Susan, that’s a Rufous with the red throat and rusty-colored back. Obnoxious little buggers, as you saw when he lost his patience with having to share the feeder with others. The racket gets to be quite contentious and people walking up and down the hill will stop at the head of the driveway to watch all the birds. -Rod-

Why thank you! Yeah, I love my hummers and feed many dozens of them, maybe hundreds. There’s no way to really tell. I hadn’t thought of freezing my nectar ahead of time. I just keep it in a jug in the reefer and it gets used up the same day.

Adam,

I only put my videos on youtube. The views vary from just a few to a few thousand, depending on the subject. I don’t really get into the networking aspect of youtube so my videos disseminate pretty slowly. As I gain subscribers it does get better though. Thanks! -Rod-

Thank you for the hummingbird video!!!!! You have no idea! I am in KY and so they are gone now…but I make it through the winter knowing they will return.
I have three feeders and it was a full time job. Then I got smart and made a gallon of nectar at a time and freeze it in 16 oz bottles.

Thanks, Patty. Those are two feeders out of 5 and yeah, I keep pretty busy keeping them full. I’l currently going through 10 pounds of sugar every 12-14 days. That will almost double in the Spring when the Blackchinned migrate back. If you have any photos, a link would be great!

I do know…and that’s what’s baffling. I’ve had a few dogs, known many, but I think their eyes see one thing, their senses another, and being confused, at the very least they growl at me. Some bite. I guess they are like people in that regard. -Rod-

Anyone hear about O’Reilly in New Hampshire trying to get the camera shot of Obama? One of the body guards tried to block Bill’s camera shot. Bill got a little ticked and gently moved the body guard out of the way. Obama eventually talked with Bill for about 30 seconds. Bill said over the phone that he will air what happened on the Factor on Monday.

I’ll check those out. Servals are pretty neat though I’ve only seen pics of them. I’d be nice to meet one up close.

I’ve got 3 Siamese myself…I’m something of a bigot in that regard…As for dogs, they don’t seem to like me. I’ve been bit a 1/2 dozen times or so though I do get along with most of them. In ‘99 my face was surgically…altered…and I think that maybe dogs just don’t know what to make of it. I do wish they’d refrain from biting me for it though -Rod-

cat as in Leo– but animal lover- as in general– I do dogs right now–but I have had cats- and I became a cat person as I learned how cool they are when I did have them as pets which is because I owned them because I would find them– one of them was a tortoise– she was so cool- and a calico- another cool one-

Speaking of cats– Corey has not been to visit– Rod- he showed us his servals a few threads ago- when we were on the Tatiana kick– there are some cool links in past threads- if you go back on the tiger threads- look for Roman and his links- and see if Corey and his serval link is there too–

If you are looking for some cool photography— I have to really go- or otherwise I would find these for you- go back into the tiger threads– Roman’s and Coreys are like in the middle– Adam used Roman’s pictures of Tatiana, so before the use of Roman’s pictures, you might find Roman’s links to his photography- and Corey’s, I am not sure–
