FOXNews.com On The Scene

Will I Get Thrown Out of Venezuela?

We were supposed to be in Trinidad for a story, but the airline from Caracas suddenly went on strike –  funny how that happens when employees hadn’t been paid in weeks!

Also, the Chavista TV stations and newspapers called for me to be thrown out of Venezuela for “lying” about our drug story. I will write full updates on everything as soon as we are at our next stop tonight.

The TV stations controlled by Chavez even showed video of our my blog on Foxnews.com.   So I’ve got that going for me and some new readers!

I wish the Venezuelans would come on this blog and tell us their viewpoints. Whether they’re in favor of Chavez or not. They don’t need to be able to write in English either because we can translate what they say. They can always write anonymously.

Comment by Avi

Patty

he has a undergroud network lol ;)

Adams layer ;)

Comment by Karen T

The reporters in Venezuela have to report that Adam is lying. It’s part of Chavez’a agenda. Trick the people of Venezuela into thinking that nothing is happening. They think the people of Venezuela are stupid and won’t see through the lies and rhetoric that Chavez and his reporters put out in the media.

Chavez will allow the drug cartels to come in, Chavez is too dumb to realize that the drug cartels will try to take over the streets. Making the people of Venezuela frightened.

Why would Chavez pro tv put Adam’s blog on tv……..doesnt that just give the anti’s more power, gives them a voice they may not otherwise have.?

Comment by Patty

oops i mean — conversation turn.

Comment by Karen2

Adam,
as a new blogger on your site, glad to be here. You have an amazing group here. Very nice people with great minds.

Appreciate the good work and stay safe.

Comment by Karen T

Patty… maybe he’s using Adam’s report as proof that Adam was lying… he can show Venezuelans that Adam really did a report on the issue… He can say to the Venezuelans…Look what Adam Housley wrote! It’s all lies. See, I told you he wrote a report! hahahaha

What a goofball Chavez is.

Comment by Karen T

Did I spell lying correctly?

Comment by Alessandro

hello pepole i from venezuela i would like to thank you adam for being so brave and come here to show the rest of the world the truth we been trying to tell

it’s been about 8 years of this scalating conflict

chavez is turning us against each other so he can sustain power
saying stuff like **is because the rich pepole that you are living this way ** bullsh** like that

besides the CNE ( Nacional Electoral Counsel ) is been tampered we can never get a clean election
we had to fight hard in order to prevent the constitucional change he was plotting to stay in power forever

he commands armed groups that stir terror in the population when they protest

the Economical situation of the country is slowly deteriorating too

we have food shortage

he is getting his dirty hands on our education so we turn out like brain dead zombies that worship him

he took away most of the police weapons he has enourmous power in the military because from the April 11 incident he has been replacing the ones with the highest ranks for his pepole

this is just a little bit of what’s happening here sorry if i have some grammar errors this is not my natural language you know i m’ a 17 year old boy pepole and even i realize that you can ask me any question that does not involve private information from me

Comment by Karen T

I am very proud of you Patty!! hahahaha… you crack me up!

Comment by Patty

Alessandro…grammatical errors are not a problem. We are interested and we can read between the typo’s.

Karen T…. now Im going to gloat while running my errands! ~Later ;-)

Comment by Karen T

Alessandro

Wow! Thanks for coming on here and telling us what you’re seeing happen over there. We don’t care about your grammar, we care about your thoughts and what Venezuelans have to live through with Chavez in power.

We have learned a lot from Venezuelans coming on her to talk to us. Thank you!

A few of you have mentioned about the food shortage… what’s going on with that?

I saw pictures of the conditions of your hospitals. They were disgusting! They should be condemned. One said on this blog that you’re having difficulty getting medical supplies. I can’t imagine living like that.

Comment by Alessandro

well about the food thing is because he is murdering the production power and killing the industry

Comment by Karen T

I was laughing at Patty… but I always laugh at Patty. She cracks me up.

