OJ at the Clark County Detention Center

We’ve got out crew on the scene in Las Vegas, which includes long time Las Vegas attorney and Fox News legal analyst, Bob Massi.

All are there as the spin begins from the defense team. They have already begun to attack the character of the bail bondsman, Miguel Pereira from ‘You ring, we spring’ bail bonds.

Meantime, O.J. Simpson returned to jail on Friday night after being escorted from his Florida home, he’ll stay there until Wednesday when judge Jackie Glass hears allegations that he violated terms of his bail in an armed robbery case last September.

Brand new video of OJ at Airport:

O.J. Simpson is now at the Clark County Detention Center and police said he will be kept isolated from the other 3,300 inmates until a court hearing Wednesday, when Clark County District Attorney David Roger plans to request that Simpson’s bail be revoked and he be kept in jail until trial.

The prosecutor alleges that in a November voice message, Simpson told Pereira to contact co-defendant Clarence “C.J.” Stewart and express frustration about testimony given at the hearing where Simpson, Stewart and a third man were ordered to stand trial.”I just want, want C.J. to know that … I’m tired of this (expletive),” Simpson is quoted as saying in a transcript that was included in Roger’s motion to revoke bail, filed Friday. “Fed up with (expletive) changing what they told me. All right?”

Simpson had been instructed by Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joe M. Bonaventure in September not to have any contact with anyone involved in the case – not even by “carrier pigeon.”Simpson’s lawyer denied the allegations.”O.J. did not try to persuade anybody to contact a witness,” Yale Galanter told The Associated Press.

Simpson was freed Sept. 19 on $125,000 bail following his arrest on allegations he and several friends burst into a Las Vegas hotel room and robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint. His bond was revoked Friday by his bail bond company, said Officer Ramon Denby, a Las Vegas police spokesman.

Simpson has maintained that he was retrieving items that belonged to him. He and the two other men are scheduled to stand trial April 7.

The prosecutor alleges that Simpson left the voice message with Pereira for Stewart on Nov. 16, two days after Bonaventure ruled that Simpson, Stewart and Charles Ehrlich should stand trial on 12 charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

Roger’s three-page motion alleges Simpson “committed new crimes,” without providing details or elaboration. Dan Kulin, a spokesman for Roger, declined to say whether new charges would be filed against Simpson.Galanter said he believed the “new crimes” referred to allegations of witness tampering. Galanter called Pereira a member of Simpson’s defense team, and said he was “totally miffed” by the effort to use a tape of a permissible phone call to try to revoke Simpson’s bail.”

He was clearly voicing frustration to a member of the defense team who had been providing security, transportation and investigation services,” he said.Galanter said Simpson stayed at Pereira’s home during the preliminary hearing, but said he thought the bondsman apparently changed sides.”

He is clearly now a witness for the prosecution,” Galanter said of Pereira. He said he intended to question the bondsman under oath Wednesday regarding the telephone message and how the tape recording came to be turned over to prosecutors.Pereira did not respond to messages seeking comment.

A bail bondsman at his business, You Ring We Spring bail bonds in North Las Vegas, declined immediate comment.Stewart’s lawyer, Jose Pallares, said Friday he had no knowledge that Simpson’s message ever got to Stewart.Simpson, Stewart and Ehrlich each pleaded not guilty Nov. 28 to kidnapping, armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, coercion and conspiracy charges.

A kidnapping conviction could bring a life sentence with the possibility of parole. An armed robbery conviction carries mandatory prison time.

Three other former co-defendants, Walter Alexander, Michael McClinton and Charles Cashmore, agreed to plea deals and testified against Simpson at the evidentiary hearing in Las Vegas.Simpson has maintained that no guns were displayed during the confrontation, that he never asked anyone to bring guns and that he did not know anyone had guns.

He has said he intended only to retrieve items that had been stolen from him by a former agent, including the suit he wore the day he was acquitted of murder in 1995 in the slayings of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

5:08 p.m.: I just got word that Judge Jackie Glass has said once O.J. arrives in Las Vegas, he will be taken to Clark County Detention Center to be re-booked.

3:30 p.m.: Fox New legal analyst Bob Massi just told me that OJ Simpson will go directly to jail and be held there on the allegation that he violated his bail until the hearing.

Al Beardsley is on Geraldo right now talking about the case. Is he allowed to do that?

Comment by Karen T

I will not vote for Judge Glass again. I voted her in the first time and I will make sure that everyone I know here is aware of the slap on the wrist that she gave O.J.

