GOT IT!

We’ve all been talking about this for nearly a week and all it took was one shot…surely opening some eyes in Beijing, Tehran and Moscow. I have to tell you, they were 4 minutes ahead of the launch time discuss late in the afternoon. The important fact….the USS Lake Erie, captain, crew and contractors, nailed the satellite on the first try. Now we wait to hear if they destroyed the toxic fuel tank. Here’s the official word and my favorite picture of the USS Lake Erie.

                      dsc_0397.jpg

DoD Succeeds In Intercepting Non-Functioning Satellite
A network of land-, air-, sea- and spaced-based sensors confirms that the U.S. military intercepted a non-functioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite which was in its final orbits before entering the earth’s atmosphere.

At approximately 10:26 p.m. EST today, a U.S. Navy AEGIS warship, the USS Lake Erie (CG-70), fired a single modified tactical Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) hitting the satellite approximately 247 kilometers (133 nautical miles) over the Pacific Ocean as it traveled in space at more than 17,000 mph. USS Decatur (DDG-73) and USS Russell (DDG-59) were also part of the task force.

The objective was to rupture the fuel tank to dissipate the approximately 1,000 pounds (453 kg) of hydrazine, a hazardous fuel which could pose a danger to people on earth, before it entered into earth’s atmosphere. Confirmation that the fuel tank has been fragmented should be available within 24 hours.

Due to the relatively low altitude of the satellite at the time of the engagement, debris will begin to re-enter the earth’s
atmosphere immediately. Nearly all of the debris will burn up on reentry within 24-48 hours and the remaining debris should re-enter within 40 days.

Observer I think you are doing just fine at providing for your family, I know how hard it can be, don’t listen to criticism, it is not worth your time.

Half the people that would tell you to do something different don’t even have families. and the other half already have insurance with their employer like me.

Don’t give up like so many men do.

It’s fascinating how many people expect a handout while refusing to take responsibility for their own situation. Me, if my employer didn’t offer healthcare, I’d man up, provide for my own family and look elsewhere.

Comment by VH1

Obsever all good reason to vote for him, personally I am against National health care at the present simply because I have health care with my company but if I did not have health care with my company I would be for it like you, I am also against gun control because I am somewhat of a gun nut, I am against the war like yourself which is why I think I might vote for him, because McCain is against guns just like Obama.

I see that Adam has posted a tax topic, I have not been there yet but I think I will go over there and check it out, you should come too.

Comment by An Observer

Obama is for national health care, I have a family of 5 and my employer does not offer health care nor can I afford $800.00 a month for it, so I really need national health care, he is against the war, and he is for taking more guns off the streets, those are just a few reasons I like him.
I generally vote Democrat but I lean towards the middle.

Comment by VH1

To both Observers, I will chat with you about politics if you want, I promise I won’t jump on you, generally I am pretty mild mannered about politics except the war gets my blood pressure up sometimes but that is about it.

Observer, I am thinking about voting for Obama myself, he pretty much only has one issue of mine but McCain does not have any issues of mine at the present, as a registered Republican if I do vote for him it will be the first Democratic President I have ever voted for, I have voted for a Democrat before in the congress but never the white house, what do you like about Obama ?

Comment by KT

Susan, all we have to do is vote them out when we don’t agree with what they are voting on. I think it’s American voters responsibility to track what their Congressional members are voting on and the voters should accept partial blame. We can’t give these people a free pass to destroy our economy.

VHI–

I thought this article sent to me was perfect- as a reminder-

I can’t believe how much power the Speaker of the House has- how goes the pecking order? If the President goes down, the Vice-President takes over, and if the VP goes down, the Speaker of the House takes over?

As for the President’s duties, the best way to find these without searching is just to look at the Constitution- The Executive Branch- Article II, Section 2-

I wondered where the political debate had moved to.
It looks like some have hammered on a couple of new comers again for having an opinion, surprise surprise.
I don’t see where either one of those guys said they came to debate or be educated or to educate, maybe they just came to give their opinions and nothing more.

Susan your statement hit the nail right on the head, both parties are corrupt and not as different as some would like to think.

KT,

If they are not one and the same then they are certainly working together. Frick and frack fancy themselves as political operatives, when they really are just tiny cogs in a very large machine. Where they fancy themselves as master manipulators, I see them only as master baiters. Intellectually dishonest cretins that have never had an original thought in their lives…true believers, so long as someone tells them what to believe.

