Hugo and the Cartels
This is a picture of our live location.
Roughly one-third of the the world’s supply of cocaine now comes through Venezuela. That’s an estimated 300 tons that hits American, even European shores. The result, Venezuela is fast becoming the world’s drug superhighway and as long time journalist Eduardo Sepene tells me, it is tearing his country down.
“As a Venezuelan i been very worried. it’s a problem, a big, big problem for everybody.”According to many others we have spoke to about drugs flowing through this country, compounding the problem is yet again, Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, who has accused U.S. DEA agents of espionage.
Also, Venezuelan police officers tell us that corruption at Venezuela’s highest levels and within the countries security forces have allowed drug cartels free reign and that includes support from president Hugo Chavez, who needs the money since the oil machinery in this country is falling apart and cannot keep up with the demand. We tried for some time, but DEA agents wouldn’t talk on camera about the growing drug trade here in Venezuela, in fear they could be thrown out of the country at any time.
I have more on this story following the link and also some behind the scenes info I will add all day! However, some people involved in undercover operations concede, that commercial flights with falsified cargo papers and even oil tankers which appear to be legitimate, make it nearly impossible to stop the drug shipments northward. The planes and ships are packed and explain why it is nearly impossible to stop the flow. Former Venezuelan Ambassador to the UN, Milos Alcalay told me this, “If you break with the agents in the united states that deal against the narco-traffic, if you do not allow the Europeans to commit the actions against the narco-traffic, then you are not doing proper work.”Not only is the Venezuelan government not doing proper work to stop the cartels, but the routes now lead out of Colombia, through Venezuela and eventually onto the Europe and the united states. a troubling trend without much to stop it. Of course we tried to get the Venezuelan government to talk about the situation and even highlight their efforts to stop the drug trade, but once again no response.

You may have covered this in your on air report, but isn’t a lot of the cocaine that comes into the US funneled from Venezuala through Hispaniola (ie-Dominican Republic) and other islands in the area? These islands just don’t have the money and resources to fight drug smuggling…………..and, as with the case of Haiti, are overwhelmed with corruption.
Good piece. Two things come to mind since I’m not all that familiar with this…..YET.
1. The poor people of Venezuela – I cannot even imagine how they must live.
2. You had better watch your back – you are messing with the pocket books of many vile human beings.
This pi**es me off- in dollar amount- how much is 300 tons? anyone have an idea? Max?
So in other words, these European countries and the druggies here in the United States are supporting Chavez and his sweet a**!!!!!!
Cocaine is like opium– in the sense you have to grow it and then break it down to the chemical–from the coca leaf— so if 220 out of 300 tons are coming out of Venezuela, then there must be a chara load of coca plants growing there in South America? and of course the trickling affect-natives getting paid their meager wages to grow these — on to the warehouses or wherever the leaf has to be synthesized-
Coca leaves are stripped from the plant and crushed, chopped, and/or pounded and mixed with a solution of alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or some other solvent that will separate the cocaine from the leaves.
The resulting liquid contains unpurified cocaine alkaloids and may additionally contain waxy material from the leaves. This waxy material can be removed by heating and then cooling the mixture, a process that solidifies the unwanted wax.
The next step is to isolate the cocaine alkaloids from the liquid. This is done with acid and basic mixtures. The alkaloids that are removed in this process are then treated with kerosene.
The kerosene is removed and gas crystals of crude cocaine are left at the bottom of the tank. Typically, the crystals are dissolved in methyl alcohol. They are then recrystallized and dissolved in sulfuric acid, which results in cocaine that is about 60% pure.
(nothing like snorting or shooting up cocaine and methyl alcohol)—
in other words, to get this, there are plants and labs everywhere—
You just came on with more information– so what are the DEA officials going to do if they can’t bust the cocaine business in fear of Chavez?

In this side of the world– Sonoran legislators are coming here to Az to argue with the lawmakers here about our law which is in effect about legals having to be legally here to work and the Sonoran legislators are arguing they can not house the illegals returning back to Sonora so it our job to house them—– Az has the busiest border for illegal crossing-

I have been continuously watching Chavez with his involvement with the Farc in Columbia. Many people here do not even know who those barbarics are. Recently when Chavez wanted to play the hero to the 1000 people the Farc have kidnapped Chavez expects the Columbia and the US to bring down the terrorist title of the Farc. This would enable Chavez another step forward to take over Columbia and as well recieve more money from the Farc. Actually his goal to take over the entire Latin Country. I’m glad Fox has reported the drug problem, I hope you report more on the games Chavez plays against Columbia and the US.
I’m not a long, lost relative looking to hitch on to famous kin. I just wanted to say that I am glad to see the family name in prominence.

Adam,
I have a question or two
300 tons of cocaine crossing the borders with Hugo Chavez’s knowledge and probably blessing, my question to you is – as a journalist/reporter that is stating FACTS not assumptions regarding this topic, aren’t you afraid of your safety??? If their DEA is afraid of speaking out on this, what is his (Hugo’s) reaction to you reporting on this around the world.
Do you have security with you during this assignment to protect you and your crew???
Second question – since we only watch Fox News 24-7 – is this story another exclusive for you???
Adam–
I had asked the same question as KC– Chavez does not like you– and I am sure he has heard about your coverage– are you not like nervous?
Chavez seems to get a piece of every barrel of oil, every gram of coke, as an exit tax. I wonder what he does with all the money? It sure doesn’t seem to be showing up in his economy. -Rod-
Mornin Susan. Tammy. Et al!
I just saw you again– and this coverage was a bit different than the last one– I was going to ask you about heroin– and you just answered it– I don’t understand– if these are going out on these flights and oil tankers, these can’t be searched as they enter US soil?
John- answer this one–
Rod–
Chavez is saving his money for his big wedding with Naomi– according to my inside sources-
Spent 9 years patroling the Spanish Main…the word “corruption” is candy coated to what goes on there…while we did not always stop the vessel…we did pick up the contraband thrown out…and I learned by dead example of what a columbian necktie was(note to self …don’t be afraid be concerned) …dangerous work..maybe Mark Rowe would want to try it..lol……& Note to Sean Penn, hello idiot HE IS A DICTATOR! He apparently didn’t get the memo
Susan………..I think you know a little bit toooooo much about cocaine production. The “illegal drug trade” is a multi-billion dollar global industry…….rivaling the oil markets when it comes to profits. The only way anyone, or any nation is going to stop it is to take away the demand for drugs. As long as the demand is there……the drug cartels will find a way to fill the supply lines.
John–
you are way too funny–
When we lived in Bolivia, my dad would wander through the plants as he was looking for oil there as a geologist– In Mexico, he looked for firebrick clay-
Also– as you know, cocaine was put into coca cola at one time– hence the name Coca Cola– the rich use to drink it– Sigmund Freud loved the stuff-
Anderson Cooper had a segment about opium one night– how it is grown and the process it goes through– it was interesting-
When I was flying in Florida in the mid 1980’s, I was approached several times by apparent drug smugglers that wanted to know if I wanted to make a quick $5000.00, sometimes $10,000.00 for one night’s work. Either flying drugs into the country from South America or one of the islands……..or flying drugs that had already been smuggled into the US, up the east coast to markets in the NE.
Two reasons I never took their offer….1) you never knew if the guy you were talking to was DEA or some other agency and 2) ……more worrisome was that many a time a smugglers plane would be found in the swamps, empty of it’s illegal wares, but a dead pilot in the cockpit…………….one less witness, and well worth a small $10,000.00 investment to the smuggler to get his bounty in. Hard to turn them down sometimes though…………back then it would take me about 6 months of work to make $10k.
Sorry if this double posted, wasn’t surem if it went through the first time
Adam dear– cool (expletive) video– did you give the men some Bolivares for their musical services? I hope!
Caracas is a very large city– I hadn’t even realized the size until you showed us the video– Love the roof shots again–
What did you guys eat the day you were on a mission to find food?

Susan: No idea about the costs of cocain.
And cocain being in coca cola is meant to be an urban myth.
However, some people involved in undercover operations concede, that commercial flights with falsified cargo papers and even oil tankers which appear to be legitimate, make it nearly impossible to stop the drug shipments northward. The planes and ships are packed and explain why it is nearly impossible to stop the flow….
Knowing this– why, once here, can’t these be checked?
P.S. Don’t forget to answer Avi’s question about the camera.

Thanks for the video, awesome as usual and very informative. Hopefully, you will not find need to use that glass building this trip.
Pillow talk – that’s cute – and the purpose is???
Stay safe
I think the pillow probably kills the echo of a voice bouncing off of 4 walls and various other things in the room. -Rod-
susan you gonna correct Max?
Susan: what dd you want me to comment about on the Hugo vs. Catholics blog?
Max–
In a psychology class I took way back when, the use of coca in coca cola was discussed in our substance use and other addictive disorders section–
If you have ever heard the rumor that Coca Cola products once contained cocaine, this one is actually true. Research indicates that only trace amounts were used and of course, at the time the dangers of cocaine were unknown. Cocaine was not an illegal substance back then and was used in many feel-good “tonics,” which is what Coca Cola was originally meant to be
Max-
How do I change the map without having to redo the whole thing again? I had messed up on Adam’s map putting in Tahiti in Indonesia–
When i was at the world of coke they had removed all mention of cocain.
Rod–
I thought maybe so their voices did not carry through the walls- as in paper thin– but yours makes good sense-
~9 mg per glass till 1903

Early years
Columbus, Georgia druggist John Stith Pemberton invented a cocawine called Pemberton’s French Wine Coca in 1884, although it was originally meant to be a headache medicine. He was inspired by the formidable success of French Angelo Mariani’s cocawine, Vin Mariani.
The following year, when Atlanta and Fulton County passed Prohibition legislation, Pemberton began to develop a non-alcoholic version of the French Wine Coca. He named it Coca-Cola, because it included the stimulant coca leaves from South America and was flavored using kola nuts, a source of caffeine. Pemberton called for 5 ounces of coca leaf per gallon of syrup. The first sales were made at Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886, and for the first eight months only an average of nine drinks were sold each day. Pemberton ran the first advertisement for the beverage on May 29 that year in the Atlanta Journal.
Coca-Cola was initially sold as a patent medicine for five cents a glass. Pemberton claimed Coca-Cola cured myriad diseases, including morphine addiction, dyspepsia, neurasthenia, headache, and impotence.

Adam dear–
If you and your crew had stayed here in my house, I would have sent you guys two blocks from here to have dinner- Lupita’s– a hole in the wall- every Friday night, they have mariachi’s come and play– I love it there– since I can’t go soak in the culture, I live by it– and since I am use to the way of life from my days, I have no problems when I go to little Mexico just a few blocks down the road– I just found another hole in the wall yesterday– I had never seen this place before but I saw a sign which said- sopes- so Ken and I entered and the guy was like amazed I spoke Spanish– so keep that in mind, when Nora needs a break–
I enjoy watching the history of drugs on history channel…its hard to believe the opium dens were tolerated ….though I guess you have to understand that corruption in govt started wayyyyy before that
John,
I agree – the only way to stop the drug traffic is to stop the demand…..are your suggesting legalizing?
I struggle with this idea. Absolutely HATE drugs….but, as an underground business, it is destroying countries, people and making the bad guys rich….
any thoughts?
Don’t forget George Washington and hemp-
“Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere.”
–President George Washington, 1794
Mornin to you Rod.
What a great video, I too love the roof shots. I think Chavez needs to forget Naomi and go for Brittney Spears what a duo they would make.
MWS – can you give any more details on what you had to contend with?
John – you stated that the demand for illegal drugs needs to go away in order for the problem to go away. How does that happen? I think about prohibition and the bootleggers etc. We dealt with that by legalizing alcohol. How do we deal with this issue without legalizing drugs? Don’t know if that’s a naïve question but just thought I’d get your thoughts.
Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!! That video was fun!! I didn’t know there was other crew there besides Nora and Eric (Don’t forget to tell Eric that I think he’s really hot). That guy with the music at the end was good!
Why did you have to go into that room for fresh air? You were outside. Was it pollution or something going on that I missed?
George Washington used hemp extract to ease the pain from his wooden false teeth. Thomas Jefferson grew Marijuana, and in letters written by him he mentions the seeds of one crop being particularly good. If he was only growing rope, it is unlikely that one strain would be much different than another.
American High Society–

Maybe Hugo can join the polygamy thinking? Obviously, he is not into Christianity-
No…………I don’t think legalizing ALL drugs is the answer. We have plenty of legal drugs, both over and behind the counter types , that are being abused by our populations. Of course for an economic point of view it would allow the government to tax the profits…………….but then we’d be no different than our buddy Chavez.
I had posted this earlier, but it didn’t go through……..I think Susan was hogging the link. When I was flying out of Florida I was approached on more than one occasion by drug smugglers to offer me a quick $5K to $10K for one night’s work. They either needed a load brought into the country, or have a load that was already smuggled in flown up the coast to the NE markets. Back then it was mainly marijuanna and one load was worth between $200k to $500k street value.
Two reasons I never took their offer were 1) you never knew if they were DEA or some other agency and 2)……more worrisome, on more than one occasion would a drug plane be found in the swamps, empty of it’s illegal cargo, but one dead pilot in the cockpit………………one less witness, and well worth a small $10k investment for a $500k shipment.
That’s a big difference in scenery from going to Caracas and actually being in Caracas.
Adam when you make these videos and you add the type at the bottom, can you slow it down a bit please. It takes me a bit to read it quickly then process it in my brain hahahaha!
Hi Nora! (just responding to your hello to us).
Wow Adam, when you open the door to the balcony what a huge difference from inside the clean room! Outside it looked dirty and it was noisy with the street traffic. Smog was everywhere.
Ok so, Venezuela is bringing us cocaine. And Hugo is getting paranoid about espionage on the part of the US DEA (or was it CIA), the paranoia is indicative of somebody that uses cocaine. Although, I am sure that we are watching him very closely so he is right to be paranoid. This would be a good time to sneak up behind Hugo and say BOO!
Karen2……….No, I don’t think legalizing drugs is the answer. We have plenty of already legal drugs that are being abused by our society. Of course, from an economic point of view, it would allow the government to tax the profits of the drug sales…………….but then we’d be no different than our buddy Chavez.
Hello all….
Someone inform me in what way(s) specifically are the drug cartels recieving “support” from President Chavez?
Gringo in Latin America
Gringo, it’s obvious that the drugs are filtering into the USA from Venzuela. Under the power of Hugo Chavez. Just the fact alone that this is happening under his control shows his support or else he wouldn’t allow it to happen.
Here’s my concern about this product being able to come here whether it be by boat or plane. If you can get cocaine into the US, then what is to stop lets say, WMDs from coming over, I know that’s a little far fetched but you guys have the idea of what I am saying.
Oh geez… somebody please translate what Carol is saying.
Hello all again….
I have a weird observation about legalizing drugs: Do not do it.
This is not for the reasons you may think. I don´t care if people get high on roasted Fruit Loops, the problem I have is how they might distribute it if it is legalized.
Have you ever noticed that most drug dealers are content with their wages and salaries? This is at every level. Of course all wish to move up the chain, but you very rarely hear about people working in the narcotic industry complain about how much they have earned. In addition, there is always room for advancement. It is like AVON or Amway, but with products people want. (most because they are horribly addicted of course)
I can not judge those who take drugs because I put worse things in my body everyday that will slowly send me to an early grave I am sure.
Now, if drugs are legalized, what will occur? Many lucurative companies will have their lawyers get all the patents on all the drugs and pay the dealer on the street (in this case, it would be more like a GNC I suppose) a little over the minimum wage.
So in reality, making drugs legal will hurt the user AND the dealer.
What are your thoughts?
Gringo in Latin America
Those Columbia drug cartels are very dangerous. I feel bad for the people of Venezuela if they start to take over the cities.
Carol was saying how Chavez has everything under his control and how he should be tried in an international court.
Gringo in Latin America
PS: Did I tell you guys I was formaly in The U.S. Coast Guard?
Carol also said something about huge being a red gorilla.
Karen,
I need specifis. How specifically is Chavez supporting drug cartels in his country?
Make me a believer and I will be.
Gringo in Latin America
John,
So true.
It irks me when I hear people say “my use of drugs does not hurt anyone”.
Oh yea? How about all the people being used to harvest the drugs, the “mules” used to transport? The crime created by “people establishing their territory”…an on it goes…. And, all the people in jail.
Unfortunately, it falls on deaf ears.
It would be nice to see the whole process – of how the people live who harvest, manufacture, transport, distribute the supply, and sell….and then who reaps theh PROFIT. Maybe then, people would begin to wake up. I wish I had the answer.
Karen2: that would make a good documentary. But dangerous one to make.
I heard Chavez say, that he chews coca paste everyday.
He said it on National Television for all audiences, including kids.
Look for it on the intenet and you will findit.
this man is sick. He is the next Noriega.
Supporting Terrorit and drug cartels, and he media says he is good!
Here is Carol’s translation:
“Hello, I am of Venezuela, lamentably I do not know to speak English, but I knew recently of this one news, that it worries incredibly to many Venezuelans.
Chavez is a small dictator in this country, that does with Venezuela which gives the desire him, we we are fed up, but gorila red has the powers of the country under its control! ….the internal situation is unbearable ….. I hope that someday humanity is judged in the international court of justice of The Hague by crimes of lesa
A warm greeting of Venezuela”
Gringo—
wrong— I speak Spanish——–fluently– let me translate as this is my job here while Adam is gone—-
First to Carol— SALUDOS Y BIENVENIDA! Y muy bien recibida aquí con nosotros/nosotras- Se hablar español, así que si quiere seguir con su correspondencia con nosotros, me da mucho gusto en poder contestarla-
I agree Gringo. I think the post made earlier was to the point that the only benefit to be reaped would be the taxes.
However, if marijuana were legalized, then every adult could purchase it. It might even reduce the number of higher ups in the chain. There wouldn’t be an industry for it. Only children would not be able to purchase it and if it were legal perhaps they could go to a neighbor (as sick as this sounds) instead of to a street drug dealer that holds a gun and is diseased.
But, this doesn’t take into account cocaine, and I apologize but I am not familiar with these other drugs out there. There would still be a viable market for the remaining drugs, drugs that we would never legalize, not in my lifetime anyway.
I do feel that Alcohol is a drug also.
I am against the legalization of drugs.
Tammy………………..I don’t think we can take away the demand for drug use. It’s pretty much an individual’s choice whether they want to take drugs or not. Legalizing them would put some economic control back into the hands of the government, however the problems of drug abuse would not go away………….just like it will not go away with alcohol abuse. I think certain humans are just prone to be drug abusers…whether they are legal or not.
Susan, can you teach me Spanish?
I already know Hola. Muy bien. Gracias.
Any hope for me?
Susan…maybe Max can do the math here…. I cant do kilo stuff without spending all after noon on it!
but i found this… it was 2008 article
Benjie Telleron – AHN News Writer
Lima, Peru (AHN) – The Peruvian police reported on Saturday seizing some 139 kg of cocaine in an anti-drug operation in the southern province of Ica. The bust is one of the largest ever by the Peruvian police.
Police said the drugs were packed in 180 small bags with a street market value estimated at over $100 million.
Authorities said the cocaine was confiscated inside an empty bus on Friday. The police arrested the driver during the bust.
Peru is the second largest producer of cocaine in the world next to Columbia. It produces nearly 300 tons of cocaine annually and is located in a drug-producing region known as “the Silver Triangle” in South America.