Comment by Rod Venger

Hey Adam, make sure you hang around people and don’t wander off. Wherever you do go, make sure there’s witnesses…crowds of friendlies are a good thing. -Rod-

Comment by Alessandro

well not all the hospitals are like that but the are not taking care of them because of the corruption the money that should be for the hospitals is taken god knows where

Comment by Derek

Alessandro…stay strong brother

Adam…be careful brother

Hugo…kiss my ass

I am so tired of dictators, would the american people support violent overthrows of corrupt governments? I think that the average american is compassionate enough to understand that human suffering needs to be stopped and that it may be costly but it is neccesary. I mean, venezuela, sudan, somalia, cuba, south africa (watch the news, that is going to be the worst to date) there are so many countries that have legit human suffering as a direct result of a dictatorship. Couldn’t we just go in, completely route the government and army, then let the people have their country back. Not like we did iraq, we did not finish the job before we started to rebuild and that was a huge mistake. I am talking about going in, and killing every SOB that is in that government and military. Maybe I am too violent for my own good, but there has to be a way to deal with these clowns, and the only way I know to deal with a bully is strip him of everything he has.

Comment by Alessandro

you know derek the problem is not the american pepole the problem is the politicians

the are the ones who should be beat up for good

Comment by Karen T

So you’re having problems getting basic things like milk, eggs, bread…things like that.

I saw pictures of the run down streets, many buildings looked debilitated, not habitable. Not all buildings, but in the poorer sections. I felt bad for them.

Comment by Alessandro

but if you fight chavez head in you destroy us in the process

Comment by Karen T

Derek… that’s what I don’t get… why do some Hollywood celebrities do that do that? How could you not see that Chavez is not putting money back into the country? I don’t get it.

Comment by Karen T

What do you mean…but if you fight chavez head in you destroy us in the process
??

Comment by Patty

Alessandro..sorry for the confusion on the laughing. I didn’t mean to interrupt. You are taken seriously here. You can count on it!

Comment by Kristin

Has Fox had any reports on Adam on the air today? I have been enjoying TCM since I had a day off. I haven’t had a chance to watch much.

Comment by Max

Karen T: He probably has a set up similar to the ones the USSR had. They had these really nice areas, only the party faithful could live there. Visitors were always accompanied, and not allowed to leave those areas, so they would only see the very best area.

Comment by Alessandro

is you star a full scale war in here i will say something like see i was right the americans a trying to take over the world besides he is been buying weapons from countrys like russia and stuff the result would be a masive blood lust from all the Hatred and anger he has seed between us

and we are at a weak economical and political state

Comment by Karen T

haven’t seen any Kristin…if i hear any coming up I’ll post it

Comment by Karen T

Max… sounds similar to how they do it in North Korea!

When the celebrities go to visit Chavez they probably only see the good areas

Comment by Patty

Alessandro…your people need to remember their roots, and go back to them. Only then will they know where the truth is. History tells us many things, our ancestors were very smart (mostly), it is easy to see from their mistakes. They need to be reminded of what your country once was, and can be again, if they don’t fall into the dictator’s trap.
Although that is much easier to say than to accomplish.

Comment by Alessandro

actually is not like that we have many beatiful places to go in our cities though is true that some areas are embarrasigly damanges and not taken care of

mostly because of the insecurity in those place that they are that way

Comment by Patty

Karen T and Max..its like all of Greta’s pics from being with the Pres and the First Lady in Abu Dahbi (sp?)….look at the palaces they stayed in. Greta never saw the worst of the worst, or what the normal citizen sees day in and day out. If you have any “name”, you will be catered to.

Comment by Karen T

That’s just Chavez’s paranoia talking. He wants people to think that America wants to start a full scale war. He’s dillusional and wants to turn Venezuelans against the US.

Comment by Rod Venger

Max…the USSR’s Dacha’s were quite nice by their standards but most were maybe only middle class by ours. Not much, but much better than what the Soviet citizens got. -Rod-

Comment by Patty

I dont meant to lighten your situation, please dont take this taht way… Alessandro. But its much like that here. It all depends on which end of town you drive on. Some you NEVER go into after dark, or you will never come back out.

Comment by Karen T

Good point Patty… the only difference is that they already know not to be deceived by what they’re seeing. But some celebrities that go to Venezuela seemed to be blinded to the reality of people live in Venezuela, the ones with little money anyway..

Comment by Karen T

Alessandro

What kind of insecurity is in the areas of runned down places? Are you talking about crime or military influence or general freedoms?