I’ve dealt with their type before, the last time was with some Soros’ operatives before the last election. They were similarly stupid and also refused to share their ‘wisdom’. I seem to recall accusing them of engaging in an intellectual circle jerk with each other. Ah well.

Have a good evening! -Rod-

A truism that I’ve been aware of for quite some time, Susan, is that the political parties are simply different sides of the same tarnished coin. You sometimes see the evil when committee members come out of a hearing blasting away at the President over some issue…usually the war or a specific aspect of it when it comes into the light of the public eye…and you know darn good and well that the committee members have known about it for quite some time. Rockefeller is good at letting things slip out in such a fashion. These people are holding secrets…they know the dirt…and are perfectly content to hold it until they have a suitable target to dish it out on. When I listen to politicians pontificate about the ‘wrongness’ of the war only to find out later about their own complicities, it makes me want to put them all on the first plane to France. All of them. -Rod-

Someone just sent this to me– enjoy

THE 545 PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR AMERICA’S WOES

BY CHARLEY REESE

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don’t write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don’t set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don’t control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 300 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton- picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.

No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a SPEAKER, who stood up and criticized G.W. BUSH for creating deficits.

The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes.

Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto.

REPLACE THE SCOUNDRELS

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.

I can’t think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people.

When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.

There are no insoluble goverment problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.

Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees. We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

We had a big thing about the cheese heroin here on the news too a few weeks ago- some kid died- and then it went quiet– good for Hannity for bringing this issue back up-

KT,

I first heard about that cheese heroin maybe a month ago. I was shocked at first then remembered that Tylenol is used in drugs like Vicodin to boost it’s effectiveness. Since they are both opiates, it makes sense that some jerk would add it to heroin. I’d guess that it’s going to kill a lot of kids. -Rod-

Sean is reporting that a DEA investigation showed that the mexican drug dealers crossed the border and rented a bunch of apartments to set up their operation. On my site I wrote about what Oklahoma did to stop the illegal aliens fron getting apartments. This is absurd stuff. A lucrative market aimed at our kids. The border is still porous.

Comment by KT

The children are being told it’s tylenol, but it’s mixed with 5% heroine. It immediately becomes addictive, so market value increases because the child has to buy more because of the addiction. It’s cheap to make because of the small percentage in the dosage, will cost them their lunch money no big deal.

It’s being traced back to Mexico. Mostly happening in Texas right now. Those borders and tunnels need to be closed.

Rod, he did the same thing with me. I’ve wasted my time challenging him on the issues, responded to his comments and he came back with nothing… everttime I came back with a challenge, except for oBersevrer2 responding to the Thomas Jefferson quote, the challenge went ignored.

Comment by KT

How sad are you to not be able to debate issues. You came here looking for a debate, at least that’s what you said, but you haven’t debated any issues. You just can’t handle that I came back and challenged your unsupported view points. I’ve seen you both on other blogs. You do this elsewhere too, stir up the bloggers then you leave. It’s pathetic actually.

I’m willing to debate you, both. But please give me some issues that you can back up. Otherwise it turns into political education on our part while you sit back, take notes, then go to other blogs with ammunition.

And thank you for clearing up your interpretation on Thomas Jefferson’s quote.

Comment by Observer 2

observer,

he is pathetic, and if you choose to like obama and vote for him, this person does not have the right to verbally insult you as he has for the last few days. does he run this blog and does he the right to tell you who to like and vote for? i bet he sits on his arse and does nothing for a living .

Comment by Observer 2

the thomas jefferson quote was meant to say one is always having to be on the look out which is the at the cost of freedom.

i think you people are pretty nasty. if someone wants to vote for obama or likes obama, you think you can just gun them down with your nasty comments, by verbal abuse. how sad are you?

You’re wasting your breath KT. He’s a professional victim. I gave him 3 chances to answer the question and he demurred…just like his messiah-candidate. When I gave up in disgust, well…his reaction is what any shrink would call passive-aggressive. He’s a troll, nothing less. He and Obama deserve each other. -Rod-

Comment by KT

No it’s not a Republican characteristic. But, we’re also not here to educate you and that’s we’ve been doing. We can lead you to the water but we can’t force you to drink it, so you will go on thirsty for the knowledge (sounds like BS that a liberal will through into an argument).

