Rod: I think everyone starts fearing death, but they have to get over it.
Patty I have a nephew Kathy’s age, he is such a sweetie, like a son really.
Susan,
you have a document in your inbox. -Rod-
Max,
I have no sure answer, but I guess I’d have to say that the liberalism, or the hatred of God came first. Some kid…he’s not going to fear death unless taught to. He’s not going to know God, or know of God, unless taught…either by people or by God himself. None of that will just come to him. It’s nuture, not nature. -Rod-
Terri: Thanks
If you’d like my email you can ask Susan for it too.
Max is a good boy.
Hey Patty, I’m trying to get your e~mail from Susan.
I am so sorry about your baby… that is something I don’t know how you deal with.
Patty: I’ll stay good, would make a lot of things difficult if i wasn’t.
Rod: That makes sense, but which comes first? The fear of death or the liberalism? Like the chicken and the egg (i think it was the egg, they dinosaurs had eggs way before chickens.
Max…just stay a good boy
They likely see death as The End. No more them. People with religious beliefs will tend to believe that it’s not the end, though they may still fear dying. We all fear the unknown but those that feel it’s NOT an unknown will have less fear. Many liberals also have a deep hatred of God, feeling him cruel, unfair, etc. And I think deep down they dislike having their actions judged. They dislike being held accountable for their acts.
When the one doing the judging can smite you, perhaps they are right to be fearful. -Rod-
Rod: That was just what i found, not sure why liberals fear death the most, a larger suvey would be needed to really see if it was true
Max,
That’s a logical conclusion I think…
KC, no rain down here today, just cold wind and sun. The birds don’t mind the rain. The Goldfinches will hang on the sock feeder all day long, rain or not, wind or not. It’s kind of surprising. The Hummingbirds tend to sit still in the rain but they do come in spurts to fuel up, sometimes sitting for a long time so as not to use any energy up. We had frost last night but they’re still here. They could have escaped south for a few days if they chose. We should hit 70 by friday but the nights will still be in the 30’s. -Rod-
Patty: My mother is 6 years older than you, and has only one child and no grandchildren (i’m a good boy
). I will have to make up for her lack of productiveness
Max,,we have 2 boys and 1 girl other than Kathy, she was the baby of the bunch. We also have 5 grandkids, with the 6th on the way.
Patty: did you have other children?
Max..that i do know and we’re thankful for the fact.
Rod: about selfish people going out screaming: I’ve been asking people i know if they fear death, and i have found a positive coralation between people who fear death, and their liberalness. Those who are terrified of death and do not accept the fact that they will die have been most liberal; those who are scared of death but accept the fact that someday they will die tend to be more in the middle; and those who accept death and do not fear it seem most on the right.
Patty: At least death is not the end, someday you’ll see her again.
Rod
You got that right - make some road kill out of that rodent.
How are the birds doing with this wind and rain today??
We had rain all day yesterday, but so far, just wind today. Our cement around the front porch and back patio is the most beautiful shade of green you ever saw. It is from rain, sun, rain, sun. Guess we will wait out the 6 weeks more of winter before we bleach everything out so the cement is back to normal.
Kristin…just a fyi…susan is in phoenix…she’s just plugging the derby for adam to go there for Jen S
KC, we need to track him down and skin him
I’m going to grab some lunch. -Rod-
Hey Susan in KY!
Good to meet you too and I do like my name after many years (teenager) of telling people to call me “Kris”. Now I prefer the Kristin and yet some people that don’t remember how to say my name still say Kris.
Rod,
I think that there would be nothing in this world that could induce me to travel to Aruba EVER. I wish and hope that more Americans would do the same. There are an amazing amount of places to go to where things are dealt with much better in the case of a crime.
Did anyone see the Mexican radio host on E.D? It was on during my lunch. He was pretty much admitting that illegals will be going to the polls with stolen identification. He claims they are doing it because they LOVE the US. ….lmao! They love the free ride they are getting here and don’t want it to end is more like it. GEEZ! What is GOING ON???
Thank God I can come here and read sane people or I would really wonder.
K2
Minnesota doesn’t care what the Republicans think and our vote doesn’t count because it is a Democratic state. I was listening to the state news on the radio and they played Hillary talking to the crowds yesterday and then jhust mentioned that Mitt was here too.
How people died, assuming they knew it was coming, was always a curious study in behavior for us there. It was interesting to note that mean, selfish people were the ones that seemed to go out screaming. -Rod-
Thanks KC
Rod…more likely her father
Good morning all
Patty - your daughter is beautiful - how lucky you are to have had her in your life. Thank you soooo much for sharing.
Rod - I guess we were wrong about the rodent - 6 more weeks of winter - YUK YUK YUK
Ya, its odd the preconceptions that people have. I guess cause hollywood makes it that way. Its just “natural” to me, but thats how i grew up. (Not the tragic deaths, nothing natural about them)
She got her mother’s good looks I assume
-Rod-
Patty,
One of my tasks at the hospital was taking my former patients down to the basement after the family had cleared out. No one wanted to do it. Even the guards had that to accompany hated going down there. Just an unmarked door 12 feet from some vending machines…-Rod-
thanks rod. she was, wasn’t she, well heck, she still is!
Patty,
I look at Kathy’s pics…stunning would be the word I’d choose. -Rod-
Rod, nothing weird really. Its a part of life.
Thank you Kathy. Now you understand why i like seeing your name.
Patty,
That must have been weird. -Rod-
Patty,
Kathy was beautiful, thanks again for letting us see her picture.
Rod…..truck and shovel……my dad was undertaker, that phone call just wouldnt have gone over very well!!
K2, BTW…being a child of privelege there, and considering all the attention the case has brought on the family, I’m sure him and his Dad had a heart to heart. He may not have called the old man, but dear old Dad has surely had his say and given his advice by now. -Rod-
K2,
Well, yeah…when they rearend someone with their car! I can’t imagine one of my daughters calling me up and saying, “Dad, could you bring the truck and a shovel?”
Adam made a new thread… he has stories about his traveling experience hahahahaha
Rod - LOL
Maybe I say that ’cause our kids call us if there is a problem!
But, I really do think it was his Dad. Maybe Dad knew who to call with the boat. Remember, Dad said early on - No body then No case!
Sorry for the delay…I had to go to the store.
Susan,
The weather’s changing so I’m borderline today. It could go either way. Thp!
KT,
The guy Van der Sloot was talking about did say he didn’t lose any sleep over it. A sociopath indeed. I agree people should just stay away from Aruba. If that hurts the Arubans, then it’s up to them to force their police and prosecutors to change their ways. They’ll have to get our money the old fashioned way…earn it
K2, I’ll check that name out and see what’s what. I gotta say though, if I’d killed someone, or just needed to get rid of a body, my Dad would be the last person on earth I’d call. -Rod-
P.S. I was just out in the car and I forgot to mention this–
Patty and Jen– you have mail in a couple of days-
Rod- you have warmth in a few days–
xxxxx
Susan, you are SO Funny!
By the way– Marty (ex) was there on a business trip- for small businesses and it so happens Jimmy Carter stood a few feet away from him– probably didn’t even see Marty–
just needed to clarify this- But I still wished he had stayed-
Hey Kristin–
good name– it is my daughter’s middle name- Danielle Kristin– named after Kristin who drove me to the hospital because my ex was in Washington hanging out with Jimmy Carter– I wish he had stayed there–
Speaking of which– She and I should be having our Xmas in the next week– after she gets done visiting her friends in Tucson– (friends first and then family)
And it is Ken’s niece’s name– she spells hers-Kristen–
nice meeting you– I am soooooooooo late–
Later susan!
Thank you Karen2
Too funny - cigars!