Hi, I am from Venezuela, sadly I can’t speak English, but I heard about this news lately, and this has us Venezuelans incredibly worried.
Chavez is a little dictator in this country, who does with Venezuela whatever he wants, and we are sick of it, but the red gorilla has the powers of this country under his control! this situation is unsupportable from the internal situation… I hope one he is judged in an international court by the justice of the Haya (?) and for his crimes against humanity.
A cordial hello from venezuela
Karen T–
what you said is great– a nice welcome to Carol— xxxxx
should I show Gringo how well I can swear in español?
Max,
Do you think a documentary about drugs from beginning to end would have any bearing on peoples thoughts?
Maybe Michael Moore would want to do it…..oh, never mind he is only interested in propaganda.
On second thought, maybe he would – he could show how beneficial it is to other nations to build their wealth.
Ooops-
K2– SORRY
Gringo, Adam’s report says this…
Venezuelan police officers tell us that corruption at Venezuela’s highest levels and within the countries security forces have allowed drug cartels free reign and that includes support from president Hugo Chavez
Gringo, There needs to be some level of trust between the reader and the reporter. For example, if Adam reports to us that he was told this by top officials and we do not have the top officials telling us this directly, you would need to trust that the top officials cannot go on record with their names and faces splattered for all drug cartels to see. It would only put their lives in danger and perhaps hinder an investigation.
Aside from this, like I said on a previous post, and I sincerely believe this, the Columbian Cartels are very prominent. I seriously doubt that they can get into Venezuela and use Venezuela as a passage to the USA without the knowledge of Hugo Chavez. If the cartels continue their operations, which they have been, then it is obvious that they are pertmitted to do so by Chavez, because they have not been stopped by Chavez. I believe this to be true by default.
This is true,a video of Chavez hiself aaddressing the nation recmending to chew coca paste!
Susan I am venezuelan, and you that understand spanish, will be shocked to hear it from his own mouth.
Evo morales sends coca paste to Chavez, and he chews it ever day.

Carol,
——————————————-
This is what I asked Carol
Carol,
I am using a free translator on the web to send this message, as I do not speak Spanish.
If I understand your post, many people of Venezuela are unhappy with Chavez. Is it difficult to express your opinoins against him?
I had no idea he was allowing drugs to flow freely from Venezuela. Is there a drug use problem in your country?
Karen 2–
I translated mine from word by word– it took me longer than you-
the max… 139 kg = 139×2.2 = 305.8lb = $100 million per the article i pasted.
Cecilia… only good things can come out of Adam reporting on these stories. I wasn’t aware of any of this going on until i started hearing his reports. We, and speaking for everyone around the world not just the USA, should be aware of what is going on. This way there’s no surprises and maybe we have a shot with preventative measures.
Adam, I would like to learn more about this FARC thing, I don’t have a full understanding of it… have you written any stories in the past that I can read?
Karen 2–
pretty good– your message to Carol– some mistakes but the message is loud and clear–
Max,
We don’t need the documentary…..Chavez admits he uses coca paste every day.
Enough said. Look how well Venezuela is operating under his control.
But, then I must be the one confused. Look at the Hollywood types who think he (Chavez) is great. Or, maybe drug infested minds think alike?
And Gringo, I appreciate it that you are willing to see all sides and not afraid to switch your opinion publicly if you feel that you should switch.
Alfredo–
I listened to it again– Evo sends him the paste but Cuba sends him many things too– I guess he was saying there is an exchange of gifts!!!!!!!
nobody is listening to me, maybe i can go into the tiger thread and give someone the opportunity to pick a fight with me. hahahahaha!!!!!!! Wheeee!!!!
Karen T
Yes, I was listenting to you. You are very smart. Your posts are excellent. I concur…keep ‘em going.
Karen,
Patty just posted an atricle explaining how Peru is the second largest producer of cocaine next to Colombia. Perhaps Adam will do a story on that and how corruption exisits in the highest levels in the Garcia administration?
Perhaps he could even do a story on how former president Fujumori is being tried for crimes of corruption and other things during his presidency?
I suppose Adam will pass on this because both of those presidents were on the political right?
I do not wish to insult Adam or anything like that, and I enjoy this ability to express my concerns, but the idea that these stories are comming now just on the heels of Chavez assisiting some hostages being released just does not pass the smell test for me.
It is similar to when Chavez was offering some countries in Latin america medical assisitance from doctors in Venezuala. what did the Us government do? send the USS Comfort to the region to counter this. Why couldn´t the Comfort come down before?
Adam, if you can´t find anyone to interview to express the other side to the story, I would be more than happy to offer myself to you, at the risk of being thrown in Gitmo.
Respectfully,
Gringo in Latin America

Fox News shoud air this video to show the world, we have a NUTCASE in power that uses coca paste everyday, bipolar, that wants to be in power for life and that gives other coutries billions of dollars, while in MY Country poverty is rampant, crime is at the highest, with more than a hundred killed every week
With oil a $ 100 per barrel, and there is no milk, no eggs, no meat, no toilette paper, and inflation and corruption are the worst in the continent.
He pays FARC 500.000.000 $ to liberate 2 prisoners, while more than 700 are still kept in their concentration camps, and we have 36 political prisoners in Venezuela.
very humantarian!!
Welcome to the New Cubazuela, oil poor country. With top officials swimming in luxury, and money, very revolutionary.

Carol–

Bueno, ¿te refieres a drogas (cocaina, marihuana) y no medicina(medicamentos)?
Hmmm …..I thought we has a discussion about talking English in America a few days ago?
Gringo in L A
a dictator is good only if he is leftist
a corrupt is good only if he i like Chavez
A mass killer and criminal is good if he is from the left.
Pinochet is bad, but Castro is good,
I do not care about left or right, this is about facts
a dictator, corrupt, criminal, is lway the same, either left or right.
for your info there are 6 leftist poltical parties in the venezuelan opposition.
google Teodoro Petkoff, he is against Chavez he founded MAS Movement to Socialism.
Susan,
No sientas lastima por mi……que pena que solo aceptes una parte de la historia.
Adam reported the following:
“Roughly one-third of the the world’s supply of cocaine now comes through Venezuela. That’s an estimated 300 tons that hits American, even European shores. The result, Venezuela is fast becoming the world’s drug superhighway”
So, if Venezuela is “fast becoming” a drug superhighway and one thrid of the world´s cocaine comes “through” Venezuela, then the real story would be where the cocaine is being produced in Colombia and Peru wouldn´t it? Why not do a story at the heart of the problem?
Because it seems (to me, I will concede this) that Adam´s trip is not about drugs or the Catholic church as it is about how negative Chavez is.
I think Saudia Arabia is more negative against religious freedom than Chavez is, yet President Bush is there dancing with swords with their leaders?
I think Colombia and Peru are bigger problems in respect to the drug trade than any up and comming “superhighway” for drugs.
Why the double standard?
Respectfully,

Gringo in LAtin America
No me gusta Pinochet.
Fue un dictador.
Carol–
todo lo que usted dice es lo que el señor Housley ha reportado– Ha tenido el gusto de escucharlo?
Entonces con la falta de medicamentos, me imagino que hay mucha gente que están enfermos?
What’s being said?
Well Gringo–
give Adam time– he can only cover one country at a time—- Chavez appears to be a threat to the US– AS IT CAME FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH!!! Do you like Hitler- Stalin- Mussolini- et al?
Carol answered you —-
I don’t know if you figured it out– she is intelligent and educated—
Susan Venezuela is a melting pot there are white people there too, jewish, germans, europeans,
but no matter how white, how blond, how caucasian, or how black, you are, if you happen to be born there, your real race is no longer so, you will have on your forehead the latino or hispanic sticker.
I was white all my life until I came to the USA even in Europe I am white.
Alfredo,
“a dictator is good only if he is leftist” – FALSE. Many people on the left are against the government in China
“a corrupt is good only if he i like Chavez” – FALSE. No “corrupt” is good, period.
A mass killer and criminal is good if he is from the left. FALSE. No one on the left was laughing at what occured in Cambodia in the late 60´s.
“Pinochet is bad, but Castro is good” – MAYBE. Castro has not executed half the amount of people that Castro has. (For me, even one person executed wrongly is too many). Pinochet accumulated much more wealth before his death than Castro has. If you doubt this, check the Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C.
Respectfully,
Gringo
Max—
Carol is talking about the lack of medicine- how communication is being restricted- lack of food- and how this country sucks–
Gringo is blowing wind out of his hole-
Castro has not executed half the amount of people that Castro has.
what the (expletive) does this mean?
Susan: thanks
I think Gringo meant “Castro has not executed half the amount of people that Pinochet has. “
Alfredo–
this distinction comes from whom? originally?
MAX-
I know– don’t rain on my parade– I am taunting–
I meant no disrespect to anyone from Venezuela that wants to talk to Adam.
Please no offense was intended.
Susan -translate for me. if needed. Thank You!
Susan,
What is a bigger threat to the us right now?
A. The drugs that are produced in Colombia and Peru and are shiipped “through” Venezuela, as well as Mexico and a host of other countries, creating havoc in the inner cities of the United States?
OR
B. Chavez´s mouth?
Gringo
PS: Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin were not elected officials……….Chavez was. (I know what your excuse will be, maybe he was the 1st time, but not the 2nd right? It was all rigged somehow, right? Is that how it goes in your camp?)
Susan: *rains on your parade*
Whatever your name is– because I won’t insult the gringos–
so in other words– if one kills one thousand and the other kills 500, the lesser of the evils is the 500 murderer?

El forista Alfredo ha hecho una pequeña explicación del caso Antonini, te agrego otro link: http://www.globovision.com/news.php?nid=62124
Adam… there’s another Housley in your house.
Gringo: Hitler was elected, Mussolini was too. They were elected then took power from other parts of the government to become a dictator, much like Chavez
Alfredo,
Your telling me that you won´t instantly “become more latin than white” the next time a “Latin Pride Day” parade comes floating down the streets of Los Angeles?
Gringo
And guess who the executioner is ?
Che Guevara Himself.
OK– WHATEVER your name is– playing the Devil’s advocate– have it your way– Chavez is a good man and so is Castro– and all their other playmates– Right now they are playing marbles as good boys do–
the oppressed people living in fear in Venezuela are chewing on the coca leaves and are now delusional–
gotcha!
Max,
You are correct, but Hitler and Musolini maintained power. Chavez is giving his up at the end of his term. He tried to change the constitution to permit him to run for more terms, but it was rejected. So, he will step down and the people of Venezuela can get a nice right wing president that will ensure that wages stay low and that regulations are eliminated for businesses.
Everyone will be happy and there will be no more negative reports on Fox.
Or is this a fantasy? Because right wing presidents have been so successfull in that country in the past correct?
Respectfully,
Gringo
(Am I the only left wing nut on here?)
Alfredo—
I was around during the Che Guevara days– love the Bolivian army at the time– bye bye you jerk! I lived in Bolivia—
Alfedo… that is part of the brainwashing that Hugo does. He’ll say things like that so children at a young age can hear it. It puts into their minds that it’s OK to do this. They grow up hearing this and do not know any better.
The same thing happens hear with the TV shows and movies they’re putting out. Our children grow up seeing things on TV and they think it’s socially acceptable.
Por que no te callas—
I am latina in many ways– moreso than you will ever be!
To the list of good people, for Gringo…..Lenin and Stallin – they did soooooo much to improve the welfare of their people…..much like Chavez now.
Does that answer your question as to who is better?

Bye bye!
We have never elected a right wing president since 1959 ALL where from the left center left.
Accion Democratica and Copei. democrat cristian and no cristian in the right american view.
there is no right wing in my country.
John, close the borders and stop the drugs from coming over. There will no longer be a supply and the use would significantly decrease. Crack down on these crack houses, which I can’t believe are even in existance, put the police on the streets where the thugs hang out and give more money to the DEA to better fight the war on drugs. Eventually the drugs will go away and not be available.
I think the war on drugs is a winnable war.
Gringo: That’s what he says, but he was building up a paramilitary faction to his political party (Adam: is he still doing this?). If the Chavistas grow to outnumber the army i doubt he’d step down. Hitler and Musolini kept the facade of democracy as long as they could.

Keep up the work you are doing and if I can help you in any way, just contact me.

Wow!
just skimming through all the posts :
Hilter, Hugo and Fidel …..
def a trio
Hitler rose to power after economic crash, fidel pretends the people love him, and hugo does to…
All poor countries with strong dictators trying to get rich
Hilter beat the odds and took over parliament and eventually the chancleorrship promished everyone jobs food and equality …. socialism ……
Hugo trying to help the poor equality
Fidel pretends
no comparison can be made with the trio hilter killled millions of jews 6 million
at least this other folks semi respect them
about the coke
Hugo needs the money soo if he cant get it semi legally they he gotta do what he gotta do and get the money thru semi illegal avenue and sources
Is it wrong ? Yes IS he doing what he has to do to get money ( not caring from where) ? YES
” A man gotta do what a man gotta do.”
I think Hugo is not a good leader however he claims to help the poor……. Has he given people money sure ( not for the right reasons)
is he trying to nathionalize companies yes and make everything governmential yes……
His a strong man so hell probably get his way no matter what unless someone pulls out a huge revoulution
the military aint going to go agianst his back
the people arnt strong enough soooooo
free and democratic elections will only solve the problem
Maybe his loss in his constitutional amendment was planned just to make peopel feel bad or w/e and only make him stronger and win ( or pretend to win ) another time before he leaves office…..
Alfredo–
mucho gusto–
hasta luego—
Rodrigo: nice photos!
Gringo, that would be impossible because the left is for the redistribution of wealth. In order for that to happen you would have to redefine what the left stands for.
I’m glad Fox is starting to pay more attention to Chavez.
Chavez is a buffoon, but that those not mean he isn’t a great danger to the world. I remenber that in the beginning people disregard Hitler as a joke and say e looked like Chaplin.
Chavez would support anyone that oppose the US “empire”, and would give him whatever the want. This include money, oil, weapons, drugs, logistic, diplomatic efforts, Uranium (we possed great reserves).
He has ties, (some proven and some highly rumored) with Iran ahmadinejad, Castro, the FARC, the ETA, Hezzbolah and other terrorist organizations. He has supported many candidates in latin america to take power and lead “revolutions” like his.
Here in venezuela are growing concern about the increasing mental instability of this guy, and the possibility that he cause a armed conflict with colombia. International community has to take interest in the situation a prevent it to get out of hand.
Avi: Apprently the Army General there keeps warning Hugo that he could take him down whever he wants.
Gringo, you’re killin me! Adam told me to tell Susan that he’s not going to Columbia this time. But, Adam has covered the Columbian Drug Cartels.
You just can’t accept that Chavez is doing this. You can’t believe that Chavez is actually involved with Drug Cartels. You can’t believe that Chavez is hurting his own people. You think that everything that Chavez does that’s illegal or immoral is for the greater good.
What is it going to take for you to wake up?
Max
hence apprently doubt that is so
do you have a source?
Carol–

Alfredo, if there’s no right wing in your country, then there’s no balance. You’ll be one of those countries that puts on their left blinker and never shuts it off. And nobody on the road knows what they’re thinking or what they’re going to do.
Good grief, tear gas! I can’t imagine living like that.
Avi: There was something on Fox after the election there, and a guest was saying that Hugo lost by a large amount, he was going to just announce that he had won, but the General told him that his Presidency would end if he did that, and agreed to let him say he lost by a small amount.
Also remember something about how the General said that if Hugo ordered protestors or journalists killed he would order Hugo killed.
Adam should know more about it than me.
Karen T–
Adam left you a message– I will let you explain–
I think he forgot about Gringo’s message last night about Chavez going up to Bush and saying boo- and it never happened—

Chavez said that he always wanted to sneak up behind President Bush and say BOO!
hahahahaha! Can you imagine? The mental picture alone that I am getting cracks me up.
So, with all of Chavez’s paranoia that the US DEA is watching him, and his behavior of being paranoid is the same as somebody who is doing cocaine, then this would be a good time to play Chavez’s own trick on him… run up behind him and say BOO!!
Bah HAHAHAHA… I can’t breathe.
Somebody please translate what Adam said to Carol
I used to travel to Venezuela in the 90’s for business. I was there when the bolivar took it’s first bad hit (from 20:1 to 90:1 in a few days). I stay in touch with a friend I made still living in Caracas. She paints an even worse picture of the living conditions there than we see on US TV. The hyperinflation has caused several families to move in together and just a trip to the market puts your life on the line (plus once you get to market, there are very few things to buy).
I used to love the Hotel Tamanaco (having stayed at many Hotel Intercontinental properties around the world, this was one of my favorites) – Adam, if you get time – they have a great buffet poolside, and delicious coffee! The view was nice, too (poolside as well as looking into the city).
If you need a great translator in Caracas, let me know!

The world is turning to Venezuela and finally you will see what kind of “president” we have. I’ve read people saying that Chavez is not a bad person and I say that those persons don’t live in Venezuela and suffer every day our problems.
Government starting from Chavez is supporting groups like FARC and ELN, with money and the let them to stay in some places of our country, that’s why Colombia can’t fight against them because they move between Venezuela and Colombia. Drugs cartels have seen an opportunity in that so they move without problems here. Corruption is like drink water here, and Chavez offered to eradicate the corruption as soon as he started his first election.
We (venezuelans) can’t fight against the government because Chavez has taken all key positions (Military, Congress, States, Attorneys). Step by step he’s trying to transform Venezuela in Cuba or to merge both countries, his allies: Cuba (of course, we have been their best oil and money suppliers by the last 8 years), FARC, ELN, IRAN)
Chavez prefers to buy products to Cuba at the double of the price before doing it directly to the real supplier. They can give millions to other countries for anything and we have problems to buy powder milk and baby milk, meat, vegetable oil, chicken because the local production can satisfy the demand and there is no enough money for import those products. We have limitations for travel, we can only spend 5k$ for travels per year and “400$” per year for internet operations, but they (government) spend vacations in Europe, Las Vegas, Mexico, Argentina with unlimited credit cards.
Every day I see more poor people on the streets, sleeping under bridges, very very poor people and they give money for the elections in Argentina (The Briefcase – Antonini), that briefcase was not the first.
Chavez is a Dictator using a costume of Democratic Leader.
Please, don’t forget us, we’re very scared about the future of our country and our children.

Now, getting back to cocaine being in Coke. Let’s see that was about 3 1/2 hours ago, but I didn’t get a chance to comment. So listen up.
Go back and look at Hugo vs. Catholics thread and look at the slide show Adam did. I made the comment about how they drink Pepsi there (see the Pepsi sign) They do not put cocaine in Coke anymore; they put it in the Pepsi and ship it out!