You just don’t get it. On your #5 you’re indicating that we can eavesdrop on the terrorists if they’re overseas, but we can’t eavesdrop on them if they’re chattering in the homeland. We share the same wires, citizens and terrorists and drug dealers and child molesters, all on the same line. You’re more concerned over protecting the rights of a child molester who chatters on a phone line or goes on the internet and IM’s his fellow child molesting buddies than you are of American’s national security or the protection of the child. This is the same type of thinking of people who will argue that we can’t use spy satellite images to look inside a house with an active meth lab unless we have a search warrant. Even if little children are running around breathing in the toxic fumes. You would rather we spent costly time tracking down a judge, completing tons of time consuming paperwork and then hope that you don’t get a liberal minded judge who would block the request. Meanwhile lives would be at risk, innocent children. Who are you protecting, the criminals, the terrorist or the everyday person who wouldn’t be affected by the language written within the FISA law?

You’re politically uneducated. You haven’t given me anything on the iussues, same concept that Obama holds to. Now I underdstand why you’re advocating for him. Just a bunch of hollow propaganda.

Comment by An Observer

This guy is down right hostile to people with a different opinion, is that a Republican characteristic ?

Coward. I’m done with you.

Comment by An Observer

I think both sides should answer questions on their positions but both sides dodge questions at different times.
I have heard Obama answer many questions on his positions, as I said he is not perfect but he is currently the best candidate running.
KT most Americans are politically uneducated both Republicans and Democrats, they are to busy living their lives to study politics, but I think they know enough to know who is the right candidate for them.

SO YOU ARE OKAY WITH OBAMA NOT ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS POSITION? YES OR NO.

Comment by An Observer

Looks like several questions in there to me.
1. I am fine with finger pointing at republicans
2. I don’t care if he wears a flag lapel pin or not most Americans I see do not wear lapel pins.
3. Both Republicans and Democrats are responsible for body armor not just Democrats.
4. Veterans do need to get their benefits but to suggest that Democrats do not want Veterans to get their benefits and Republicans do is rediculous.
5. personally I am against domestic wire taps but not over seas wire taps.

Hope that answers your questions.

Democrats are not evil or wrong, Republicans are not evil or wrong they are just different, as time goes by they are becoming less differant, America is moving towards the center, the far right and left are a dieing breed.

Comment by KT

Obama is using these unsuspecting voters as a tool. And you fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Comment by KT

No Observer, Obama had to make that statement because responsible voters are pointing out that the Obama crazed voters don’t understand politics and they’re just voting because of the craze. If Obama gets elected, obviously because the majority of voters voted for him, it won’t be because he’s the better candidate, it will be because the voters don’t understand why they are personally in financial distress and because of that they blame the war instead of accepting responsibility for their actions. Obama keeps using buzz words like hope and change and that resinates with politically uneducated voters.

So you’re okay with a guy, when asked a question about HIS position, instead points fingers at Republicans?

About not wearing an American flag lapel pin, Obama said Republicans have no lock on patriotism.

“A party that presided over a war in which our troops did not get the body armor they needed, or were sending troops over who were untrained because of poor planning, or are not fulfilling the veterans’ benefits that these troops need when they come home, or are undermining our Constitution with warrantless wiretaps that are unnecessary?

It’s a simple yes or no question directed to you.

Comment by An Observer

Like Obama said in the last debate the millions of people that vote for him are not delusional, they just do not see the world the same way that you do.

Don’t worry be happy, we will be fine with Obama as our President.

they are not cheap but how much is YOUR safety worth to you.
You better hurry before they are all gone. ;)
IF Obama gets elected then I think that alone will make a statement as to how the Majority of Americans feel.
Americans who vote for Obama do not feel unsafe, nor do they think that fighting wars in other countries make us safer,
If McCain gets elected then it would appear that the Majority do fear terrorists and do think that wars on foreign soil make us safer.
there will no doubt be other attacks against the U.S. regardless of war, that is just part of life.
I guess we will find out very soon how the Majority of Americans feel, personally I think Obama will win, McCain is a good guy but I do not think he has the views of the Majority of Americans.

I’ll be back later as well. Need to shower, eat…

Comment by KT

I’ll check back later.

Comment by KT

It will be too late, maximum damage will already be inflicted on us. Obama seems to think it’s ok to go back to the cumbersome way of obtaining information through wiretaps. The purpose of the FISA law was to lift the restraints so we could quickly get the information needed. You only get one shot at it. There’s no rewind button on the terrorists conversations allowing you time to get a search warrant.

