At GHWB, you can see all sorts of stuff. On Presidents day they have a speaker that is like a character of Teddy Roosevelt. It is a great holiday place to go. During Christmas they did a minature whitehouse exhibit. The have changing exhibits and existing ones. The changing exhibit last year on President’s day had the Hearst that carried JFK to Air Force one. You forget how small the cars were back then. It had a a bunch of stuff from all the presidents, it was really a walk down memory lane.

LBJ right now has an exhibit of the Preacher and the Presidents. It is about Billy Graham. The permennat ones are the Gifts of State (the goodies the presidents were given). Lady Bird changed Texas and she has a special exhibit since her passing, and her Wildflower place is a dream come true about March/April.

Any of them you visit you will see things that most people can only dream of seeing. It is the stuff you know about but would never see.

Honestly any of them are incredible, no matter what you vote for. It is the real American history artifacts. The GHWB has a replica of the oval office that he had decorated.

I have never been to Lincoln, Nixon or Reagan but I have heard they are fabulous museums.

I always forget Nixon was raised a quaker.

I don’t think it’s realistic to believe that the US Gov’t is going to rid itself of a bureaucracy the size of the IRS. It sounds just about as likely as Texas getting a state tax. -Rod-

Jen I know that over 10% is not popular but I think in the long run it is so much cheaper either way! Texas has no state tax, and never will. Every time they try we vote them out and they know it. We have the lottery and high taxes on cigs and alcohol, they make enough.

I just look at not having a whole institution called IRS, and not paying quarterly self employment taxes, and celebrating April 15th instead of dreading it. To me it is a win win Win for the consumer.

Wow I come in so late, so much stuff to comment on! I think I know how Adam feels, where do I start?

Seems like they said the cows were not walking, but I am unclear why they were not walking. Yet again it goes back to the little guy, we have been quarantined once, it was awful. It was a cow that tested negative at the auction barn, then we they got the plant it popped up as Bangs. Our herd could not be sold or bought for 6 months, it was awful. They came and tested the entire herd and no one else had it. Matter of fact our theory was our cow probably didn’t have Bangs either. If a cow eats one blade of grass with a droplet of rotten meat dropped from a bird it can test positive maybe. Anyway they contacted all the ranchers around us, and everyone had to be tested. I got an angry phone call from a neighbor. Like we wanted to be quarantined for six months.

From what I know which honestly isn’t much but you can tell if a cow is sick. Every cow is tested for several things when they are sold at the auction barn, then the tests are repeated once at a slaughter house. The original seller then has his cattle all tested if there is a problem.

Sounds like the inspector at the meat facility was not doing a good job. Many meat companies have higher than FDA standards for treatment of meat. If you post on my blog I can email you the ones I know about. I am sure if I tried here it would be blocked BTPTB(by the powers that be).

The Ag Dept has offices all over, and hire very good vets and scientists. I feel confident to buy fresh meat at most grocery stores.

That Pakistan election will be crucial to unstabilizing Al-Qaeda in that region. That place is their safe haven and too much time has gone by with Bin Laden being free. We should have had much more assistance from Pakistan in tracking him down. I just don’t beleieve that Pakistan’s officials can’t locate this guy.

Nope, no tattoos, hummers or otherwise. The birds have actually slowed down some with our improved weather. I think they are probably spending more time catching bugs and trying to put on some fat. Many of the birds may also be moving north. The lull won’t last long though. In 3-4 weeks the Blackchins should be showing up in their migration and there will be many dozens more here. Two years in a row there’s been an oddball Blacky that comes in, only he’s almost entirely white in his neck, chest and belly. I can tell him just by his call, without seeing him. And in two years I’ve yet to get a photo of him. He’s just too shy. -Rod-

k2, yeah I hope that ICE will be able to get inside information now of other illegal documents rings. Good question about did they also receive benfits. Just the thought of knowing that they were handling our food and we do not know if they were sick. I’ll be curious to know if the health department did periodic checks or if they dropped the ball like many times the child protection agency does, citing low funding as a reason as to why they didn’t do inspections.
