Clemens on Capitol Hill: Who’s Lying?
by Jamie Colby
Are you watching the Congressional hearings on the alleged steroid use by Roger Clemens? Roger Clemens ended his opening statement in an emphatic way…insisting that he has never used human growth hormone or steroids. Never.
Brian McNamee continuing to insist he is not lying and that he did inject Roger Clemens. In fact he states today that now that he has had a chance to think about it, he injected Roger Clemens more times than he previously testified to.
So with both Clemens and McNamee insisting their positions are correct….
Who do you believe is telling the truth about whether Roger juiced up?

Does congress have anything else better to do? Let the industry police itself! And Congress should serve the rest of the country.
This congress is something else. Oil is over $100 a barrel, a refinery in Texas is burning, gas is well over $3.00 per gallon. They mandate ethenol made from corn which has driven up the price of almost everything we eat. Our electric grid, bridges, and roads need repair. And what is this congress focused on? Steroids in MLB. What part of the constitution grants them this power?
25 years ago Congress made a mess of the immigration system and today we have thousands of murderers, rapists and theives (real criminals) roaming our streets. What is the answer Congress advances? Harass a real American patriot and hero, I personally have always rooted against Roger Clemens except when he played for Team USA.
Got news for anyone who believes Clemens…..you obviously have not been in the athletic world enough to know….heaven knows those congressmen and women are clueless….OF COURSE Clemens did HGH and steroids, there is not one ounce of doubt in my mind. The athletic world is rampant with this stuff and has been for years….you have to spend time in it to see just how bad it is….and I’m not just talking baseball….there is boxing, track, football, etc (not as sure how prevalent it is in basketball)….however, athlete’s feel forced to do it in a way because everyone else is and it is impossible to compete without that advantage, and it IS an advantage, doesn’t make you a better hitter but bigger, faster, stronger one!
It is none of the Congress’s business. Congress is just distracting the people from real issues at hand. They should use our money to do Congressional business> Leave the issues of private sector entertainment alone.
This is a witch hunt. The trainer is LYING through his teeth. He says that over a two year period he gave Roger 12 shots. For the sake of argument is all twelve were stroids that would barly be enough for a 6 week cycle. Barly enough to do anything much less if you string it out over 104 weeks. Either he (the trainer) is either lying or is the most incompetant trainer of all time.
This is my comment to the Roger Clemens ’story.’ I am in agreement with many of the comments made by the public on your website stating…’Who cares,” and “Why is our government wasting time and money on investigating this?” and might I not add, “Are there not more important issues concerning our government at this time in our lives?”
It isn’t bad enough we are bombarded with unnecessary information concerning people such as Britney Spears, Paris and Barron Hilton, Amy Winehouse. Will our obsessions with other people’s lives and dirt ever end?
Come on, there people, is gossip and airing out other people’s misconduct what made our nation great?
There are more important issues related to the people of the United States that need the attention of our Government officials than whether or not Roger Clemens was injected by HGH. Who knows? Who cares? Certainly not me or many other people I see who have written into this website. I guess my question is this…
IF WE ALL FEEL THIS WAY HOW DID THESE PEOPLE GET ELECTED TO EVEN REPRESENT US, SINCE MOST OF US THINK THAT THE ENTIRE SITUATION CONCERNING ROGER CLEMENS SHOULD NOT BE A GOVERNMENTAL ISSUE!!!??? Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?
I can’t believe they are wasting our tax money on this!
Pray tell me why is congress wasting time on this totally abused sport when nothing will come of it? Do we not have much more important things to take care of that they can actually do something about? I am so sick of the way congree conducts themselves at WE the Taxpayers expense.
I have no doubt Clemens used all sorts of drugs—he must have listened to Bill Clinton speaches and picked up on the i don’t remembers or OJ and his lies!!!!! This is what happens when big bucks are at stake. Not a one of sports players are worth that kind of money–big money creates greed and abuse and law breaking and they thing they are holier than Thou. What a shame and very poor examples for anyone let alone our kids.
I think it is ridiculous that this is before congress. Who cares it was years and years ago. And I don’t believe Congress of ALL people should be the Morality police!!!! This is costing all of us taxpayers thousands and I think that it reminds me of the hearings in McCarthy’s time - pits neighbors and friends against each other. Wonder how much the trainer and the friends are making to testify??? If I was Clemen’s I would sue each for defamation or to produce proof!
