FOXNews.com On The Scene

GOT IT!

We’ve all been talking about this for nearly a week and all it took was one shot…surely opening some eyes in Beijing, Tehran and Moscow. I have to tell you, they were 4 minutes ahead of the launch time discuss late in the afternoon. The important fact….the USS Lake Erie, captain, crew and contractors, nailed the satellite on the first try. Now we wait to hear if they destroyed the toxic fuel tank. Here’s the official word and my favorite picture of the USS Lake Erie.

                      dsc_0397.jpg

DoD Succeeds In Intercepting Non-Functioning Satellite
A network of land-, air-, sea- and spaced-based sensors confirms that the U.S. military intercepted a non-functioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite which was in its final orbits before entering the earth’s atmosphere.

At approximately 10:26 p.m. EST today, a U.S. Navy AEGIS warship, the USS Lake Erie (CG-70), fired a single modified tactical Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) hitting the satellite approximately 247 kilometers (133 nautical miles) over the Pacific Ocean as it traveled in space at more than 17,000 mph. USS Decatur (DDG-73) and USS Russell (DDG-59) were also part of the task force.

The objective was to rupture the fuel tank to dissipate the approximately 1,000 pounds (453 kg) of hydrazine, a hazardous fuel which could pose a danger to people on earth, before it entered into earth’s atmosphere. Confirmation that the fuel tank has been fragmented should be available within 24 hours.

Due to the relatively low altitude of the satellite at the time of the engagement, debris will begin to re-enter the earth’s
atmosphere immediately. Nearly all of the debris will burn up on reentry within 24-48 hours and the remaining debris should re-enter within 40 days.

Yippee!!! Our military is just plain cool. I would have loved to have been on that ship when the hit was made. Imagine the high-fives….

God bless the US Military – the best in the world! Congrats to them all – I’m comforted knowing they are protecting this great land! (Hope we get to see some video!)

And what about that awesome lunar eclipse?! “The heavens declare His glory…”

Comment by Jennifer in ATL

Hey Buckeye….

I didn’t get to see the eclipse…I was at church, but I did get to see some pictures. I wish I could have seen live, though. I bet it was amazing.

Comment by Kathy in Texas

Wonderful Adam I can hardly wait to see it.

Comment by KT

Excellent report Adam!! Good job! This was better than what we got on TV!!

I can’t believe that with all of the factors involved, heat, fuel tank, altotude, we got it all in one shot. What a day to be proud of our military!

Wow… 40 days for any renaing debris to re-enter. This was just an exciting day.

Comment by KT

Buck / Jenn… I didn’t ge to see the eclipse either, way too cloudy… now we have to wait until I think they said 2010.

Comment by KT

Wooohooo… Adam was able to get a leak 4 minutes ahead of time!!! His black book needs to be classified as top secret.

That must have been exciting for you to get that info so quickly right before it happened Adam!

Comment by Kathy in Texas

I am hoping my son can see a video tomorrow.

Jennifer ~ last summer I took the kids to a local astronomy event out in the hay field. The club had various large telescopes set up. We saw the moons of Jupiter, a star that exploded billions of years ago, the craters of Venus… There are billions of “stars” in the night sky. You look at one tiny spot in the night sky through a telescope and that billion explodes exponetially. We only see such a very minute of what is actually out in space – absolutely blew my mind. I was so in awe of God’s creation, I couldn’t shut up about it! I kept saying: “How can you witness this and think this all came from a big bang? It is so beautifully perfect in every way.

I could go on and on. Check your area for astronomy club events open to the public. It is so worth the time.

Have a good night, all.

btw people,

remember the texas oil thingy that blow up last week…. its owned by Alon USA ( an Israeli company)

Adam,

I notice you said you’d been told a time but didn’t think it was safe to publish it. When it comes to military matters, if you have a secret you can’t reveal, it’s probably best that you don’t mention that you know anything at all. It’s just basic operational security. It’s not just the details of an operation that may be the secret but the mere fact that there is an operation. Loose lips sink ships and all that. Just for future reference ;) -Rod-

Avi,

Now that’s interesting. Hezbollah making good, you think? -Rod-

I assume that when the sun comes up tomorrow the observatory in Hawaii, or maybe even an east coast telescope, will take a look at the sky with a spectrometer and ’sniff’ the light looking for the Hydrazine. Since the cloud will follow the same orbit that the satellite did, if the fuel cell punctured they should be able to find the cloud of gas fairly quickly. The gas will show up as changes in the spectra of the light hitting the atmosphere. Just an educated guess, anyway. -Rod-

Comment by Tiamat

I’m not worried about falling satellite debris (cough*sputnik*cough) …

I’m more concerned about the DreamLifter or 787 (if it ever flies) crashing into my neighborhood … since I live under the bloomin’ things’ flight path … incoming and outgoing …

Oh yeah … DreamLifter is a DreamHijacker as that sucker is large and loud … and flies low …

I guess I should’ve looked up the home port of the USS Lake Erie to figure out “where” she might’ve been … LOL ;-)

Comment by Tiamat

Hey Adam –

Would you find out what this story is all about?? All I could find on the local tv / newspaper sites was just the raw video on the one network …

“3 Fighter Jets Accompany Large Plane Near Sea-Tac”
http://www.kirotv.com/video/15348135/index.html

Unless Springer’s hunting down the story … ;-)

It’s definitely NOT the 787 … Nor is it the DreamLifter …

Comment by John

Good shooting……..I guess. Now if we can only convince our enemies to give us at least 2 week notice of an impending missile attack so we can get into possition to shoot……….and make a rule that they can’t attack on stormy nights, then we should be alright. I think what will best help out our Patriot Defense System is to have the New England Patriot’s coaching staff provide us with a video of our enemy’s intentions and capabilities……..General Belichick, where are you?

Just kidding guys, truely good shot…….I hope you destroyed what you wanted to destroy………….but please don’t tell us it was the dreaded hydrazine…..ain’t buying that one.

Comment by Kathy in Texas

Well my son saw the tape this morning. It looked fabulous! I am thrilled that our Navy did a spectacular job.

Adam Thanks for protecting our guys out there!

Comment by Kathy in Texas

I am working a big job today, y’all have fun. I will be home very late.

Comment by John

Tiamat……..I wouldn’t be too concerned about the 787 story. First off, this story is not “news”……it was first reported in late December 2007 by several news outlets. I don’t know why Fox finally decided to report on it…….slow news day, maybe. Secondly, Airbus’ have been flying with similar systems for about 20 years and no one has hacked into one of their computer systems.
I put this in the same “cry wolf” catagory as the rumors that were going around the aviation industry after 9/11 that the terrorists had figured out a way to hack into our air traffic control system and would be able to control our aircraft’s movements from the ground. That was finally put to rest when we were able to convince those that believed this that pilots only respond to verbal commands from ATC………ATC does not use “text messaging” to communucate with pilots…………not yet, anayway.

question…..
in the picture above….what is that ‘hole” in the side of the ship?
right below where they are standing.

Comment by John

Patty……..I’m not familiar with navy ships, but it looks like either an exhaust port, or maybe a smoke screen port…..if that’s the stern of the ship.

Comment by Dave

The hole is an opening to put out a long cable with sensors to listen for submarines. It is affectionately called a “tail”.

Comment by Derek

Dave…listening for submarines???

no no no my friend, that is an alien sensor hole, it deploys reese’s pieces, because we all know that is their weekness

Comment by John

Dave……..thanks……it also looks very similar to the end of the refueling line for air to air refueling……..I won’t mention what name we affectionately call that, but it’s it isn’t far off from “tail”…lol

Don’t hold your breath. The leftwing media loves Obama and will not willingly ask tough questions on past business dealings or his socialist agenda.

