Relevance, Senator John McCain and the GOP Choice for VP

After Senator Hillary Clinton’s big wins in Texas and Ohio, Barack Obama clearly owned Wyoming Saturday…caucus-goers there choosing the Illinois Democrat with a record turnout. Still, the delegate distribution could be termed a “near-tie”, Obama securing 7 more delegates, Clinton walking away with another 5.

Senator McCain remains focused on the Mississippi race Tuesday and then Pennsylvania April 22nd…but how does he keep up the momentum for both the GOP and his plans for a McCain Presidency?

That’s what we’ll examine today in America’s Election Headquarters at 10am eastern when I host two hours with Eric Shawn.

We’ll show you a new Senator McCain campaign ad…the Arizona Senator must not only bring more conservatives aboard, he must build his general election campaign infra-structure, raise campaign cash and select a vice-presidental nominee that will attract not only republicans but cross-over voters as well.

Who do you think is the VP choice most likely to secure John McCain a victory in November?

Post your choice here!

Charlie Crist, current governor of Big State Florida, would be best VP candidate on ticket with McCain. Why can’t everyone see that? You want a Republican (even if it is McCain) in the White House, don’t you? Then Crist it is. Google him or listen to him speak sometime.

I THINK that Mike Hucabee is a good choice as He is really a conserative & can reach the evangelical vote Also He & Senator Mckain are not one to send a nagative to others as much as the others really like to do. Why don’t the Demo’s get to real issues ??? I pray for God to put the one He would like. after We roll the dice ,Where it lands is up
to God !!. I am not voting for Obama, but He is no more negative than Hillary & her TEARS !!!!!
Where o where is Billy Bill?? They sure like to chew !! chew on !!!! ‘

Mike Huckabee is the man!!!

Comment by pat sarver

Iowans for Huckabee posted this and it’s absolutely true:

“Okay folks, about Huck as VP.

The same so-called conservatives who did not support, and even attacked Mike during the primary are not going to support Mike as a VP choice. There are too many of them inside McCain’s camp, and Mike is not going to be considered.

I know that is sad to hear, but that is the truth. McCain is an insider and he will play to the wishes of insiders in the GOP. Mike is not an insider, and the RNC only likes insiders.

I have already heard Hannity and others trying to push Romney for VP. This party has little respect for real conservatives, as evidenced by the GOPs watering down of issues like Abortion, Marriage, Moral decay, etc.

All the GOP focuses on these days is cutting taxes, fighting the war, and cutting spending etc. All good things, but the economic issues will not be solvable and the war will not be won unless the GOP gets the priorities right.”
So i may have been right a month ago when i said Mitt Romeny was all but given the VP spot when he dropped out and pledged delegates. Gov Huckabee would be the far better choice, but the powers that be that wanted McCain as the nominee are the same powers that be that will not want Mike as VP.
McCain may speak kindly of Mike on camera but that’s as far as it goes.

Comment by pat sarver

rudy and dennis miller. interesting you chose those over Huckabee.
Let me put it to you this way;McCain has to attract the conservative vote and the evangelical vote and grabbing the South does no harm either. If McCain were to pick Rudy you can forget getting the conservative vote right there.
And Miller is a great guy but he’s a personality.Period.And nobody would take him seriously as a VP.That would totally destroy McCain’s credibility.
Huckabee would not steal McCains thunder-he might actually add some to the ticket.Trust me it needs some.

Comment by John of Aloha, Oregon

I know a lot of people have expressed an interest in Governor Mike Huckabee. I like him too but I feel he would forget he’s not in charge and steal McCain’s thunder. I think he is a good person and politician and gifted speaker but he is too regional (South) and does not have the necessary command of foreign affairs. He would make a good Sec of Education as that seems to be one of his main reform goals. Governor Mitt Romney would be a good choice but his LDS faith is still difficult for many Americans to accept even though it never was an issue when he was Governor as far as I know and he gave a good speech much like JFK to explain how his faith will not interfere with his Presidential decisions but it fell on too many deaf ears. He would make a good Sec of Commerce or Treasury. Joe Liberman, Jack Kemp or Bill Bennett would be good choices but they are getting on in years and a younger candidate seems to be necessary for balance. I’d like to see Sec of State Condi Rice as his VP but I don’t think she wants to run. I hope she proves me wrong and Sen. McCain offers her the job. He doesn’t have much of a chance but I’d like to see Rudy on the ticket. As far as a personal favorite who will never be asked but who I think would be a perfect VP and attract the Baby Boomer votes, that would be Dennis Miller. He’s very bright, funny, yet serious when it’s called for and if McCain were every indisposed Miller would not hesitate to stand in for him and go toe to toe against any foe like Hugo Chavez, Kim Ill Jr. , or Mahmood Ahaneedajob. He’s give them a good piece of his mind.