Congress can’t get anything else done so they have taken on the roll of Gran Jury. I can’t beleive that we have elected members of our congress that act the way these people do. If you want to find out who is telling the truth. We need to send “Mom” to these hearings and tell them ” tell me the truth or all hell will break loose when your Dad gets home”.
They are all acting like a bunch of school kids.
I agree, with the majority of baseball players already are using steroids… it is just a waste of time and money to try and fight it.
What congressman has a personal connection with this matter? Is this really a problem that they should be handling? I have never seen such a misuse of tax payers’ money in my whole life. An investigation on why this is an issue that any congressman feels that they should be involved needs to happen. Someone with no political knowledge would know this should not be handled in congress.
If I was involved in a he said he said thing I’m sure I would not get a congressional hearing to sort it out. This is not a job for our congress. I wonder how many other hearings such as this are going on that the American people are not aware of. I think congress should be investigated and held accountable for such a blatant misuse of their power. I am disappointed in the Fox News network. If anything the network should be discussing how this is so wrong and not having us vote on who is telling the truth. I would expect this from NBC not Fox News!!
WHO CARES!!! At the time he supposedly did those drugs it was technically not banned from MLB. Don’t these people have something better to do thAn WASTING TAXPAYERS MONEY!!
Surely there are more important things to do.
Who cares!!! I can’t believe Congress is spending taxpayers’ dollars on this stinkin subject. If they can’t find better ways to spend our hard earned money, then send more money to the “War On Terror” I’m sure our Military could use the money and this is a subject worth spending our tax dollars on. If they can’t find anything else to do with their time, I’m sure the American people can find good, hard working people who can find worth while issues to work on. I’m disgusted.
No one through of asking Mcnamee, if he Injected Clemens with Steroid without Clemens being Awear of it, This maybe Why Mcnamee claim he is saying the Turth, when he Claim he Injected Clemens with Steroid, I Belive Clemens to be saying the Turth.
Having been trained and experienced in the art of interview and interrogation I feel confident that Roger Clemens is lying about his past drug use. Clemens’ testimony during the congressional hearing was scripted and practiced. If you really want to see a good interview watch the 60 minutes interview of Clemens and you can see the red flags flying everywhere. I made my decision about Clemens’ truthfulness or lack thereof while watching the 60 minutes interview.
I do believe though that is ridiculous that Congress is wasting taxpayer money investigating sports players using performance enhancing drugs. If a crime has been commited then a law enforcement agency should be conducting the investigation. The congressional hearing made me sick to my stomach.
Why Would Mcnamee Save Syringe & Bloody Cotton ball for 8 years, Unless he was Up to No Good and why continue to work for Someone you Dont Trust ,Unless you want to get back at Clemens for what ever the reason he dont Trust Clemens
And No One has Through that Maybe Mcnamee did Injected Sterold without Clemens being awear he was being Injected with Steroid by Mcnamee,
Also when Strawberry was In & Out of jail from useing Street Drugs, the Goverment did not get Involved, why Now!
I can’t believe I even watched any of this on tv. However, I did! I think Roger is telling the truth. McNamee is a drug pusher on drug dealer and we are suppose to believe him. I think not. Congress wake up, do something better with my tax money. Lottie
As far as this debate goes why this was bought up to congress as there are more important things to talk about, very much right Congress should should stay away from this this and should concentrate on their job.
And regarding whos lying and whos not, in my opinion.. Roger Clemens is and i pity on him.. i saw the whole 4 and half hr hearing that was held yesterday and Clemens is the one who should be prosecuted with all the evidence gatehered stated by waxman. And on the other hand Brian admitted of giving drugs to these guys only if they asked and he came out clear but the comments passed from Davis and others republicans to Brian were not fair.
Absolute disgrace to both Congress and Baseball league!!
Roger Clemens is lying and should be prosecuted for perjury. Anyone who watched those hearings and thinks he’s telling the truth is just plain stupid. I couldn’t be anymore obvious. he and barry Bonds might be able to share a cell.
OK
I believe this is very important. Children should not look up to athletes or any celebrity who participate in illegal drug use. Whatever happened to “JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS”? Shame on you Roger, Mrs. Clemens, Andy, Barry and so on.
Ok, so Roger Clemens allows his wife to take HGH, but yet he had no part in using it himself?? This humors me…. It’s like this…….. “Here honey, go ahead and take this stuff, it’ll treat you right”, “Have you ever taken it Roger”? “NO, but I’ve heard it works wonders”!