Rod

We both believe in strong OPSEC but remember that a part of our strategy is to prevent a war and a great way to do that is to show and convince any potential enemy that a war with us would be far to costly in blood and fortune. The Chinese newspapers even acknowledge that we have the technological advantage in space! Plus I’m 100% sure that we have not shown them our “ace in the hole’ Its also very probable that we let the world know in advance that we where going to fire a ballistic missle to prevent an over reaction on their part. In-the-same-stream-of-thought, it gives us the moral upper hand, we notified everybody that we where going to do this, while China did not warn anybody when they did the same thing last year. Man I love international politics 101.

Jennifer & Buckeye Fan – isn’t it interesting all of the things that are happening?? When you look at things in a Biblical perspective the reality of where we are at is pretty overwhelming.

I am constantly amazed. These days, I look at everything from a Biblical perspective. But as Matthew says…

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,[a]‘ and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

Susan…yes we had an earthquake. We didn’t feel it in Southern Nevada, only some vibrations that were hardly felt anyway. It was originally noted to be 6.3 but was later changed to be 6.0..it hit at 6:16am. There supposed to be a lot of structural damage to old buildings and monuments but the roads and bridges seem to be okay.

Comment by KT

That’s what concerns me about them moving the nuclear waste to Nevada at Yucca Mountain. The last I heard the nuclear waste site was supposed to be built either on a fault line or near a fault line, can’t remember which. Couldn’t they pick a place that was less susceptible to earthquakes to put the nuclear waste? Even transporting the nuclear waste across the states to get it here is absolutely dangerous and hazardous.

DEVELOPING STORY …

A handful of protesters stormed the U.S. embassy in Belgrade, Serbia, on Thursday and started a fire in protest over Kosovo’s declaration of independence earlier this week, according to wire reports.

Crowds outside cheered and chanted, egging the demonstrators on as they broke into the building, Reuters reported.

The embassy was closed at the time, and there were no police guarding it.

Indian Chief ‘Two Eagles’ was asked by a white government official, ‘You have observed the white man for 90 years. You’ve seen his wars and his technological advances. You’ve seen his progress, and the damage he’s done.’

The Chief nodded in agreement.
The official continued, ‘Considering all these events, in your opinion,? Where did the white man go wrong?’

The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied. ‘When white man come to this land, Indians running it: no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man is free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex.’

Then the chief leaned back and smiled. ‘Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that

The first a navy man walks from the urinal to the sink and washes his hands, “In the navy” he says “they teach us to be civilized and clean”

The next, a marine, walks from the urinal and washes his hands in scalding water and does it twice, turning to the sailor he says, “in the marines, we do everything twice as good as the navy”

Third the army guy leaves the urinal and walks to the door, before leaving the latrine, he says to the sailor and marine “in the army, they teach us not to pee on our hands”

On a serious note about the patriotism of our Native Americans….they are as patriotic as anyone in America.

A native son in North Dakota was killed in Iraq, the funeral service on his home reservation lasted the whole day. Native Veterans travelled from afar to pay their respects. It was amazing.

I have nothing but profound respect for our native americans, I have served with them in many different units and they have always proven themselves as fearless warriors.

At least in combat arms that is.

Creamer IS a beauty, no doubt about it…

There’s more to it than that…there’s been clear references to “Bodies” on the scanner.

Well that was nice. Michelson just gave his golf ball to some little kid. You never see Tiger do that… -Rod-

Comment by Jennifer in ATL

Good for Lefty. I do like him. He’s just not as exciting as Tiger.

Ok…I’m off to take the kids to karate. Check ya later……folks

The most exciting thing about Tiger is the way he bends a club slamming it on the ground. I saw him trash a 5 foot length of putting green with his putter face too. He’s rude and a poor sport. See ya later. -Rod-

I finally got a little info off the scanner. There were 4 suspects. One is dead, killed by an officer. The dead guy had an AK and a Glock. A second suspect is in the hospital. A third is on the run and is armed. The driver of ‘the car’ is on the run. The cops are saying something about 2 or 3 more bodies, so it sounds like there was a driveby. The only way to glean the info is to listen in on the TAC channels. -Rod-

Can’t we round up the gang bangers and put them on their own little piece of land like Antarctica for instance. They can section off their turfs and have all the drive bys they want, all the ridiculous hand signs they can conjure and we can even put up some fake convenience stores that they can try to rob. 8O

OMG- are you serious about the tennis shoes hanging on the cable wires???????
I walk Izabella Marie (my dog) every day, and on the next block there are tennis shoes hanging on the wires. Dummy me, I just thought kids were fooling around and got lucky and couldn’t figure out how to get them down.

Tammy – loved the pregnant tiger comment. I am still laughing out loud and trying to type. Sooo funny!!! Hope you and Repeat are having a good day

Rod – How have you been and how are the birds in this nasty and wet weather

KC – My stupid showed

Well off to the homestead calling it an early night tonight…………….that is such a dumb thing to say………please……….I’m a woman! Once I get home I’ll have to cook supper, fold the laundry and help the kids with homework….calling it early……..HA!

Heya KC,

Doing better. Long story made short here…I’m on a new med, my BP is DOWN and I’m feeling pretty good after 3 days on it. No migraines even.

The birds are slow. I’m thinking most have migrated north so now I’m waiting for the travelers to arrive from S and C. America. So far today I’ve not even gone through 2 cups of sugar water. That’s down from about 8. The Goldfinches are hungry though. I notice that when the weather is bad, they are more willing to tolerate me walking close to them. I think they are more willing to risk themselves in return for that fattening seed than when the weather is good.

How’re you doing? -Rod-

Tammy,

Hell ya I watch golf. I just finished watching the PGA matchups and now LPGA is on. Many of the world’s best pro athletes from other sports are golfers, just not professionally. Rock stars too. -Rod-

Minneapolis is a sanctuary city. In 2003, the city voted to bar police from asking about immigration status or enforcing immigration laws. The mayor, R.T. Rybak, even asked federal agents to stop wearing vests labeled “police.” St. Paul and Worthington are also sanctuary cities.

How expensive was it to be politically fashionable??

Comment by Terri ~ Las Vegas

Yes, in LV the police are not allowed to ask either…

LV is an “unofficial” sanctuary city..

And L.A. of course. The chief of police figures that if we held the illegals to account, they’d not be willing to snitch on criminals in their neighborhoods…who are also illegals

If we get rid of them, it becomes a moot point, eh?

Comment by Jennifer in ATL

I don’t know if Atlanta is a sanctuary city. But the whole thing is just sad. These precious children are gone now. And three sets of parents are left wondering why.

Sad.

Tammy

It wasn’t stupid – it was priceless!!!! Even tho golf is a popular sport, I cannot see the point of chasing a little ball around on the grass for hours and hours. Jennifer and Rod, it is OK, just my opinion only.

And you are right, going home from work just leads to your second job. Trust me, I know, did it for years and years and I have paid my dues. Now I just sit back and crack up at my kids and grandkids complaining that there is just not enough hours in the day. They go to work, they come home, take care of the kids, cook, clean, do laundry, etc etc. You know the drill. It is fun to hear them saying the same thing that I did while raising them. But it was fun and well worth it.

Have a great evening and get some rest so you can start all over again tomorrow

I hear ya, Tammy~ We’re out of school this week for Winter Break, so I’ve been able to relax more than normal. Tonight, though, for dinner….we raided the fridge and everyone had leftovers. As much as I wanted to drive-thru somewhere or order pizza, I restrained myself and decided to clean out the fridge.

It’s amazing all of the wonderful meals I’ve served the last two weeks. All of us had something different.

It’s tough being a gal, huh. But, to be honest, I’d rather be a woman than a man. Any day of the week.

Glad your new med has kicked in and is helping you and really glad to hear no more migraines. Let’s hope and pray that continues. I suffered from Migraines for 5 years, one every three to five days, 14 to 18 hours long each time. I do not wish that pain on anyone.