Well, I guess I won’t need to tell everyone I know because everyone here is a bit ticked at her right now. I wonder if it was worth it for her to slap him on the wrist and risk losing re-election.

Comment by Rod Venger

He’s out. I don’t know how long. I’ve been in the other room for the last 3 hours, but the article and photo are recent. Lemme read a bit…looks like it was about an hour ago…

“LAS VEGAS — O.J. Simpson again walked free from a Las Vegas jail late Wednesday, hours after a judge blistered him for “arrogance or ignorance” for breaking bail terms in a robbery case.

The former NFL star posted bond and was released from jail just after 11 p.m. He walked out by himself and quickly got into a white Mercedes and was driven away without comment to the dozen members of the news media on hand.”

I know– but you know he has a real one- stashed somewhere-

I love Glass– she is a Patriot– I just got to hear her on Shep’s– Did anyone seeShep’s smirk when he asked why the Judge was so hard on him? wowie– and when is OJ going to be able to go golfing again?

Arrogance or ignorance? :D :D :D — way to go!!! OJ and Britney should hook up– they have no respect for the law and defiance is their middle name—

And they are all scurrying around for $35,000.00? OJ– pull it out from under your mattress!!!

His rolex proved to be a FAKE – remember when Goldman took him to court to take it away from him

Comment by Susan- Phx- AZ

I wonder how many Rolex watches OJ has to pawn?

Comment by Jen S

I think OJ’s attorneys should have been reprimanded – they told Miguel “not to worry about it” when he told them what OJ did. Isn’t that like aiding an abetting?

Comment by Karen T

It might matter if the Goldmans are paying attention to that, I don’t know how that works, he’s supposed to be handing over money to them other than expenses to live on. I don’t think bail qualifies for expenses to live on. Or for the that matter the cost of attorney fees. I just don’t know how that works. The Goldmans were able to get a court order to obtain the (some) items that were involved in this so they could sell them and proifit from the sale. I don’t think that Galanter is going to put up the bail out of his own pocket w/o expecting to be paid back by O.J.

Comment by Jen S

Karen T-
His attorney made it sound as if he was going to pay for it.
Does that matter? Can anyone pay it for him? I think so. That’s what that was at the end of the hearing that was going on between him and the judge I believe.
Rod- can you confirm?

Comment by Karen T

So where is the money for his bail coming from? If he has money to put up for bail then doesn’t it go directly to the Goldmans?

Comment by Rod Venger

He looked like he was going to cry through most of it. Reality bites, huh? -Rod-

Comment by Jen S

Rod-
Thx for the explanation!
Arrogance or ignorance she said–I think she has been reading the blog- and she made reference to the carrier pigeons; too funny. OJ looked a little scared, but I think we could all read his mind….

Comment by Rod Venger

I don’t know the specifics, Karen. $125K, limited travel, no contact with witnesses, etc, possible revocation for a violation. -Rod-

Comment by Karen T

Does anyone know what the original terms of the bail were? I mean, what were the stated consequences if O.J. disobeyed the orders?

Comment by Rod Venger

Well, the bondsman puts up the premium…usually 10%…in cash, but the bondsman himself gets the full amount pledged usually in the form of car titles, home liens, whatever. If OJ runs, the bondsman will cash in the lien and pay the balance to the court. It’s done that way to avoid issues of the government actually holding one’s property. There’s ALWAYS issues of government not giving it back so quickly. So this is a layer that stands between the defendant and the government that protects both.

I liked it too…Are we McCain’s Abel? And it’s a valid question too. -Rod-

Comment by Jen S

Rod-
Yes- I like the Cain and Able connection!

I don’t understand all this bail stuff really–the defendant never really pays the $125,000 anyway and blah blah…why not? I have to read up on that; confusing.

Miguel should have sent OJ a bill. :|

Comment by Rod Venger

Jen, did you see my last two slogans? One was on McCain. I forget the other.
“Glass Has Class”

I noticed the bit with the bondsman too. Odd… -Rod-

Comment by Jen S

Galanter is a piece of work–he tell the judge we have a new bail bondsman, then after the judge asked later who it is—DUH…he doesn’t know yet.

Comment by Jen S

I like Judge Glass! :) She has class!

Comment by Rod Venger

The judge sounds like a kindergarten teacher. :)

Thanks for the update. Even if someone told Miguel that, it shouldn’t have an impact I don’t think, because he’s the one that got the voice message and then told the courts.
I have a love-hate;oops, dislike relationship with OJ, if you know what I mean.