Come on! Please!
Athletes are not who they USED to be.
On a related subject, Arlen Specter and Congress should keep their noses out of the NFL too.
UNBELIEVABLE…
Here is a perfect example of why the Democrat party’s “meddling” plan for our future will send us straight into the abyss…
Our elected representatives should be worried about our NATIONAL INTERESTS, like border control, illegal immigration and the war on terror… NOT THE NATIONAL PASTIME… BASEBALL!!!
HOLY SMOKES!!! No wonder we’re in such a mess! Send this world-shaking dilemma to back to the commissioner of baseball and the courts… and GET BACK TO WORK CONGRESS!!!
Is THIS what I am sending my grandsons’ inheritance to Washington for?!!!
I am SO VERY TIRED of hearing about Roger Clemens. I don’t know for sure if he is innocent or guilty of the charges brought against him. Obviously there is some serious lying going on in these proceedings. Have we not learned from the previous perjury scandals of the past? There is NOTHING worth commiting perjury for.
I will be so HAPPY when our news media, and the rest of the country moves on.. There are so very many more important issues that should be concerned with.
I do believe that this is to drawn out. We as Americans are more concerned with other issues such as our men and women defending our country. No, I think that Clemen’s should be help accountable for his actions, but I really do not see the point in dragging something as ignorant as this situation all over the internet, and on the televison. Is this what my tax money is for? I will agree with the other 800 comments… “WHO CARES”
I believe McNamee. He may be a liar, but his lies seem to be in the direction of revealing the least possible amount of “evidence” in an attempt to let his clients come forward as honorably as possible. I can almost hear Clemens saying to McNamee in times past something to the effect of “If you ever tell anyone I used steriods, I’ll deny it, and you’ll go down.”
I read so many times who cares I’m sure Roger Clemen’s cares. If it was you and there was no truth to this wouldn’t you want your name cleared. Roger I want to say I think most people saw you were telling the truth today. You could look them in the eye. McNamee kept putting his head down. When people lie they can’t look you in the eye. I would like to know what plans McNamee had for all that evidence in the future nobody keeps that kind of thing unless they had something evil in mind.. As far as his friend how do we know he didn’t lie and his wife to. If his friend would take these drugs how can we believe him doesn’t impress me much. Most users will say anything. As far as Henry Waxman what a disgrace shame on you for making your thoughts so public you could have at least been respectful and how rude he was to one of the REP. I hope some good can come from this maybe young people will see what a horrible time you can have when you have people around you that has no feeling towards others only for them self and how bad these drugs are. We need to come up with an answer not just have this on the news and then let it drop.Young people if you’re using these drugs please stop think about what you’re doing to your body. How can you tell when McNamee is lying you see his lips moving!
This whole baseball scandal is obsurd. What a waste of American Tax Dollars!!
It’s shamefull what this country is coming to. I mean, I agree with Bowman, our American boys
are in harms way, “WE” are giving our country away to illegal aliens and Hilary Clinton is running for president and what are we doing?, crucifying Americas favorite pastime!
Wake up and smell the tortillas America! Fight back, do whatever you can as an American citizen
to stop the ludacracy! I would much rather my tax dollars go to “The big fence” rather than
waste them worrying about Roger Clemens. Let MLB and the fans burn him down.
EVERYONE…don’t worry about it, Baseball is no longer Americas favorite past time!!!! Bullfighting will soon be Americas “New” favorite pastime. I wonder if Matadors take steroids?
Roger Clemens could have avoided all kinds of problems and this potential disgrace of his entire career, had he just simply admitted like every other player mentioned in the Mitchell Report did.
But no, he had to be like Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds and now he faces the huge Cobra instead of the tiny worm.
This hearing was a waste of time. The republicans acted as if they wanted to endorse Clemens for Congress or the Governorship of Texas. Burton acted like a neanderthal and Davis acted like Clemens’ defense attorney. As Al Smith used to say,”let’s look at the record”. Clemens was a mediocre pitcher for three years(only 2 wins over .500) prior to alleged steroid use. For the 7 years as a regular starter afterwards Clemens won over 150 games at an age when pitchers are ususally unsuccessful and retire. Is “something rotten in Denmark?” Furthermore, Clemen’s head and neck are sized similar to Bonds. Clemens looked and acted like that other fellow who lied under oath(Slick Willie) about Monica Lewinsky. Probably Clemens will get away with perjury. But poor Martha Stewart didn’t and went to jail. Pettite acted honorably. Too bad his friend and teammate failed to admit his crimes.