i posted this at soda head WEEKS ago re the VP pick.
Predicting McCain had made a deal with Romney and that he’d end up the VP choice.
Read the comments back too.

Not a word about the Huckabee choices here(Fox)are there? Imagine that.
“I’ll write in Mike Huckabee’s name on the ballot and so will a zillion others who believe in his cause. You ain’t seen NOTHING yet!”
Got that right. :^)

Comment by VL Fitz

Mike Huckabee drew out conservative voters that McCain couldn’t get. The conservatives don’t trust McCain. I like the idea of Condi Rice. She’s strong, smart, level headed but she has ties to Bush and we know where he stands at the moment. Mitt Romney has flipped as much as John Kerry. I was initially for him when the whole campaign started but have since lost a lot of trust and respect for him. I know there are a lot not in favor Huckabee but I think that Mitt Romney would be a huge mistake.

Comment by Kerry

If McCain cares about the Christian vote (especially Evangelicals) and others who care about the core of families, he’d choose Huckabee. If he wants arrogance, Romney is his man. If he wants the Good ol’ Boys to choose for him, it could be Crist . KBH is an interesting choice. Condi would be amazing but she isn’t interested.

Me, a younger mom in a liberal state on the Left Coast… I heart Huckabee!

He should be careful here… the chattering is that many will let the Left have it to send a message of reform to the party.

It’s hard to believe there would even be hesitation on this decision. McCain NEEDS the southern states to win in November. Mike Huckabee proved he can win those states. Why take an unknown and put that person on the ticket as the VP? Seems like any choice other than Huckabee would be taking a big risk for the Republicans. Plus, McCain is so dull and drab, he needs someone with spunk and personality to spice up the race. Mike Huckabee is the only option as VP in my opinion.

Comment by pat sarver

you want the truth? Here tis;the day Romney dropped out and threw his delegates McCain’s way they had a deal for Romney on the VP spot. Either before he dropped out or right after.I’ll lay odds it was before…another one of those behind the door deals. How do i know this? Gut instinct-the way things are done-AND Romney has the $ for the campaign that McCain needs. That said,Huckabee is his best choice but i think the deal was already done.
Know how this goes.We shall see.

Interesting…ROmney’s website is back up…so his backroom bloggers are probably plugging in to all these “comment” sites and shoving ole Mitt down our throats once again so it “sounds” like everyone is for Mitt. NOT
Mitt is still Mitt…flip flopping to the end…negative campaigner…fake…plastic…not true blue…you name it…say only what he thinks you want to hear…UGH!!!
I’m telling you this…IF (a big “if”) this coupling with McCain happens…I’ll write in Mike Huckabee’s name on the ballot and so will a zillion others who believe in his cause. You ain’t seen NOTHING yet!

Comment by Jim

Please, remember the idea here is try to keep a republican in office, no matter how poor the choice (sorry) but PLEASE let’s not make this worse by thinking that adding somebody like Ron Paul, that although he had a few good ideas, was so far from midstream that he barely garnered votes… We already gave the nod to the one of the most left-leaning people for President in McCain as it is, lets not compound it by adding somebody more left leaning, then our choice would truly be democrat, or demorepublican, not much difference..
I think Mitt would be a poor chice strictly on the fact that he ran on a platform and threw it away as soon as he dropped out by backing McCain.
McCain leans too far left, he needs a strong conservative to balance his ticket, Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, or even Fred Thompson would be good choices. (I really like Newt too, but too much baggage?).