:O
Seriously, be careful out there Adam. Those guys do not want the publicity, and they play for keeps. I am sure you are aware, and the story is important, but not worth dying for.
Sounds like the Columbian drug cartels, only with the government behind them. Well, some of the Columbian government covertly supported the drug trade too.
Reminds me of the story on the Mena case, for which some Arkansas state troopers were allegedly involved. This was during Iran – Contra, and Ortega was in the mix. It has been reported that drugs were flown into Arkansas, and monies laundered by some Arkansas Development Corp.
I really don’t know the validity of this, but 8 people ended up murdered in this case. The Governor at the time? Hint: it wasn’t Huckabee.
What criteria are they going to use? I mean, can Canada really put anybody on notice for anything? I kinda think of them as our redheaded stepchild. nobody really wants them around, they can’t hurt anybody, and they are always there, whining in back seat of our SUV as we conquer yet another mountain range.
Adam….remember the code…if s**t goes down, just text me “the goose flies south at midnight” and I will come extract you. Rod you on board with this?
Carl,
I remember that story. Good job bringing it up.
K2..
I left you a response in the church thread about the drilling for oil and the enviromentalists issues.
Adam, keep up the good work and stay safe.
Yes Derek !
Gringo… this comment you made to Susan
PS: Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin were not elected officials……….Chavez was. (I know what your excuse will be, maybe he was the 1st time, but not the 2nd right? It was all rigged somehow, right? Is that how it goes in your camp?)
But people were saying that they were afraid to go out and vote in opposition of him. Can you imagine being afraid to go out and vote? You can’t speak your mind in fear that you’ll die? That’s a loss of freedom, freedom that every human being has a right to have. Why would you want to be under that rule?
test
Dear Adam– I am going to try this again– first one did not post
As Ken and I left to run an errand, and I was away from all the energy in this blog, I felt an overwhelming sense of sadness. I had to actually brush my tears away.
As you know, I was raised from the age of two to my mid- twenties in Latino countries. I went to school with the Latinos. I had Latino friends. I played with them. I ate with them. I visited their homes and became a part of their families. Their culture became my culture. Their language became my language. Their life was my life.
I know I was showing off my spanish here today but I was able to meet some very special people- Carol, Daniel, Alfredo, Rodrigo, and Jos.
As I drove through little Mexico, El Mirage, I saw how these Mexicans here, have worked so hard to have their modest little homes- yes maybe illegally, but they are trying to live decently. I suddenly felt like a hypocrite- I don’t want them to be sent back home. I saw on the television the other night some illegals which were arrested and one of them was an older man. I felt awful. All my attitudes changed to compassion.
I complained on how hard it was to get Ken’s medication- yes, it took two weeks- I was inconvenienced but I have it- unlike those people Carol mentioned which are not getting any medication.
Every corner here has a McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box- We have food banks- unlike those people Carol talked about where there is a food shortage and they are having a hard time getting food.
We complain about Bush- and the candidates running for Presidency- but we are very lucky they are not dictators or have in mind to run this country as Chavez does.
This whole issue today has given me a new perspective.
Gracias Carol, Alfredo, Daniel, Jos, y Rodrigo
To Gringo— I pulled this off the other thread-
I would like to continue “blogging” with you folks if you permit me?
Cheers,
Gringo in Latin America

Hey Gringo– for me– yes– I have fun taunting you!!
And your spanish was just fine– I just got angry when you made the remark to Carol– unfair for me to have insulted you— sorry!
Too bad I wasn’t really your personal assistant– I would have grabbed a camera and video and gone out to meet these people who emailed you- and met them personally– I like socializing-
and Adam you haven’t answered my bat question on the newspaper thread—
Derek,
Absolutely. I’ll even spot this trip… -Rod-
END THE WAR ON DRUGSS~~~
I’m positive for the future of Venezula, the students are the future, and they seem right on track!
Daniel–
I read your link— what?
Is Chavez offering refuge sort of to FARC– FARC is being acknowledged as a belligerent group but not as a terrorist group- According to the meeting today—
Daniel–
the National Assembly today–
2.- Rechazar las listas unilaterales impuestas por el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América en su carácter imperialista y otros países colonialistas, donde califican de terroristas a los movimientos de liberación y a los Estados no subordinados a la dominación.
(????)
Sounds like Chavez is saying he wants to restore peace with Colombia—–
Ojala regresas a ver mis preguntas-
gracias—
Max–
me too– I really want Venezuela to come out ahead— there are good people there and they should have the right to be governed by someone who is going to care about them— This has affected me deeply–
And I don’t care what Chavez says about that coca paste– he is getting his illusions of grandoise through that paste– he is a druggie himself—
Carol–
ya le agarre la onda de lo que usted escribio– entre usted y Daniel pude ver mejor la situación-
gracias

Hi people, I´m a venezuelan with a personal point of view based on the situation that our friend Housely is reporting. President Chavez is not only using the oil as political strategy against the US but cocaine as well, now is clear he is letting cross all these tons of drugs through venezuelan borders so the FARC can have all the profit they want to use it for the political scenario that Chavez is creating for them at this point. The revolution based on the 21st century socialism an economic-social & political concept that is not clear for venezuelans, much more less for foreings is pure and simple cuban comunism. Total control of judicial, legislative and political activities and a remarkable anti-gringo agenda.
While millions of $$ are daily received by Chavez administration product of the oil sale, the corruption at every level is destroying our future you see people, young, teenagers in every street consuming drugs asking for money, stealing to survive Chavez is giving away the profits to other countries in latin america. Dear friend Housely keep your labor take off Chavez mask
Rgds
Rod–
Illusions of grandoise works too—
as in impressive- imposing– because in the video he commented how he was using this paste and then added- Look at me–
hence, my word association–
Speaking of which– I think Adam called me a bat–
please tell me what you think- newspaper thread-
boy– there is a manhunt out for that marine– even O’Reilly mentioned him—
AJM–
It breaks my heart– truly does– to hear about the situation amongst the people– and it angers me to think about Chavez–
You missed it all– we were all discussing this earlier– and your comment sure fits in—–
from me to you– keep safe-

how so very cool!!!!!!!!!
I need to go find the others and have them come back as it is very still here– the energy is low-

Thanks for that post. It’s always interesting to hear it first hand. Some of the greatest evils people do is simply to look the other way while bad things happen. Venezuelan’s need to toss Chavez and his cronies out onto the streets…a coup with no return ticket this time. -Rod-
Susan,
Here.
I saw your earlier post. Very draining. It is devastating to see what is happening in Venezuela. So sad when I read (translated) Carol’s post about not being able to obtain medication and food. Makes me want to join Rod and Derek!
Susan I am back from work,
The most important thing is to educate and give people the information in order to spread it out.
a presidend chewing coca paste every day, recomending it to everybody and in a time of TV that is for all audiences.
is it a crime o not? he should be alreay in jail. I do not think coca or ccca paste are legal in Venezuela.
where is the supeme court? of course it is in Chavez hands like everything.
At Least Bush is going to be out soon.
Chave wants to be a dictator for life.
good night and.
Please pass the youtube coca chavez link around. the world must see this criminal acusing himself.
Alfredo.
AJM… Thanks for coming in and posting! We appreciate that information and very sorry that you have to experience that.
Alfredo– hi my friend——
I beat you to it– I sent it to my friend in Panama- a friend of mine in Texas- Florida- and my brother– my friend in Panama hates him–
and good point– I don’t think chewing on a coca paste is legal– hence, his repetition— esto no es cocaina–
good night– have a great night– and I hope we see you again– abrazos-
Susana- en paz descanses-

Karen, Susan, Adam Housley, thank you for being there and having this blog open.
CNN does not care, during years venezuelans have sent information like this, but they say only what their audience wants to hear.
Email and internet is the most powerful tool.
God bless you all
The most important issue for Venezuela is the liberty of our 36 political prisoners.
all the fuss about Colombia is o hide this our real fight right now.

God bless you too– and I am checking out this website as right now—
and thank you for all the valuable links you have provided to us along with your opinions and insight– Please do not be a stranger– I would feel a loss-
You all have enlightened me and have all of you have made me see how thankful I should be- what a great teaching experience this has been- and MI CASA ES SU CASA! ALWAYS-
If you should ever come my way, please let me know- You have a friend here-

Proofs, we need real proofs. I know the journalist you did metion, as I work with him in Radio Caracas T.V. Now RCTV is not considered a national broadcasting, but international, Mr. Sapene, as Press Manager never has a single NEW on the venezuelan drug deal as he mention it to you. I´m not supporting Chavez, never I did; but what I ask you is PROOFS, Mr. Hously.
thank you so much for your receptivity.
NEPTUNO
Susan, than you, I lived and grew up in Venezuela before Chavez, we had medical for free, education has always been free, I come from a working class family, we all my brothers and I graduated from the university, or technical school, you did not need money ony good grades.
there was poverty, but not like today, but there was honesty, hard work, good life, never missed anything or were jealous o others, no racial problems until Chavez started dividing, now some Venezuelan are called African Venezuelans, thanks to some politicians from here that love leftist totalitarians.
Now for chavistas having european or white blood in yor veins is a crime. There are even lists like TASCoN LISTA with id numbers and addesses of all the pople that signed against chavez in the referendm.
We live in an apartheid, a reverse one. to be white or white Eropean descent is bad, to belong to the middle class is bad, to belong to the opposition is bad.
Chavez is a total failure, fraud, a huge lie.
Now thousands of venezuelans with high education and brains have been leaving the country with their families in search of a civilized world, most venezuelans here are professionals.
good night, muy buenas noches a todos!
Hello from Minneapolis MN very cooooooold now! 6 degrees F
Mi casa también es tu casa.
Alfredo–
I can’t sign the petition– it is closed for new signatures– I believe this petition was taken to Miami, December 10-2007- This is going to take me awhile to read- but I read the very heart wrenching letter the prisoners sent to Uribe, last year, October asking- not for clemency but justice-
I read his response which stated the letter was being sent to the proper people– I am assuming, nothing came out of this—
Thanks so much for sharing this– this is extremely powerful– and to say the least- to see these incarcerated people in their photos makes this even more realistic.
And most of these people are incarcerated because their crime was they disagreed– this is so pathetic- It shames to say I had no idea—-
Hang in there– there will be some light–
con cariño,
Susana
Alfredo, you’re right CNN doesn’t care about anything except their own agenda. And what gets me confused is their viewers. You would think that they would want to hear about this. Well, maybe that’s not accurate. Maybe the viewers don’t have a clue because CNN won’t cover it.
CNN = Covering News Negligently
Have you met Gringo yet?
Alfredo–
Adam has been to 41 states but I noticed Minnesota is not one of them– I lived in Minneapolis for a year– and yes— brrrrrr!!!!!! Are all your family out of Venezuela? I hope–

You said in your report that it will be difficult to track the drugs once it leaves Venezuela by boat or plane because of shipping logs.
I know I am a bit naive, but I’m not seeing the problem. As am American I am concerned to hear that cargo is not being spot checked. Or maybe it is but perhaps not as often or thoroughly as it should be. Once a boat reaches our border and docks, there should be trained crews there to inspect. Same if you were driving a car across the border. It shouldn’t cost that much to have dogs avaiable for every shipment also.
I’m not just referring to the drugs. I don’t want to hear that these boats are coming here and not being checked thoroughly. There’s terrorism concerns also, not to mention the issues of human trafficking and illegal immigration.
I know that you said in the report that we don’t have DEA agents over there because they got ran out. But what about other forms of intel? In order for a shipment to come here, somebody has to accept the shipment. Our DEA should know, or I would demand and expect that they know, who is involved on American soil and be tracking their every move.
I don’t want cocaine coming here, period. I must be misunderstanding something. With that amount of cocaine coming here, it shouldn’t be hard to miss or have it slip by.
Again, I am aware that I don’t know how the process works, am I not understanding something?
Oh Dear Lord, please don’t tell me the Hugo has Uranium.
Canadian Illegal Immigration Troubles:
Stemming the flow of illegal immigrants
From the Manitoba Herald, Canada:
The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop
the illegal immigration.
The actions of President Bush are prompting the exodus among left-leaning
citizens who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with
Bill O’Reilly.
Canadian border farmers say it’s not uncommon to see dozens of sociology
professors, animal- rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields
at night.
‘I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood
producer huddled in the barn,’ said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose
acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry.
‘He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken.
When I said I didn’t have any, he left. Didn’t even get a chance to show
him my screenplay, eh?’
In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences,
but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare
Rush Limbaugh across the fields. ‘Not real effective,’ he said. ‘The
liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn’t
give milk.’
Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near
the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves.
‘A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions,’ an Ontario
border patrolman said. ‘I found one carload without a drop of drinking
water. ‘They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though.’
When liberals are caught, they’re sent back across the border, often
wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumors have
been circulating about the Bush administration establishing reeducation
camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch
NASCAR races.
In recent days, liberals have turned to sometimes-ingenious ways of
crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus
trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a
half-dozen young vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration
authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers on Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney hits to prove they were alive
in the ’50s.
‘If they can’t identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we
get suspicious about their age,’ an official said.
Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating
an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies.
‘I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can’t
support them,’ an Ottawa resident said. ‘How many art-history majors does
one country need?
Susan, Please tell me where this link is you keep talking about.
Rod? Where do you find this stuff?
Is Castro alive or dead? He hasn’t been seen in a while.
Rod–
I believe there was a National Assembly today where Chavez recognized the FARC as not being a terrorist group-(off the list as a terrorist group) just as a belligerent group– And -No relations with the US was also discussed- One of the comments made referring to this FARC is how Chavez now wants to have these guys in Venezuela as to make this a territorial and political refuge for the guerrillas of Colombia- So if he goes down, he has his back up–
Daniel left me the link to this– and I posted a couple questions about this— hopefully, he sees these–

I’m back. I suppose everyone’s gone to bed by now…I’ll be here for an hour though, in case anyone’s up.
Karen, yeah, Susan sent me that. I just had to share
-Rod-
Great Adam!
I wish all the things he is doing now with the Terrorist called FARC will open the mind of many people to see who really is Mr Hugo Chavez….He hates Bush but not the money he expenses from the oil that US buys…..what a contradiction!!! money has no friendsssssssssssss, no religion, no political parties, no reason, no culture, no ideologies, no anything…
I would prefer 1000 times that US invades that living under Chavez government……..
Great work…
Karen, (This wouldn’t post in the other thread. NOTHING would post. So…)
Re, the oil: I could be both you know…correct AND a nut
It does make sense though. I have this feeling that US Geologists have plotted out oil fields in the US that may rival what’s in the Middle East. It only makes sense that oil distribution worldwide should be fairly uniform. Given the economic, industrial and political impact oil has had on our civilization, some forethinking bureaucrats and politicians may well have decided that it would not be in the US’s long-term strategic interests to sit here and use up our own resources. If the supply really is finite (meaning, if the Earth truly does not keep replenishing the supply over time) then it would make sense for us to use what we could buy, saving our own for a rainy day. A VERY rainy day. It’s only a theory. -Rod-
how can this be. I thought as a communist he wants to help and not pollute his county and the world.
Adam-
aparently Mario Silva and his show “La Hojilla” has been seen your reports and has ask for your expulsion from my country
“En el curso del mismo programa también pidieron expulsar de Venezuela al corresponsal de Fox News, Adam Housley, que se encuentra en el país haciendo una serie de reportajes y ha emitido comentarios donde implica a Chávez en la tolerancia con el tráfico de drogas a través de Venezuela”
Daniel,
Does your local TV deny the content of Adam’s reports?
Karen T…have ever seen any of the documentaries on the harbors and the docks around the US? To think that the drug shipments could ever be stopped is a fairy tale. In my opinion, we are no safer or more protected now, than we were pre 9-11. Which is terribly sad considering the amount of dollars that have been spent to “protect” all of us.
My office is a piece of Homeland Security…way, way down the line, and also emergency management. The money is insane. It’s handed out like candy, for example…we have approx 4-5 thousand in our county, and we have 10,000 needles and syringes in storage…FOR??? and what do you do with them when the expiration dates are past???? We have 200 gas masks….duh…..so its first come first serve??? And as we talked about one other time on here with Avi…the cartridges go bad after a while, so those 200 aren’t any better off then the rest. Its crap like that, sitting in storage, doing no one any good. That is just a very small example. I can not imagine what it is like in the big cities. Do not expect the govt to keep you safe! It’s not going to happen because they don’t have the means to do it.
Rod or Derek has said somewhere, that because they can hunt to survive, they will survive, and they weren’t kidding. If anyone in the states thinks that the gov’t will “save them”, good luck! I for one, can do a squirrel, like Huckabee is getting so much crap for in the press. That’s because those in NY and other cities are so frickin spoiled, they have no idea what survival means. (not you Adam by any means) Not that I am not spoiled, believe me, hubby doesn’t call the me “the princess” for no reason. But I can i go get a rabbit if need be, to keep myself alive!
Karen2-
I don’t know goverment TV is almost unwatchable, and “la hojilla” is the worst there is, so i genrally don’t watch it.
Probable they just disregard the content of Adam’s reports as part of imperialist media conspiration against the ‘revolution’. Also the probably call mr. Housley as a CIA agent
Adam,
Hugo Chávez has asked the international community to remove the label “Terrorists” to FARC. He’s trying to give political momentum to this terrorist organization, to the point that the National Assembly in Venezuela just yesterday, recognized both, FARC and ELN as “legitimate armies” with a “Bolivarian project that is well respected in Venezuela”, said Chávez. Soon there will be FARC offices in Caracas and what not. We are very worried about this situation. I recommend, for those who have the patience, to check out this article and the discussion below it in the Washington Post.
We just hope that Washington doesn’t fail us. Chávez is a big threat to Latin America and America and the stability in the region.
My biggest concern now is with the presidential elections in the US and control of the Senate by the Democrats. Obama has said repeated times that he would stop military aid to Colombia. Nancy Pelosy keeps having meetings with Piedad Córdoba, the Colombian congresswoman biggest ally to Chávez. Democrats are playing with fire in an irresponsible way.
Kind regards and keep up informing the world of what’s going on in Venezuela.
Ricardo.
Thats interesting Ricardo. I never have been a fan of Pelosi.
Ricardo.
thank you for the post. I am no fan of the far-left dems, either. But, did not know about Obama’s and Pelosi’s positions. Wow!
Patty: Thanks. My apologies for misspelling Pelosi’s lastname. I’m trying to follow the political debate in the US and believe when I say that Democrats are playing with fire. Read the article in the WP and you’ll see what I mean. The so called ‘expert’ says so many lies and tells so many fallacies that there are already more than 200 comments against his article, even from people that dislike Bush.
The point is that Democrats are doing ANYTHING they can to distance themselves from Bush because that’s what will bring them votes, no matter how erratic and dangerous those positions might be.
Regards.
Hello all,
You guys are certainly full of spirit. Am I the only perosn on the left here on this blog? I was just wondering this, because I am feeling outnumbered and with a sense of un balance.
Is being on the left really so bad? If it is, then maybe it should be banned from the the United States?
Once Chavez steps down, will every one be happy with a right wing president, perhaps someone like a Pinochet? Would there be reporting on him and his association to drug cartels?
I would really love to challenge Adam to do a piece on me and my thoughts as an American living abroad in Latin America, with my left leaning views.
So, what else are we going to debate today my friends?
Respectfully,
Gringo
———————EVERYONE WHO WAS INVOLVED IN THE ZOO INCIDENT———————
As a side— everyone who was involved with the Tatiana incident– go over to Greta’s– there is a update on what happened at the zoo– and the boys are not little angels—- check it out!
Patty………..Agreed, and as much as I hate to admit it………..we need to take care of our own inept government before we can even begin to think about tackling on another nation’s problems. We are still a powerfull country, but we’re starting to crumble from within………….if that’s not fixed, and fixed soon, we’ll all be hunting squirel soon.
Ricardo, no apologies needed. My fingers dont always do what my head tells them either!
Ive always thought Pelosi to be as crooked as a winding road, but i also dont follow politics well enough to argue/debate them. If i stay too involved then i end up being pissed, and thats not a good thing.
Mr Adam Housley,
thanks for the report. Be careful, there are people who follow Hugo “Ego” Chavez blindly, and will try to stop you and your crew from reporting about this very important issue, which is of high concern, not only to the US, but to the Americas and Europe. In fact, on thursday night, Ms. Eva Golinger (a citizen of the US who loves Chavez and his twisted 21th century revolution), requested that you and your team be declared “persona no grata” and consecuently be expelled from Venezuela(http://www.noticierodigital.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=327482). Hopefully that will not happen, but in bizarro Venezuela anything is possible. Stay alert!
What you are reporting on is just the tip of the iceberg. People, both privately and publicly, have long speculated about the influence of the Chavez’s goverment on the drug traffic across Venezuela. Names of Venezuela’s cartels have surfaced: Cartel del Sol, and Cartel de los Generales, both with possible ties to the government, and guerrila movements in Colombia (FARC and ELN). These two groups operate not only in Colombia, but also in Venezuela, and with the new political status that the Venezuela’s National Assembly (Chavez’s puppets) gave them, will move (themselves and their precious cargo) through the country at will. Very dangerous indeed!
This is a very complex issue, and I am sure the Venezuelan goverment will not help you to get to the bottom of things. So, lots of luck to you amigo (and your news team), be careful, enjoy your stay in Venezuela, and enjoy the arepas. Joe, Washington DC.
Geez Susan,……….now my eyes hurt. Some of us have been updating our own tiger blog below………….
Ricardo–
There were a couple links left by Daniel yesterday in regards to the National Assembly– I read them and what you wrote is what I read—
Chavez is referring to FARC- as a belligerent group– and it was noted by some of the comments left on the article– he wants to use Venezuela as a refuge for the guerrilla group of Colombia– and the commentators are very nervous—
very interesting to read–
http://www.noticias24.com.
phew John…thanks, i thought maybe i was the only one that can see that happening. When you work “inside” as i do, even though it is very far down the line, it is so maddening. To think the billions spent with Homeland security and we have no real security!! Too many depts vying for control, too many secrets from one to the other dept. I only see a small piece of it, i truly can not imagine how serious it is so much higher up.
John–
did you see the latest on the Tatiana incident? or you read it? I just saw it on Greta’s–
You guys really hate us so much on the left huh?
Gringo
John– you can imagine how my eyes felt yesterday– these wonderful people here posted so many links in spanish– I spent hours reading and with the dictionary in my lap– I try to show off with my spanish but let the truth be known– I have to use the dictionary because some of the words just fly right over the top of my head-
Did you read about Pasto, Colombia– a volcano just went off?
Gringo,
I haven’t read all the comments on this post -it’s an overwhelming number- and perhaps you feel outnumbered and all that, but the problem is not whether you are a left-winger or not. You have all the right to be so and I’m sure people here respect your opinion. The problem with Chávez is that he’s openly supporting a terrorist organization. He supports, in other words, the option to take power by force, something that I’m sure you totally disapprove.
That’s why I recommend you read the discussion in the WP, because most of them are left-leaning people that disapprove the author’s take on the Colombian issue and Chávez support for this terrorist organization. That’s simple honesty and one can always respect that; even if you are a far-left winger that thinks governments should have control over private property and means of production.
I cannot imagine, a Democrat even implying that the US is a terrorist country or that Al-Qaeda should be removed from the list of terrorist organizations because they have a “political project.” Or do you think Al-Qaeda doesn’t have one?
Honestly, I think this is very dangerous and I wish people in the US were better informed about this issue. The problem is that politicians in the US pay thousands of dollars to guys like the one in the WP to get their advise on Latin American issues. And that’s very worrisome.
Kind regards.
Gringo–
If you are looking for hate– you are on the wrong blog–
we may taunt you but I speak for myself– hate, is something I don’t practice with bloggers who I
can’t see– now tell me you beat your kids and animals, and you will hear me say I hate you- lol