I can’t say which is telling the truth lets all be smart about this. He is not going to admit to and the other fellow who knows why he done what he done. But make it illegal and drop the hammer on anyone in the future that gets caught. But no one was caught they are just going on a word of a man that has been known to lie. So that is that weigh it out. This is the kinda of crap we as citizens should be concerned about. Spending all that money just to see if Clemons is lieing or not. Leave it to the lawyers in cival court.
Congress, Please get back to your real job. Did Congress forget we have a war going on? Is this what we are spending our tax money? What a shame!!!
I’m tired of our congresssmen wasting taxpayer dollars on steroid investigations. The players are rich and overpayed. That’s just what they need is more attention. Our politicians need to focus on what’s important like rising gas prices and the war.
I am ticked off that Congress is sooo lame and is wasting our tax dollars and time…
what a waste of time for these bozo’s…
but,
yes to answer your question…
I think Roger is lying.
Bottom line, I couldn’t care less about this crap.
I think this is a disgrace. How in the world are they going to prove this now? And, who cares. We have school closings and people who are losing their homes daily. Why in the world are we wasting money looking into this?
Who cares. Why is Congress acting as a disgruntled step-father? Aren’t their people in this country more capable and skilled who can investigate these legal matters? And another thing, did Clemens or this other clown directly lie or offend any person of Congress? This baseball drama queen crap is really getting old.
I came from the Philippines (where everybody plays basketball) and now living in Indonesia (where soccer / football is top on people’s list). I do not follow baseball nor were ever and still not inclined to do so - but after watching last night’s (Indonesia time that is) congressional hearings - I believe Mr. Clemen’s story.
I don’t know why but for me, Mr. McNamee has more to gain than loose by “juicing-up” his story by implicating high profile players. How many times have he written to various papers saying different things - and don’t tell me he doesn’t get paid for that? I will not be surprised if he later on comes up with a book…
Well, good luck to Mr. Clemens!
Why the kangaroo court?
Unsubstantiated allegations made by an admitted liar and drug dealer is hardly credible evidence. No court of law would have ever entertained this circus we saw today.
Clemens should never been included in the Mitchell report to begin with. If Senator Mitchell can’t meet the legal requirement for proof, then he would have been wise to keep his thoughts and opinions to himself. But congressmen are use to saying whatever they want without any accountability. Defamation and liable are merely tools of their trade.
Henry Waxman was so self-righteous about his concern for the children, and the poor example being set for our children. Wasn’t he one of the big supporters of our former Adultrer in Chief? The President of the United States who perjuried himself in a civil lawsuit?
The judicial system is set up to protect every American against the harassment we witnessed today being portrayed by our Congress. Statuates of limitations and rules of evidence have a purpose and meaning. Sadly, Mr. Clemens never received a presumption of innocence that he deserved. And to what end? Face time for politicians. Roger had to try to protect his integrity and I for one applaud him.
Yes sir, the Democratic Congress is really doing the business of American, or better said, doing the business TO America.
I agree with those who say this is a waste of Congress’s time and our money. We have Americans getting killed in an undeclared war, the economy is tanking and government spending is out of control. Let MLB sort out MLB’s problems. Let the fans vote with their wallets. Congress, this is none of your business. Check the Constitution and look for the part about baseball.
Gas 3.00$ a gallon.
Taxed to death.
We are in a WAR to the death with a bunch of CRAZY PEOPLE and we must win.
Lobbist buying off MY Government.
People losing Jobs and Homes.
Elderly need help.
Children need better educations
Gangs in the streets.
Illegals over running our country and I’m paying for it.
Congress PISSING away MY SS.
AND WHAT ARE THESE FOOLS DOING??? GRILLING A BASEBALL PLAYER ABOUT DRUGS!!
VOTE THEM ALL OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much time to waste on a sports issue… Wonder why their rating is so low?
By the way… aren’t we the ones who pay their salaries with our tax dollars? Feel like you’re getting your money’s worth? So why keep re-electing them?