KT,

Really. Who’s Obama to deem warrantless wiretaps to be unneccesary? We’re not talking about the legality of them but the necessity! I think that’s a blunder he’s going to find hard to overcome. Listening in to Islamists, those that sympathize or fund them…that’s always a necessity.

At some point in the future, if/when they get lucky and hit us again, people are going to be asking how we missed it. How will Obama feel if it comes down to the fact that we weren’t listening when we should have been? Will he accept responsibility? Or will he, like he’s done in the rest of the article, simply point fingers at someone else? -Rod-

Comment by KT

Rod, I heard Obama say that during the debate. That’s what they do, it’s propaganda. They took that one incident, made it a major statement and insinuated that it is the staus-quo for what has been happening to all troops. People hear this and they fall for it. It’s sad that people can’t think for themselves and read between the lines. People allow him to put these messages into their brains.

Indeed he did, KT. I wonder how Raul will act? They are claiming there’ll be no changes, but what countries say and what they do are often two different things.

It’d have been nice if the people were given an opportunity to choose. Socialism is such an evil beasty. -Rod-

Comment by KT

Rod, the voters don’t have a clue what they’re in for if he gets into office. I would think that it would be a couple of years, maybe 2-4 yrs, before Americans realize that their financial situation not only didn’t get better, but it got worse. That Obama will still be fighting a war in Afganistan, a country that is our allie and doesn’t want us in there blowing things up. That terrorist will be running rampad everywhere but Afhanistan, that Iran will be closer to producing a nuclear bomb, that Russia, Chavez, Iran, Syria, China and other communists terroristic countries will join forces and wreak havoc on Americans. Then they’ll realize that the oceans that once kept us safe from countries that want to do us harm would no longer be an obstacle for the terrorists. Then they’ll realize that because we had to be politcally correct by not enforcing racial profiling by the TSA at our airports, that we’re still vulnerable to terrorist attacks.

Thank you Obama, for making us feel so much safer.

I especially despise this answer. Typical that he won’t explain his own actions…

Raul became Cuba’s new leader.

Hey Obama…THIS is no answer! Those people at the ball games? THEY are not running for President. Like most liberals I’ve encountered, they deflect when asked direct questions and Obama’s no exception. Here’s a portion of his comments…there’s a link below:

” Asked how he would fight the image of being unpatriotic, Obama said, “There’s always some nonsense going on in general elections. Right? If it wasn’t this, it would be something else. If you recall, first it was my name. Right? That was a problem. And then there was the Muslim e-mail thing and that hasn’t worked out so well, and now it’s the patriotism thing.

“The way I will respond to it is with the truth: that I owe everything I am to this country,” he said. Obama said it was a speech about his love for this country that put him in the national spotlight. He shot down the idea that failing to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem makes him unpatriotic.

“If that were the case, that would disqualify about three-quarters of the people who have ever gone to a football game or baseball game.”"

OBL and AQ were both wanted and Clinton’s response was to bomb a pharmacuetical company to help divert attention to the Monica Lewinsky scandal. I can guarantee you the people who were chosen to take these polls and were asked if they support war, are the same people who do not understand the value of the success of this war and they do not follow politics in general, except for hearing a few sound bites each day by the mainstream media.

You say that people don’t care about what the spouses of the candidates say and their opinions, try telling that one to Hillary and the possible future First Lady, Bill.

You commented on the subject of guns and insinuated that children are getting the guns from their parents. Where do you get this crap from? Most gun owners who go through the proper channels of legally purchasing a firearm do take proper precautions. The guns that the children are obtaining come from the streets. It’s the Liberal attitude of do whatever makes you feel good and not worry about the consequences. It is those parents who allow their children to be on the streets exposed to this lifestyle where illegal gun sales are adequately made available to these children. Taking away their gun owner’s Amendment right will not stop these children from killing because the source of the problem is not initiated from the legal gun owner.

It’s obvious that you have forgotten about the bombing of our World Trade Center, USS Cole, Kenya, Nairobi, Tanzania (Emassy bombings).

Fighting terrorist’s in foreign countries will not eliminate the actions of sick individuals either.
The best solution to keep things that KT mentioned from happening is to stay forever vigilant ( pay close attention ) to what others are doing here in the U.S., screen passengers at the airport etc.

Rod nobody cares about what a candidates spouse thinks, they should keep their mouthes shut, unfortunatly it seems to be hard to get them to do that.

Many people were quite happy with President Clinton, happier than they are now, the U.S. was spending much less money when he was in office and we were at peace.