Adam-
aparently Mario Silva and his show “La Hojilla” has been seen your reports and has ask for your expulsion from my country
“En el curso del mismo programa también pidieron expulsar de Venezuela al corresponsal de Fox News, Adam Housley, que se encuentra en el país haciendo una serie de reportajes y ha emitido comentarios donde implica a Chávez en la tolerancia con el tráfico de drogas a través de Venezuela”
_______________________________________________________________________-
Buenos dias Daniel-
Adam has a newspaper article– La Hojilla written by a lawyer who clearly expressed her disdain for Fox and Adam– if you are curious– click on Adam’s links to Hugo– I believe it was in December when Adam posted this article– and I got to translate it-
It is worrying me too about Adam’s presence there– as if it is easy to incarerate people who disagree with Chavez, thanks to Alfredo’s link he posted last night, why would it not be easy to do something to Adam and his crew–I hope he has left—
lots of news about Venezuela, both english and spanish.
http://www.11abril.com/index.asp
Amen Susan!
Susan………I heard about that volcano……First Ecuador, now Columbia, something’s brewing down below and it ain’t good. I read about Tatiana earlier this morning on Foxnews.com (I think)…….Still can’t get my computer to converse in Spanish……..but I picked up one of those Spanish speaking cell phones from Verizon this morning. I can’t figure out how to program it though…….the directions are in Japanese.
Patty– I knew you were in with me on that comment–
Alfredo–
it is a desmadre there– now Chavez thinks Bogota has a plot going on to kill him? Lord– this man is getting whackier as the day gets longer– I am so afraid for the people there–
Adam– where the hell are you?
Patty… that’s very disheartening to hear. And, no, I haven’t seen any shows like that so I don’t have an underrstanding how they dock and unload their shipments.
So let me get this straight… we can stop little old ladies at the gate of a terminal but we’re having difficulty checking cargo because inaccurate shipping logs. That just blows my mind.
I hear what you’re saying about protecting ourselves.
Alfredo–
I am reading your link–
Karen T– And you can’t even carry more than one ounce of shampoo? while flying -what the (expletive)
Karen T….yep, that is how bad it is. I have not seen anything “safer” since 9-11. We were probably more safe prior in my opinion.
which is fine with me– I can steal the free shampoo while staying at a hotel and their soap too– less to pack and more to steal- lol
John–
you are so frigging funny– Japanese—- way to go–
How is your friend in Ecuador- did he get the hell out of Dodge?
Granny can’t carry on her preperation H, but all the other *ssholes can walk right on! Should be a new motto for the airlines! *L*
Working on taxes and some other bs that …ya well, that doesnt matter
Sorry, im crabby today
Well, I like blogging with you guys because I do not wish to “sing to the choir” by just blogging with other folks from the left. So, Chavez “supports” terrorist organizations? Well, I respectfully disagree.
The United States supports Saudia Arabia and it is well known that their government has supported terrorist organizations that have actually attack the US and it´s interests. Where is Adam´s reports on this? I would think we would need to be focused on governments that support groups that have actually attacked the US on our soil rather than the one´s who have not. that is just my thoughts. I could be wrong of course, and I am certain someone will tell me I am soon enough.
I don´t know if Chavez supports the idea of taking power by force. that is certainly not how he came into power and it is certainly not how he intends to stay in power, because he has agreeded to step down. He is not even permited to run for re election according to the constitution. Which is ok. He agrees with this. Not exactly forcefull huh?
His administration was taken by force by the opposition in Venezuela a few years ago. It is also common knowledge that Spain and the US might have been behind it, or at the very least supporting it. I don´t remember Chavez being as anti Bush (Not Anti American as some claim) as he is now, before that coup.
That is probubly why he is full of anomosity towards the Bush administration (Again, not America) and the even the King of Spain, who really should not have been permited to participate in that meeting of elected officials, when he told Chavez to clam it. Elected officials are one thing..old monarchs are something else.
Cheers,
Gringo
Chavez reveals a plot to kill him every month or so… is just a way of distracting atention
Ricardo… I don’t want Pelosi anywhere near Columbia, Venezuela, Iraq, Iran or around anyone that represents them. She needs to stay home and bake cookies. I hope there are transcripts for any meetings she has been involved with.
Poor John…here ya go http://www.google.com/translate_t
Susan…yeah, they’re back home safe………they left a few days earlier than scheduled because of the volcano threat. He told me it was a little unnerving……..especially when the local scientists and geologist are saying things like. “Wow, we’ve never seen that volcano do that before”.
Daniel,
Was Pat Robertson´s assaination suggestion a year or so ago just a way for Chavez to divert atention from something?
Gringo
Daniel–
I call that stirring the pot– the man is a paranoid– from the word go— he needs to lay off the coca paste- go into an insane asylum and learn how to drool from both sides of the mouth! and write his images on the walls- preferably with toxic crayons made from China—-
Rod… the best we can hope for is that by time that scenario happens, we are fully reliant on alternative energy. Why did Congress give American Car makers 25 years to make all their vehicles with better gas mileage? That tell me that these alternatives will not be in existance for at least 25 years. Otherwise it would be pointless to set a 25 year term. They would set it lower knowing that in a few years after that we would have alternatives and the gas mileage thing would be obsolete.
Thanks Patty………..I hope it translates curse words too……..that way the moderators may not pick up on them and delete the post……….Bloggers beware, here comes the new John………Juan.
John—
I bet some people are wearing diapers right now– in Pasto–
WHERE THE HELL IS ADAM?
Gringo–
since you are in cahoots with Chavez– go see if Adam is ok-
Yeah, the US REALLY needs to stop making those Arabs rich everytime they fill up their SUVs.
Gringo
Gringo… it wouldn’t matter if Chavez was replaced by a leftist or a right winger. Chavez is neither of them either. He doesn’t even fall into the category of socialist. He is simply a dangerous man in all aspects. Anyone who does not have extreme views right/left should be better than he is for that country.
Oh, and you never responded to yesterday’s debate. You left, quickly.
Johnny be good!
Or is that jaunny? *LOL*
Pinche Juan–
a ver si el moderator agarra mis majaderias–
let’s see if the moderator picked up on my bad word– don’t worry about the cuss words– you have me here– and I am proud to say– I am good at cussing in español
Chavez is Chavez…plain and simply evil.
Gringo, you are preaching to the wrong choir!
Susan,
Please, I am not in “cahoots” with anyone. I am certain Adam is fine and he is not in any danger as some have speculated. If something does happen to him from the government, I will become a Rush fan…and I don´t mean the band.
Gringo
Gringo-
pat robertson assaination suggestion was ridicul and is not a plot to kill him.
Chavez has talk about assasination plot against him repeatedly, sayng his has proof of then and never realed a single one. Including a ridiculous over the top one when they say they have captured a man in a beach in the night with a bazooka, a cell phone, and a picture of chavez and the presidential plane an that the man was going to blow the plane when havez arrie from and internationa journey that day
Patty,
The term was “singing” to the choir…not preaching. If I wanted to express my views to people who already agree with me, that would be singing to the choir. If you feel I am “preaching to the wrong Choir” than that would mean you do not wlecome different oppinions.
Is this what you are saying? Would you like me to go? If you all wish for me to stop participating here, I will respect that and not come back.
Respectfully,
Gringo
John–
There is a message for you on the newspaper thread…
Or do you have journalist burn out too?
Maybe Adam finally got that interview he wants and he’s tied up
signed -pun intended.
Daniel,
So your telling me that this tele-evangalist now preaches ridicule?
Gringo
Well– where the hell is ADAM?
Gringo, you know Patty did NOT insinuate for you to leave.
The idea of this debate is for you to give us your view points and allow us to give you ours. Personally I am enjoying the challenge of getting you to at least recognize that Chavez is doing more harm than good.
Gringo–
tele- evangelists are a whole new subject– I stay away from them–
Maybe Adam is hitting the next country – he had two new ones–
KarenT,
the reason Congress gave the auto industry so much time is due to lobbying – auto and union. The American auto industry is hanging on by a thread – due to all the bad decisions made in the past with the unions. They unions, in effect, bit off the hand that fed them.
There is no true incentive to find alternative sources. It appears to me, everyone wants it funded by the Government. I do no understand this….other than the fact it could cost millions to do the research, trials, and then getting it approved by the Government. And, then as soon as it is made public, the idea is stolen by China and reproduced at cheap prices and the genius’ that came up with the idea, spent their time and money reap $0.
Sorry to be so pessimistic.
Gringo, i purposely use the word “preaching”, because that is what you are doing.
Right vs left has no merit with Chavez or any evil entity, everyone knows that.
If you came here thinking that you were either going to anger us or change our views, you were wrong. There is a definite difference between good debate and debate that spreads hate. From the time i have been on Adam’s blog and the people that i have met, I can say that none of us spread hate. So if that is what you were looking for then ya, you can say i might have insinuated that you leave. But your keyboard is your choice and so is mine! That’s one of the nice parts about being from the USA and a democracy!
A request was made in another thread that, in Adam’s absence, I update you on stories that Adam has been covering and I know are very dear to his heart………..OJ and Britney.
AP is reporting that OJ is facing possible misdemeanor handgun charges following an incident last night in a Miami hotel room. Apparently OJ mistook himself in the mirror for one of the co-defendents in his upcoming trial in Las Vegas, when entering the bathroom in his room. Taking the Sin City judges order quite seriously this time about not being able to be seen with any co-defendents, he brandished a Colt .45 ( not the malt liquor ), yelled several explitives and fired two shots………..both missed………unluckily.
ET reported that Britney is still wandering around LA looking for the courthouse. Dazed and confused she entered an all night clothing botique instead and sepnt nearly $10,000………….it was not disclosed what she purchased, but we know one thing she didn’t buy………….underwear.
Next report…….whenever I feel like it.
Well.. thank you Very much for this report (and to all of you for your comments)… the world has to see who this crap is.. (I mean the so-called president).. Its amazing how still so many people are not aware of what is REALLY happening here.. and support him, still enchanted by his spell-words. (all lies)
Now I want to let you all know.. that a “so called” (by herself) American journalist (i even doubt she’s really born American) named Eva Gollinger, paid by the communist govt of Chavez is claiming for Adam Housley to be expelled from the country.. because his article “is full of lies and falsities” (is that a journalist and writer who says the same meaning with 2 words in a same short sentence?)
Anyway.. I’ll copy part of what she said (in her Spanish with fake American accent – and i’m not the only one who has noticed that)
“Eva Gollinger recordó que el presidente Chávez emitió un decreto que especificaba que cualquier periodista que viniera a Venezuela a decir mentiras sería declarado “persona no grata” y expulsado del país. Ella solicitó aplicarle el decreto al periodista de FoxNews. ”
(transl: E.G. remembered that the president C. placed a decree that specified that any journalist who come to Venezuela to say lies will be declared “persona non grata” and expelled from the country. She requested to apply that decree to the FoxNews journalist”.
Now I ask.. who should be declared “persona non grata”?. who speak out and show the truth of our country to the world, or the INVADERS from Cuba and other nationals … like supposedly this woman, and Oliver Stone, and Sean Penn and the disaster of Naomi Campbell, and Danny Glover and Lula, and the Kirchner family (raised 160% their personal income last year!) and Ortega, and Evo Morales (grrrr) and many others.. who only suck money from C. (and from Venezuela) that is NOT his money, but Money from government, that he wants to own and rule as if it was his farm!, we’re talking about a whole country.. about 25mm of people, where around 20mm live in poverty ! and this number is raising..
What about the Antonini case in Florida?.. corruption..! and why he’s in protection of the FBI?.. DRUG MONEY!..
well that’s the main income of this government.. is not oil.. Oil industry here is collapsed.. this govt destroyed it with its lack of brain.. their numbers to the world are all false (as any other communist regime have done in history!).. so from where is getting rivers of money to pay all the international Lobbies?.. and these actors and directors, and all the media (Reuters by instance?) and to pay entire governments (Bolivia, Argentina, Nicaragua) and to finance completely Cuba? (well their leaders, their people see nothing, same as here)..
The saddest thing is that its obvious that the governments of the world KNOW all this.. they have their secret intelligence services.. but why they don’t act?.. because they also receive money… its sad but it is as it is.. and the most important is that Bush govt does know about this.. all this word fight is just a theater… under the table Bush administration is receiving mountains of money.. on the disguise of Oil companies dealings (or Halliburton working on the oil industry)…
anyway.. my goal is not to attack Bush Admin. already has a lot to deal with the world.. my goal is to let you all know that we are aware here of what is going on.. (at least the ones who wants to think and see beyond and read under the lines).. but every day… every single day I see and hear more and more poor people bashing this government, claiming they were used and that they lied to them… claiming that we have to get this clown out of the presidency.. and I DO live in a poor area in Caracas, to the southwest of the city.. (but I studied and work hard to have what i have and learnt what i’ve learnt)…
My greetings to you all and my thanks to Adam.. and please.. take good care.. you, as foreigner here.. as you might know.. are in danger with these government of assassins..
*LMAO* you dont know how badly i needed that laugh today!!
ooops sorry… that laugh was for john’s news flash
Gringo: Last referendum in Venezuela was a great defeat for Chávez but mark my words: he will not step down voluntarily. He has said that this was a “victoria de mierda” for the opposition and that he will seek reelection and his constitutional reform through other means, such as a new Bill that will be sent to Congress for approval, where he has almost total control. I’m very suspicious that it took so much time for the CNE (Consejo Nacional Electoral) in Venezuela to publish the results about the referendum. To this date, the only thing people know is that Chávez lost by a “close margin”, but do not know the final results. Rumors are that Chávez was furious that day and tried to force his victory, but Heinz Dieterich, his advisor, and Fidel Castro himself, advised him to accept his defeat and try by other means. If he hadn’t listened, Venezuela would have been in a Civil War today and Chávez out of office since many Generals in Venezuela would have played his game.
And it is true that Chávez does say, almost every month, that Colombian government and the US have a plot to kill him but he has never showed prove of his allegations even though he says he has recordings.
He resorts to Nationalism, attacks on different fronts -like the recent one to the democratic government of Colombia-, shows signs of megalomania, closed an independent TV channel in Venezuela, supports a Terrorist Organization that has concentration camps in the jungles, etc, etc. In other words, any resemblance to Hitler is not pure coincidence. Since you probably speak Spanish I suggest you read different newspapers from all over Latin America. I’m almost sure that wherever you live, it is not Venezuela.
Regards.
Escape from reality———–Just what I needed today!
Thanks John – awesome reporting!
Correction: I meant to say “many Generals in Venezuela would NOT have played his game”. I’m so hungry now that I’m eating my words.
Cheers.
Jen S…me too! Where ya wanna run off to..we can go together?
One of our dogs just got mauled by 2 other dogs roaming the nighborhood. Thankfully hubby’s bro was there to beat the other 2 off of him. He made it home, but we cant get near him in his house. He looks pretty tore up, but maybe its just superficial..we hope. Ive called the Sheriff, the Vet..just bs that i didnt need today:(
Its snowing more, and cold as hell. Taxes need attention, and at this point i dont give a d*mn.
Good thing i took today off from work to accomplish something!
So how’s your day? *L*
The video of chavez saying he chews coca paste every day.
Gringo, maybe you thing this is good. what is your comment about this?
Chavez recomends it to everybody.
no wonder Venezuela is a huge mess with this mentally ill man in power.
Thank God he has less supporters every day.
Imagine, poor with no food, poverty increasing 3,000,000 new poor, hundreds of homeless.
My family is there and I hear what they have to say.
rotten corrupt failure, fake, a lie, this revolution, is the worst nightmare, now we know all about it.
And believe me, you don’t want this inferno in the USA.
Patty–
she is on the tiger thread–
Patty,
I respect your beliefs. I suppose you respect mine. But I do not think I will change anyone´s pre concieved oppinions here and I know that. Everyone is so hopefullt that I will change mine though, but no one is open to even the possibility of changing theirs. I have mentioned that I could be wrong. I have said I open for changing my views, but you have made it clear that NO ONe here is willing to do that here, and for that, it is a shame.
You guys dislike Chavez. Fantastic.
You guys claim he is the worst, wonderfull. I do not share this oppinion.
You guys have facts upon facts upon facts about how bad he is, how terrible he is treating the poeple of his country and so on. I too have facts upon facts of how he is doing excellent things for his people.
The hate Chavez band wagon just seems a little too well rehearsed for me, that is all.
Gringo
Nenezuelan professional–
thanks so much for your post– thanks to you and your great Velezuelan friends here, I had a real eye opener yesterday– I read for hours- en español– hours- and I got more angry, sad, and depressed envisioning how the good people in Venezuela are feeling—
I am also very nervous about Adam’s presence– hopefully, he is headed off to another country at this moment– he had two more countries to cover- and he mentioned he was flying back this next week-so as we speak, I am PRAYING he is out of there—
RICARDO– VICTORIA DE MIERDA– que tiene este pinche estupido en la cabeza- puro mierda!!!!!
Ricardo,
If President Chavez does not step down when his term expires, I will chew all the coco paste you want.
Gringo
Con el pinche coraje que traigo- ya ni se escribir– Velezuelan professional– sorry
Gringo–
you are chewing coca paste– you think mierda Chavez is letting go?
Gringo… I personally dislike EVIL..not you or your notions..i cannot truly speak for anyone else here, nor do i want to. You are correct, I will not change my beliefs. I stand strong to the ground and my beliefs when evil is involved.
So Gringo–
the Venezuelans here who have posted various links supporting their arguments– where are your links?
error otra vez– Venezuelan professional– escribo con prisa cuando ando con coraje- disculpe
Patty–
Is your dog ok? I left the tiger thread– the arguments or debating have become redundant– I have only one opinion– TWO DEAD– and from the latest, the one brother is no angel– so I don’t excuse the negligence of the zoo but I will not condone the reckless thinking of the one brother or brothers– done with that—-
Just wanted to say Nora looks good, glad you filmed her awake!
I can’t help but wonder why the drug cartels have always been hand’s off as far as American military intervention is concerned. Foreign drug trade in the US has resulted in annual losses of billions of dollars in social care, enforcement, incarceration, hospitalization, and a failing work force.
This is actually a huge issue for America, but not one single candidate is speaking to the issue.
And except for Fox, who is covering this.
Also, Hugo Chavez is doing his best to squeeze the life out of America through our dependence on oil and his many trips to visit with member nations of OPEC, none of whom have our best interests at heart, and perhaps worse, see it as a method to hurt us. And it is.
Oil at $100.00 a barrel means gas at $5.00 a gallon. THAT’s why we are heading into a recession.
Gringo–
don’t even bother to read anything– check out the pictures who were incarcerated because they begged to differ with Chavez— is there like no thing like the First Ammendment there? How would you like it if one of just snagged you out from this computer and threw you in a cell because you disagreed with us?
http://www.venezuelaawareness.com/
Susan…i dont know, we can’t get close to him
I worry more about him being in shock than anything, but the vet will stop by in a bit and will have something to help him. At least he is warm on the south side of the house. His dog house is surrounded with bales of hay, so he wont get chilled thats for sure. The sheriff was going to see if he can figure out where the dogs actualy belong, if they dont belong close by, he will probably dispose of them. There are way too many little kids running around to have 2 wild dogs like that loose
Patty–
I would have totally freaked out– there are loose dogs here– by the ditch– I carry my bat with me- when I walk my dog now- but dogs then- The old El Mirage- little Mexico, has the same customs as real Mexico– loose dogs and sometimes they wander over here by the new El Mirage-
Tomasa is so old now she can barely walk down to the end of the block– much less fight–
Thirty more minutes of blog– then work–
I am more sitting here checking to see if Adam is going to pop up– please–
May I share a story with you guys?
I am 35 years old. I am a caucasion from the states and have lived in Latin America for the past 5 years. I own a home here.
When I was in my early 20´s, I worked at a print shop in the states. My boss had an AM talk radio program on everyday called, “The Rush Limbaugh” show. He was not as popular then as he is now of course and I would imagine you all know who this man is, yes?
Well, I would listen to Rush everyday. I thought, “Wow, this guy is great! He really has a lot of good points.” I would continue to listen everyday until one day I realized, “This guy never says anything positive about anyone on the left at all”. I never imagined he had an agenda behind his program. Well, I continued to listen and realized a few things. The first was that all people on the left require special hate labels, such as “liberal” or ” bleeding heart liberal”. Now it has become “Global Warming fanatics” and “Far left loons”. I am used to it. We hear it, we don´t like it, but what can we do?
Real liberals are not exactly fans of those who attack those on the right either.
The next thing I realized was that Rush only said positive things about people on the right. He would say negative things about people on the right as well, if they did not tow the line of what the agenda was at that particular time.
But, Rush never said ANYTHING positive about the left. EVER. Only negatives. That is what woke me up. I started to realize this with many AM radio programs. Now the reason why most AM radio programs are mostly “right” based is simple, but the truth is very cold and negative about some on the left: Most people on the right are sucessful people, no question about it. This could come from either hard work, better opportunities or a good enviorment. It simply does not come from “working hard” alone.
Most people on the left are of the under classes. they have not been as sucessful as those on the right. So, they tend to be less informed and educated. Thus, they will listen to FM radio and music I would suppose.
I am trapped in this position of wanting to become sucessful (right) or going where my heart is (left).
What really struck a nerve with me is what occured in Chile back in 1973, when another socialist was elected by the people, President Salvador Allende. The CIA quickly funneled money into his opposition to prevent him from winning. He won anyway, twice, just like Chavez did.
Most business did not subscribe to his brand of socialisim and price freezes and establishing fair wages and so on. Most American business closed and notified the Nixon administration that this “Allende” needs to be taken out. So, in 1973, that is exactly what occured.
There was a bloody coup that was organized by the CIA. If anyone doubts the CIA´s involvement, even for a second, then I would like to offer some of that “O´Reilly Kool-Aid” to you
Over 3,000 people were either killed in the national stadium or exciled. This included Americans Charles Horman and Frank Terrugi. Some might rememeber this story from the film , “Missing” with Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek back in 1981?
Well, that is some of where I am comming from with my concerns about Chavez and how is he falling into the same trap. It is completely the same. History is repeating itself.
Repsepectfully,
Gringo
Susan, we are rural here. just outside of town. Very few neighbors close by. But we do have 4 houses in the mile across the road from us. We all have dogs, the 2 that attacked do not belong to any of the 4 or us. All of our dogs have always gotten along, no one knows where these other 2 came from. Its not uncommon to have dogs “dumped” around here. Don’t know why people think they have to do that. But we will not tolerate a dog that kills. One dog doesn’t have a chance when 2 gang up.
Adam, if you are still in Venezuela, here are a few suggestions to help you with your work:
* Find Leocenis Garcia, and Padre Palmar, from Reporte de Economia, and ask them about the possible link between Mr. Ruperti (a Venezuelan oil Tycoon) and the drug traffic aboard his supertankers (subcontrated to PDVSA). These two journalists have tons of information that they might be willing to share with you (since they oppose the Chavez’s regime nowadays), including a possible connection between Mr. Ruperti, PDVSA, and Franklin Duran and Carlos Kauffmann, listed owners of Venoco currently awaiting trial in Miami (The $800,000 suitcase case).
* Find journalist Rafael Poleo, from Revista Zeta, and ask him to help you obtain more information about the “secret” guerrilla movements in the western part of Venezuela and their influence in the drug traffic through the country. You’ll be surprised to find out that many high ranking venezuelan officials, including Mr. Rodriguez Chacin- new Minister of Interior, are aware of this highly irregular situation, and welcome it “with open arms”. Mr. Chacin, I’m sure you know, was the contact person between the FARC, and Chavez during the recent hostage release in Guaviare, Colombia. During the rescue operation, he told one guerrilla fighter that they (the chavista regime) are aware of their struggle, and to keep going that they will not be forgotten. A couple of days later Chavez asked for “status beligerante” for both FARC and ELN. Also, ask Mr. Poleo if he knows about the connection between Chacin, Ramiro Helmeyer (his old friend) and Alex del Nogal, (recently arrested in Italy on drug related charges). You will be surprised to find out how Chavez met Helmeyer and Del Nogal. It’s a long and very interesting story.
The bottom line is that, according to the reports, 300-400 tons (1/3 world’supply) of cocaine are moving through Venezuela. Thats a huge amount. Who is bringing it in , supposedly from Colombia, and how? Are these “secret” guerrilla forces involved? How is it being smuggled out of Venezuela and what elite groups are in charge? Tough questions, I’m sure.
I hope that you can find these journalists and that they are willing to give you information without being publicly attacked and humiliated. You see Mr. Housley, even though the chavista goverment claims that there is freedom of information in Venezuela, you’ll find that it is a big lie.
Good luck, Joe, WDC
Gringo… #1 mistake… AM radio!
need i say more?
I do not believe in labels….liberal, left, right, demo, repub, its all just plain nonsense! I believe right is right, wrong is wrong. Plain and simple. I belive there is a higher power, (wether you call him God or whatever you want to call him, doesnt matter to me). My fmaily comes first and foremost in my world. I look out for my neighbors and friends, I help where i can, $$’s in my pocket mean nothing if i would have to stab some one in the back to get it. I know that my world has sucked at times, but i also know that i dont have to look far to see others suffering more. I miss our daughter more than anything in the world, but her spirit is always close by.
There, you pretty much have what makes me…me.
Susan,
Are you calling me out?