Happy to hear you still have birds. I haven’t seen our hummers for weeks now. I thought for sure they would appear the last week or so as we really had sunny days but they didn’t. I don’t know what to do with their feeders tho – there is syrup in there now, but do I wait until I see them to put fresh in or what. Need your suggestions please

By the way, I won $1.00 on the lottery the other night – how did you do????

Got my taxes done this afternoon so that project is done. I love it when they have to send me a check!!!!! Oh, also found out from my CPA that the money we get this year for that program to put back into the economy-ha ha ha – you have to claim it as income on your tax return next year (2008). Isn’t that sweet – So as usual, my quarterly estimated taxes that I have to pay this year for next year will go up some. Oh well, it is only money, I guess

Other than that all is well in Fresno -
Let me know your advice on my feeders
Be safe and take care

Those are great. I love the “Ted Kennedy drives me to daycare” baby T. Very funny.

KC,

I won a buck too. Some schuck stole 80 mil from me

Ummm. Clean your feeders up and put fresh syrup in. Use a dilute bleach solution, about 5% bleach to water. Let it sit in both parts for 15 minutes and rinse VERY well. Dump and replace the syrup after 3 days if it’s not used up. I think the birds are on the move but the new kids should be showing up in a week or two. Let me know if you have any questions!

I sent my return out a week ago. I haven’t had to file since I was divorced but it was the only way to get the ‘rebate’. -Rod-

Terri – thanks for the link……

The fact the van driver is an illegal alien was not in my morning paper – St. Paul! I would like the parents of the children to sue the state. Had the state removed (sent home to her native country) this driver in 2006 when she was cited for driving without a license – then maybe those four children would be alive and the 15 others would not have been injured.

Makes me sick.

February 21, 2008 (WLS) — There is a new development in the case of missing Bolingbrook mother Stacey Peterson. Authorities from Will County have ruled the 2004 death of Kathleen Savio, the third wife of Drew Peterson, a homicide after a second autopsy.

A forensic pathologist concludes that the cause of her death was drowning — and the manner of death was homicide.

Savio was found dead in a bathtub in March, 2004.

I just found your question to me. I apologize for ignoring you. It wasn’t intentional.

I got most of the shoe polish stain out…but not all. Every time I stuck the hose of the shop-vac onto the spot I thought I’d cleaned, it would turn black. All of the polish had gone to the bottom of the carpet and the shop-vac kept bringing it to the surface.

It was a huge task…and there is more to do.

Michael Moore is a pinhead and borders on treason…Adam do you have any idea on why Moore was not prosecuted for traveling to Cuba? He told Bill O that he (moore) wanted the taxes on the rich to go up to 70% That shows me just how stupid he is-he’s rich and he wants to be taxed 70%? The utter hyprocasy (sp?) of the luntic left amazes me, don’t they realise that if they want their marginal tax rate at70% there is NO LAW preventing them from giving that extra money to the Infernal Revenue Service. Better yet why not just cut me a check for that 70%

Whats say we find Michael Moore’s private email address hack into it and post pictures of President Reagen and President Nixon on every page, then we buy him a lifetime membership to the NRA and donate some $$ to the Heritage Foundation, again in his name and finally get him subscribed to the Limbaugh Letter…it would be a good laugh and since he is grossly out of shape his bllod pressure might spike and…

Rod, I say let the teachers carry weapons… they have to be trained and certified b/f they carry.. so I don’t know what the big deal is..

I swear, if some of these bad guys start getting shot and killed… there would be less of them shooting and killing…

I hate/dispise VIOLENT video games, it’s like a vaccine against violence for our kids…
parents should not allow their kids to play these horrible games…

My husband took a class on the dangers of violent video games…
he’s not for banning them or anything like that… but he does feel they are terrible for our society.

Terri,

I can’t begin to tell you how much this crap with the illegals bothers me. We should just declare war on Mexico…or if the US and Americans don’t have the courage to protect our own country, just bow to the inevitable and surrender now… -Rod-

Adam…back to the Lake Erie….the guy that pulled the trigger is from Raytowm MO, about 2 1/2 hrs from here! Small world!! ;-)

Terri,

Right on all counts. I don’t see how anyone could honestly claim that video games do not have a negative effect on society. Kids grow up doing what they see around them. For me and my brother, it was playing cowboys and indians, and army games. All the kids in the neighborhood did. So what kinds of things are kids doing when they grow up beating and slashing and killing characters on the screen themselves? Trouble is, there’s no way to get the sh*t back into the horse. Maybe what’s needed is for parents of the dead to do what liberals usually do. Sue. Start going after the game manufacturers and the programmers when their kid gets killed by a gamer. Force them to make changes.

Every person in America should be allowed to carry a gun. But if ya commit an overt crime with one…bye bye. Forever. No parole, no second strike. Bye bye. Force change in that way too. -Rod-

The Reconquista is real, Terri…I’m convinced of it.

People like Ruben Navarette and other immigration activists and “Journalists” expend a lot of energy ensuring that anyone holding that view is considered an idiot. That fact alone should tell people something. -Rod-

Comment by KT

The sanctuary cities are hiding behind the excuse that they do not have the money to seek out, capture, arrest, house and deport illegals (as one of their excuses). So the geniuses who came up with that propaganda now have illegals residing in their cities draining their economies. The very reason that they do not capture is the very reason that their cities are in economic distress.

Vegas is not listed as a sactuary city, but actually it is and should be on the list.

KT, I know … I am always griping to Mike…
he said it is in their policy that they are not allowed to ask immigration status.

so I of course wrote to a Congressmen’s helper that had spent years on Metro …
he said that it’s “unofficial” ~

WHATEVER THAT MEANS…
sanctuary is sanctuary.

They are taking jobs away that Americans would do…
like roofing! KT , remember those winds last week? Ripped my sisters roof and tar paper off..
some illegal came by and offered to to it for $3800…

no license and could hardly speak English.

One day it may be the citizens that decide to solve the problem of illegals since the gov’t is afraid to. Every one of the remaining Presidential candidates is selling us out for the ‘Hispanic vote’, making the Reconquista a certainty. -Rod-

Comment by Karen2 (K2)

Adam posted an Idol thread.

I think Adam should start a thread on illegals, close it for posting to all but a dozen of us, and we’ll sit around, talk the problem through, and find our own detailed solution to the problem. When we’re done, Adam can open it up to the world… -Rod-

Comment by KT

I understand that the officers get their directions from higher up. But I wonder, where is the memo that says this (even though it’s unofficial), where is the law, what are the reprecussions for asking alien status.

How can police and judges protect us if the police cannot get proper identification. Especially when they’re being released back into society after being charged.

Comment by KT

How can they conduct business, like roofing without a license to conduct such business? Can you imagine the loss from damages if they messed up and were illegal?

In Los Angeles there’s a name for it, KT: Directive 40 or something like that. It’s an order by the LAPD brass not to ask about immigration status. -Rod-

JenS – Pungent is good … It means that you’re one with the puns … Umm, you’re good at making puns (sometimes without even trying) … We laugh because you’re pungent as in punny & funny (as opposed to pungent like ya got hit by skunk juice) …

Terri / JenHotlanta – New cast of DwtS has already been announced … Sadly, I’ve had actual interaction with one and am quite surprised that he is doing the show (I guess Mickey Mouse must’ve greased his slimey, grubby mitts quite a bit) …

JenHotlanta – Picks yet?? Ewe got less than 6 hours til the cut-off … Though, they might need pontoons tomorrow … ;-)

John – The computer being hackable on the 787 is not what concerns me … Nor is the pilots falling asleep … I live near Paine Field & the assembly plant … I live under the flight path (for outgoing & incoming flights) … It’s the suppliers, quality control, etc that worry me about the 787 and DreamLifter (It’s the plane that they’re using to bring the 787 fuselage into Paine Field) … I think one of the union contracts is up for negotiations soon … Plus, I’ve got insiders at the plant …

There’s been an increase in air traffic in the area the past month … and it’s not the standard stuff that goes into Boeing Field or Sea-Tac (I hate that place) … Lots of military activity … Mebbe I should go down the street to see if there’s any activity at FEMA … ;-)

Is it an coincidence that traffic at the local shooting range dramatically increased on Super Tuesday … as well as this past Tuesday … especially when a LOT of the patrons are laaw enforcement (local/state/fed) and military ?? Hmmmm … It’s an indoor/outdoor range in a canyon & the sound reverberates up … Oddly enough, on 9-11-01, there was a major increase in traffic and I was comforted by hearing the “pop” sounds …

Here we go, KT. Special Order 40:

“That no officer of the Los Angeles Police Department shall cooperate with the Immigration and Naturalization Service to: inquire into the immigration status of an individual, EXCEPT AND Unless (underlined in the text) required by city, county, state or federal law to inquire into the immigration status of an individual seeking LAPD employment.”