Watched most of the proceedings, McNamee is a liar and an illegal drug pusher that is way over his head on this one. Clemens is trying to save his butt for posterity and is flat lying with help of his legal counsel. Congress on the other hand is reflecting their ineffectiveness to resolve rightfully all matters. By staying along party lines, Dems favor McNamee and Reps Clemens it becomes apparent their grandstanding attitude. Now we start hearing from talk radio callers about the race card Clemens v Barry Bonds…how sad all of it!
Nobody cares about the truth, it does not matter. It is all a farce and we will never get to the bottom. Everyone is trying to cover and save their own hide. It is a sad state of affairs; it very much reflects the pathetic make-money side of sports and the inefficient government system we have. It is time to show the good morals and sound principals that we preach to have.

No wonder this congress has such a low approval rating!! What an absolute disgrace!! Stop wasting the taxpayers money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep reading alot of comments that say this is an unimportant story, or this is news? I am a retired drug free powerlifter. I have only ever lifted in drug free drug tested competitions. I can’t tell you how many times I have allowed my urine to be tested when asked to after winning competitions. This problem is bigger than most people know. It affects children on up to adults. From the high school coach that will do anything for his team to win, to and especially professional sports. I have such a hard time trying to convince people that professional athletes can not possibly beat themselves up so much in practice and be back in action the next day. Doesn’t anybody ever wonder how some of the injurys that happen to alot of these guys heal so very fast? Ever wonder why there back in action in a week or two when it would take you a month and a half to heal from that same injury? They are either A: real supermen or B: on steroids! I pick B. cause that IS whats happening. I’m glad this has gone so far as it has. Maybe peoples eyes will open and the public will get wise to all these liars. The public needs to know that pretty much since the latter part of the 60’s ANY record or event that has occured and was not drug tested IS suspect! As long as no one gets the fact that professional sports are no more real than professional wrestling because of steroids, this will continue. The public needs to stop turning theyr back to this fact. They are really bad drugs but you will be hard pressed to find counselors or help for this problem anywhere! the same people that say drugs are bad to people all day long ( counselors and doctors) can’t wait to go see a ball game when they go home! So how are there patients really supposed to believe them? Most importanly why would you tell your kids it’s ok to do these things by letting them watch these sports? This is a problem that need to be adressed NOW. Or you may do better watching monday night raw!
did you also see how Clemens didn’t want to call his buddy a liar just said he was misunderstood.. Why would Pettite lie He was Clemens friend and told the truth about himself so why lie for Roger and get a perjury rap
Clemens is lying and gave it all up when he admitted that his wife unknown to him was injected once with HGH Didnt McNamee say he injected her once for a SI cover in which Roger was also included. How would MCnamee be in contact with Rogers wife unless Roger put them in contact and if not how would she have known McNamee had access or was administering HGH unless Roger told her. And you would have to be an idiot to believe McNamee injected Rogers wife without his permission. Roger knew it was true and was trying to protect himself in case his wife would testify and not lie for him and it also protected her from persery if she was called and lied
As McNamee said I named 3 guys for steroids and HGH and two admitted only Roger denied it and now the fourth hisd wife actually admitted it through Roger because had she not told him how would he have known. Also if McNamee injected Clemens wife and if Roger was clean and didnt do drugs he would have gone crazy knowing what McNamee did to his wife
Husker15 - whether it is Congress’ job or not to oversee Baseball - this is ridiculous! They used our taxpayer monies to glamorize themselves for their own self-indulgence. If they conduct these types of meetings all the time and this one happen that gets the media attention - that is pathetic. I am glad you brought this up to everyone that this goes on even behind closed doors - you have truly served this quorum well. The same conclusion resulted from their show boat comedy - there truly is a liar and we will all have to draw our own conclusions. However, this should be an eye opener to everyone on this quorum to realize what direction our government is going in and how they prioritize the many issues in our country. I am more worried about the open borders that allow the cocaine, heroin, criminals and terrorist in our country - I could careless about the monitoring of Baseball. Are you saying we should because it is a big business? That shouldn’t cause panic - believe it or not big business’ puts food on all of our plates - it is a trickle down effect - without them - we are sunk - even our fat Congressmen.

They can’t prove anything at this point and why waste the taxpayers money dealing with it. McNamee is a slimeball just trying to get attention. Let’s get back to the work of the NATION!! I believe Clemens is definitely telling the truth. There are too many holdes in McNamee’s stories and even admits he lied on certain issues. Why do they want to believe him. Let’s have this over and get on with their jobs and duties.