Comment by Derek

Well we sure as hell need to clean up washington, I knew my fellow americans could be counted on. Yesterday, America was the beacon of hope for so many, we welcomed the poor and wretched to our shores, we gave them hope, they drank from the cup that is freedom. Today, we continue to welcome them to our shores, but we find our land is bursting at the seams, we welcome them still and we comfort them as they recover from the harshest of lands. well I have a vision for tomorrow, it is not to be the last beacon of hope, but it is to kick the beacon up a few notches so that we are not the only ones in the light of freedom. we use lady liberty, to chase away the shadows of dispair from the planet. We show the world, that we are for liberty for all countries and if you choose not to join us, then destruction will follow, we chase the evil men from the shadows and we kill them in the streets. We are the most powerful nation on earth and we have the most powerful freedom loving allies. Then, when the entire world is free from oppression we rest. I for one am willing to fight the rest of my days for liberty to be granted to all.

Comment by Kristin

Thank you Karen T!

I can only do so much multitasking. I figured that reading here would get me the most information the quickest.

Alessandro–

I left for you and the Venezuelans a post on the last thread– Hugo and Cartel

Comment by Karen T

You know, I took 4 years of Spanish in an all girl Roman Catholic high school and the only things I know how to saw in Spanish is swear words.

I don’t have clue what was being said on the video… but I got the idea! Very powerful imagery.

See over here we have protests also. But I’ve never seen it to the extreme that I see happening in Venezuela. The Venezuelans that are in opposition of Chavez are very passionate!

I undestand that force needs be done in oprder to control the crowds… but for goodness sakes, that was extreme force!

Comment by Tammy

We need to go back to the days of carpet bombing. Destroy the idiots like Chavez and then go back in and rebuild.

But it can’t be done by us – there needs to be an organized revolt within Venezuela that we can secretly support. Like the days of old………who is that guy Charlie (the Rep from Texas) who did that very thing?

Comment by Tammy

WHAT VIDEO’S ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT???

Comment by Karen T

Alessandro

Governments, as you know, should not be supporting gangs. Corruption cannot rule and the people of Venezuela should not allow them to prevail. That’s just not healthy, to say the least.

Comment by Alessandro

you know many police oficers and military decided to protect the pepole on the midle of the whole conflict

you know what has become of them?!

they are in Jail!! labeled traitors without a fair judge/trial whatever the word is to define legal prosecution

you think thats fair?

Comment by Susan- Phx- AZ

Adam–

I rushed back from court because I was so worried about you– I am so glad you are fine- I think-

After reading a few links such as– Eva Gollinger- demanding your presence to be gone, I had the worse fears–

The more links I read on the other thread, as there were several, pointing at you to be immediately thrown out of Venezuela, I feared the worse.

I spent all day yesterday and this morning reading the links about Chavez– the more I read, the larger this monster became to me– I couldn’t help but think, as your last visit, and the article which I translated, how much more you are hated by Chavez and his monkeys.

Thanks to Alfredo, I saw a human side to those poor individuals who are incarcerated for just going against Chavez– so my fears increased as I thought how much more you are hated there by Chavez’s supporters-

Your poor mom– if you were my son, I would be drinking all the vino there and asking your dad to wake me up when you were on friendlier soil– :D

It was nice to see you post again–

and ditto to Patty’s remark– they are trying to get you out of there- and you are stuck–

I don’t know if you know this– but your Cartel thread was the hot spot for ratings– Someone stopped in last night and left a link–

People who protest here and cross the line of of being organized to being disruptive and break the laws, they too get arrested. But those are in the extreme cases (this doesn’t apply to Cindy Sheehan though, she has the ability to get arrested almost all the time). These people have fair trials, pay a fine and get out pretty quickly.

That’s sad to hear that, what you’re saying,,, they’re accused of being traitors just because they have an opinion and are expressing it. They are the smart ones that protest! They know that Chavez is corrupt and not good for the people.

Comment by Tammy

That was horrible. Thanks for the link Alessandro and for pointing me in the right direction Karen T.

Max–

But I have to like create an account– the more I redo the map, the more places I memorize where Adam has been- so when the picture of the day comes up, I don’t even have to look where he has been– and I have the nine states memorized where he hasn’t been- :D and most of the countries– Tahiti I will never forget– lol

Jen– if you come back in– guess what I am making tonight– lasagna– to take over to Ella’s and Wanda’s tomorrow— :D

Hi Mr. Housley

I’m a journalist in Caracas Venezuela, I’d like an interview with you if it’s possible. I left my email address in the form.