From CNN’s site:

OJ Simpson is in jail again. The DA is saying Simpson violated terms of his bail by trying to relay a message to a co-defendant by way of his bail bondsman, Miguel Pereira. The defense says OJ never tried to relay a message to anyone.

I spoke with the bail bondsman last night. He told me that it was true Simpson had left a lengthy voice message on his cell phone two days after the preliminary hearing ended in November.

What is still so mysterious, though, is that Pereira told me an unknown person thereafter contacted him saying he had been monitoring Simpson’s phone calls. Pereira says the person told him that he knew Simpson had left the bail bondsman a voice message, violating the conditions of his bail.

Who is this unknown person listening to (if not recording) Simpson’s calls? That’s illegal activity in and of itself without a court order. Stay tuned for Wednesday’s hearing. We will carry it live and may get some answers. For OJ Simpson, it may mean the difference between his freedom or a jail cell.

Comment by Karen T

hahaha… I saw that too! After I read what I posted it didn’t come out right, then I was thinking that I would make myself look like a bigger idiot if I tried to fix it!

Comment by Jen S

Karen T-

What are you talking about? What is harsh??
I just saw Miguel on OTR- he said OJ likes to talk to himself; and gave a little smirk.
Gee I wonder why? LOL

Comment by Karen T

Wow, that was a little harsh. Wasn’t expecting to see that here.

Comment by Jen S

Hmmmm ok- I think I see a clue in one of these comments. ‘you are a man of your word’
Is that it?

Comment by Karen T

Miguel is doing a good job at keeping quiet about what went down and saying very little. It must be frustrating for him. 2 more days until the hearing.

Comment by Karen T

Jen S. … absolutely Miguel did the right thing. From his postings he seems to be adamant that we do not have the full story and obviously he can’t tell anyone on this blog or anywhere else. There’s no way that the prosecution will speak before the hearing publicly but Galanter will and he’ll spin this to make O.J. come out smelling like a rose instead of smelling like he just came off of a golf course.

Comment by Jen S

Adam says: “I think this is the right Miguel. But because I am south of the states, I can only confirm when I return.
Adam”

Well if it is, I think he should be Careful on saying anything anywhere…. Do not jeopardize any of this! I would have turned OJ in too.

My favorite cop posted— time for me to check out what he has written–

Amy– I know–

Comment by Karen T

Phil Cop, He should be able to get a fair trial, there’s only 2 things that can stop that, a Judge and a jury. The judge won’t let that happen in any state and he’s good at finding attorneys who are know how to pick jurors. It might just be a little too fair.

Comment by philosophical cop

As a law enforcement officer, I could not be happier to see him behind bars. The only concern I have is whether he can get a fair trial ANYWHERE on earth. I figure the jury will “take out” the murders on him…

Poetic, yes…however a fair trial is still the idea here, right?

SAD SACK!!!!….can’t prove it…UCK!!!!

Comment by Karen T

Susan, I was a casino dealer at the time of O.J.’s trial and worked swing shift. So I was able to watch the trial during the day time. Here, in Vegas, we have dealer rooms where we could relax (we had a lot of 20 minute breaks). Dealers were VHS taping the trial and bringing it into work, so that would be playing on my breaks also. It was a bit of an over kill.

I certainly wasn’t pleased with the judge, what was his name? Otto or something? That tiny little man with the glasses.

Comment by Karen T

Adam, thanks for the thoughts! I appreciate the gesture, really! I can picture you running after that kid too hahaha! From what I have learned about you, you don’t take anything from anybody! And yeah, if you didn’t catch him and he crashed, it would’ve been on your dad’s shoulders!

That’s the difference of being female vrs. a young strong guy. That wouldn’t have happened to you, they would have looked for a better opportunity, like me.

Comment by Karen T

Miguel, I think the majority is not bashing you. I would hope not anyway. You’re absolutely right, what went down will come out. I think that we tend to make judgements before we have all the facts. I’m guilty of that. At first I was questioning why you waited so long. Not even thinking that something could have been going on behind the scenes. That was stupid of me. The other thing that can affect you is the spin that Galanter will put out there. Unfortunately, people will hear that spin and take it as fact. Your good reputation should prevail at the end of all of this. Just keep in mind that there are plenty of people on your side and routing for you.

I am glad that you did what you did. That’s a facinating job that you have! You probably see all types and have lots of interesting stories.