Patty,
Thank you sharing your story. Has your daughter passed away?
Gringo
About Farc.. that’s another story (but somehow part of all the same ‘masterplan’.)..
Farc as the world should know by now.. is a NARCOGUERRILLA movement.. they are not political.. they lost track of their ‘ideals’ in their beginning. used by narco leaders and since about 10 to 20 years used by Castro and cuban communism.. etc etc.. a lot has been said about them..
Why this govt. supports them?.. easy.. who carry the drugs in Colombian soil? who protects the fields and laboratories?.. get it?.. of course.. this govt. have opened the borders to them.. they are freely in our territory (Apure, Zulia, Tachira and even Merida states, of course his native state Barinas too) of course, states that have plenty of jungle and are border with Colombia..
This govt. has to protect this terrorist group because they work for him (Ch…z, i don’t even mention his name).. for 3 purposes basically.
1: Farc assure the movement of the tons of drug from Col. to Ven. in the hands of this armed terrorist group (remember the thousands of AK-47 and other weapon Ch. govt bought in the past years? u think was for our army? what a joke! where are the submarines he bought to Russia? why govt didn’t use them to search for the plane that fell into the caribbean 2 weeks ago? maybe they’re transporting drug from La Guaira to Florida, or to Spain or France?)
2: Farc is his ‘dream’ of army.. nothing but guerrilla according to the lessons from Cuba -Castro and Che ideals-.. guerrilla is all they want and dream of an army. That’s why he’s slowly dismantling and destroying our Armed Forces… placing highly corrupt guys on its command chairs and getting out all the ‘good guys’.. by accusations, jail, making them fly out of the country, or simply through faked robbery assassinations (of course ’sicarios’ paid by govt.. and trained by who?: Farc)
3. Farc is the stone on the shoe for Colombia. And Colombia is the stone on the shoe for Ch..z. Why? because in the master plan of the mummy of the Caribbean.. that is to control all southamerica with their stupid castro-communism (back to the feudal ages where one single person ruled all the lands as he wished for his private benefit).. well right now they have Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Ecuador, and even Chile, and now Nicaragua -again- .. all under the so called “Socialism” governments.. DON’T CONFUSE SOCIALISM WITH THE REAL SOCIALISM LIVED IN SCANDINAVIA, AS AN EXAMPLE.. the so called socialism in South America is nothing but consumism with the destroying of the real social welfare programs for people, instead of giving them only shreds. (is not really even communism though all the power falls into one pair of hands and all the power of the people is removed in favor to the group ruling the govt.)
Their master plan is to control everything in Latinoamerica..so.. which is the most important country about economy and politics not controlled yet?.. Colombia! and of course it means a lot.. all the riches from Colombia (that we also have but not produced, indeed industries are destroyed).. all the industries.. and of course the clandestine Drug production… SO…. the role of FARC is to keep the armed conflicts there, the inner war, to keep Colombian govt and army busy there.. to try to break in into Colombian Govt…
What is the stage on this Theater now? well.. after the ’so called’ liberation of the hostages (clearly suffering from Stockholm syndrome, and both coming from leftist parties and ideals).. Ch..z gained ‘recognition’ and he’s using this to declare to the world that Farc are ‘angels’. that they’re not a terrorist group (yesterday our crap of congress approved a decree to remove the terrorist name to Farc and ELN and named them ‘Belligerent political groups’ -or something like that-).. Ch..z wants desperately that Farc are recognized as a political group in Colombia.. so then he can make his movement to get them into the political run in Colombia (through $$$) to break and tear down the strong Colombian government, and gain Colombia to his personal project (you still believe Castro is alive?)..
What i still don’t really understand is how Sarkozy (French president) is supporting (silently) this crap maybe $$$ ?.. here is openly said next movement is to liberate Ingrid Betancourt (the colombian woman who was kidnapped when she was presidential candidate, guess? by a leftist party), but Farc asking to France in exchange the liberation of Carlos “el Chacal” (why his name is again since some weeks on the news?). (remember el Chacal is relative to PDVSA -oil company- president and minister of oil and energy).
What is the purpose to all of this?.. is not only drugs.. drug dealing is just a way to get to his purpose that is to rule in all Latinoamerica.. as if it was a single huge farm for his own.. He has already shown maps and has talked about the “Cuban-Venezuelan Federation ” or called VeneCuba.. is not a lie.. is not just a story.. he have presented maps on his tv show showing Cuba as another state of Venezuela.. and even flags have been seen somewhere.. what the F**ck is this?.. and no word from the armed forces.. and no word from international organisms..
But somehow i trust in God and I trust in the ‘anger’ of the poor people here that are awakening and are tired of the donations of millons of green $$$ to other countries to build houses, hospitals, schools, when here he has not yet rebuilt Vargas state (as example) after the disaster in 1999 and so many homeless people increasing number.. (where are those millions and millions of $$ given by different countries in that moment?)
.. i don’t say we’ll have a civil war.. it will be months or weeks of strong riots.. because the confrontations we’ll witness in any moment.. will be of venezuelans needing to restore our lives against the CUBANS installed in our country and the venezuelans who have renegaded of our country calling themselves communist and followers of castro and che..
sad
anybody remember Cuban invasion to Angola? and to other countries?
again: thanks Adam to open this window to express our views and fears and ideals.. and thanks to everyone for your support.
Gringo, yes, our daughter died in a motorcycle accident when she was 18.
k2, I appreciate the lesson… I am learning a lot on this blog… the more I learn the more I realize that government is not working. We need businesses to do their job, their Incompetent and they’re bringing this country to a stand still, may times making it dangerous for us.
Gringo–
I never listen to Rush– so I can’t say anything about that– he just annoyed me– big mouth– like Howard Cosell- different reporting– abrasive personalities
For me this is not about how the elections were done, Salvador Allende, or what and who is funneling– this is more about the character of the individual- and from my perspective, from reading not just the links here but other articles, Chavez is not someone who I would have over for dinner—
This man clearly does not believe in human rights– it is about power- control- financial gain- he is defined by most definitions- a paranoid–
If he were to come in here and read the comments, all of our asses would be hauled off to a cell and you would be here talking to yourself—
simple as that—
A “venezuelan professional” who dislikes a socialist President.
There is a shocker.
Gringo
Adam…you have been MIA a long time

You better leave a short note, you know the natives get restless when you arent here
and I really dont think you want me, susan and jen to come looking for you! he he he
Although John has done a good job keeping us informed of the news you hate to miss. he he
Susan…can we share the cell? I know it would never be dull then!
Attention Professional in Venezuala:
3. MYTH: Chavez supports narco-trafficking.
REALITY:
The US Congressional Research Service Report for Congress states: “Despite friction in US-Venezuelan relations, cooperation between the two countries at the law enforcement agency level continues to be excellent, according to the State Department’s 2003 International narcotics Control Strategy Report.
Respectfully,
Gringo
Susan…i thought you were going to work.
I need to fire my secretary here at home…she really is worthless today! *LOL*
A venezuelan professional trying to survive in her country
Thanks for letting us read that!
Gringo… we’re not buying that quote unless we see the entire article, know where that statement was made and the date. Back it up.
Patty–
I am going to work– I have the court thing at 1:00– and I am already clean- I have been putting on my make-up and blogging– now I just have to clean Ken up- do the insulin and lunch–
Court is ten minutes away– and then I have to head into Phoenix– so I will be out all afternoon-
Gringo-
thanks for your so insightful link– I have changed my mind now-
Venezuela has joined in many cooperative relationships in South America and the Caribbean. Following the examples of nineteenth-century Latin American liberators Simón Bolívar and José Martí, Chavez has promoted an all-inclusive Latin American “great homeland” (“patria grande”).
Let me tell my Cuban friends, Cuba is a cool place to go back too because Chavez, the nice man, is buddies with Castro, so this makes Castro a good man-
And I will personally write the incarcerated people to hang in there because Chavez is into human rights- and their incareration is a mistake- but once the right paper goes through, they will be released immediately.
And as for the allegations of cocaine leaving Venezuela, you are right- no such thing– the only cocaine the government sees is Chavez’s paste–
thanks so much—–
Gringo-