Mitt Romney would be the ideal VP choice with his strong financial background to offset Mc Cain’s foreign.

i believe Mike Huckabee is the best man for the job!! he would make an honest, intelligent, charismatic, and caring for the people VP!!!! and of course he would help MacCain to resolve his issues with social coservatives that dont like him and wont vote for him…. also is just the fair and smart thing to do because regardless the efforts of the party and the media to ignore him.. he got lost of votes and lost of passionate supporters so there you have your answer!
Erin with all due respect, stop trying to tarnish Mike Huckabee’s reputacion.. it sounds to me like you are one of the few in Arkansas that his holding a grudge against him for wherever reason, Rice???? is a pro-choice so im asumming you must be very liberal.. that would make sense then… so respectfully i ask you not to make those kind of comments if you dont know anything for a fact then dont say it … because thats unfair and misleading… be objective!
in other note if Mike if not VP i think Ron Paul would be a good choice as well!

Comment by pat sarver

“Its what you see on tv that counts.” bout it too.Mike Huckabee really got cheated.Everyone noticed the lack of enthusiasm in the Rep race. That’s cos the powers that be and the media picked McCain. They picked the wrong guy. There was enthusiasm.TONS of it but the media missed it and didn’t cover but what seemed to be patronizing of Mike and his support. The enthusiasm for Huckabee could barely be contained.Turn on the news.Ok.Where is the coverage.Nada.
They gave more air time to his concession speech than they did the whole time he ran.And when they actually killed themselves to give him air time they wasted it on the same question over and over. You know the one.I don’t even have to tell you.
Why do we have a nominee we have to plug our noses to vote for-when we had one even the Dems liked?
Thank the media and RNC for this boondoggle.
Mike should have and could have taken Texas except the media pounding home the point McCain was the presumed nominee and the RNC thinking he was the ticket.
Why i don’t know. Did they ask Hillary why she was still in the race? NOPE.Did they ask her why she didn’t drop out?Nope.
Only Mike. This is the choice.Plug your nose McCain or wait it out till 2012.OR hope McCain and the RNC have the brains to get Mike on the ticket. The whole system is horrid(and basically corrupt).Ron Paul took votes away from Huckabee but you couldn’t get through to the RP supporters that all they were doing was throwing a vote to McCain. They don’t want to reason with anyone. They even asked us to support RP after Huckabee conceeded. No thanks. After all the help they offered i wouldn’t even consider it.And their forums-viscous stuff about Mike. They did some other nasty tricks too that i won’t mention. But trust me they were not all above board.
Last time-it’s Huckabee on the ticket or they can count on me writing in Huckabee.
Anyone think there’s enough of us out there to actually elect Mike in spite of the coronation?

Comment by tim black

Mike Huckabee is the only right choice for McCain to choose, he was a governor for 10 years, he has experience, integrity, honesty and a firm moral compass! The Fair Tax he supports would be the BIGGEST CHANGE IN WASHINGTON IN 100 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! He advocates a military strong enough to DARE anyone to provoke the USA’s wrath, a border fence in a reasonable time and real immigration refor mand enforcement of our laws!!!!!!!!!!! He has ECONOMIC EXPERIENCE from running a government and was voted by his fellow governor to head up the American Governors Council. Sounds like a great resume’ to me!

Comment by Erin

I would love for it to be Rice - matches the two democrat contenders with race and gender - but I have a feeling she would decline. If not her, then Romney. Besides his conservative values, he has youth and charisma, which would balance Cain’s age and personality ‘glitches.’

And, Mr. Ortiz…I’m a republican from Arkansas, and I can tell you that not ALL republicans were thrilled with Mr. Huckabee. I certainly had problems with his education issues, and the way that he had all of the computer hard drives crushed when he left office seems very sneaky to me. No reason to be sneaky if you don’t have something to hide.

Mike Huckabee did everything he promised in his State of Arkansas, (on the heels of a Clinton

flunkie governor who got expelled due to Whitewater Scandal)…He promised huge improvements

and he

did just that…that’s why he won Arkansas by such a

HUGE margin ! He also made history for a white man to get like more tha 80% of the black vote

in his state. He is like a DEMOCRAT in terms of reform. He cares about the poor, but really

cares about America staying free and sovreign, for everyone. The other three want Nafta

Union

combining our countries(Mexico, us and Canada). They are hoping we don’t ask them about

that..!!!
If we do THEY WILL HAFTA DO NAFTA COMMERCIALS AGAIN AND LIE ABOUT THEIR

POSITIONS

AGAIN . …. NAFTA BAD !!!!! Ask Ohio and Texas how this works…cause then you’ll get a

straight answer.