Hang in there, Wednesday isn’t that far away.

what was so funny, at the beginning of the trial, Baden’s wife use to have her arm around Spectacle’s chair– as maybe to make him more personable– at the end of the trial, she was definitely apart from him– Spectacle must have said to her- get your arm away from me, you (expletive) before I shoot it off– :D

Comment by Karen T

O.J.’s trial I watching mostly all of it. But Spector’s just the begining. From the day she died to the time of the first trial then the new trial coming up, it makes me furious how much time elapsed. In O.J.’s they moved quickly to get the trial going, a tactical manuever probably to not give the prosection time to prepare fully.

Baden did testify at the Spectacle trial to say Spectacle could not have pulled the trigger– because of whatever he said– but his wife was sitting there– and he was never mentioned in discovery or on the list of witnesses- and there was after that a bunch of legal jumble with the judge–

But to be noted– after this trial was over with– the defense team said they were done with Spectacle– time for him to hire new ones– as I guess, Spectacle is an (expletive).

The Innocent Man is based on a true story which happened in Ada, Oklahoma– a girl was brutally murdered and an innocent man was convicted because of sloppy work– I am only like in the beginning of it- maybe one fourth through– but I am already feeling sad for the innocent man- Williamson– and I looked at the pictures and saw Barry Scheck– because as you well know, his DNA testimony with OJ on the defense team made an impact on the jury–

Anyhow– I recommend this book– when you have time– The Innocent Man– Grisham–
He is like Wambaugh– a cop turned writer- Grisham is a lawyer turned writer-

too many mistakes were made at OJ’s trial— way too many- and Mark Fuhrman did not help by lying– he could have said- yes I did use that (expletive) because at that time I felt this way– and just ate his crow– doesn’t matter– they made this trial more about perjury and mistakes made by the police than OJ whacking the crap out of two people slasher style– and don’t think OJ was not pissed off that night- Recital for his daughter- had to sit behind everyone- dinner- and he was not invited– he was pissed– no contol and being snubbed- and who was Nicole? If it weren’t for him, she would still be a waitress– I call what he did- Rage– my opinion, but I have been around rage– so the symptons are all the same– Hello Drew!

I like Chris Darden– he is still my favorite—

Comment by Karen T

It’s disheartening to hear that about Dr Baden in regard to the Spector trial, I hope it’s not true.

In regards to the Peterson case, what I am hoping is that because he has so much experience in being a criminal coronor, that what he was saying was an educated opinion. He saw the actual photos where we were not able to. Even Greta was saying that she’s a lawyer not a doctor and by looking at the photos you could obviously tell that it was a homicide.

I never heard of the book Innocent Man.?

Comment by Susan- Phx- AZ

Comment by Karen T

Jen S., it comes down to the jury I would think. If I remember correctly the DNA proved to be O.J.’s (with a small percentage of error). The question came down to was the DNA evidence planted or not. That jury chose to have the Possibility that it was planted and/or contaminated supercede the evidence itself. The defense team did an excellent job in selecting the jury. The prosecution fell right into their trap.

Comment by Karen T

That’s pretty cold… He must be. Adam gets the email posted and probably the IP address as well.

I will ante up– this is not Miguel— which of your five cards has the most BS- I have a run right now– can you beat that?

Miguel– post your site– I ring and you spring-

Comment by Jen S

Just one more thing about Baden then to clear it up..I think Peterson is guilty. Dr. Baden stated murder as a fact before he did the autopsy without any if ands or buts and he is the one that turned things into ‘tabloid’ as some people called it, about Greta’s investigative reporting.
I think that was jumping the gun especially when all they did was ridicule that towns every move on her death to begin with. And you can’t tell me no one has died in a bathtub, wet or dry. He said-people don’t die in bath tubs. He didn’t say only 0.0001%. As far as Spector goes, I don’t think I will ever get over that. :|

So speaking of DNA-we had DNA in OJ’s big trial, and what happened? You have a Barry Sheck convincing a jury it is hog wash (my word) in this case…so to use DNA as an argument on the death penalty issue we had here (finding it later to release someone) ……who do you believe? When is it not hog wash. ? BTW- I bought Innocent Man-I am trying to have an open mind and will read it.

PS–I don’t think that’s the Real Miguel on here.

The talking heads were on FOX News before and aired the O.J. segment. They were insistent that Miguel was not part of the investigative team and that O.J. attorney’s were just spinning this.

Comment by Karen T

Yeah that’s a bad feeling to come home and notice that something’s out of place. I would have been freaked too.

You’re right they are similar. O.J. said years ago that he watches court tv, studies the law, so I would guess that he knows the law and how it pertains to him. He knows before he does something if he could legally get away with it. At least that’s the way it’s been playing out over the past years. Drew Peterson was a cop for many years, so surely he would know how to cover up a crime and get away with it.