LA’s ‘new’ mayor is a guy named Antonio Villaraigosa (Actually just Villa..he added his wife’s “Raigosa” to make it sound better) has met with both Vicente Fox and El Presidente Calderon in private numerous times. There’s no public record of the conversations, only that the subject is “cooperation” in the areas of trade and immigration. It’s enough to make people paranoid. -Rod-

This is my first time blogging here, and I AM amused by many of these comments.

Given the omission of the names here which I personally won’t comment on, I get the feeling some of you just like being angry. As this is just your way of expressing yourself.

Are you a pro-active person? If these illegal issues bother you so much, are you writing letters or are you just blogging?

What are you doing to make these changes you so much discuss? Or is this your way of showing you are a genius but at a blog level?

I can also post links and cry, but I would rather be much more active with my government by signing petitions where my voice will be heard.

The best way for the outlet is the inlet.

Thank you

Observer,

If you’re just an observer then how is it you claim to be so active?

The next amnesty, by whatever name they choose to call it, is a fait accomplii. There’s nothing you, me or anyone else here can do to stop it.

Liberalism has eaten at America like a cancer, making her unwilling to even try to defend herself against the invading hordes…yes, I’d call all those millions a horde and an invasion. Sadly, we’re too afraid of offending the invaders, far too afraid of offending their legal, voting cousins, and too afraid of the economic impacts to do anything to stop it, much less reverse it.

It’s a sad sign of the times that the obvious solution is considered to be “impractical” by all but the most ‘extreme’ of conservatives.

We are a people that at once rid the world of Japanese imperialism and Nazi atrocities because the fate of the world hung in the balance, yet we do not have the will to save ourselves from invaders easily swept up. I believe those words are undeniable by any reasonable mind.

You may think you’re cute, anonymously poking fun at us…I just consider the source. -Rod-

KT,

You read it right, and Tiamat knows it as well. The local government and bureaucracy is every bit as corrupt as Chicago’s machine. There’s too many vested and powerful interests to accomplish anything here. Tiamat, I wonder what will happen to LAUSD when a recession hits and all of a sudden all those indian gaming dollars supporting the schools dry up? Prop 13 homeowners may have to pony up, ya think? -Rod-

Your fait accompli is translated into a done deal. Therefore, the defeat is here, as you have so much stated.

Your glass is half empty while mine is half full. I will not let me fears get the better of me as you seem to have yours.

Please do not insult me with thinking I am cute. I was expressing myself as you have too.

I live in an imperfect government but this is the one I have and I, by continually feeling negative about it is not going to help me make it through.

Thank you

Just for future reference -Rod-

I think Adam Housley might have known this, as for your future reference.

Done deal indeed, but it’s not fear. I simply took my rose-colored glasses off and saw the system for what it is. I have no illusions about what the problem is, who the problem is…or what the solution is. Would you care to take some guesses?

You’re unjustifiably optimistic. That’s far more dangerous than my so-called negativity. Maybe you can tell us all what the source of that optimism is. Tell us what you see in the system that will propel it to not only stop the flood of illegals coming in but rid ourselves of those already here as well. Don’t disappoint me by spouting idealistic nonsense.

Maybe you’d like to wager on the outcome? I’m betting that there is nothing we can do to stop an amnesty…I define amnesty as any legislation or gov’t action that allows the illegals to stay here. Name the stakes and I’ll agree to them if you clearly state your name and contrary position.

I’m off to bed. -Rod-

It’s technology great! What our Navy did yesterday was literally harder that shooting one bullet out of the air with another. What’s more amazing is that we’re all so ho-hum about it. After all the buildup in the press the fact that we’re able to destroy a satellite travelling at 17,000 MPH with a missle shot that it was barely mentioned in the news. Wonder what the media response would have been if they’d missed? How many talking heads would have been on the news channels calling for the end to this wasteful project?

What people forget or don’t even realize is that the US has had this capability for about 20 years. In mid to late 80’s of the USAF tested a weapon to shoot down satellites. The missle carried aloft and fired from an F-15 Eagle at maximum altitude.

Observer, I have a blog dedicated to making people aware of congress is doing. I follow politics very closely and discuss the issues. I do write to my Sentaors, I do call them and I do voice my concerns. Just because you see us in here complaing or discussing the issues doesn’t meant that we didn’t take 5 minutes out of our life to actively do something about it. Many of us who blog on this site are proactive on the issues. Your opinion of us may be formed based on other blogs you have visited, that is not the case here. This is what a person wrote on MM website:

First of all….nothing is going to change. The people you think are in control of the ship are not, in fact, in control of anything but their political careers, and barely at that. Let’s take a look at the situation:
1) TTC – or the “Trans-Texas Corridor”, is going to be built. There is nothing any of us can do about it despite how mad we get or how many letters, emails or face to face chats with Gov. Rick Perry we have….it WILL BE BUILT.

2) Anyone who thinks that there are no plans for a North American Union is seriously un-informed.

3) The tragic ending of American lives, as in this case, means NOTHING to these people and is just another headline they will have to duck until the smoke blows over.

4) Our so-called “elected officials” are ALL BOUGHT and PAID FOR on this issue of amnesty.

Sure…some talk tough about getting the borders secure and blah, blah, blah, but if you listen to McCain on the subject he talks about how he would have every border state governor certify that their border was secured!? W.T.Hell?

Rick Perry would give that pledge today if THEY wanted him to..so how does that help? Look, the simple fact is this…..in the minds of the real powers that be…the USA has to be brought down in order to complete their master plan of a North American Union.

That is THE ONLY WAY to get Americans to go along with giving up their sovereignty. To break us all down and “re-build”. One of the ways to break us down is to bring down our economy, jobs, standard of living and other key economic targets. I mean….hell….they are selling our infrastructure to foreign governments right now….as we speak.

And once they have sold out a significant amount of our highways and roads (for new toll roads on existing roads already paid for by the taxpayer!!) it’s all down hill from there for the America we all love and wish to keep.

Now…knowing the union is coming, they have no desire to secure the southern border. Why would they want to do that? Why would they want to keep the new citizens of the NAU out of the northern region? They don’t….and they won’t…simple as that.

Think about it folks….what we are up against is not necessarily our elected officials, but a MULTI-TRILLION dollar plan by people who control the worlds money, to make us all..not citizens…but consumers and workers…period.

I know this sounds nuts, but the only way we are going to save this country in the next 10 years is if we convince the four-star guys in charge of the guns and planes and tanks to help us investigate and arrest and prosecute ALL of the politicians involved in this treasonous activity and restore our government for the people…back to the people.

I say this because our media is one of the biggest criminals in this game and will not inform the citizens on anything having to do with the planned downfall of America.

They would rather you watch “Dancing with the stars” and be clueless then to rock the boat with facts that could end the game. Yes this bus accident is a tragic story…but what I think even more tragic is the fact that not a thing will be done about it. Lip service and that.is.all.

Interesting that Dancing with the Stars was brought up at the end. Last night it was American Idol. People chose.