Comment by Nelson

I do not understand why some people fail to see what Chavez is doing to Venezuela. A coutry with those resources shoukld not have poverty, elevated crime, unemployment, hunger, scarcity of food, etc.. Instead, he tries to buy foreign friendships by condoning debts that other countries have with Venezuela, has given oil for free, has given billions of dollars away to governments like Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and has meddled in the affairs of other countries by financing political campaings. Internally, he has literally copied te cuban situation to create dependency on the state and an unfriendly atmosphere for businesses and investment. Corruption is abundant and wide open. The government officials have no shame in the incredible sums of money they have amazed, without having an education, ocupation, or businesses to support a legal source of those moneys. Farmers and ranchers have had their lands taken away by mobs with backing from the military. A TV station was literally taken from its rightful owners by the government. There is political persecusion and there are political prisoners. Although the FARC in Colombia has venezuelan hostages and have for years terrorized business owners and farmers along the border with Colombia, he claims they are not terrorists. Chavez is a reincarnation of Idi Amin of Uganda. It is the worst thing that could have happened to Venezuela.

Max I don’t know. Good question. Have you ever tried New England Clam Chowder?

Comment by Max

Ok, after frying something, keep 4 tablespoons of pan dripping in the pan, add 3 table spoons of plain flour and a little salt and pepper, spread it around quickly so there are no clumps, as soon as it’s bubbling add 2 cups of milk. Keep stiring until it gets to your desired thickness. For me this is about the same point that the gravy begins to bubble.

It’s best to prepare all the ingredients before had, as it all happens very quickly at the beggining.
Also, if you’re going to fry a steak, make sure it’s full of blood, adds to the taste of the gravy.

I’m going to email this to Susan as well.

Comment by Max

Karen T: not yet, not easy to find clams here in Old England.

Hi Adam!! its very sad for the people of venezuela have a president like this… you don’t know how we feel every time that Chavez or they people attacking people or countrys. It is very distressing that people like you are pushed out of our country. But it is because they are afraid to truth, which is that, despite all Venezuelans and the entire world knows. I hope that what happened does not obstruct follow working on that, it is very important that all know the real work and intentions of Chavez. We assure that you have the support of the majority of Venezuelans. Successes

Comment by Karen2

Susan,

now that I have Max’s recipe for cream gravy, can i have the recipe for chicken fried steak?

Comment by Rod Venger

Hey Antro, that was intelligent. Is that your IQ? -Rod-

Comment by Max

Karen2: Chicken fried steak to serve 8, or 4 hungry guys!:
2lb beef steak, tenderize it. Cover in flour, then dip in 1 egg with a little milk, cover in flour again.
Heat up 1 ½ cups of oil in a pan until it’s starting to smoke a little. Slip the steaks in, after the base has crisped turn over and wait till the other side has crisped. As soon as the steaks are out of the pan start the gravy mix :)

This is my favorite meal.

Comment by Rod Venger

Max,

Yummy stuff. I make my gravy just as the steak is finishing cooking so it’s all made at once. I do the same with Chicken livers, too. When the livers are just finishing, add water and your seasonings to the roux. -Rod-

Comment by Max

Rod: Do you mean you leave the steak in the pan when you make the gravy?
I get everything ready for the gravy while the oil is heating up. Then as soon as the steaks are out of the pan in goes the flour.

Comment by Patty

Im no martha sterwart but isnt it kinda hard to stir the gravy if the meat is still in the pan!!! ;-)

Comment by Patty

Max… take that gravy made with butter instead of drippings and add cut up dried beef turkey, or even hot dogs…serve on toast………YUM!

Comment by Patty

oops, that was to read dried beef or turkey, not one in the same.

Congratulations on such a great coverage of my country.

As a venezuelan I’d like to congratulate you and FOX News for informing what Chavez really is.

Believe us, we wanted to kick this demon out of power, but it’s hard to remove a dictator who receives over $200 Million … PER DAY … mainly form the U.S. He take this money, give it away to fund and support the so called SOCIALISM of the XXI Century (or whatever that means)

Please go to a popular market and will see that we have no Milk, Sugar, Chicken or Beef.

Thank you!!!!!!

PS. By the way, Chavistas wanted to kick you out of the country, as a FASCIST STATE, the Government OWNS the truth ….. you probably understand that ….

To the American People: Beware of Socialists – Vote Republican!

hola Alessandro,

The Food Problem (which Chavez refer to this as minuscule social inconvenient) is a real and dramatic problem, among of many other.