Clemens is a liar and a cheat He gave it all up when he said ” my wife took HGH once unknown to him” What a bunch of BS A few days ago McNamee said he injected Clemen’s wife once with HGH for a photo shoot of her in SI which Roger was also in. Roger was protecting his wife from a perjury charge in case she testified and lied or if she told the truth about the HGH injection by McNamee Where else would she have gotten the HGH except from McNamee and how would she have known he had HGH unless she knew her husband was getting it from him. Also there is no way McNamee would have dared to imject her with Clemens knowledge and OK and the only access McNamee had to her was thru Clemens No way he can explain that and isnt it funny he said about the wife and everyone was asking “what is that about” Clemens admits to it and as McNamee says I gave three names of who I injected already two have admitted to it and Roger is the only oner denying iy Now the wife storty is also true plus Rogers friend implcated Roger and he is a friend who has no reason to implicate Roger if it is not true He did it because he didnt want to perjer kimself in regards to using steroids and HGH so why lie for Roger
Roger is GUILTY , GUILTY , GUILTY !!!!!!!!!!!!! He, like Bonds should never make it to the Hall of Fame . I hope the both of them go to jail.
Since when did a grand jury hold hearings in the open. What a partisan political circus. I thought this committee was for oversight not prosecution of single individuals. What happened to our court system anyway? Did congress abolish that also.
Personally I believe Clemens is innocent. Anyone who doesn’t know what a vegan is can’t possibly know about HGH. Congress is a waste. Congress woman Foxx’s poster of Cemens over 10 years said it all. Where was the body change usually associated with steroids? There weren’t any changes.
Most daming info today seemed to be petite. Having been involved in litigation in my life, I have seen how a conversation of something I said was heard totally different by the other person. That person also was a good friend and I know they believed what they heard, but that is not what I had said.
As to the crdibility of McNamee, I would not trust him with sewage. And that yahoo in the middle of the two from the Mitchell group, I advise anyone who has not seen him to watch this for a while and focus on him. He to me looks like a kid who got kicked out of the games because he had no talent and now found a way to attack the big boys who would not let him play. His facial expressions and body movement say a lot.
Ok, what about the bloody gauze and syringes. Seems like if they had any real value, that the Democrats would also have had them DNA tested and if so conclusive, would have made that the centerpiece of their attack. Roger’s blood on a piece of gauze is no proof as he would have had easy access to his blood. Even if they found blood traces in a syringe, I am sure they had no proof that he had not planted it. this guy was a former cop in NY where I am sure that he had knolwege of how to plant evidence. So it is mentioned, but nothing is presented as the smoking gun.
Finally Roger is worth millions, will probably never play baseball again, and would not risk going to prison for perjury. He could simply say no comment like everyone else and do whatever he wants to with statements through the willing media. He does not need to go to these hearings where nothing will happen and put himself at risk of jail. No, I think he is innocent and that this yahoo in the middle was most willingly duped by the jerk McNamee. Show me the proof guys before you tear apart a mans reputation.
no wonder Democratic lead congress has such a low rating with the public….. lower than the President…… as they tackle the tough issues of the world, crime, war, economy with focus on Baseball and the NFL Can’t count on Congress to provide meaningful leadership.
What business does Congress have in this?? They are NOT doing thier job!! If they worked directly for me, they would be fired !! WE need Congress to get back to work on clearing up laws that contradict each other or are outdated. None have ever looked those laws. Also, I don’t pay for expected work not done. This is just window dressing for re-election.
Mcnamee did not sink Clemmens, Pettite and Knobloch sealed the deal against Clemmens in my mind! Roger actually said Any Pettite, a person who he said in the past was one of his best friends in the world, “MIS-REMEMBERED” what Roger said. Give me a break!!!!!! Mcnamee in my mind was the 3rd bit a proof Roger used this stuff.
Congress hard at work wasting my tax money on an issue nobody cares about. This should help their approval rating. Waxman is the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform? Ha what a joke. Why don’t he oversee himself out and stop wasting out time and money on this nonsense.
ONE whats is bthe Big deal. us gov. allows steroids in our food chain to increase food production. To be a athlete they all use something to improve there bodies. Congress should INVESTIGATE THEMSELVES FOR ALL THE CORRUPTION THAT IS IN THE GOV. aND DO THERE JOBS TO IMPROVE AMERICANS LIVES AND QUIT SCREWING AMERICAN LIVES.