Rod, I watch Idol and im not uneducated…why do the 2 have to go together?
As Jen posted before, I enjoy watching the kids with a dream. Thats what life is all about…a dream and without dreamers, for sure, nothing will ever change.

There is only so much one can do. All the pissing and moaning wont make much of a change. We didnt write the laws. WE voted the people in that do. Although, most don’t bother to know who or what they are voting for. Until people learn about who they are voting for, and what they stand for, nothing will change, sadly.

I’m sick of watching negative news channels, if all we keep in front of our eyes is the negative, then that is how we live..negative. I personally refuse to live that way. I refuse to make those around me miserable because all i’ve seen is misery…therefore…i try to find the positive and spread it around a bit.

But then again, that is just my opinion.

K2,

Do you not see the irony in backing a law that prevents illegals from getting drivers licenses? What better law might the Senate write in relation to illegals?

Patty, go back to your soaps. So sorry to disturb you. -Rod-

He’s going to raise taxes through the roof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heya KT, how goes it today?

My point to K2 is that we’d be better served in dealing with the illegals presence here rather than their ability to legally drive or not. Saying, “Sorry, illegals can’t have a driver’s license” seems to imply that their presence will otherwise be tolerated.

But, if the Senate wants to tell the States which services they can’t provide to illegals, why not concentrate on those things that attract them here? I doubt if illegals travel here so they can get a drivers license. Tell the States they can’t give them medical care for instance. That’s a biggy. Welfare. Food stamps. A free pass from local police departments. This bit about driver’s licences just seems to be the wrong way to fight the illegals. -Rod-

Comment by Karen2 (K2)

Rod – Some states are starting to enact laws to make it more difficult for illegals to obtain employment. The Senate bill is also a first step. We cannot expect it all to change overnight. Every little step we, as a country or a state, take toward the positive of making it more difficult to live here as an illegal is a plus.

Less people will come, if it employment and access to services is not easily obtained.

With all the talk of ‘it can’t be done’ when referring to sending the 12 million illegals home, we need to begin with the options which are more attainable.

By stopping this one first step – no legally recognized form of residency – perhaps employers will not employ them. No employment. No reason to come here.

It’s possible that with some luck you’ll get to see some debris fall. Some pieces of it are probably falling all the time. Just note the direction from your locale that a pass will occur, the window of time and the direction the debris field is traveling. In relation to what k2 said, people will argue that we need a tracking system and dl’s would be the best form. I disagree with that. It’s the ones that do not want to be tracked which will cause us the most damage, the criminals. Perhaps a fingerprinting system would be better suited as a tracking system.

Observer, Obama has been emulating FDR in his campaign. FDR began the socialist era. FDR took our original bill of rights and turned it around. He told people that we have a God given right to have government take our fears away. The fear of unemployment, the fear of growing old w/o money, the fear of not having medical coverage. These programs are not a right for Americans to have. He took the fundamental ideas of our forefathers and in a sense rewrote our bill of rights. He took money out of the paychecks of the very people that had these fears. FDR didn’t believe in free enterprise, he jailed a guy who owned a cleaners for charging a dime (or a nickle) less than the competition in order to draw in more customers. Free enterprise was not permitted.

Obama emulates everything that FDR stood for. You can click on my name, click on items of interest then scroll down to Obama. There is a link with Obama’s Blue Print for America. It’s 64 pages. Everything in that plan will be attacked by McCain. Americans will clearly see that they can’t afford to have Obama in office. Don’t be tricked into the propaganda about Obama ending the war. The war is already ending. If he pulls out troops, he will be adding troops in Afganistan.

In a sense, FDR presided over the dismantling of the family unit. It used to be that people relied on their families when they became disabled or when they retired, and that was all perfectly natural because it’s how they were taught to do things. Multiple generations of families lived under the same roof. FDR took that away when he showed them that instead of their families, they could rely on the government. Families shirking their responsibility has become a way of life. -Rod-

HAGATNA, Guam — The Air Force says a B-2 stealth bomber crashed on Guam, but the pilots ejected safely.

The Air Force says medical authorities evaluated the pilots and both are in good condition.

Emergency responders are on the scene at Andersen Air Force Base . A board of officers will investigate the accident.

Each B-2 bomber costs about $1.2 billion to build.

All 21 stealth bombers are based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri but the Air Force has been rotating several of them through Guam since 2004, along with B-1 and B-52 bombers.

The rotations are designed to boost the U.S. security presence in the Asia-Pacific region while other U.S. forces diverted to fight in the Middle East.

OMAHA, Neb. — Police say a 4-year-old girl demonstrated to them how to smoke marijuana from a joint, a pipe and a bong — and learned the techniques from her mother.

The mother, 25-year-old Lisa Schuchard, is charged with child abuse and could lose her daughter after being accused of teaching and encouraging the girl to smoke.

Her attorney, Douglas County Assistant Public Defender Doug Johnson, said he would not comment because he hadn’t talked to Schuchard in depth.

Authorities say Child Protective Services received a complaint that the 4-year-old and a 2-year-old son of Schuchard were dirty and living in a filthy home that had drug paraphernalia around.

Police say the daughter told officers that Schuchard and her live-in boyfriend would offer her and her brother the marijuana, then laugh with friends when they smoked. Authorities say the children have been placed in foster care.

from your link Rod

The Congress has primary responsibility for the creation, passage, and promulgation of laws (and, of course, raising and apportioning revenue).

Under our system the president has primary responsibility for the military, the conduct of foreign policy, and the administration of the departments of government:

Basically congress is responsible for everything but the Military, a Democrat in charge of the Military will be good for our country, Republicans in charge of congress would be good for our country, NO war and low taxes what a good combination for our country.

Paula Creamer wins the Fields Open in Hawaii:

Yes, and ? It accurately reflects the Presidential -> Congressional roles in legislation: The President proposes, the Congress disposes. -Rod-

Comment by An Observer

Meaning he can make suggestions to congress but he cannot create bills, so really he cannot do much of anything of real substance except control the troops.
I think you vote for the President that has your Military philosophy and you vote for the congress that has your fiscal and social philosophy.
Which is why a Democrat President and a Republican congress makes sense fiscally, socially and Millitarily.

Not everyone is afraid of terrorists.

You mean like Bill Clinton? How many bombings did he preside over during his presidency and how many times did he swear we’d bring them to justice? How many did he capture? How many did he kill? I can assure you that Obama will repeat Clinton’s mistakes and then some. He’s told us so…he’ll sit down with Syria. He’ll sit down with Iran. He’ll sit down with Cuba…
You’re a child so are thinking like one. I forgive you.

I vote for the President that will do my bidding. In this cycle, not a single one is willing to do so.

Terrorism is not the greatest threat to the US today. While it has the potential to kill many and trash our economy over the short-term in the process, terrorism is unlikely to bring about the demise of the US. So long as we fight the war on their territory, we are relatively safe here at home. If you can’t stomach that, maybe you’d prefer to see the fighting here in our streets? Can you shoot?

Actually though, as a nation, illegal immigration is the greatest danger we face. By drastically altering the national identity and scewing the demographics of the country, which in turn changes who votes and how, our inability or refusal to deal with the illegals puts us in the position of having our nation essentially voted out of existence. Not one of the candidates has claimed a willingness to do what’s necessary. Sure, they’d call out the Guard if 12 million people rushed our southern border…but because it’s all happened in slow motion, the government sleeps. Someone darned well better wake up.

But you go right ahead and talk in platitudes, quibbling over minutae, and pushing forth a limp-wristed candidate that talks about ‘change’ without defining it. But do it quietly, ok? Some of us are trying to think. -Rod-

Observer2… looks like the very thing that you’re accusing is the very thing that you accomplished doing yourself (I, personally feel you may have some personal issues and you take it out on those who don’t think as you do.)