DID YOU KNOW that more people DIE in CARACAS ALONE that in IRAK? (per week basis)

Since Chavez took power, street violence has taken over 120.000 lifes on common robbery, assault and battery

DID YOU KNOW that Chavez is fostering relations with IRAN and even Al-Qaida member (in Margarita Island)

the list is way too long ……..

America should pay a little more attention to this guy, in any given moment, America could be facing another Missile Crisis with no warning.

Comment by Rod Venger

Juan,

What would you like the US to do? I have no problem with dealing Chavez out…but there’s a cost for Venezuelans for that sort of intervention. There’s a responsibility to make good use of the opportunities presented too. Politicians that aren’t corrupt, politics without everyone struggling for power, a fair chance for everyone… Historically S. America hasn’t scored real well in those areas. But we’d gladly help…speaking for myself, anyway. -Rod-

Comment by Alessandro

yes juan sadly i DID know that as i Read the Newspaper Diary

Comment by Alessandro

as for the misile crisis thing
is no go cause he has much more than half of the country against him and if he gets the US pissed off the would own the fuck out of him because there would also be a rebellion withing the army against him for stirring war

Comment by Juan

Rod,

Truth is that Chavez has a lot of money, thus power. I think the US should realize that Chavez is a full blown communist, Anti-American who wants to destroy your country … Here are my simple TO-DO list for America in reference to Chavez:

1) STOP buying OIL from Venezuela (America provides over $200 Million per day)

2) Approve US-Colombia Free Trade Agreement and expedite commerce with “friendly” countries in Latin America – Commerce is the best way to improve life conditions in the region also will help your immigration problems, the better we are here, the less people will try to flee and move to the US

3) Extend PLAN COLOMBIA (a US military and financial support plan to fight Drug and Terrorism in Colombia)

America should avoid falling in any diatribe with Chavez, just IGNORE him. Do not intervene militarily — unless Chavez decides to attack Colombia

I don’t think that other measures like an Embargo or even military involvement is necessary because that is proven to fail and in the long run and will strengthen the communism and the Anti American sentiment.

We Venezuelans need to topple down this government and the best way to do this is to STOP his finances.

PS. A NICE TO HAVE WISH is to get rid of the Communist Regime in CUBA, all this problems exists because CUBA is an incubator of little chaveses and little fidels and other werid creatures

Comment by Socal Surfer

Juan,Alessandro.
I think American’s on the whole, Care deeply for what happens in your country and that we all wish that democracy is re instated as soon as possible.
But, what I dont understand is why doesnt anyone there take a good hunting rifle with a scope and just shoot him in the head when he ventures out of his cage to make a speech? I mean, its not that hard to get a gun and just shoot him. I think, that is the only way you will be rid of him.

It doesn’t matter if Castro dies– he is putting his affairs in order–

Adam– I am going to the other thread– the ones with all the links– I am getting nervous– this is like a puzzle– Is Bush aware of Venezuela? The video I saw today– with Chavez in Guatemala, he clearly said Bush is a terrorist– it is like he is trying to get all these countries together and his planning like a war– look what I just found as I opened the internet– and typed in Ahmadinejadw

Ahmadinejad: Bush Sent ‘Message of Confrontation’ …
… TEHRAN, Iran —. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday that President Bush sent a “message of confrontation” during his recent Mideast trip. …

Thursday is yesterday—-

Comment by Rod Venger

Juan,

Not buying Chavez’s oil IS an embargo. I personally have no problem with that, but US citizens here need to decide if they want to endure that sort of pain…and it will be painful.

Free trade agreements have this nasty habit of doing the US the least amount of good. We’re running a trade deficit that runs into the hundreds of Billions of dollars per year. Money goes out, doesn’t come back. We’re being slowly bled to death. We can’t subsidize the world’s trade forever, y’know?

Chavez could be dealt with much more quickly in my opinion, for about 50 cents. But we’d need to know that Venezuelans are going to do their part and not simply go into another left-right-left wing cycle. The continent needs more stability, less ambition and corruption. -Rod-

Comment by Socal Surfer

“Ahmadinejad”,or as I like to say his name “Im a Dinner Jacket” has a blog and is a pretty interesting read. It’s like reading a new version of Hilter’s Mein Kampf. The crazy Dictators always tell you what they are going to do. You just have to keep your ears and eyes open to hear it.