I came off the streets to serve as an interpreter for my neighbors- they were being sued– and the complainant did not have an interpreter- so we stipulated I would go only by the facts-unbiased- and I served as the interpreter for both parties- at the end of it, Judge D. offered me a job– and then I had an interview– and blah and blah–
It is just a few hours– on call- no big deal– just utility money-
Daniel–
Gringo says Chavez is being persecuted and prosecuted by us–
Once again– so if you only kill one person and another kills ten, the one who only killed one person is not a murderer because he did not kill ten as the other did?
last comment (sorry for the long previous ones)
Adam: listen to Joe tips.. excellent ones !!! and true.. Rodriguez Chacin, current Minister of interior affairs and Justice IS the direct contact between Chavez and Farc.. that means.. our inner affairs, security, registries, etc etc are in hands of Farc now..
to Gringo: have you ever lived in Petare here in Caracas? have you ever been in 23 de Enero here in Caracas, or El Valle, or Caricuao, or Antimano, or Cota 905, or Propatria, or La Vega, or any other area in Caracas on the Libertador municipality?.. have you ever been to the ‘cerros’? do you really know how people live here?.. i see them EVERYDAY from the window of the blocks apartment where I live.. and I’m not telling you a lie.. I hear everytime i have to take the bus people arguing, people from the ‘barrio’* having enough of the lies of Ch..z, with the ‘barrio adentro’ module closed when they needed a medicine, having to get up at 5 am in the middle of the cold night, with fear to be robbed or kill, to go to pick up a number in a file to be able to buy 1 or 2 lt. of milk? or 0.5 kg. of coffee? or 2kg or meat? in the ’social market Mercal? (meat and milk imported most of the time, local industry is destroyed).. is that fercking fair? is that the excellent social programs you talk about? what about hospitals.. closing units because they don’t have supplies… dead people in the hallways because the morgue is full?.. of people who died waiting for medicines or supplies for operations in the public hospitals? People who died travelling from hospital to hospital because they can’t be attended because they don’t have the supplies.. is that social benefits?..
schools falling down.. structures crumbling.. I do fear of the education and life of my own son because i don’t have money to pay a private school. He barely receive classes because professor don’t go, or because the school didn’t open, or whatever.. is that EDUCATION?.. the education program was changed.. where are the studies we had? on science? language? now all is by area.. and professor choose what to teach.. is that an education progam?.. Thanks God I try to complete my son education… Thanks God my parents could give me a good education when i was a child. But what about the millions that couldn’t and can’t have this ‘luck’ ? is that social programs?
you know what?.. My father was a strong chavist believer.. well last saturday he finally accepted he was wrong.. he exclaimed this words, a truth of the size of a pyramid of Egypt… “his own followers, the poorest people in this country will tear him down, this is unbearable, this cannot go on” and he does work in a govt. office.. and he still have his socialist ideas (really socialist, as we want our govt. to be.. with real benefits to the people, not shreds).
I encourage you to visit Petare, El Valle, La Vega, 23 de Enero, etc.. take just one afternoon walk.. of course.. go with someone else. don’t go alone because you might be robbed or even killed…
(( and this is not only Caracas, this happens in every corner of our country, only Caracas and major cities like Maracaibo or Valencia, have perfectly divided areas where poorest live and medium rich class live.. i don’t consider myself medium rich.. but in a gap between what is known as medium and poor class, so I know what are the difference very very clear ))
Gringo, that sounds like you’re in support of Chavez because the right opposes him, kind of like rebelling against your parents for the sake of being different, not opening your eyes to the facts.
But here’s the thing, it’s not just the right that opposes Chavez, the left does also. The left is not as stupid or poor as you’re indicating. They too have am radio stations that blast the conservative republicans and never have anbything good to say about them.
If you can set aside for a moment the political differences between left/right and tell us what Chavez has done in all these years that has been good for the country of Venezuela. Then allow us the opportunity to point out what Chavez has done to hurt the country of Venezuela.
Daniel and others,
please remember (and research) Hitler, Mussulini where both elected officials of their respective states. Elections are NO guarantee of freedom, only a well armed civilian population will prevent some two bit dictator from usurping constitutional power
Daniel: thankx for the numbered answers to that false article link !
Here is link for you (that can read spanish) to check out and comment on. It is supposed to be Ego Chavez during the referendum on dec 2, 2007. For those of you that dont know, Chavez has been rigging the elections in Venezuela since 2000. The elections now are done through electronic voting machines that can be programmed or tampered with to change the votes in favor of the Chavez regime. These machines and the fingerprint-matching machines make people afraid of exercising their right to vote. The goverment, with the help of the Consejo nacional Electoral, and some pro-chavez lawmakers have created black lists, like Lista Tascon, and Maisanta, who have names and identity numbers (Like SS numbers) of all those who oppose Chavez. If you are on such lists, forget about any jobs or goverment benefits for you and possibly your family. Even in the referendum of 2007, with so much at stake, there was an almost 40% abstention rate because of fears of a new list. If Chavez had won this referendum, 69 heavy-hitter articles would have been amended, changing Venezuela into a socialist-communist society, where Chavez would be president indefinitely.
But December 2, 2007 had a different political scenario. This time the students, who had been out in thousands protesting across the country months before the referendum, were out again, protecting the vote in most of the polling stations. This time it was very hard to cheat, it was very hard to change the intention and the will of the majority. The chavista regime knew it, and even though Chavez tried to put pressure on the electoral power, the result could not be reversed.
Chavez has publicly said that he will amend the constitution (to the way he wanted in december 2007) by other means…only time will tell.
Hope the link is no offensive to anyone…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnP2BV7St2A
Joe I watched the video, it was pretty intense, I couldn’t understand what was being said but I dd catch the word that flashed on the you tube screen, same word that was in Adam’s vieo above! hahahah
I got the idea though, the comparison between Hitler / Chavez.
BTW… what can you say about elections and referendum controlled by an electoral organism that is completely controlled by Ch..z?
don’t you remember who was the president of the past elections? Jorge Rodriguez.. and who was named VICEPRESIDENT in 2007 and leader of the only-one-can-exist- Commuist party (PSUV): Jorge Rodriguez..
and do you remember all the comments of elections made with electronic machines?.. controlled by who? again I ask? by who sorry?.. ahh Jorge Rodriguez again.. true!..
and… do you remember in this past elections, the referendum.. was in december right.. and after more than a month.. they have not yet published the final official results.. the 100%..
SO… transparent or tramparent electoral processes?.. I don’t even compare to Hitler reaching the bundesklanzer chair, or Mussolini.. in this case they had it all controlled..
from the Electoral registry (REP), viced and never audited, to the process itself during the voting (the machines previously prepared), the tint on the finger that was washable instantly with bleach or even vinegar, the millions of foreginers from bolivia, peru, colombia, cuba, africa given Venezuelan documents to be able to vote… etc etc..
is that elected democratically by the people? I DOUBT IT..
Chavez’s eulogy at Fidel’s near in the future funeral– he emailed it to me to see if I like it-
Friends, Cubans, countrymen, lend me your ears:
I come to bury Castro, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Castro.
For Castro is an honorable man;
So are they all, all honorable men,
Come I to speak in Castro’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But the United States says he was ambitious;
And Castro is an honorable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Cuba,
Whose ransoms did Fidel Casto’s coffers fill:
Did this in Castro seem ambitious?
When that the poor had cried, Castro hath wept.
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet the United States says he was ambitious;
But Castro is an honorable man.
sorry i meant.. bundeskanzler.. (chancellor in Germany, that was the position Hitler was elected and then he just named himself Führer grabbing all the power as president of the Nazi Germany)
sorry correction again: Reichskanzler , not Bundeskanzler..
A venezuelan professional trying to survive in her country -
thanks for your great insights– and thanks for sharing these with us– these are excellent-
I have learned so much thanks to all you great people who are trying to survive in Venezuela–
I am looking forward to reading more of your posts as well as the others when I get back-
P.S It shames me to accept how little I know—
Thanks for the support.. its a shame that we who oppose this government don’t have enough windows in english (or other languages) to show the world what is really going on here.. instead government has a very well maintained and paid international lobby, almost in every language they have websites, newspapers and magazines praising the crap of Ch..z and communism.
this cost money, time and efforts not everyone have.. many people say there are so many that only ‘fight’ through the keyboard.. but then i wonder, what to do?.. i don’t know and don’t want to use a gun.. i hate guns.. i prefer to use words.. and as we already know.. then the world must know..
I’m going to have lunch now.. see you soon and thank you for the support..
Don’t worry Susan.. is not your fault.. its the international Media… that just cover the themes they want… (or they’re told to cover)..
see ya !
Karen,
It was from The US Congressional Research Service Report for Congress in 2003. It is public knowledge. I indicated that in my post. It WAS backed up. If you can not believe your own democracy, then I don´´t know what else I can do.
I must go now, but to the Professional in Venezuela:
No, I have never been to the areas you indicated you can see from your nice apartment, however,
I was not in Germany in 1939, but I kind of have an idea of what occured there as well.
You do not need to live somewhere to actually understand what is occuring there. Unfortunatly, the majority of the people here on this blog (Everyone but me) is majority a Chavez hater. So, I am sure there are Pro Chavez people out there (I mean “someone” elected him right?), but just not here.
See you all tommorrow…….I hope Adam can find at least ONE person that can express the other side and his stories are not just interviews of those who oppose Chavez.
He can always interview me…….
Respectfully,
Gringo
Joe—
I just watched the video from Chavez in Guatemala– me repugna– he is trying to get Guatemala’s oil– he states how Guatemala has all this oil and he will help set up refineries– Obvioulsy, he is trying to get control there too-
He mentioned Celaya and Ortega are friends—
Professional–
thanks—
Mr. Housley,
You must be doing something right since Chavez’s most disgusting lap dog, Mario Silva, is already asking for your head, that is, your inmediate expulsion of the country.
If I were you, I will finish my story with this affectionate demostration of love from them. You know, it says so much.
Regards,
-f
Is Chavez buddying up with Mexico? He just said he and Calderón are talking about petroleo?
Oh dear– the time– I have to go– I am listening to Chavez being rude to a reporter– she is wanting peace in Colombia– he is calling the US a cynic and the other countries who don’t agree with him– He is telling her how before she was born he was looking for guerrillas in Colombia- she is 30- an he is 53——now he is talking about Bush– he just called Bush a terrorist-
________________________________________________–
Adam– where are you– I can’t stay here for much longer—
Wow, this has got so long, it took me an hour to get through all the new posts! I can’t think of anything that’s not been said already.
Max..a lack of words?? No way!
What is going on with Mexico and Chavez? He had a positive conversation with Calderón–
I meant to say Zelaya and not Celaya–
Joe– thanks for the link
later
Mexico is not friendly with Chavez. President Calderon beat chavez candidate Lopez-Obrador in the elections. Calderon is from the right, and from the same party as Vicete Fox who have a fight with Chavez and Chavez call him “cachorro del imperio”
PS,
About call for Housley to be expelled from the country, also here: http://www.noticierodigital.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=327482
Patty: well anything i’d have to say was already said by someone else! Plus my head hurts.
We get the problem here where the local government keeps spending on projects not needed because if they don’t spend all their budget then they loose part of their budget the next year. They keep relaying the road. I’ve never seen a pot hole here, they replace the road surfaces well before they would get any problems, maybe once every 3 years. They keep replacing and repainting street lights too.
You go to some of the other districts in London and it looks like it’s been a few decades since they replaced the roads. It’s all screwed up.
Daniel–
last thought– I am going to get a ticket for speeding–
In other words, Chavez was bullshi**ing the reporter– he made it sound like he and Calderón are just having a great rapport-
gracias– hasta luego–
i didn’t see the report.
Chavez have very good economical relations with varios countries including the US, even if call bush terrorist and the devil and say everynow and then that they want to kill him. So whaever business he has with mexico and calderon doesn’t mean friendship
feathers–
I just read it–
SEGUN FOX NEWS VAN A REPORTAR TODA LA TARDE EN VIVO DESDE CARACAS Y VAN A DAR MAS INFORMACION..
AGARRATE CUBANO DE MIERDA!!!!!! — I think this was meant for Adam this last statement-
Adam– where the hell are you?
Daniel–
It was a link– and I watched and heard it–
Oh my Lord– I am soo late–
voy con prisa– saludos y abrazos
Max…sorry about the head
I get migraines, so i can sympathize.
Doesnt sound much different than here with the gov’t budgets. We have to spend ours down too or loose it. But we are way down the line.
Doestn make much sense, does it? Fix what doesnt need fix’in and leave what really needs the work.
Gringo those were good points, some of them.
I hope more Chavez supporters come on here. I would like to hear what they have to say.
I just want to add that I appreciate the information and the comments on here so very much. Thank you to all who have shared their stories. It is interesing to read the opinions on both sides.
Gringo…there is no reason you need to choose between success and following your heart, you can have both. I am mostly right by choice, I believe in conservative values as well as liberal views. I am successful in business and I believe in and give to charity. You just need to realize that there are a lot of people that live balanced, more middle of the road lives. Here is a laundry list of my beliefs, it will make some conservatives squirm and lots of liberals whine, but its how I feel, and the way I feel dictates how I will vote and who I give money to.
War…war is ugly, brutal, violent and costly..but sometimes neccesary.
Abortion…I hate it for convenience, but it can be neccesary
Government…less is more
Welfare…Our system is seriously flawed
Immigration…we are a nation of immigrants, but we need to secure our borders. We can implement a system where current illegals can become legal and we can monitor people coming in…I have a plan but it would take to much room here.
Gay marriage…I do not believe in legislating morality between consenting adults..if two gay guys wanna have tickle fight in their bedroom, I am cool with that as long as no children are involved.
Death Penalty…they did it? fry em
Sushi….delicious
$5.00 coffee….stupid
Taxes…fair tax
economy….capitalism
Flag burning…go for it, its free speech, but don’t complain when the national guard rescues you last in the next flood.
Government Corruption….its rampant on both sides
Gay guys in hot pants….wrong
Fat girls in tube tops…just as wrong
Environment….we NEED to invest in alternative fuel sources, we need more solar and wind generated power, I am also all for safe nuclear power, and storing the waste safely and properly.
Terrorism…there is only one way to deal with islamic militants, that is death, sorry no rehab, no life in prison, just death.
Some of these things are liberal but most are conservative, and I have alot of friends that feel exactly the same was, especially the really hot lesbian that I was in the army with. Oh yeah she was smoking hot, and she dug the girls…our command never knew, but we were good friends so she knew she could tell me.
Karen T-
What gringo’s good points?
As for chavez…he can go to hell
Patty: I think the states and counties should be responsible for raising a lot more money than the Federal goverment. If you had to tax your county to get most of the money for your budget you’d have an easier time keeping it flexible. And then you’d not have to spend money on useless programs.
Max..your right.
Derek…your just plain cool!
Patty…No…you are cool
New thread-
Derek You may get a call!
Max………one problem with that idea is that every state would set their own agendas as to how to use their money. In short, it could seperate certain states from the union as they would no longer see a need for a federal government…………..This idea is actually being thrown around by certain states, especially border states that are spending their own monies trying to control illegals from crossing the border. It far fetched, but we could actually wind up like we were before they united these United States.
That makes sense John. I didnt think of it that way. Guess i need to look a little farther out of the box.
John: Well the federal government could still be in overall control, if it regulated foreign relations, and what the States were allowed to control. It would allow a lot more innovation, as it’d be easier to pass new ideas in individual states, and then the good ideas could be copied by other states.
To all, and especially to A Venezuelan professional trying to survive in her country,
I wrote a comment before, a long one, and was not posted, wonder why. In that comment I wanted to give you info about the voting process in Venezuela and who has been behind it from day one. Please read this article: http://www.vcrisis.com/index.php?content=letters/200508141135.
In essence, high ranking Venezuelan official, including Chavez are behind the creation the electoral fraud apparatus that has dominated Venezuelan elections until the referendum of 2007.
Castro, Chavez creator since before Foro de Sao Paolo, once told his protégée that the revolution does not get counted, which means that even if elections take place, the regime has to make sure that they win at all costs. Ego Chavez and his voting apparatus have also tried to enter US politics with no success (more here: http://vcrisis.com/index.php?content=letters/200604051541 and here: http://vcrisis.com/index.php?content=letters/200604051531)
But, it is not only the voting machines that favor the chavistas; it is also the REP, or voting registry. It is plagued with all kinds of irregularities and to this date the government has declined to have a “serious” audit. (http://www.vcrisis.com/index.php?content=letters/200604251640) The REP has illegal Cubans, Colombians, Bolivians, people from Africa, Arab nations, Iranians, who can vote because they have false identity cards and passports. The REP has voters with double identity cards, which means that they can vote twice in any election. The REP also has dead people that can vote, people that have more than 100 years of age that can vote. Heck, one of my relatives, who died more than 30 years ago, has voted in every election, including dec2007, since YR 2000. So you see this is what the Venezuelans face in every election. Yes, we can vote, but we need to take care of that vote because we cannot trust the chavista government. Having an election does not necessarily mean that you are participating in a free and secret process. The chavistas take pride in saying that they have held many elections in ten years in power, and that this acts alone says it all about their democratic intentions for the country. I beg to differ.
Castro has had elections in Cuba for more than 50 years, yet he never loses, is he democratic?
This is all very frustrating and sad for all Venezuelans, chavistas and no chavistas. We’ll all pay the price. It is very dangerous to the US and the rest of the world because you never know when one of this guys who have fake Venezuelan passports will turn up in any shore anywhere in the world and commit acts of terrorism. It is just a matter of time.
To all who post here – Thank you. The information is great.
Derek, you hit the nail on the head.
Gringo, based upon the positions posted on Venezuela, you have decided we are all “right wing” radicals. Sorry to dissapoint you. I just don’t believe in Socialism or Communism, dictatorships or any other type of government when one voice is meant to speak for all – at the cost of individual freedom. I am a Capitalist that believes free enterprise and hard work DO Work. You have no information as to the upbringing of any of the individuals on this site – as to their challenges – or to their triumphs. So, I submit, you are the one who judges people if they do not see things your way.
Derek…
(Everyone but Gringo) is majority a Chavez hater
He is sure there are Pro Chavez people out there
I apologize Derek, I meant that post for Daniel!
Daniel
(Everyone but Gringo) is majority a Chavez hater