Observer… So let me see if I have this right… you want Obama because you think he won’t bring us to war correct? Did you take into account that he’s planning on increasing the troops in Afganistan? Obama seems to think that if we get OBL then all our problems are solved and there will not be any terrorists to fight, anywhere. This is the same type of idea that if we just keep ourselves safe here on the homeland and not fight terror outside of the US, then we’ll all be ok. Meanwhile, terrorists will infest themselves into more and more countries, become stronger, inherit more weapons and can eventually gain access to nuclear bombs. Then they hit us.

Al-Qaeda is running out of options. They’ve reduced themselves to even lower levels (if you can imagine that) by using unsuspecting mentally challenged women as suicide bombers. Possibly because they’re running out adult males that want to blow themselves up and end their lives. Regarless of what you read about the extremists loving death more then life, it is human instinct to want to live. It is human instinct to be afraid of the pain of bomb exploding that is strapped to their body.

And just for the record, it is Congress who says if we go to war.

Observer,

You didn’t come here to debate. You came in here as a troll, your first act was to jab a stick into the nest, give a stir to see what would happen. Then you spammed us with an Obama site. You still haven’t offered up an original thought.

Too late to play the victim I think. -Rod-

KT,

Excellent point on Obama and the war. He’s just parroting what Pelosi, Kennedy, Murtha and the rest of them have been saying…and it’s a stupid strategy.

We could put the entire US Army into Afghanistan and it wouldn’t bring us OBL, not if he’s in Pakistan. Let’s assume for the sake of this conversation that he is in Pakistan, just to simplify things, though I personally have my doubts.

There’s still that border sitting there and unless we violate Pakistani sovereignty or get an invite from the Pakistan government, OBL will sit in Pakistan, safe as can be.

An invite is basically out of the question. While we may be nominal allies with the Pakistani government (on this one issue anyway) their people hate our guts. And even if they didn’t, let’s just reduce the equation down to a practical question: Would the US under any circumstance short of us being invaded by Russia or China, invite a foreign army onto our own soil to conduct combat operations? Not a chance! What makes us think that Pakistan is any different? Were Musharraf to invite us in, his next act would be hanging from a lightpost, for his own population would seize him and hang him. The country would sink into a civil war overnight as the government battled most of the population. Nor can we simply invite ourselves in. We may well get in on occasion, small teams crossing a few miles in, but there’ll be hell to pay if it ever came out. If we crossed the border in force Musharraf would have no option but to respond with force, just as we would if the Mexicans sent a battalion or a division in here. We have to remember too that Pakistan has nukes. So in any reasonable discussion about US troops in Afghanistan looking for OBL in Pakistan, one has to ask the question: Doing what? The next phase of the discussion has to address the Taliban. The fight with AQ would simply move from Iraq to Afghanistan. Iraq’s government would immediately fall and then foreign fighters would show up in Kabul and Khandahar and everywhere else and we’d be facing the exact same problems we’ve faced in Iraq. What do we gain? Nothing. It’d be worse in fact.

But Murtha, Pelosi, Kennedy, Obama…they don’t want us to think that far ahead, which is why they’ve never bothered to mention it. They simply push the hot button, Iraq Bad, Afghanistan good, thrown in the name Osama Bin Laden and figure that’s all it’ll take to get us to look the other way. Mark my words, if we pull out of Iraq and put the troops in Afghanistan, we’ll be hip deep in blood in no time…just as soon as AQ can move fighters in. Alternately, Obama could implement Murtha’s first plan, also parroted by Pelosi, which was simply to redeploy our troops out of Iraq into Saudi Arabia, close enough so they could go back in “if needed”. Balderdash. Once we’re out, we’re out. Congress would have to reauthorize the war in order to send the troops back in, and they won’t do it. Being in Iraq, they have to keep sending the money…troops are in harms way. That’s a far different thing than sending them back into the meatgrinder from a safe zone. It would never happen, even if the Iraqi government fell.

As usual, the Democrats are counting us being too stupid to figure this out for ourselves. Obama’s an even bigger liar than Clinton is. He just lies by omission.

Myself, I don’t think OBL is in Pakistan any longer, certainly not living in any cave. -Rod-

I’m off to bed, KT. See you tomorrow :) -Rod-

I don’t think Obama is our savior by any means, I do think that he will get elected because he is telling Americans what they want to hear, I also believe that he will pull most of the troops out of Iraq as he has said he would do and I do not think anything bad will happen to the U.S when he does, I think the U.S will be just fine just as it was when Bill Clinton was in office.
It won’t be perfect but we will be in better shape than we currently are spending billions of dollars in a foreign country over oil.

You call the USS Cole ‘just fine’? You call gutting our intelligence services in order to be politically correct ‘just fine’? Why don’t the both of you (which are really just one and the same) go back to observing? Since you can’t analyze the political situation in America, try analyzing the psychology of why you troll instead. -Rod-

Just because someone does not agree with you, that does not make them wrong, have you considered that maybe you are wrong, I understand that you are very upset that more than likely we will have a Democratic President for 8 years but that is no reason to be hostile to others who do not have the same opinion as you.
relax everything will be just fine, look at the bright side with Obama as President you will have someone to complain about for 8 years. ;)
Put your faith in your fellow Americans we will elect the right President and the right congress, it may not be your choice but if it is not you must consider that you could be wrong and the American people are right.

Rod are you an agry white man ?

Obama wants to take the angry white man’s guns away from them, so there will not be anymore of our children killed while going to school, not from terrorists but other children, it’s a long term goal.
Got any children Rod ;)

Things to consider about Iraq -
1. If you believe the war there is solely about oil, then, for you, there is no reason to stay.
2. If you believe the war is based upon the need for a more stable middle east and some hope for a free people, then there is every reason to stay.

To rely upon the “we never should have gone there” as a reason to leave, then the saying ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try try again’ is meaningless.

However, we did go in. Based upon Iraq’s refusal to abide by the 17 UN resolutions. Based upon Saddam’s failure to disclose the location or abandonment of his weapons programs.

We are there, and we owe it to the Iraqi people to help them stand on their own two feet. To immediately leave would result in the likes of Al Sadr and Khomeini moving in and using their firepower to suppress the people.

Iraq is improving. Jordan has assisted in convincing the cleric leaders in the remote areas to work with the US. The people if Iraq are now turning their backs on the Al Q types. The people of Iraq do not approve of the actions of Al Q. The government is making progress.

Iraq is doing what Congress has asked. The Iraq police and military are standing up. The government is moving forward and working with all provinces. The people are turning in terrorists.

If we were to leave now, then we will have no basis in the eyes of the world. Doing the right thing is not always equated to doing the easiest thing.

I am afraid Obama’s words on leaving Iraq are to appease the electorate. Perhaps he believes he can. But, once he sees all the intelligence, I suspect he will have a more softer approach. It is true more troops are needed in Afghanistan.

To say having Obama in office will mean No war is a mistake. The war against Islamofascists will not end just because the USA has a new president.

Comment by Karen2 (K2)

Taking away our guns will not eliminate the actions of sick individuals.

The Islamofascists will not stop killing simply because Obama chooses not to fight them. His ideas about the war make me wonder if we’ll simply have a fox guarding the henhouse. People tend to judge others by their own standards. If Obama is judging the Islamists by his own standard of non-violence, he does everyone a disservice, even the terrorists. They expect to be martyred, so why should we disappoint them? This is a war that’s going to last a generation, maybe two. It’s entirely possible that we’ve been sucked into a war that cannot end, ever. Think of the endless bloodshed between Shiites and Sunnis. They’ve been at each other for 1400 years. Bush has made few errors in this war…one was standing by when the riots started up…his other was in not being tough enough on them. He’s been far too easy on the Islamists, with many getting a pass for political reasons. Al-Sadr? He’s holding a sword over our necks, threatening to unleash his Mahdi Army again if things don’t go his way. He should be killed. Al-Sistani? Killed. The way to win a war is to demoralize the foot soldier. You do that through firepower and by killing off his leadership. Gen. Petreus should be given carte blanche, told to do as he pleases until told to stop.