Comment by Juan

Cont’d

You may ask why Help Colombia? Simple: Colombia is improving dramatically since President Uribe is in Power. He is defeting Terrorism (FARC, ELN) with great success (and of course, US Support). Improving and supporting Colombia will balance the region and create a SUCCESS STORY that everyone will see here in Lat Am.

America should get back to the Principles of great leaders and thinkers like Jefferson, Addams and the founders of the American Democracy. I believe those values could be spread through commerce, investment and demosntrating that societies can grow for good in good causes.

Obviously that’s a bit altruistic hahaha, but I am talking about DIRECTION, VISION and LEADERSHIP.

Unfortunately, the IRAQ story turned to be worse than anyone expected and is fueling the anti-american sentiment.

I do respect America because I respect/share/recognize its values and without values, no one can get anywhere.

KAren T , well they may not be able to get that from us very longer as the OIL infrastructure in Venezuela is breaking down as fast as I can type. I’ve heard from reports that oil exporting industry has 1 two 3 years left before they will only be able to service their domestic needs. Now, that is “if” China or India get there hands on those oil rigs. Which I think will happen.

Comment by Karen2

Juan,
Thank you for the youtube link. Very important. Wish it was all over our news….but, then Chavez would just say – Bush is out to get him….

Unfortunately, our elected officials have not yet realized the importance of getting away from foreign oil. And, now a growing China and India are huge buyers of oil throughout the middle east and russia.

Karen T, yes, amazing how much oil we purchase from Venezuela. So, not to punish your local gas station, but consider it when buying your gas….Citgo are the stations selling Venezuela’s gas.

Juan… I didn’t know that ratio! Scary, but that’s very unhealthy! Poor nutrition nationwide cannot have an outcome anything other than disease. I can’t imagine the look of devastation on a mother’s face when she can’t feed her children. The anger from a father because he can’t provide the food for his family.

Comment by Karen T

Juan you’re the second person to blog about the suspicions of a link between Chavez and Al Queada. There’s probably a very real possibility because of the ties to Iran.

I heard about the property he bought, shared the cost with ahmadinijead for a nuclear plant. I’m not aware of anything else though. I mean that’s bad enough.

Comment by Juan

Karen-T … yes, the middle class gets the food, we can find food. The lower-middle class cannot find the necessary food even in chavez controlled MERCAL (popular markets) and when they find Milk or any other scarse food, they might get one kilo or 2.

Nobody was able to link Chavez to the extreme left nor detect his intentions.

In eastern Caracas, you can live with close to normal kind of life, like a bubble. On rural areas, on low income areas of the country is where the real revolution is happening. A revolution of foreign values mixed with hate and resentment

We are sitting on a time-bomb.

I think we are heading for another Nicaragua kind of war, slowly but surely

Comment by Rod Venger

Alessandro,

Want and need are two different things. If things with Chavez are going to get worse, then steps have to be taken to stop him. I assume he asserts considerable control over the Army, and if that’s the case, things will go sour at a time of his choosing. One can either be a victim or be a victor.

Most Americans (I hope) understand the relationship between freedom and it’s cost. It’s a fact pounded into us at a very early age. Those of us that really understand the cost of it over the centuries have an appreciation of freedom that the others without the understanding lack. It’s why some are willing to simply stand and stare blankly into space when the subject of patriotism comes up. They take everything they have for granted…and of course the idea of fighting and dying for it is foreign to them. They are the critics of the government, critics of the war…blind idealists with no understanding of human nature. Frankly, the war in Iraq will never succeed until those people are so fed up with blood and death that they’ll set aside centuries of animosity. Had the US simply left or simply gave the country to whomever…the Iraqi’s would never develop an appreciation of the cost of freedom. Cost in blood, arms, legs, lives, Dinars…They have to think of that cost every time they start to think of sending a bomb into a neighborhood. When it sickens them, they’ll have understood the cost of freedom and why it must be preserved.

Venezuela may have to go that route. The idea that Chavez can be painlessly removed probably isn’t realistic. Someone, either on the right or the left, or the Army, would likely step up to take his place and you’d again find yourself with a government not of your own choosing. When it’s so easy to change governments, to rewrite a Constitution, how can it ever be appreciated? Our own Civil War taught us…it may be your turn soon enough. -Rod-

Hi Karen,

See my previous post. Unfortunately the blog made me trim a bunch of it out so I’m not sure I got to make my point. But I understand what you’re saying. -Rod-

Comment by Karen T

Wow Juan! Hezbollah militants! Ugh!!