O.J. seems to have a lot of rage in him. Based on the phone calls made to 911 on several occasions and voice mails he’s left in the past. I think there’s another side to O.J. that he doesn’t let the public see. I’m still curiois about Charlie.

Maren taught me a lesson—

Our block is cool- but not the next one–

Comment by Karen T

I’m a little bitter because I do nothing but go to work and come home, take care of my daughter and an elderly sick parent. I live in a nice neighborhood, gated community condo complex. Last week I had my car broken into twice. That alone is frightening. I had to park my car in the lot of Marriott Hotel where they supposedly have better security (today I had a security alarm installed and can now park back in my designated spot). Last night when returning from the movies my daughter and I parked the car and walked back to our complex. We encountered a man that clearly wanted to do us harm, nobody else around. This man ultimately chased us, not wanting to give up what he wanted. We managed to run to an area where there were guys playing basketball. That guy was never located.

I don’t know how O.J. and other criminals keep getting away with committing crimes. As a law abiding citizen, it’s frustrating to watch.

Comment by Karen T

At least Migule turned him in. That may the first step in getting O.J. to wake up and realize that he’s not above the law. Good job Miguel! I especially enjoyed the part where Miguel got O.J. into the car, in Florida, to talk, then told him that he was going to the airport. O.J. had to get a family member to bring him clothes because he just got off the golf course.

I thought the same about all the hideous crimes we are hearing about lately too.
It’s kinda like the thought that hurricanes and floods are worse than they use to be.
Well the answer to that is that we are building more homes and so forth in their path. :?:

So I think it’s a combination of -more people-more temptations-more crime and more technology to bring the news right to us. I dunno…it is disturbing!

Comment by Amy in Sweden

No Roger, I don’t think it’s you. I too think there has been alot of really shocking crimes going on.

I usually read them, and then tell my husband the shocking ones, but the past few days, he had to stop me. He said he just can’t hear anymore of them.

Comment by Rod Venger

Good thing for Britney the paparazzi aren’t packing heat:

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. — Orange County sheriff’s deputies shot to death a man they said stole a patrol car and ran over a deputy’s foot.

A sheriff’s spokesman said two deputies were approaching a suspicious person about 7 p.m. Friday in Rossmoor when he jumped into a patrol car.

The man drove over a deputy’s foot before the deputies opened fire. The car hit a light pole and the man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

His identity wasn’t immediately released.

The deputy wasn’t seriously injured.

Comment by Rod Venger

Is it just me or does it seem like really shocking crimes have become much more prevalent over about the last 6 months? Or is the media just reporting more of it?

Maybe Adam has a sense of what might be going on there. -Rod-

That one is hard for me to comment on. Or rather I probably shouldn’t. Coming from a long life of severe childhood abuse myself, I don’t believe I can be very objective.

I agree with you guys on the Drew Peterson case. Sad to say, I think she is dead too. As for his 2nd wife. HELLLLLLOOOO! How does a woman drown in a tub with no water and blunt force trauma to her head? I think that was just a sweep under the rug kinda thing, for a fellow cop.

And I just have to laugh when I hear that OJ says that he was only there to retrieve his personal belongings, and had no knowledge of the guns. Typical for him. He is ALWAYS so sweet and innocent! Or so HE thinks!

Jean… they’re all good questions, right from the begining they all seem to be in bed with each other yet at the same time screwing each other. The credibility of the witnesses will be determined by the jury i guess. That part concerns me. I don’t know how it will play out in the trial. Will credibility issues supercede the evidence?

Jen S–

I saw Dr. Baden on the Spectacle trial– and I know his wife was the defense attorney for Spectacle– and I thought it to be odd too him being a witness to the defense team– and his wife, a defense attorney for Spectacle– two plus two– and it bothered me-

As for Drew Peterson’s third wife– I believed she was murdered too- so maybe because I had the same hunches as to Dr. Baden’s conclusions, I don’t think he was too way off there– I think Drew Peterson is a murderer– and he gives the good cops a bad name–

But I will take Doctor Baden any day over Cyril Whack–

Final comment here– OJ reminds me of the boy who cried wolf– I can’t believe anything from him–

and Terri– I have a potty mouth too– I am in shame! :(

Rod– we are going out to dinner– we are headed to Chili’s— have a good evening– and get over here and take care of my yard- :)

Jen– the same happened to me too earlier– I saw the heading was different on the post because the times were not noted– and this is why I saw Adam had added on–

nite all!