That superhighway in Texas, just the beginning. I don’t know if McCain wants Huckabee…

would let him in, cause Huckabee is too smart and knows too much! I say HUCKABEE FOR

PREZ. They muscled him out because he is the real thing…!00% honest. We have been

left with SCANDALS INSTEAD OF CANDIDATES. The Gop should ask Mc Cain to step down.

He is up to

his blankety-blank in scandals . If Huckabee runs with him I MIGHT vote for mc cain , but Huckabee would win FIRST PLACE if we had

a re-vote in Florida. People here are seeing more bad in Mc Cain, Obama. They want

Huckabee, even lots of Democrats. I mean alot more ” @#^&$#@@##$ ” HAS COME OUT

SINCE THE FLORIDA PRIMARY !!!!! Those that voted for Romney here, would probably like Huckabee NOW.

SERIOUSLY, WE HAD LIKE 5 OR 6 Republican choices at the time of the Florida Primary…..Now

that is messed up since we didn’t get

to vote between the SEMI-FINALISTS OR FINALISTS ….The system is screwsome too.
I hope we

are all on the same

page and reading the same news…We all know the gas prices, right ?…Have a brain and Check

out who is best with a buck…huck a buck …huck a buck SAVER !!!! I just decided i will not pick vote

mc cain or obama or hillary or nader …i will WRITE IN HUCKABEE EVEN IF HE IS ON THE VICE

PRESIDENT SLOT…PRESIDENT WRITE IN MIKE ONLY (CONTACT ME IF YOU AGREE:

McCain needs to choose a VP that he can have a great working relationship with. Just the thought of a McCain Romey ticket reminds me of a bad marriage and squabbling fighting spouses on the verge of divorce…no way should he choose Romney!

it’s late at night, but I wanted to toss in my 2 cents…Mike Huckabee all the way! He would be such a blessing to McCain. I don’t see Huckabee as power hungry or self-seeking…he would be a great confidante to McCain and I think with him on the ticket, the GOP would have victory over the Dems! Without him…not so sure…

Oh, and by the way…Fl’s Gov Crist may be popular in South Fl…but he certainly would not swing our state for McCain!

Comment by pat sarver

the media treated Mike deplorably. The RNC didn’t treat him a lot better. When things were pikcing up for Mike and the race went to Texas they crankned it up knowing a Huckabee win in Tex would turn the race on its head. They had to make sure McCain won.
He won’t win the election. No way.Now if he puts Huckabee on as VP he stands a chance.
I won’t vote for McCain otherwise.
The whole thing was a sham. The media calling McCain the ‘presumed’ nominee. The RNC acting like he had it clinched.PPL didn’t vote for him because they assumed it was over.
I have never seen a candidate in second place blacked out of the media like Mike was.
He should get the VP spot, but i think McCain already had some done deals. You know how this goes.

Mike is a decent man and would make a gr8 VP..if not Mike in 2012.Actually it should have been the other way around.Huckabee w/ McCain as VP but he got a very raw deal from the RNC and the media both.
A shame.
Anyway,It’s Mike Huckabee.None better!

Mike Huckabee is the best choice. His support is grassroots and will give time, enthusiasm, and heart to the campaign.

Comment by Bobby Clinkert

To be comepletely honest…. Mike Huckabee seems to be the best shot at the republicans winning the white house again. This is the year that it will all come to the VICE PRESIDENT for BOTH SIDES! Huckabee will win the south for John and Mr. Mccain will take the north/northeast. The evangelical base is ginormous and will also follow in huckabees footsteps. The huckster will unite the repubs and turn this country around… also will take the nomination in ‘12 to be the commander and chief of this beautiful country!