We’ve touched about every subject on here today.
Karen2Karen,
The snow here has let up but I am in the west central part of the state. Not as bad at the moment as south from the way things look. My kids are still in school.
I haven’t been to a caucus and I am wondering about it myself. I don’t like the way things are done here that much. I intend on finding out today though.
Patty,
That is a horrible story! Losing a child at any age is horrific!
Avi,
Thanks for the info. Very sad stuff!
Susan…I agree on Joran & his Daddy. What a pile of junk all that is.
susan…great minds think alike? he he
Yes, it was a motorcycle/farm tractor accident.
I thought maybe Bill was there because someone was giving away free cigars! ?
Lord Patty–
you and I were on the same page– as you were posting Kathy, I was asking you to do a slide show– You rock–
(she had a motorcycle accident? did you not tell Rod this once?)
My dearest friend in Mexico City did too– she was 16– no helmet–
Here’s the subject Susan mentioned.
http://housley.blogs.foxnews.com/2007/12/09/candle-light/
K2–
Bill was at ASU campaigning for his wife–
Patty–
last comment– where is that thread where you posted your daughter? Wasn’t it a thread to light up a candle- maybe in December? Your daughter is on there– so K2 can check out how adorable she is–
or do a slide show—-
xxxxxxx
You guys rock– (beat you to it KT–

Did I just read a comment by someone saying- good, now Adam can get back to real stories–
Hmm?– do you know how much our state needs funds– this was a real story— and these type of events brings people together instead of separating them– That is a real story– Or writing about dictators and wars are the only real stories? Generating publicity for other states helps the economy and broadens the minds of others- As when Adam writes about California, I am equally as interested because I can get a better perspective of that state– or any other state or country he writes about- whether it be an event or a crisis-
Signed,
Confused and Lost
Thank everyone.
There is a slide show here of our Kathy.