Rod for President! -Rod-

As many have said, I think that the war in Iraq is almost over, not because we have or ever will accomplish our goal but because the American people and the rest of the world want the war to be over, therefor the real issue for many Americans is not the current war but possible future wars, many believe that a Democrat will not be so quick to go to war in the future.
Many people were quite happy with President Clinton, happier than they are now, the U.S. was spending much less money when he was in office and we were at peace.
I think Americans remembering the peace and tranquility we had during Clinton is the reason that Obama is so popular.
I understand that some will be unhappy with Obama in office but I think there will be millions who will be much happier than they currently are.
I think it is time we focused on the U.S problems for a while, like social security, medicare, unemployment, medical care, the economy etc.
there is always going to be someone unhappy, better to be the minority than the majority, the country is moving closer to the middle and away from the far right or left, unfortunatly for the far right the middle also does not like war. ;)

Rod nobody cares about what a candidates spouse thinks, they should keep their mouthes shut, unfortunatly it seems to be hard to get them to do that.

Ah but they do. Married people tend to think alike, especially highly educated ones. So a look into his wife’s psyche can tell us much about what he’s thinking, and not telling us. Funny that Princeton is suppressing the document until Nov 5, 2008…the day after the election, eh?

with a better than 50% divorce rate in the U.S. I could certainly argue against the idea that married people think alike, from what I have seen it seems to be just the opposite. LOL
I don’t think you can assume that he and his wife think alike.

I think you can assume it. He’s a politician…she appears to have been a professional victim.
And the divorce rate is applicable to couples, not populations. You ignore the other 50% for some reason. I thought you were a glass-is-half-full kinda guy? What’s with all the negative waves?

The best solution to keep things that KT mentioned from happening is to stay forever vigilant ( pay close attention ) to what others are doing here in the U.S., screen passengers at the airport etc.

I did not forget about the other 50% I agree there is a possibility Obama and his wife think alike but there is an equal possibility that they do not think alike.
I just don’t think you can assume that they are alike, they are two separate individuals.
You like the glass half full concept, ok hows this the country will be just fine regardless of who our President ends up being, the real difference being one will keep us fighting wars and the other most likely will not, either way we will be ok. ;)

You’re wrong. Say we stop fighting wars.

Are you saying that OBL and his minions will stand down? Whose lives will you personally guarantee?
We can fight them there, or we can fight them here. Take your choice.

You can fight can’t you? Shoot and kill someone? Stab him if need be? Throttle him with a lampcord? Everyone claims they’ll die for their country, but that’s the easy part. Can you kill for it? That’s what you may face if we allow the fight to come here. Vigilance indeedy! -Rod-

Observer,

It’s difficult to debate you when your comments are basd on suggestion, inuendos, assumptions and baseless propaganda. What you’re giving us is your observations that can’t be backed up by facts.

You commented on the subject of guns and insinuated that children are getting the guns from their parents. Where do you get this crap from? Most gun owners who go through the proper channels of legally purchasing a firearm do take proper precautions. The guns that the children are obtaining come from the streets. It’s the Liberal attitude of do whatever makes you feel good and not worry about the consequences. It is those parents who allow their children to be on the streets exposed to this lifestyle where illegal gun sales are adequately made available to these children. Taking away their gun owner’s Amendment right will not stop these children from killing because the source of the problem is not initiated from the legal gun owner.

Observer2 – Thomas Jefferson did not anticipate radical Islamic extremeists to wage a war on America and its allies. That quote was not meant to be the standard by which we should fight war today.

Observer – You shouldn’t be so quick to speak for the majority of Americans and their belief system on this war or any future war. The mainstream media put that out there and you fell for it. Incapable of making your own sound judgement of relying on what our Generals said verses what the mainstream media said. You seem to think that major newspapers know better than our military and its intelligence. You have chosen to ignore the information that was released by the 9/11 Commission which stated that high risk warnings were coming across Bill Clinton’s desk and he did nothing to stop it. OBL and AQ were both wanted and Clinton’s response was to bomb a pharmacuetical company to help divert attention to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. I can guarantee you the people who were chosen to take these polls and were asked if they support war, are the same people who do not understand the value of the success of this war and they do not follow politics in general, except for hearing a few sound bites each day by the mainstream media.

You say that people don’t care about what the spouses of the candidates say and their opinions, try telling that one to Hillary and the possible future First Lady, Bill.

You seem to think that keeping vigilant on the homeland and not fighting terror abroad will keep us safe. But you failed to consider the fact that if we leave the terrorists alone they will become stronger. They will invade more countries and eventually set off an attack on our homeland that could be far greater than anything you could imagine. That is the same laid back attitude that Clinton had and look where it got us.

Hey Obama…THIS is no answer! Those people at the ball games? THEY are not running for President. Like most liberals I’ve encountered, they deflect when asked direct questions and Obama’s no exception. Here’s a portion of his comments…there’s a link below:

” Asked how he would fight the image of being unpatriotic, Obama said, “There’s always some nonsense going on in general elections. Right? If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. If you recall, first it was my name. Right? That was a problem. And then there was the Muslim e-mail thing and that hasn’t worked out so well, and now it’s the patriotism thing.

“The way I will respond to it is with the truth: that I owe everything I am to this country,” he said. Obama said it was a speech about his love for this country that put him in the national spotlight. He shot down the idea that failing to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem makes him unpatriotic.

“If that were the case, that would disqualify about three-quarters of the people who have ever gone to a football game or baseball game.”"

I especially despise this answer. Typical that he won’t explain his own actions…

About not wearing an American flag lapel pin, Obama said Republicans have no lock on patriotism.

“A party that presided over a war in which our troops did not get the body armor they needed, or were sending troops over who were untrained because of poor planning, or are not fulfilling the veterans’ benefits that these troops need when they come home, or are undermining our Constitution with warrantless wiretaps that are unnecessary?

Rod, the voters don’t have a clue what they’re in for if he gets into office. I would think that it would be a couple of years, maybe 2-4 yrs, before Americans realize that their financial situation not only didn’t get better, but it got worse. That Obama will still be fighting a war in Afganistan, a country that is our allie and doesn’t want us in there blowing things up. That terrorist will be running rampad everywhere but Afhanistan, that Iran will be closer to producing a nuclear bomb, that Russia, Chavez, Iran, Syria, China and other communists terroristic countries will join forces and wreak havoc on Americans. Then they’ll realize that the oceans that once kept us safe from countries that want to do us harm would no longer be an obstacle for the terrorists. Then they’ll realize that because we had to be politcally correct by not enforcing racial profiling by the TSA at our airports, that we’re still vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

Thank you Obama, for making us feel so much safer.

Indeed he did, KT. I wonder how Raul will act? They are claiming there’ll be no changes, but what countries say and what they do are often two different things.

It’d have been nice if the people were given an opportunity to choose. Socialism is such an evil beasty. -Rod-

Comment by KT

Rod, I heard Obama say that during the debate. That’s what they do, it’s propaganda. They took that one incident, made it a major statement and insinuated that it is the staus-quo for what has been happening to all troops. People hear this and they fall for it. It’s sad that people can’t think for themselves and read between the lines. People allow him to put these messages into their brains.

KT,

Really. Who’s Obama to deem warrantless wiretaps to be unneccesary? We’re not talking about the legality of them but the necessity! I think that’s a blunder he’s going to find hard to overcome. Listening in to Islamists, those that sympathize or fund them…that’s always a necessity.

