of her I have not flipped out with his selfish family- This is about him and not about them- Their visits to the nursing home were so infrequent- I had 18 hour days- work- school, and to the nursing home- I would get home at 11:00 and be up at 5:30 a.m.)

I supplement my income by side jobs which I can do at home- but Ken is alive- He has his own room- a home- he has made considerable progress but his memory is shot- he can’t remember from one minute to the next- but then I can’t either- He was a very good friend of mine at the time this happened and I don’t let my friends go down- and don’t tell me I am a nice person- this is a selfish act- But what if this had been me?

As soon as I get my spending money, (thanks dad) I am going to buy Earl and Mark a case- I went back on the winery site and read the descriptions- I am also going to get a hat cap-

As far as the vino I got the variety pack special. I am no connoisseur of the stuff nor a big drinker so that’s why I went that way. Actually wine is the only alcohol I ever drink when I do. This will last for some time. We’ve only opened one so far-very good. You will have to read the description of each to figure out what you would like I guess. It will make a nice gift for your brother.
Today is hubbies birthday-49. He is out bow hunting this morning-he better get home soon, snow is still falling! The 20th is our 27th anniversary.

The Snow started about 8:30 EST. Huge flakes, so it’s covering the ground quickly. It’s beautiful, wish you were here to enjoy with me.

You were in Nicaragua in April 2006 to interview Daniel Ortega. You also covered some stories about missiles and counter drug ops. So if that’s where you took this you were either waiting for a missile launch or some action against drug runners. If i had to choose just one of those two options i’d go for the former.

Now this is from before i started watching fox (shame on me for waiting so long) so i don’t know if it’s right or not, but it was the closest thing i could find.

The cat is away, so we mice like to play.
I believe Americans have a fascination with people who live in strange lands and have accents.
But I find all you have to do is travel around the states and you can find all kinds of accents too.

I am originally born in Ohio, but moved to Kentucky 25 years ago and that is where my son was born. His aunt says he talks with an accent, and that is only a state away. Other than saying “Y’all” I think he talks perfectly normal.

So speaking of him, he’s your age, he’s 19 in college. What to get him for Christmas? He won’t ever ask for anything! BTW since you like Wyoming, I have a couple of pictures you might like to see, that I sent to Susan. He and my hubby go out there frequently.

Susan, Here is my story; I promised to fill you in on why I was ROFLMBO.

When I saw the picture of the day it reminded me immediately of a picture my husband and son took this summer on a trip to Lake Erie. I live in KY, so this is about 4 hours away up in Ohio. Although this is the Sunrise, it bares a resemblance of Adams Sunset. The lake is very large.

Before I posted my Lake Erie answer, I searched Adam and Lake Erie for grins and giggles. BUT much to my surprise I found Adam with the USS Lake Erie!! How funny is that?

So I posted Lake Erie kind of as bait, just to see what would happen. I wanted Max and Avi to have the thrill of the hunt. I guess it was my motherly instinct. So Max finally found it and it sure looked like a good answer!
The jokes on me..? It’s incorrect, and my bait probably went right past Max, he did his research I think and found it on his own.

So that’s my story about Lake Erie and here is the picture. (And my adorable son with the catch of the day.) So the hunt continues….

My mom was Polish- Punkiewicz- and I have relatives in Luthiania I have never met but Diana every year at Xmas sends me a picture of her and the whole family-

I take care of a person who has disabilities- and he is Polish- Kuklinski- his mother, 90, is still alive and she speaks Polish- Both of my friend’s parents came from Poland- on my side, my mother was Polish, and my dad was Swedish-

I don’t talk that much like people here. My dad’s Polish so i have always sounded a bit Polish as well, but my accent isn’t very heavy, no one seems to ever know where i am from just by my accent.

I hope it is the shark one, a few months before i started watching fox.

LOS ANGELES — One hundred and fifty miles off the coast of Baja California, Mexico, lies Shark Central.

Isla Guadalupe has 22 miles of blue island waters swarming with great white sharks — and tourist boats.

“It’s pretty much the only place in the world where you can take a trip and pretty much know that you’re going to see sharks,” says Martin Graf, president of Graf Diving in San Diego.

So Max you talk like you are from the UK- How so cool- I was in a private school where the principal was from England and all the students were too- I was one of the few americans- talk about having to read literature- Mr. Faulkner emphasized this in this small school- The Edron Academy- And I met a guy from the UK too- and he became my boyfriend- He sure was tall and cute! It was an honest mistake regarding Newt’s book though, he’s already released another one, so ‘Rediscovering God in America’ wasn’t even his new book then! I think he has another coming out soon.
You gotta be careful with Newt, if you blink you might miss his latest book! So don’t feel bad, i keep forgetting too, in the time it’s taken me to write this, Newt has written 4 more books!

I love Redeye, but i’m not sure that’s the show Adam is guesting on. The Redeye to new york would have meant a plane that took off before sunrise. It’s called the redeye after how your eyes will look after getting up so early

I don’t have a clue about the picture. Maybe Panama City Beach , Fl. , Az. maybe. I don’t know. I know Greta will appreciate your help with her gadgets. She was on “The View” this morning and she was a classy lady.

I just can not stand “Red Eye” for some reason. I have watched but it is not something that I like. I will watch since you will be a guess.

The world if covered by one body of water, the different oceans are kind of like the states, and the seas are like counties. They are just the names of smaller areas. Like a county is part of a state, seas are parts of oceans.

The photo was taken facing west as it is a sunset (unless that was a ruse). So if it was taken in the US it could be anywhere on the west coast facing the Pacific; in Florida looking at the Gulf of Mexico; or over looking one of the great lakes.