Comment by carol

Huckabee! hands down! everyone needs to think about how a business man gets to the top in business. how many smaller business people get stepped on or killed (bankruptcy) for that one to get to the top. check out the story of staples for example. just do this country a favor and look a lot closer at mitt romney. he tears down many to build one! don’t look at his fortune thinking it will be ours (usa). home depot, now, they will be more profitable with full time knocked down to part time. saving employee benifits. PROFIT!! create more jobs! yea, gotta hire more to cover store hours. those ‘ole employees gotta go get 2nd jobs! oops! just created even more jobs!!! RETHINK ROMNEY FOR V.P. ,PLEASE!

Comment by MC From New York

McCain will lose in November no matter who he picks as VP. Unless the Democrats are stupid enough to not put together their “Dream Ticket/Team,” McCain will get destroyed. McCain can only hope the Democrats self-destruct or for something terrible to happen to our national security.

Having said that, Mike Huckabee is the only person who can save McCain from a total landslide loss. Huckabee can get his grassroots base to help out. However, Huckabee supporters will not be helping McCain out, but rather, helping Huckabee not get embarrassed with McCain, getting dragged down with the “Double-Talk Express.” There will be no enthusiasm for McCain come this September - November.

Comment by Joy

When I see the McCain/Huckabee ticket, then I’ll possibly consider voting for McCain. Otherwise, as a social conservative Republican, I can’t “stomach” myself in voting for a Republican that acts like a Democrat! McCain needs Huckabee to “calm” him down. McCain has a highly-tempered personality and might get a heart attack, therefore, I want a VP that can “calmly” take-over the office of Presidency.

Of course, if that doesn’t happen, then I’ll have to pray for our country as it “suffers its consequences” for the next 4 years, until Huckabee can be President in 2012.

Comment by Amy

I wanted to add to my earlier comment…

if Mike became VP, then we could truly say that a vote for McCain was really a vote for HUCKABEE.

Comment by Amy

Mike Huckabee would make an excellent Vice President. Even after he has suspended his campaign, he has an army that is still backing him, still on fire to accomplish the very principles that Mike Huckabee has been bringing to the people. Mike Huckabee is the only person that I know of that can unite the true conservative party with the so called true conservatives, moderates, and liberal Republicans. If McCain wants to win, he needs to ask Mike Huckabee to be his VP. Then, I might vote for him.

Comment by McMurphy

WoW! I just wanted a date with Jamie Colby and this place went political!

Comment by Jim

I think Mike Huckabee or J.C. Watts would be McCain’s best options. Either would excite the social conservative base, but neither are so far to the right as to risk turning off McCain’s moderate supporters. (Remember, Huckabee’s GOP opponents mostly attacked him as being “too liberal”! )

Comment by Pat Ervasti

People who say that they have to have Mike Huckabee as VP or they won’t vote for John McCain remind me of children who “take their marbles and go home” when the game doesn’t go their way. Granted Mr. Huckabee is a man of charcter and a very decent human being; he would bring decency to his office.
Although I disagree and do NOT want Mr. Obama as president; he does have CHARISMA by the bucketful. I can understand why people want to vote for him, especially if their choice is him or Hillary.
I would like Mr. McCain pick someone with intelligence, integrity and charisma.

Comment by Katie

Mike Huckabee is the ONLY choice John McCain has if he wants to win in November, it’s just that simple! IF McCAIN CHOOSES ROMNEY, A GOOD 30% OF THE GOP WILL CERTAINLY PROTEST VOTE FOR HUCKABEE AS A WRITE-IN BECAUSE THEY CAN’T STAND PHONY ROMNEY!!!
30-40% of Republicans PASSIONATELY support Mike Huckabee and hope for good change in our nation and won’t be energized to help McCain win or even vote for him in November unless Mike Huckabee is on the ticket. Also, thousands of Independents and Democrats are responding well to conservatism because of Mike Huckabee and we won’t just vote for whoever the GOP candidate is because we don’t swear allegiance to the GOP. We like what Huckabee says about restoring freedom and we like how he talks about Pro-Life issues as being Pro-humanity issues as well. A good 40+% of the American electorate appreciates Huckabee’s freshness, and that is something old McCain DESPERATELY needs.
Romney is too rich for my blood, too plastic for my money, and too pandering for my vote. Anyone else is someone I’ve never heard of before and don’t care to learn about, with the exception of Condeleeza who would bring to much Iraq into one ticket.
McCain needs someone who can balance him out. Huckabee’s record of 94 tax cuts (the greatest cuts on a broad-based scale ever accomplished in Arkansas history) despite a 90% democrat-controlled congress, turning a $200+ million deficit into a $850 million surplus, his improving education from 49th in the nation to 8th in the nation, etc. is one heck of a record that would balance McCain’s ticket immensely.