At some point in the future, if/when they get lucky and hit us again, people are going to be asking how we missed it. How will Obama feel if it comes down to the fact that we weren’t listening when we should have been? Will he accept responsibility? Or will he, like he’s done in the rest of the article, simply point fingers at someone else? -Rod-

Comment by KT

It will be too late, maximum damage will already be inflicted on us. Obama seems to think it’s ok to go back to the cumbersome way of obtaining information through wiretaps. The purpose of the FISA law was to lift the restraints so we could quickly get the information needed. You only get one shot at it. There’s no rewind button on the terrorists conversations allowing you time to get a search warrant.

You better hurry before they are all gone. ;)

IF Obama gets elected then I think that alone will make a statement as to how the Majority of Americans feel.
Americans who vote for Obama do not feel unsafe, nor do they think that fighting wars in other countries make us safer,
If McCain gets elected then it would appear that the Majority do fear terrorists and do think that wars on foreign soil make us safer.
there will no doubt be other attacks against the U.S. regardless of war, that is just part of life.
I guess we will find out very soon how the Majority of Americans feel, personally I think Obama will win, McCain is a good guy but I do not think he has the views of the Majority of Americans.

About not wearing an American flag lapel pin, Obama said Republicans have no lock on patriotism.

It’s a simple yes or no question directed to you.

Comment by KT

No Observer, Obama had to make that statement because responsible voters are pointing out that the Obama crazed voters don’t understand politics and they’re just voting because of the craze. If Obama gets elected, obviously because the majority of voters voted for him, it won’t be because he’s the better candidate, it will be because the voters don’t understand why they are personally in financial distress and because of that they blame the war instead of accepting responsibility for their actions. Obama keeps using buzz words like hope and change and that resinates with politically uneducated voters.

Comment by KT

Obama is using these unsuspecting voters as a tool. And you fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Looks like several questions in there to me.
1. I am fine with finger pointing at republicans
2. I don’t care if he wears a flag lapel pin or not most Americans I see do not wear lapel pins.
3. Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible for body armor not just Democrats.
4. Veterans do need to get their benefits but to suggest that Democrats do not want Veterans to get their benefits and Republicans do is rediculous.
5. personally I am against domestic wire taps but not over seas wire taps.

Hope that answers your questions.

Democrats are not evil or wrong, Republicans are not evil or wrong they are just different, as time goes by they are becoming less differant, America is moving towards the center, the far right and left are a dieing breed.

SO YOU ARE OKAY WITH OBAMA NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS POSITION? YES OR NO.

Comment by An Observer

I think both sides should answer questions on their positions but both sides dodge questions at different times.
I have heard Obama answer many questions on his positions, as I said he is not perfect but he is currently the best candidate running.
KT most Americans are politically uneducated both Republicans and Democrats, they are to busy living their lives to study politics, but I think they know enough to know who is the right candidate for them.

Coward. I’m done with you.

You just don’t get it. On your #5 you’re indicating that we can eavesdrop on the terrorists if they’re overseas, but we can’t eavesdrop on them if they’re chattering in the homeland. We share the same wires, citizens and terrorists and drug dealers and child molesters, all on the same line. You’re more concerned over protecting the rights of a child molester who chatters on a phone line or goes on the internet and IM’s his fellow child molesting buddies than you are of American’s national security or the protection of the child. This is the same type of thinking of people who will argue that we can’t use spy satellite images to look inside a house with an active meth lab unless we have a search warrant. Even if little children are running around breathing in the toxic fumes. You would rather we spent costly time tracking down a judge, completing tons of time consuming paperwork and then hope that you don’t get a liberal minded judge who would block the request. Meanwhile lives would be at risk, innocent children. Who are you protecting, the criminals, the terrorist or the everyday person who wouldn’t be affected by the language written within the FISA law?

You’re politically uneducated. You haven’t given me anything on the iussues, same concept that Obama holds to. Now I underdstand why you’re advocating for him. Just a bunch of hollow propaganda.

You’re wasting your breath KT. He’s a professional victim. I gave him 3 chances to answer the question and he demurred…just like his messiah-candidate. When I gave up in disgust, well…his reaction is what any shrink would call passive-aggressive. He’s a troll, nothing less. He and Obama deserve each other. -Rod-

THE 545 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA’S WOES

BY CHARLEY REESE

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices – 545 human beings out of the 300 million – are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton- picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a SPEAKER, who stood up and criticized G.W. BUSH for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.

Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE THE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts – of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can’t think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.

There are no insoluble goverment problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses – provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

A truism that I’ve been aware of for quite some time, Susan, is that the political parties are simply different sides of the same tarnished coin. You sometimes see the evil when committee members come out of a hearing blasting away at the President over some issue…usually the war or a specific aspect of it when it comes into the light of the public eye…and you know darn good and well that the committee members have known about it for quite some time. Rockefeller is good at letting things slip out in such a fashion. These people are holding secrets…they know the dirt…and are perfectly content to hold it until they have a suitable target to dish it out on. When I listen to politicians pontificate about the ‘wrongness’ of the war only to find out later about their own complicities, it makes me want to put them all on the first plane to France. All of them. -Rod-

KT,

If they are not one and the same then they are certainly working together. Frick and frack fancy themselves as political operatives, when they really are just tiny cogs in a very large machine. Where they fancy themselves as master manipulators, I see them only as master baiters. Intellectually dishonest cretins that have never had an original thought in their lives…true believers, so long as someone tells them what to believe.

I’ve dealt with their type before, the last time was with some Soros’ operatives before the last election. They were similarly stupid and also refused to share their ‘wisdom’. I seem to recall accusing them of engaging in an intellectual circle jerk with each other. Ah well.

Have a good evening! -Rod-

I wondered where the political debate had moved to.
It looks like some have hammered on a couple of new comers again for having an opinion, surprise surprise.
I don’t see where either one of those guys said they came to debate or be educated or to educate, maybe they just came to give their opinions and nothing more.

Susan your statement hit the nail right on the head, both parties are corrupt and not as different as some would like to think.

VHI–

I thought this article sent to me was perfect- as a reminder-

I can’t believe how much power the Speaker of the House has- how goes the pecking order? If the President goes down, the Vice-President takes over, and if the VP goes down, the Speaker of the House takes over?

As for the President’s duties, the best way to find these without searching is just to look at the Constitution- The Executive Branch- Article II, Section 2-

Susan, all we have to do is vote them out when we don’t agree with what they are voting on. I think it’s American voters responsibility to track what their Congressional members are voting on and the voters should accept partial blame. We can’t give these people a free pass to destroy our economy.

To both Observers, I will chat with you about politics if you want, I promise I won’t jump on you, generally I am pretty mild mannered about politics except the war gets my blood pressure up sometimes but that is about it.

Observer, I am thinking about voting for Obama myself, he pretty much only has one issue of mine but McCain does not have any issues of mine at the present, as a registered Republican if I do vote for him it will be the first Democratic President I have ever voted for, I have voted for a Democrat before in the congress but never the white house, what do you like about Obama ?

Comment by An Observer

Obama is for national health care, I have a family of 5 and my employer does not offer health care nor can I afford $800.00 a month for it, so I really need national health care, he is against the war, and he is for taking more guns off the streets, those are just a few reasons I like him.
I generally vote Democrat but I lean towards the middle.

Comment by VH1

Obsever all good reason to vote for him, personally I am against National health care at the present simply because I have health care with my company but if I did not have health care with my company I would be for it like you, I am also against gun control because I am somewhat of a gun nut, I am against the war like yourself which is why I think I might vote for him, because McCain is against guns just like Obama.

I see that Adam has posted a tax topic, I have not been there yet but I think I will go over there and check it out, you should come too.

It’s fascinating how many people expect a handout while refusing to take responsibility for their own situation. Me, if my employer didn’t offer healthcare, I’d man up, provide for my own family and look elsewhere.

Observer I think you are doing just fine at providing for your family, I know how hard it can be, don’t listen to criticism, it is not worth your time.

Half the people that would tell you to do something different don’t even have families.
and the other half already have insurance with their employer like me.

Don’t give up like so many men do.