I cartainly can’t think of a way for other countries to intervene and play Superman. Venzuela would need to take steps towards a legitiment democracy. We see that happening with the students, for example and voting. But I don’t think that’s enough.

When you have underlying forces contributing to Chavez’s idiotic ideals like the control of terrorists, Columbian drug cartels and alignment with other leaders that have their own agenda… this is very overwhelming for us to watch this happening. I can’t even imagine living through it. I pray for you all.

Comment by Karen T

Rod, what you’re saying to Alessandro makes sense… but here’s what I’m thinking… with the terrorists involved (who each have their own agenda and need Chavez for different purposes) this problem goes way beyond Chavez. Very dismal.

Rod,

I don’t understand why FTA arent’good for America? I believe outsourcing to India or China could be even more damaging than FTA with neighbours — I might be wrong, I don’t think is financing the right word, anyways, FTA should … MUST be beneficial for both parties, otherwise makes no sense. FTA should be a fair interchange of goods. Leftist in S. America say that FTA will only destroy the agriculture (?), intervene the country (?) and let the american empire conquer our countries (?) … I see that FTA will conduit american products into our markets and vice-versa …

Behind FTA is (should be) hard-work and mutual benefits

The .50 cents solution (is that a .50 CAL in his head hahaha) is a quick fix that could be worst … probably it might be creating another figure like the Che ??? Another revolution Hero? Anyways, If I am correct on the .50 cent solution , every venezuelan DREAMS about that hahaha KIL DA M… F…

At this point, we need our own version of PINOCHET who took Chile from a similar situation into one of the best S. Americas countries (more stable in your terms) -

Let me tell you that for almost 50 Years, every country from Mexico to Argentina, has been exposed to Marxism from Cuba, in music, culture, Che Pictures, drugs, guerrillas, etc. Is a constant bombardment. I say the real imperialism comes from Cuba in all forms and fashion.

Juan,

The FTA’s don’t do much good if the US keeps getting screwed in the deals. We let good in here in record amounts but can’t sell ours in reciprocal fashion. Ideally there’d be equal amounts of imports and exports for all concerned.

That slug in Chavez’s head MUST be followed up by action by the same majority that voted no on the referendum. Only you guys can prevent another strongman from coming to power…and that would also effectively shut FARC and Iran out as well. It really is up to you guys. Middle of the road…not leftist, not rightist. -Rod-

Karen,

I agree with the intervention issue. We venezuelans have to step up.

If ONLY we could have some sort of PATRIOTISM.

Chavez is in power because (in part) of great economic support from the very same wealthy venezuelans who helped him get into power. I still remember how great thinkers and wealthy people and families supported him before 1998.

It’s our own misfurtune and stupidity.

Like Rod said very well, Freedom is not for free, it is very costly and Venezuela ignore the price. Probably we will need to suffer more until we get the message.

That means more venezuelan moving to other countries (ahem, like the US… sorry, like Spain, Costa Rica and even Colombia)

Chavez gives the military great amount of money and corruption to avoid that. Some of them have true patriotism, other love Washington (the one imprinted on the US Dollars bills…)

Eva Gollinger asked for the night of Thursday in the Hojilla the expulsion of the country of the journalist Adam Housley, of FoxNews, to make a news article on full Venezuela “of lies and falsifications.” Housley journalist would be at the moment in the country. The news article assures that Venezuela “is a great freeway” through which they passed the last year 300 tons of cocaine originating of Colombia towards the United States and Europe. That amount would represent a third of all the cocaine that is sold in the world. Eva Gollinger remembered that president Chávez emitted a decree that specified that any journalist who came to Venezuela to say lies would be declared “person nonpleasing” and expelled from the country. It solicitd to apply the decree to the journalist of FoxNews. And what says the news article? That two reasons exist that justify the enormous increase of cocaine traffic through Venezuela. First it is that the DEA has let operate in the country, accused by the government of Chávez to spy for the Americans. And second it suggests the national government would have been sold to the narcotics traffickers, allowing the free cocaine circulation by Venezuela in exchange for money. It argues the news article that the national government cannot extract more petroleum, and therefore to obtain more money, since it counts on obsolete equipment of exploration and production. The news article includes a shortest interview to Eduardo Sapene, of RCTV.