Susan, no worries. I’d rather talk about her, than ignore the fact. It really does help and make it a healing thing.
Clinton was there for the Super Bowl?
Rod, I don’t think it was the Croes guy. Van Der Sloot used a different name. A name that has never come up before. And, his attorney says it is the name of a person Sloot met in Holland.
I think his call was to his DAD. Who else would a ‘kid’ call?
Bill Clinton was here– I missed that one too- on purpose–
Adam is much cuter–
Patty,
I am so sorry for your loss of your daughter. {{{hug}}}
Patty-
me too- I just don’t bring her up because I don’t want to cross that line– only when you open the door–
oops– bystander
Avi,
You are one lucky guy. I am thankful every day that we do not have suicide bombers here. Although, I do believe Al Q would love to bring that kind of terror and devastation to us.
Rod–
Well Natalee got drugs from someone and somewhere– and I don’t think the Van der Slut is just an innocent by stander–
have a good day– hope you are feeling good–
Karen2…ya, it pretty much took the wind out of my sails
I was excited to have a say….
Patty, sorry to hear about your daughter. I’m sure she’s a beautiful girl.
I CAN NOT STAND THAT JORAN VAN DER SLUT AND HIS DAD!
THEY ARE BOTH COWARDS!
bye again–
Chuck– hope you come back in here and read my post– or where are you going to be and I will
just go make a nuisance of myself– ask Adam-
Rod I forgot about that guy! He’s the one that came forward and said he took the boat out with Urine van der Sloot in it that night. Amazing how he was able to do all of this then go to school the next morning and pass an exam. Indicative of a sociopath. I still do not have faith in their judicial system and I wish Americans would not allow their children to go there. That place is an accident waiting to happen.
Patty, after reading my paper today, that I can ‘vote’ at the caucus, my vote doesn’t necessary count! The paper described it as a ‘beauty contest’. That each candidate will get a feel for their strength in our state.
The purpose is to select delegates who will go to district and legislative district conventions.
There they choose who goes to the convention. So much for a voice in all this. I am so disappointed.
I, too am more accustomed to the primary. Don’t care much for this caucus stuff.
The above is for the Republican Caucus - guess they don’t trust us to have a brain!
For the Democrats, they also vote. But, their votes DO count and each candidate gets a percentage. Appears to be the fairer way….. Maybe I should go to the Dem Caucus.
Adam can hardly wait for more pix.
You guys are all over on topics. Glad they caught that murderer before he got to Mexico.
Hey Adam–
I am back for a bit–
Ask Chuck if he wants to meet for dinner tomorrow? I will buy– he just has to tell me where he is at- Today is a bad day– but tomorow is good–
Chuck– I won’t go crazy with the camera– just a few shots- do you like Mexican food? Where are you? Here is my number– 623-537-7030– casual- yes?– I hate that dressing up stuff–
We will make it early since you are taking off probably the next day–
lol-
Susan- Phx—
No matter what direction we look in….the stories are all so sad

Adam,

Update

IDF troops operating in Hebron late Monday arrested the father of one of the suicide bombers who perpetrated the attack in Dimona which killed one woman and wounded 38 others.
Terror strikes Dimona
Woman killed, 38 wounded in Dimona suicide bombing attack.
Following the raid, defense officials told the Jerusalem Post that there was a growing assessment within the security establishment that the Dimona attackers came from Hebron, and not from the Gaza Strip as was earlier claimed by the Palestinian faction, Fatah.
The officials further said that the terrorists were able to easily infiltrate Israeli territory as the security fence south of Hebron Hills has yet to be built, and there are no obstacles preventing such an infiltration from that point to Dimona.
Addressing the question of why the attackers chose to target Dimona and not Beersheba, which is closer in proximity to Hebron, the defense officials raised the possibility that the terrorists had once worked in Dimona, and were therefore more comfortable targeting the city.
On Monday morning, a 20-year-old woman was killed and 38 people were wounded, one critically, when a suicide bomber detonated a bomb at a Dimona commercial center.
“Monday’s terror attack gives us a painful reminder that we must be vigilant and maintain our readiness in all areas,” Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in reaction.