Wow that was a lot of reading to get caught up. And what’s up with no one translating??? I don’t have the fancy software you folks have so I’ve missed half the stuff.
A Venezuelan professional trying to survive in her country: WOW. Thank you for #1 writing in English so I could understand what you were trying to say and #2 for sharing your heart and life. But I would suggest being really careful. Don’t give out too much info as to where you live.
Someone said earlier (think it was Daniel) that we didn’t take Hitler seriously either. This Chavez is a freak of a human being and needs to be taken out (and not for a nice dinner).
Gringo: Do you live in the real world? What in the heck does this have to do with right or left leaning beliefs? These people are losing everything……….people are living in the streets, getting killed and I can only imagine the number or rapes going on. And your comment to THE PROFESSIONAL is a snotty “glad you can see them from your nice apartment” You are truly unbelievable! You don’t even live there! Where do you live? Do you worry about your gov’t throwing you in jail because you don’t believe the way they do? Do you worry about what you are going to eat? Can you spew your rhetoric without fear? YEAH I think you can. So before you fall down from your pedestal I suggest you WAKE UP and look at the truth that is happening.
If someone from Venezuela wanted to come on here and tell us we were all full of sh*t they can. WHY is it Mr. G that they aren’t? I realize there are some who support Chavez but from what I am reading they are in the minority.
I don’t get liberals – I thought you were the party for the “little guy?” If that is true why then didn’t you jump when the rape rooms in Iraq were revealed and it contained panties of little girls and up??? Instead all you did was whine that there were no WMD’s (although Saddam tried to wipe out an ENTIRE race of people with WMD’s) If you are for the “little guy” shouldn’t you be up in arms with fury over this dictator? No – you send Shaun Penn and the cutesy Naomi Campbell, Michael Mohr and other morons down there to lick Chavez’ boots. And now you come on this blog disrespecting people who actually LIVE there?????
I too want to hear differing points of view – but I’d like to hear an intelligent debate. From someone who actually cares about the people not who’s left and who’s right of center.
Hi to everyone else.
To the nice Venezuelans:
I just left small claims court- to hear two people disputing over monies– when I left, I realized something– I realized how lucky we are to have our rights so we have these courts to be heard-
I realized how I believe in our Bill of Rights with Due Process of Law through our 14th Amendment. We have these to protect us from the government intruding into our lives and controlling our everyday living.
I understand how many cases have come before the Supreme Court because our Amendments may be lead to interpretation as more cases evolve. The death penalty, just recently, was an issue- the Eighth Amendment– Cruel and Unusual Punishment- The First Amendment is popular- what determines freedom of speech, press, the right for assembly and petition….
Our Fourth Amendment is a controversial one– expectation of privacy and as new technology is being introduced, The Court has to make the decisions as to how far can we expand these expectations of privacy and what the limitations are.
Our Fifth and Sixth Amendments give us the rights for a speedy trial and public trial, the right to confront our witnesses and so on…. The Fifth Amendment clearly states-nor shall any person be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law….. nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation….
Although these amendments may have been extended to somewhat to have allowed some guilty to go free, the main point I am trying to make here– We have these– we are protected by these, unlike you all– and this truly saddens me..
Susana
very nicley put susan. Thanks for reminding me to be ever more thankful!!
Patty–
next time come to court with me– has ridiculous as these people are– they have rights– and thank you— It hit me as I was walking out– an inspiration- I guess
oops– as ridiculous
Good Good report, Im venezuelan live near Caracas, very good Fox News.
Tammy… he’s from Michigan or Minnesota (I think) and bought a house sonewhere in Latin America. He said that he grew up listening to Rush Limbaugh because of an Uncle that had the am station on all the time. He agreed with Rush until one day he woke up and realized that Rush never had anything good to say about Liberals. So from then on he was a Liberal. I guess he never changed the channel to listen to Alan Colmes on his am radio program. The Liberal radio hosts do the exact same thing to the conservatives. I guess it’s safe to assume that he’s in favor of the Fairness Act that can destroy the industry.
He’s been saying that Hugo is a socialst, but I don’t see Hugo falling into that definition. Dictator yes, socialist no.
He did, however, say that if we can convince him that Hugo is what we claim him to be that he would switch sides. I tried my best to debate him, but I accomplished nothing. Others have tried, very good debates, but unsuccessful.
Carlos, at least you have a place to come and vent.
http://www.marthacolmenares.com/2008/01/18/video-chavez-insania-usted-que-opina/
Chavez is insane, watch the video, one day he says he does not support the guerrilla
later he supports the guerrlla!!! so?
see for yourself, too much coca paste? maybe?
Susan Karen, Daniel, miren a este loco
No wonder the SpanishKing told Chavez to Shut UP! por que no te callas?
Alfredo… did you buy a T-Shirt or the ring tone with that on it? I heard it was a hit hahahaha
As a Venezuelan may I say that Chavez is such a big problem for many that I don’t know where to begin.
Let me start with the original theme of this piece which is drugs. What FOX has done wonderfully well and valiantly, is begin to show the world just a small part of what the Chavez regime represents. It is no secret that the drug trade through Venezuela has been increasing since Chavez came to power. You have to understand that Chavez idolizes anything that is considered wrong or bad by most of the civilzed world. Heros and friends are what most of us have considered as bad people: Castro, Hussein, Jackal, FARC & ELN, Che Guevara, Mao, etc, etc. Anything that slightly resembles going against the US way of life or the civilzed western way of life is considered good in the mind of this lunatic. And I say lunatic because there is no reasoning behind his way of thinking. It is just a matter of going against the crowd. It is been rebeliuos just for the sake of it.
So drugs is not really the problem. I can even go out and say that he is not profiting form drug trade. But he just can’t go against what he sees as his brothers in arms. He has to much money from oil to profit from drugs. He doesn’t need it. He just provides security to his brothers, the FARC and the ELN. Why? Beacuse they are fighting in their country what he is fighting in Venezuela. So who is profiting from the drug trade in Venezuela? Easy. Everyone around him.
You see, Chavez has surrounded himself with many evil people. People who know they can make tons of money just by been close to him. And these are people from all walks of life: military, bankers, businessmen, government officials, governers, judges, state attorneys, customs officials. Just about everyone. I guess that Adam can describe how many Mercedes, BMWs, Hummers and Audis he saw during his trip. Chavez speaks for the poor and against the rich. But in reality has been inefficient inhis quest to help the poor, he has destroyed the middle class and part of the upper class, but has created a whole new class of super-rich. These are those involved with the government. It is corruption like you have never seen before.
As you see Chavez is dangerous to Venezuelans and to the international community. Many Venezuelans (mainly poor) follow him because they don’t know better. And many leaders from other countries support him, either because they see him as part of the left (Chile and Brazil), or because they benefit from cheap oil or financial support (Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua).
I guess that Adam is probably aware of the indictments that took place in Florida where a few Venezuelans are been accussed of acting as illegal agents of a foreign country in the US. I would encourage you to take a look at that and prepare a piece on it. This is very huge because it could reach the highest levels of the Venezuelan government.
In any case, I have many things to say that is very difficult to maintain an orderly structure. But I want to leave you with the thought that Chavez has been related to some extent with the most dangerous people in the world: drug lords, muslim extremists (it is known they found a safe haven in Margarita island), Iran (it is suspected that they are taking uranium from the the jungles where they have “invested” in a tractor factory), etc.
I just don’t understand why very little has been donde to deal with him. Forget about all the civil rights problems, political prisoners, election rigging, etc. that do matter to Venezuelans. The world has to focus on the money he has and how he uses it. He has been buying himself tons of weapons from machine guns, fighter jets and apparently even submarines. Why? I envision a really sad and bloody end to this.
Hi Karen, no but I would like one.

FARC collar bomb in a venezuelan’s neck
Excellent work Adam, I hope you can tell the whole real story (if they let you).
Somethimes it’s hard for external reporters and even analysts to understand the deep issue with Chavez, the so called socialist Revolution and the general public feeling. You have to live and feel on the streets of Caracas and the country to get a better picture.
After living for 27 years in Venezuela I left the country looking for a better future for my family and myself. I actively participated in the Boy Scouts for many years and lived in a Mid-High class area in the South-East area with my parents and later on the East side of Caracas, right next to Petare y Palo Verde when I had the blessing of affording my own place… I did community service in very poor and dangerous neighborhoods of Petare, Filas de Mariches, Turumo and others, helping with the Polio and Varicella vaccination drives; RIGHT THERE is where you have the real picture, yes, you feel the urge and desire of power to really give back better social conditions to everybody, however, at the same time, you feel the anger of the social descomposition caused by populist goverments when you get a cold gun barrel in your head, while you’re doing public service; just because you look “different”.
I hope
Ed
I like how you said that….Chavez idolizes anything that is considered wrong or bad by most of the civilzed world
And he’s not this socialist that he claims to be… that was good how you said too… no reasoning for the way he thinks… I was thinking more on the lines of being s dictator but I can see your point, rebelious!
I’m not sure about the profiting from drugs comment though. I don’t see him allowing the drug cartels in without a kickback. Even if he has plenty of money from oil, greed will come through and he’ll take more.
What you said about him surrounding himself around bad people, sounds like what O.J. Simpson does over here! You are who you hang out with.
Hi Alfredo
Good grief! What a horrifying photo! Wasn’t expecting that!
Talyvan
That was terrible that you had to experience that! Wow. I can’t wait to hear Adam’s report.
Karen T,
Here’s a link to google translate…
It can be used to translate text or an entire web page.

Karen
And still Chavez says they are not terrorist. more than 700 prisoners an thousends of killed.
Now Chavez should be incuded in the terrorist list.
chavez is mentaly unstable and he is on antidepresives all day and night
Alfredo,
say the photo of the man with the bomb around his neck. Can you give me an idea of what the article is about?
The web page translator could not translate the photos of the papers. Just the blogs below.
Thanks
he is also align with multiple terrorist organizations there is also a rumor that Al-quaeda is base on Margarita one os our most Beautiful Caribean Islands
Gringo:
Very credible source for the myths and realities: a marx-lenin webpage… that’s funny
I could actually retype it the other way around and be closer to the truth… and I could actually rebuke all of then 10 points with facts but I guess it’s just a lost cause. Why would I need to convince you. In any case, you better sit up from your chair and go down there and see for yourself.
Cheers!
Adam,
Seriously, please cover the story on the indictments in Florida. At least start following it. It can turn out to be huge.
Alessandro,
Aligning himself with Al Qaeda…..we’ll i guess Chavez forgot he was an Infidel and will die unless he converts to Islam.
I guess we could all hope for the best and let Al Qaeda take him out.
karen is a bomb, do not move or scape, a remote control would blow the whole head away, when they want to. no pay for the kidnapping one million dollars and boooooom!
i hope so but there was a menace off blowing out our oil facilitis by Al Qaeda since we where suplying the Empire and stuff
it’s a Rumor but i would not be rare coming from him
Do not forget our political prisoners please help us! SOS
http://www.venezuelaawareness.com/index.asp
Alessandro … I expected all along that Al Quida and Chavez would one day connect. It will only be a matter of time.
I live in Caracas. Have covered Venezuela since 1977. If you’re going to be around a few days and want to chat about Chavez, drugs, the FARC and other topics, and possibly meet some interesting folks, e-mail me and I’ll provide you a contact number. I promise it won’t be wasted time.
Here’s the thing about what k2 just said.
These leaders that Chavez is aligning himself with, I’m thinking that they’re really not friends. They make Chavez think they are friends but they’re not. The terorists will take him for everything he has and use him for their own purposes. In the end, they’ll kick him to the curb when they have no more use for Chavez. He wants to play with the big noys, but he’s not one of them. He’s a wannabe. It’s a very dangerous game that he’s playing.
big noys = big boys
if someone had killed castro when long time ago
venezuela wouln’t be like this T_T
Karen T,
and just imagine if he really is supplying aid to Al Qaeda in an area just south of us and our open borders…..
I have learned so much the last two days from all the posts here. At times, I am at a loss for words. It is tragic to see this happening….and, yet it could happen anywhere.
I guess all we can do, is help promote the word getting out to the rest of the world.
So many important things happening and our populas is more concerned if Brittany shows up for court!
Alessandro,
now that you bring up Castro…..Do you think Chavez has his eye on Cuba? Meaning, would he like to take it over?
ja For sure although he has been more like a servant from castro
before he won his only legal electoral process he did a trip to cuba
did you know the want to put Che guevara as one of our national hero’s
so far we have destroy every single monument the raise to him
k2… if we can’t stop 300 tons of cocaine coming out of Venezuela then I don’t think we can stop Al Queada.
I would think some the sleeper cells already came through the Mexican border with the assistance of drug cartels.
ever since chavez first defeat in the ends of 2007 chavez has been growing weaker and the resistance stronger so you should not worry since once qe get to laid hands on him we’ll beat the cra p out of him and throw him and his boot lickers behind bars for the rest of eternity i think that what the world needs is a change in political afairs because no contry is evil but their current rulers
other country’s cannot simply ignore the conflicts of other since sooner or later they are going to to harm them one way or another
we been here for 8 hard years and we shall never surrender
Alfredo—
I know–
read this– And he is a friend of Chavez– I just heard Chavez call Bush a terrorist on the link someone sent earlier today– and this is on his trip to Guatemala or while there– I think Chavez wants to do more than take over Venezuela– The US is my concern now—-
This is no ha ha here– I am taking this thread very seriously– I have listened to hours of Chavez in the last two days– thank Dios I speak spanish– I hope Adam’s trip is an eye opener in WASHINGTON–
Ahmadinejad: Bush Sent ‘Message of Confrontation’ …
… TEHRAN, Iran —. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that President Bush sent a “message of confrontation” during his recent Mideast trip. …
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,323526… – 8k – 2008-01-17
Chavez is trying to persuade Guatemala to do some oil deals– Set up some refineries– he is trying to get into Central America, South America, and the Caribbeans- with Iran on his side–
this is not funny– I can’t even make jokes about this–
This reminds me too much of Hitler– blitzkrieg here he goes—-
Alfredo–
I saw the collar on that 64 year old man who had three days to get one million dollars or that collar was going to kill him– I thought only things like this were in the movies—-
Susan,
maybe i am naive, but I do not think Bush wants to start a war with Iran (i couldn’t get the link to work)
He speaks strongly and I think he is being the mouthpiece for the arab nations. Iran is a Persian nation. I don’t know or understand the exact difference….but, know it exists. I think Bush is trying desperately to wake up Europe and the middle east as to the seriousness of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons.
Years ago, the Saudi Royalty made a deal with the devil by allowing the radical muslims to spew their hate for the west. And, since they do not allow the country to share in the wealth, it was easier to have their people hate us than them.
At the same time, I cannot believe how ignorant I was to all that was happening in Venezuela. I knew it was bad and Chavez was bad – just not how BAD. I did watch the youtube link provided by Juan on the other post and it is very good.
So, now it is even more important to me that a very strong person is elected to President. And, that we start to put the pressure on our elected officials to wake up and stop spending like “a drunken sailor” and start talkiing to the public about the real issues facing us in the world.
Feel like i am rambling….maybe just exhausted.
Karen 2—
you need to open the link– this is Iran saying this– not Bush!
Susan-
That’s where movies things come from
Susan,
Oh no…..is this a Roseann Roseanna Danna moment – do i need to say “never mind”?
Ahmadinejad: Bush Sent ‘Message of Confrontation’ During Mideast Visit

DiggFacebookStumbleUpon
TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that President Bush sent a “message of confrontation” during his recent Mideast trip.
Bush spent much of his visit to the region, which he wrapped up on Wednesday, rallying support among Arab allies for a strong stance against Iran — calling the country the world’s top sponsor of terrorism.
“President George Bush sent a message to the Iranian people and all the nations worldwide,” said Ahmadinejad during an interview in Farsi with Al Jazeera television. “This message reflects his own conceptions and it is a message of rift, a message of sowing the seeds of division. It is a message of confrontation demeaning the dignity of mankind.”
Ahmadinejad also lashed out at Israel, a key U.S. ally in the Mideast, saying the country was “rapidly doomed to collapse.”
“All these nations believe they (the Israelis) are a murderous group carrying arms and trying through threats to change their image,” said Ahmadinejad.
Israel on Thursday successfully tested a new long-range missile, said senior defense officials speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the project. Israeli radio reports indicated the missiles are capable of being armed with nuclear warheads.
Ahmadinejad dismissed the missile test, saying Israel “lacks the courage to launch any attack against the Iranian state.”
“They are aware that any attempt or strike will be confronted by a very strong response,” added the Iranian president.
Tensions between Iran and both Israel and the U.S. have remained high over Tehran’s controversial nuclear activities. The U.S. and Israel claim Iran’s program could be a pathway to nuclear weapons development, but Tehran insists its intentions are peaceful.
“They would like to deceive our people alleging that the nuclear capability would amount to a nuclear weapon,” said Ahmadinejad on Thursday.
U.S. attempts to keep up international pressure against Iran were complicated by a December intelligence report saying Iran suspended its weapons development program in 2003 and has not restarted it.
Bush used his first major Mideast trip to stress to Arab allies that Iran’s continued uranium enrichment — a process that can produce fuel for a nuclear reactor or fissile material for a bomb — still posed a threat to the region.
The U.N. Security Council has passed two sets of sanctions against Iran for its refusal to suspend enrichment. Germany and the five permanent Security Council members plan to meet Tuesday in Berlin for talks that diplomats say will include attempts finalize a third set of sanctions.
Ahmadinejad said the U.N. Security Council had no legal justification for focusing on Iran’s nuclear program, claiming their sanctions were based on false information.
“If we pay close attention today, it is opportune time for the U.N. Security Council to rectify their false statements,” said Ahmadinejad.
The Iranian president said his country’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency meant that the IAEA should be the only U.N. body with jurisdiction over the nuclear issue.
In November, an IAEA report said Iran had been generally truthful about key aspects of its nuclear history, but warned that its knowledge of Tehran’s present nuclear work was shrinking.
Daniel–
that poor man– 64– I can’t believe it– I am like in tears because of my pinche rabia—- pobrecito–
And I just saw Alfredo’s link– when the motherf—– was in Cartagena, in 2004 swearing up to his mom and dad he does not suport guerrilla movements and then moving on 2008 where he is declaring FARC as JUST being an army and not of terrorism—
Susan,
Thanks, finally found it.
Wish I could say I trusted the IAEA, but I don’t.
And, you are correct – sounds like Hitler and we need to pay attention.
Now, if we could just get people to pay attention. Somewhere I heard that the most popular publication in our country is PEOPLE! So much for being concerned about the world, when we are a nation of hollywood worshipers!
swearing to his mom and God– I meant to say–
Daniel–
I left you a message at 5:32 and for Alfredo
K2– Do you know how many hours I have spent listening and reading about him? I can’t even begin to tell you– I am seeing his plan– loud and clear— it is not that hard– it is all fitting in– and Adam sees it too– Adam could have accidentally died there– he took the risk– Adam has more balls than that whole f—ing group of whackos–
Don’t think Chavez and s–t head from Iran aren’t talking– look at the timing-
Ahmadinejad: Bush Sent ‘Message of Confrontation’ During Mideast Visit
Thursday, January 17, 2008
And where do you think Chavez has been in the last few days– recruiting or trying to recruit countries– don’t you think this is odd? He clearly said YESTERDAY twice– Bush is a terrorist—
The only people who know about Chavez here or who are paying attention is a handful– my pharmacist didn’t even have a clue who Chavez is– and she has a degree–
Susan-
Well most of those amendments and the principles of the Bill of Rights, and your constitution are on our constitution. Our constitution is fairly good.
The problem is government do with the constitution whatever the feel like, and like they control all branches of the power, theres not much to do
I am not even going to make any jokes on this thread about Chavez– this is not a laughing matter to me anymore– all I am doing is copying links and sending them to my bright email friends– and I am getting responses– especially in Panama– MY MOUTH is going—
My brother goes to Ecuador and Colombia and he is getting links like crazy—
Daniel–
you got my drift– we are able to protect ourselves because our gov’t allows us to use these protectional safeguards– unlike you–
I read about the Human Rights you should have there– on the link Alfredo sent me– the lady who put forth a petition–
tell me a bit about Simon Bolivar?
what do you want to know about Simón Bolívar??
Simón Bolívar (1783-1830), South American revolutionary, military leader, and politician known as the Liberator for his leading role in the wars of Spanish American Independence. More than anyone else, Bolívar was responsible for the independence of five countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. Despite his success in leading these nations to independence, Bolívar never achieved his goal of creating a federation of Spanish American nations, and he died an unpopular figure because of his attempts to establish strong central governments in the nations he led to independence. Today most Spanish Americans hold Bolívar in high regard for his role as a leader of independence (see Latin American Independence).
____________________________________________________________________________
Chavez uses him as an example– the airport- your currency is all after Simon–
was he a good guy?
Chavez has said he is following Simon’s footsteps-
Are you typing?
K2–
AMEN to this Hollywood worship thing– this is why I don’t even care about the stars–I don’t even remember half their names until their names keep getting repeated– I am sick of Tom Cruise and his Scientology– he can go worship the chara of a cow’s as far as I am concerned—
I have more fun at my local little Mexico’s hole in the wall conversing with the poor hispanics in my jeans than wearing some designer dress hanging out at the Oscar’s.
Well he’s our George Washington. Many things are name after him, just like after Washington,, and Chavez uses his name because he’s our national hero to give his idioligy a moral base. Bolivar was not socialist, in fact Karl Marx insult him in his writings.
Bolivar has be come a mythic figure. Was he a good guy? I dont like him that much. Like you wrote he died unpopular because he didn’t do that well politically at the end
Daniel–
thank you– Chavez acts or talks like he wants to emulate him– in some of his pathetic speeches- probably after a morning of chewing coca pasta—
nice talking with you— set me straight when my facts or opinions are wrong– I won’t get offended–
I am about seriously thinking John McCain may not be a bad President—
If you are still here– how is Chavez and Peru?
Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia—-(simon’s)
He has Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia– problems with Colombia- what about Peru?
If you come back here– I see you are on the conversation thread–
Susan,
ironic you would mention John McCain. you should see my post to KarenT on the political blog. As you may recall, she offered $10.00 if i could pick a candidate by the time she goes to caucus tomorrow.
I am with you on Venezuela. This is so serious. Much more serious than our elected officials seem to care about. Just look at them – hearings on steroid use by the ball players! What is that all about? What does that have to do with the national, social and economic security of the USA?