Comment by Karen T

KT–

That link has been on the other thread since this morning– several times- people from Venezuela telling Adam to get the hell out of there– but to paraphrase– Eva is whining about Adam’s coverage– denouncing his coverage to be nothing but lies– here is my favorite part– so I copied it so I could translate word by word– it is like a threat–

K2,

I thought the food talk was just fine. It’s a shame some got bent about it. Shrug. I’m thinking it’s time for biscuits and gravy again. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get some Jimmy Dean :D

I’m…doing ok. Some lady knocked on my door a couple hours ago asking about the hummingbird feeders and the food I feed them, meanwhile she’s freaking out that just 2 feet from her head a dozen or so birds are buzzing around while we stand there and talk. Stuff like that makes my day.

KT,

I knew that name sounded familiar…CafePress. I looked into it a couple of years ago but didn’t think I had any good ideas so shelved it. While *I* like my obnoxious sense of humor, I think it falls flat for a lot of people. Ah well. I hope you do well with it.

My cordless mouse is trying to get my attention…I guess I better charge the batteries up. I’ll be back. -Rod-

Don’t look anymore for the translation girls– I just did it– the best part–

Dear eva… I don’t want to get the information that Adam is reporting on from a Diplomat. I want to get it from a person that I can trust, somebody not in a government position. You’re on the wrong side Eva, Chavez will ultimately fail and you will be a bigger fool than you are now.

And what does the coverage say? That two reasons exist to justify the great amount of traffic going through Venezuela. The first is that the DEA has stopped operating in this country, accused by the government of Chavez as spying for the americans. And the second suggests that the national government is selling to the drug traffickers, permitting the free circulation of cocaine from Venezuela in exchange of money. KT,

Right now the feeders are “slow”, only about 6 cups of sugar water/day. Well, it’s 5 pounds every 10 days, so that’s a good perspective. The Summer months is really crazy, about 10 pounds per week. I love the little guys. -Rod-

Hi people out there!

I am a Venezuelan and I would like to give my opinion about Adam’s job in Venezuela.

I think he is doing a really good job because he is showing what Chavez’s government hides. A person who supports drug’s smuggling and terrorist organizations like FARC.

What Chavez makes doen’t represent the point of view of all Venezuelan people, and some of us want to stop this nightmare soon.

My words for Adam: Keep going, man!

Thank you

PDVSA got oil drills from China and have blown some of them on miss use, it is say because they didn’t understand the instruction on Chinese, but that maybe a joke.

The Major problem with the oil industry is the incompetence and the corruption that has come after Chavez fire 17000 worker after the 2002 strike

Noticiero Digital

Lay your hands on any of our reporters, and this country will come alive against you Hugo. We aren’t all Cyndi Sheehan or Harry Belafonte. In fact, nearly everyone I know reviles these people for giving you any audience whatsoever.

I do my part ( ban CITGO). We’re not buying it Hugo.

I´m venezuelan. The Chavez´s government supports terrorist organizations openly, like FARC and ELN in Colombia. These groups survive mainly because of protection to cocaine producers and Chavez´s governments offers them a corridor to the US and Europe thru our country. There are enough clues to that. FARC and ELN have safe havens in Venezuela and drug money is starting to flow thru the veins of one particularlly corrupt regime. The threats against you, Mr Housley are not rare in their permanent attack to free press. But venezuelans have almost 50 years of countinuos democracy and have resisted the worst years of this autocratic and undemocratic would-be comunist regime that is been loosing popularity by the day. Please go tho the Gobovision TV network and talk to venezuelans, we´ll support you.

To Kathy in Texas…

Trust me, the U.S. Embassy can get Americans killed as well. Just ask the families of Charles Horman and Frank Terrugi in Chile in 1973.

In 1973, both of these men, (along with 3,000 other Chileans) were executed in the Chilean National Stadium. the two Americans were killed because they discovered that there was American involvment and planning of the coup that brought down democraticly elected Salvador Allende.

Since both of these two individuals were journalists. Both were left leaners, so that sealed their fate. Of course, americans do not kill other Americans, nor do they torture. However, Americans will give them over to other countries to do their dirty work for them. That is how they get away with it.

No one from the US Embassy in Chile was EVER held to account for their participation in the murders of these two fellow Americans.

For shame….and now only get reports about how some president chews coco paste of something?