Whatever happened to due process and the fifth amendment? Why should Clemens have to testify at all? Let his accusers prove he broke the law, and then they can strip him of his honors if they find him guilty. Since when can the report of some third party be used to convict someone without due process?
William E. Graham. Salem, Oegon
As George Constanza once said on Seinfeld, “It’s not a lie if you believe it”. Heck almost sounds like a Clintonism…..I digress. Many people would have to be lying to validate Clemen’s version of the truth, I don’t buy it. I think back to when he was feuding with M Piazza. The whole bean ball and thrown broken bat incident. Just reinforces Clemens was on the juice having a roid rage. Embarressing and sad. Arguably the two most prominent MLB players over the last 10-15 yrs are now forever attached to roids: Clemens and Bonds.
I will agree that it is a waste of taxpayer money, but it be came the government’s job when they gave major league baseball an anti-trust exemption. What really bothered me was Henry Waxman’s appology to Brian McNamee at the conclusion. The fact that he was grilled on his own, self admitted lies and his use of an unearned phd. he received from a diploma mill does not deserve an appology. As committee chair, as for as I am concerned, his behavior was unprofession and unethical. He has no right to express any opinion of guilt or innocence to either party. Had he been a judge this would have been grounds for a mistrial.
What really bothers me about this mess is how you all support a pathological, admitted liar in Brian McNamee. You nabobs of negativity that are so self-rightous in calling for Clemens head, are totally laugable and disgust me. I beleive Roger Clemens untill proven guilty. To date there has been no trail to prove his guilt. So untill that ever occurs, I beleive the man…..
Who Cares! These people are only giving our children the wrong idea on how to succeed. I don’t care what they do to themselves but I do care what is happening to the game.
Congress should stay out of this. They can’t PROOVE anything. How can they? It’s he said-he said. Besides, sense when to those who make law enforce law? Just wasting more millions!
Please spare us. We are wasting taxpayers dollars when there are so many more important things to do
with our money. We need to move forward instead of backward. It’s ridiculous. Fine anyone caught doing
drugs privately & move on !
I am a Yankee fan, so some may say I’m biased. However, I am an American before anything else and I think it is a disgrace that the Congress has injected itself once again in this subject. Especially in this way. Their main source is a man who is a documented liar and who is so slimmy that he agrees that he supplies and injects people with steroids, agrees that steroids are an illegal drug, but rejects that he was a drug dealer. This man is mental. If he can manipulate his way of thinking to actually believe he was not dealing in drugs, what else has he convinced himself of?
Rep Waxman and his entire Committee should be impeached immediately! With all the problems facing our country, (War, Recession, etc) they surely should address these problems instead of trying to determine whether Roger Clemens took HGH, Steroids, or ??. I am not condoning the use of these drugs, or any illegal drugs, I just don’t believe it is the duty of Congress to ‘Police’ Professional Sports!
It has been said that even Bud Selig the commish of baseball knew about drug use and did nothing. So he is just as guilty to let this go on. Like Mitchell said, its in the past, let it stay there, and move on. And if Bud Selig thinks this is so important, let baseball pay for this hearing, not us. They made enough money last year, to pay for the committee’s time. I would like to see hearings of why Medical insurance is so high. Put that under scrutiny.
Both men are telling the truth. Clemens thought he was getting a B12 shot and instead McNamee was giving him B12 and also the HGH and steroid shot. After Clemens is belly down on the table and McNamee could inject him with anything pluss the B12. Think about it. You can figure this out by the way McNAMEE talked and expressed himself and they way Clemens was so positive. McNamee missled Clemens in believing what injection he was getting. I watched the whole program. Thanks for vewing my comment.
Roger Clemens is innocent! Of course, the Congressional panel can’t do a thing had he said the opposite. This still makes my blood boil that these elected officials have nothing better to do than THIS? JEEZ………. Throw the BUMS out! The Congressmen that is………
Another congressional vaudeville act. A disgusting waste of time and money. Those people are only interested in getting face time on national TV, and looked pretty stupid in the process. Sure, MLB has big-time problems, but our national lawmakers are making a spectacle of themselves trying to resolve them. I was waiting for an apparition of Billy Martin to make an appearance, proclaiming, “I feel very strongly BOTH ways!”.