“We are waging a war on terror. It is continuing without bounds and we will get to everyone involved in terror activity,” said Olmert during a Kadima faction meeting.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that the attack justified his decision to remain in the coalition. “If someone among us needed a greater understanding regarding the complexity of the situation we’re in, unfortunately, he could have found it today in Dimona,” Army Radio quoted Barak as saying.
Police said the bombing was carried out by two attackers, but only one succeeded in detonating his explosives. The other terrorist was wounded in the explosion and was then killed - seconds before he could detonate his explosives belt - by Kobi Mor, a police officer from an elite unit who happened to be at the scene.
The Aksa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for planning the attack, saying it had been in the works for about a month. In a press conference convened by the terror group, the two bombers were named as Mussa Arafat, from Khan Yunis, a member of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades - the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Aksa operative Luwi Luwani from the Gaza Strip.
Aksa spokesman Abu Fouad said that the two bombers entered Israel from Egypt after Hamas blew up the Gaza-Egypt border wall. However, the claim was later denied by the group.
Earlier, in an apparent attempt to divert attention from the Gaza connection, the group had claimed the bombers were from the West Bank.
Dimona resident Rosa Elberg, said that the bomber detonated his explosives inside a café.
“It is like a war, people are running like crazy,” she told Channel 2. “I didn’t see anyone suspicious. I heard a boom and my ears are still ringing.”
Another eyewitness told Israel Radio that many people were at the commercial center at the time because of the sunny weather.
Shalom Bar Avi, a journalist speaking to Channel 10, said “I am here no longer as a journalist but as a simple citizen … I pray and hope my wife is okay.”
Bar Avi praised the police’s quick response to the attack, and said Mor, the officer who identified the second attacker shot “four or five times … he took no chances.”
Later Mor’s heroism was revealed in detail: He shot the terrorist in the head, and when the latter in his last breath still tried to press the detonator button, shot him four more times and killed him. Mor managed to kill the terrorist before he could explode and without hitting his explosive belt, thus preventing a much more devastating attack.
A police officer speaking to Channel 10 praised Mor’s quick response and said he acted “in the best possible way, all considerations taken into account.”
Southern Israel has been on alert against terror attacks since Hamas breached the border with Egypt.
The last suicide attacker to succeed in penetrating Israel and detonating his explosives was Muhammad Faisal Saksak, on January 29, 2007 in Eilat.
Three people were killed in that attack.
Details on wounded evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba can be received by phone at 1255-177.

The aruba story just gets more heartbreaking. I got so wrapped up in that story early on, it was only a few months after our own daughter (the same age as natalie) died. If I was caught up in her story, i didnt have to feel my own pain.
Although, mine was waiting for me…something you cant hide from.
That amber alert came across our weather radio yesterday. So close to home for us.
What did we do before technology??
We were just talking about the caucus stuff at lunch here. I’ve never heard of it till this year. Didnt realize that is what Kansas is doing this year.
Dont know that we even will.
what happend to a primary????
The closest one to us is over and hour (1 way)…well how fair is that system??? grrrrrrrrr
most people wont bother to go
That’s what I’m saying, KT, yes. He’s minimizing his role. In his eyes, a few years for disposing of her body would be preferable than life for raping and strangling her. They haven’t said who had the boat but I assume it was the party-boat guy. Looks like he’s done for too. -Rod-
Rod, I heard that people who admit to a crime undermine their own involement. If that’s true he could have done a lot more than what he admitted to on the tape. He’s suggesting that she died on her own and his fault was disposing of her body. I’m not buying that.
Y’know, that kid, Joran van der Sloot, is maybe wiley like a fox, admitting to only disposing of the body but not killing her. Trouble is, he admits not knowing for sure she was dead, so at the very least there’s a case for manslaughter (though Aruba can’t prove she was alive at that point).
Fearful he might be found out somehow, someday, and suspecting he was being bugged, this could be his way of getting through it with as little risk to himself as possible. It helps to have a judge for a father, huh?
Patty it just doesn’t stop. Thank goodness we have the Amber Alert system.
Hopefully now Adam can get back to doing some real news stories.
Patty - so sad. But, as you said, glad they found him and the little boy.
Kristin,
It is snowing like crazy here (MN - Twin Cities)!
Have you ever been to a caucus here in MN?
After reading the article in todays paper, am wondering about the whole process.
at least there is some sort of good (ish) news today. But that doesnt help the mother and daughter
This one didnt make it to mexico and the little boy (amber alert yesterda) is ok!!!!
DENTON, Texas (AP _ Police say a man wanted in the disappearance of a 3-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, boy has been found with the child in north Texas.
They say little Seth Guerrero is fine and uninjured,” and his father, Andrew Anthony Guerrero, is in the custody of police in Denton, north of Dallas.
Police had been looking for Guerrero and his father since the boy’s mother and her baby girl were found shot to death in their home Sunday. Police identified the dead as 23-year-old Nicolette Lyons-Reed and her 8-month-old daughter, Leah Lyons-Reed
I agree Kristin!