Ollanta Humala Welcomes Hugo Chavez Investments in Peru
(LIP-ir) — Former presidential candidate and head of the Peruvian Nationalist Party, Ollanta Humala welcomed the government’s initiative to open its doors to Venezuelan investments and set aside discord and disagreements.
After highlighting that it was important for Peru and Venezuela to work on development projects together, Humala stated that foreign investments should not question the country’s national sovereignty.
“We have to be very clear, what Peru is looking for is a sound investment, wherever it comes from, an investment that doesn’t hurt national sovereignty, like mining investments have in the past few years,” said Humala.
Furthermore, Humala told CPN Radio that Peru’s President, Alan Garcia had finally decided to invest in the development of Peru’s energy sources.
On the other hand, Humala questioned why Peru’s government only placed the responsibility of exploiting the country’s natural resources in the hands of foreign investors for them to sell, instead of encouraging its exportation with an added value.
When asked about the incident between the King of Spain, Juan Carlos de Borbón and Venezuela’s President, Hugo Chavez at the 17th Ibero-American summit in Chile, Humala only stated that Peru’s government should not have “gotten involved in that problem.”

Hi Mr. Housley
I’m a journalist in Caracas Venezuela, I’d like an interview with you if it’s possible. I left my email address in the form.
It has been known for some time that Chavez and the guerrilla FARC are partners in the drug moovement. Chavez has places under FARC service much of its military and police forces, even dedicated to covering and protecting the drig flow through Venezuela and out of land ports. IThere are also operations where armed naval ships transport the drugs out to international waters to protect it from DEAS’s suveillance, and turns it into the drug agent’s hand onece in mid Atlantic.
The Panamá gorila picked up by the US forces some years ago on drug charges, was a small angel in comparison to Chavez. The former played child’s games while Chavez is one ofthe world’s big ligers ¿Why else would he be pressing for a recognition of decency to the narco-gerrilla FARC? He also mentioned the ELN, but that is only a cover up.
The USA and Europe are affraid of Chavez because he is a head of state. They should be afraid of the future world king of drugs and crime. He gests stronger day by day, and amercian republics have become aware of danger. It should be time to act before another war starts in the Caribean, withColombia, Venezuela, Cuba, Iran and Bin Laden forces taking part in it.
BAN CITGO, please America, put your money where your mouth is!

Adam:
Venezuela is becoming proverbial “rats nest” for drug trafficking. In some o the indigenous areas it is also hosting Hizbollah, and is also supportive of the FARC.
The Chavez government’s economic policies have caused food shortages, have ignored the problems of street crime and corruption, and have consisted in giving away the nation’s resources to other nations such as Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia, Cuba, and even the U.S. and the UK. What is the reaction of the Venezuelan on the street to this state of affairs?

Never mind– I just learned something else— The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Jose Miguel Insulza— he sounds like he is backing up Chavez’s decisions— as per the article– 1-15
Susan,
Jose Miguel Insulza is the head of the OAS (Organization of American States), the Latin American branch of the UN. Chavez does not like him very much, he once called him a “pendejo, all the way from the p to the o”.
But you know how ‘wimpy’ OAS and UN tend to be… they’ll try not to make waves, if it is not politically correct.

ahora ya saben mi interes— oiga- como se mete los accentos-?- yo lo hago con el ALT y los números- pero la letra -e- no se puede–

Hello all my Latin America friends,
I am happy you have found this post to bring this information to our attention. It is horrible what Chavez has done to Venezuela. I hope he can be stopped before his rampage continues to your neighboring countries.
I too, hope the rest of the world wakes up and takes action to stop this menace to society.

Hi Karen2
I am happy too to have this blog and Adam doing such a great job to show the world the truth about Venezuela!! I would like to share with you this link to show only a small part of what is going on here in Venezuela.
I am looking on the internet for more videos about Venezuela to share with you guys!!
Greetings from Venezuela!!
Wow these videos and links are great! Thank you Venezuelans for posting them!
Wake up Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore, Sean Penn and Naomi! Listen to the people of Venezuela! Use your celebrity to speak on behalf of these men, women and children, not on behalf of the dictator.
You should be speaking for the families that can’t get basic food because of Chavez’s control, afraid to go on the streets because of crime, living conditions that you wouldn’t allow your pet to be in, run down schools and hospitals and the supression of free speech.
No human being should have to endure what I just saw on that video about the Caracas Nine.
Karen T
Thanks for commenting the video! You will be happy to know that Francisco Usón was released on Dec 24th…he is in “probation” now. Crazy right? However, Mónica Fernandez, one of the “Caracas nine” was shot 2 weeks ago while she was buying plants and flowers. She is ok now, she is recovering…just had a surgery to remove the bullet.
It is really sad what we are living here…I will look for more videos to share with you so you can have an idea of what is going on here!
Greetings!
Rebecca… thanks for that update!! wow at least she lived!
Probation? For speaking your mind. What a joke! I am very opinionated, if I was living there Chavez would have used all of his forces to hunt me down, lock me up and torture me.
I just see that you guys are dealing with greater issues other than Chavez. Looks like you have terrorists that infiltrated that country. That reaches way beyond basic freedoms and democracy. What I am hearing from you guys is the presence of Hezbullah, Al Queada and Columbian drug cartels. It doesn’t get any worse than that. They have their own agendas and I don’t see them allowing anything getting in their way.
I don’t know how you would about convincing the Chavistas to change their opinions. You’ve made a great effort to speak out and revolt and it looks like you have the majority now. I just hope the majority in opposition is enough to get things back under control.
I can’t imagine what it would be like for me if I felt I need to contemplate leaving my country because it was too dangerous to be there. It’s frustrating for Americans to watch this happen.
I look forward to any other videos or reports that you or other Venezuelans find. This is a facinating, yet terrible story. We pray for you all.
Hello Rebecca,
Thank you for posting the link to the videos. It is so difficult for us to completely understand the despair you must be feeling. To have such a wonderful country torn apart and ruined by a this being who calls himself a leader. He is a destroyer. Off to watch more on the Caracas Nine.
Karen T,
You are so right. The Hollywood Elite – oh please. How can they even begin to think this man is doing good? I will never again see a movie or support in any fashion, any one of these idiots who have gone to visit and /or praise Chavez. They disgust me.
Oh I stopped a long time ago going to see their movies (the celebrities that support Chavez) and of course won’t rent them either.
I also won’t go to see any other movie that Hollywood puts out that portrays America in a bad light.
Sean Penn / Actor turned journalist? hahahaha
Rebeca–
muchas gracias –
I am so happy Usón is out of that horrible prison– Max security–
Chavez is abusing his executive powers to the max— and everytime I come in here to see the updated, I continue to find more disturbing news—-
valgame Diós– que pinche está esta situación—
El Stephen Baldwin– ya lo quiero– ni supe que tenia interes–
que es lo que está pasando con Chavez y Guyana? saben algo?
Hi Susan, Karen, Karen2!!
Well… it has been hard to find english translated news on internet for you…so I will try to resume last year the best I can…
Everything started with Chavez shutting down RCTV, the oldest nation wide TV channel. Here I found two videos: The first one is a nice song RCTV made for its audience..I found it with english subtittles!!!
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=TkcoJKFaSiI (A heart cries out for freedom—RCTV’s song)
The second one is about May 27th: that day expired RCTV’s license to be on air… I found a video about RCTV’s final seconds on air. In this video you will watch RCTV’s employees singing our National Anthem called “Glory to a brave people”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DYw8TlSODg (RCTV’s final moments on air)
For those of you who are not spanish speakers, I found this link…Here you can read “Glory to a brave people” song translated to english.
http://www.mission.net/sandbox/page.php?pg_id=1260 (National Anthem of Venezuela)
After May 27th, venezuelan students began protests against the loss of freedom of speech and freedom of press in Venezuela. The protests were planned by college students of ALL universities in Venezuela. Adam Housley came to Venezuela and made an excellent coverage of those protests. Here I would like to share some links I found. I will write a small comment about the video so you can have an idea of what is all about.
(Margarita Island, eastern Venezuela, May 28th 2007: students of eastern universities display a giant venezuelan flag in the beach. You can read: “S.O.S Libertad de Expresión”-”S.O.S Freedom of Expression”)
(Caracas, May 28th…Students march in a rally shouting: “This is not Cuba, this is Venezuela”)
(Pictures about protests in Caracas from May28th to May31)

(San Cristóbal, Tachira State, Border with Colombia, May 31…Students march shouting: “People wake up!!, this is a dictatorship!!!”)
More pics about protests since May28th to June 1st
This is my favorite video, it is called “Sí se puede” which means “It is possible”, it is a resume of all students protests here in Venezuela. I would like it to be translated to english…enjoy it…
http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=b9onAepBcCE&NR=1
If you have any questions about Venezuela or our situation right now, please ask, I would be pleased to answer. By the way…everytime you watch a venezuelan flag upside down…you are watching a “S.O.S” call from venezuelan people to the world…
oh wow Rebecca… you put a lot of work into that! thank you… I will look at the videos in a little while.
Rebecca… these videos are absolutely amazing! This is very frustrating to watch
Rebecca,,, Adam has done a bunch of reports on Venezuela… I haven’t read through all of these posts so I don’t know if you’ve read any of them.. here are just a few

What has happened to the food supply in Venezuela?

I live in Colombia. The guerillas have murdered children, women, blown up buildings full of innocent people, and have over 750 hostages, which as revealed this week by their own letters, are held captive with chains around their necks in the middle of the jungle, some for as long as 10 years. These guerillas fund themselves mainly on drug traffic. Hugo Chavez said they were “allies” and that they have his support. You don’t need any evidence, the man himself said it. You should have seen the outrage it caused here in Colombia, it was a slap in the face to all of us who have endured 30 years of their despicable and coward methods of war.

Hold Chavez accountable for fueling narco-terrorism
BY DIEGO ARRIA
Sunday, January 20th 2008, 4:00 AM
Be Our Guest
Hugo Chavez’s regime in Venezuela has not impressed many observers for using its power wisely or coherently. But the world must now admit, somewhat belatedly, that Chavez is at least coherent in his relationship with and approach to two of South America’s most brutal narco-terrorist groups, the FARC and ELN.
Eight years ago, Chavez, to the alarm of the neighboring Colombian government, announced that Venezuela would be officially neutral in Colombia’s decades-long struggle against these two Marxist guerrilla armies – groups that have devastated the Colombian economy and targeted innocent civilians through countless killings and kidnappings.
Last week, that “neutrality” gave way to something even more troubling and sinister. Chavez’s minister of interior, Capt. Rodriguez Chacin, uttered these expressions of solidarity with the guerrillas after they finally freed two women held hostage in the jungle for more than five years: “On behalf of President Chavez, we are very attentive to your fight. Preserve your spirits, preserve your forces, and you can count with us. Comrades, be safe.”
Such a message, broadcast on the Venezuela-funded Telesur network, was not exactly earth-shattering – for years the growing coziness between the Chavez government and Colombia’s guerrilla groups has been clear to many who follow South American politics – but this finally removes any remaining reasonable doubt.
Indeed, to confirm that Rodriguez Chacin’s praise was not an aberration, the next day, Chavez himself came out of the closet and addressed Venezuela’s National Assembly, solemnly declaring his government’s political and ideological alliance with the FARC and ELN: “We respect them. They have a Bolivarian project” – meaning, a grand socialist agenda like his own.
At that statement, the Assembly – which his supporters totally dominate – stood up in rapturous applause.
Citizens of the United States – many of whom call for energy independence to extricate the country from the dangerous politics of the Middle East – must wake up to the threat this presents. A South American government awash in petrodollars has confessed its direct support for and solidarity with the two biggest terrorist organizations in the region.
Chavez’s admission should have serious consequences, beginning in Colombia – but not ending there. Now that Chavez has made clear he is effectively in command of two armies – his own Venezuelan force and the combined FARC-ELN guerrilla forces – he must be held accountable accordingly.
The international community should make clear to Chavez that the 700-plus hostages held by the FARC are now his moral responsibility. He has proven that he can liberate them by freeing two; now he must wield similar power with respect to the rest. The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights has implored the FARC to “proceed with their immediate and unconditional release”; Chavez must wield his substantial power over them to make this happen.
FARC and the ELN are not often on the front pages of American newspapers. But let there be no mistake that they are terrorist groups of the highest – or perhaps the better word is lowest – order. Chavez is not a mediator, but an accomplice. The FARC and Chavez are not humanitarians, but political grandstanders and hostage traffickers.
This is a perverse new dimension of terrorism. These groups force child soldiers to kill friends and relatives to harden their spirits, while training them not to cry. (This is not hyperbole; it is established in a September 2003 report by Human Rights Watch.) They kidnap women and children. They kill innocent civilians by the thousands. And they are fueled by the trade in deadly narcotics that continue to wreak havoc on neighborhoods across America.
We must not stand by while such enemies of peace and humanity are rewarded by a head of state whose values are in open conflict with basic human rights and decency.
Arria, former representative of Venezuela at the United Nations, recently served as special adviser to the UN’s secretary general.
Nice blog you have here
Congratulations Mr. Housley,
You have told the truth as it is here in Venezuela. I am very happy that you did that report and the follow up on it from Guyana. I pray that you are well and God forbid if anything happened to you like in Nicaragua 30 years ago to an American journalist. But then again “telling the truth ” these days is a risky business. Myself for example I am on Chavez´s sh** list for signing the recall on him back in 2004. Believe me, you were very close to have been shot by “sicarios” or hired guns, camouflaged as delinquents to silence you. The chavistas are hot headed and are short of common sense, thus acting violently since they did use the goverment TV channel to air their protest against you. – “Subliminal messages” are used in that TV station to do evil chores against people. The Colombian Guerrilla FARC. listens to it, since in words” there is also an encrypted message to them as well.
We do not know for certain if the USA will take drastic measures against Hugo Chavez as they did against Manuel Noriega in Panama 18 years ago, since they are preparing the 4th Naval fleet at Mayport, Florida to “counter balance” – the increasing maritime traffic through the Panama Canal, aging Fidel Castro, Brazil´s economic growth and the belligerant attitude of Hugo Chavez. – Nevertheless your TV report through FOX NEWS media is highly appreciated here in Venezuela. Congratulations to them as well. Myself as a forum writer know the risk that we run by telling the truth to the world of the present situation here. Moreso, we are happy that a lot of people on “Capitol Hill” will finally open their eyes and see what a menace they have close to home by seeing your report.
If the US Navy opens a wound here in ousting Chavez, I pray that it will be not be too deep, so that it can heal in a short time.
Many blessings to you and your team.

This is really interesting reading. Hugo’s chum Fidel is very busy indeed:
MIAMI, Fla. — Cuba is expanding its intelligence operations in the Middle East and South Asia to keep a closer eye on U.S. military operations there, according to a former top Defense Intelligence Agency official.
Chris Simmons, a former DIA counterintelligence Cuba analyst, said Havana has placed top intelligence operatives in key embassy postings in countries such as Iran, Turkey and Pakistan to gather information for Cuba’s own defenses and provide intelligence to America’s enemies.
“Havana has an insatiable appetite for information about U.S. military operations as well as U.S. intelligence operations,” Simmons told FOXNews.com. “They see it as a requirement for protecting the regime.”
Cuba has sent “ambassador spies” — intelligence chiefs-turned-diplomatic envoys — to regions where the United States has active military operations, Simmons said. Before adopting this strategy, Cuba placed such people in the United States.
There’s much more:

Good work. Keep it up.
I would like to add to my brother’s (Todd Housley post on 17 Jan 08) comment. I have been asked many times by people at work if we were related. I have no idea or do I claim to be related but I did find a section of your bio that kind of caught my eye and may shed light on the Housley name.
In our immediate Housley family, baseball has been our forte. My father played in the 1956 Little League World Series. His brother, my uncle, played in the 1954 Little League World Series. They both played for the Colton Lions Little League which was changed many years later to Ken Hubbs Little League in remembrance of Ken Hubbs (who also played in the LLWS with my uncle in ‘54). My uncle continued on with his baseball into high school and signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates (I can’t remember what year). His two boys also excelled in baseball. The older brother went on to play for USC under Rod Dedeaux and also played with the US Baseball team. The younger brother played JC ball then became a firefighter.
Myself, I almost made it to the Little League World Series in 1984 with the Ken Hubbs Little League. We were the first team, since my dad played in the ‘56 series, to go as far as we did (missed regionals by 1 game). I continued into High School but never made it to college ball. I did, however, continue playing (slow-pitch softball) after I enlisted into the US Army and managed to be a part of a team that won the US Army European Championship. I even tried my luck with semi-pro ball in Italy but there just wasn’t enough time while being in the military.
Thank you for all that you do and keep up the good work.

I’d rather that we cut Hugo off than the otherway around…
CARACAS, Venezuela — President Hugo Chavez on Sunday threatened to cut off oil sales to the United States if Exxon Mobil Corp. wins court judgments to seize billions of dollars in Venezuelan assets.
“If you end up freezing (Venezuelan assets) and it harms us, we’re going to harm you,” Chavez said, directing his words to U.S. President George W. Bush. “Do you know how? We aren’t going to send oil to the United States. Take note, Mr. Bush, Mr. Danger.”
Exxon Mobil has gone after the assets of Venezuela’s state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA, in U.S., British and Dutch courts as it challenges the nationalization of a multibillion dollar (euro) oil project by Chavez’s government last year. A British court has issued an injunction “freezing” as much as $12 billion in assets.
“I speak to the U.S. empire, because that’s the master: continue and you will see that we won’t sent one drop of oil to the empire of the United States,” Chavez said during his weekly radio and television program, “Hello, President.”
“The outlaws of Exxon Mobil will never again rob us,” Chavez said, saying the Irving, Texas-based oil major acts in concert with Washington and is part of corporate “worldwide mafias.”
Chavez has repeatedly threatened to cut off oil shipments to the United States, which is Venezuela’s No. 1 client, if Washington tries to oust him. Chavez’s warnings on Sunday appeared to extend that threat to attempts by oil companies to challenge his government’s nationalization drive in courts internationally.
“If the economic war continues against Venezuela, the price of oil is going to reach $200 (a barrel) and Venezuela will join the economic war,” Chavez said. “And more than one country is willing to accompany us in the economic war.”