HUCKABEE IS THE ONLY CHOICE.

McCain/Romney? Can you say,

“ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ?!

Comment by Debbie

MIKE HUCKABEE!!!!! He won 38% of the Republican GOP vote!! If Ron Paul had not been on the ballot, I think Huckabee would have won in Texas!! MANY Huckabee supporters are saying they will NOT vote for McCain in November UNLESS Huckabee is on the ballot with him for VP.
Former Congressman, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC TV, has thoroughly examined Huckabee’s record as Governor of Arkansas. Mike is young and knows how to run a government (two terms as governor)…took care of the mess left by Clinton! HUCKABEE is an EXCELLENT speaker and debater! HUCKABEE for VP. Huckabee set the tone for this year’s race with his “vertical politics.” Huckabee is the only one who will be able to keep McCain’s temper in check. McCain just puts me to sleep. LOVE Mike’s humor.

The majority of comments seem to be Romney or Huckabee. I agree that McCain is a four year term, but Romney and Huckabee votes below their expectations.

I urge all of you to look at Michael Steele, former LT. Governor of Maryland. Well eductated, well spoken, conservative on all issues and well versed in domestic issues……a 49 year old Black man. He is awesome and has a way of speaking to the issues in a plain spoken manner, a wonderful complement to Mccain’s straight talk!!!

True National Primary Election Needed
Why the media and every American of voting age are not absolutely enraged (as I am) that the presidential candidates that are to be
placed on the November general election ballot will be chosen by a staggeringly small number of people is beyond my understanding. Most of the good candidates
have already been forced to drop out of this "choreographed attrition process" that is mislabeled as a primary election. A handful of voters in
Iowa, New Hampshire, Delaware and South Carolina cast their votes many weeks ago, cutting the list of candidates to less than half. The two major
political parties have kidnapped the presidential primary process from the control of the Electorate of the United States (That’s us, We the
People).
Currently, states are penalized by the Democrat or Republican parties (by stripping them of their convention delegates as the Democrat Party
did this year to the state of Florida) if they dare move their own primary dates from those dates strictly dictated by the parties. Who in the heck do they think
they are?!?!
The overwhelming majority of American voters are denied
the opportunity to cast their (meaningful) vote for the candidate of their
choice due to their home state’s primary election date being held well after the
field of candidates is reduced to one (or sometimes two). Case in point:
Kentuckians will not have the opportunity to cast a ballot for their choice
until May 20. Folks, that is 138 days after the forced attrition process has
begun, eliminating any real prospect of having a voice in this (so called)
primary election. Is it no wonder that so many Americans are disheartened and
frustrated with the lack of qualified candidates from which to choose?
The one true answer to this dilemma is for all 50
states (and voting territories) to vote on one single national primary
election day
. No one, especially a few political party bosses,
should have the right to systematically deny so many Americans their
constitutionally guaranteed right to choose their own leaders. Please contact
your senators and congressmen. Contact your state legislators. Tell them to take
action necessary to create our national election day, giving us all some real
choices. A Web site with links to our current temporary leaders is at http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

Hey Jamie, McCain/Romney ticket,
McCain will be talking about the war on terrorism, Romney talking about how to get the economy going, and how he will create more jobs, and about the border security, and McCain, could start talking about who he will bring in to his administration, like Huckabee, Giuliani, Thompson, Powell, just a few names that we been talking about for over a year now, and we know everything about them, and we like them all, and I think they would make a very good team, what do you guys think,
will it work?

John mc Cain will not win without Mike Huckabee. He cannot win with Romney. There is no change or hope without Huckabee

I would prefer Mr. Huckabee or a Social Conservative over Mr. Romney to be the VP.

Saying Romney understands the economy is foolish! Just because he is wealthy does not make him an economist.

He spent over 100 million dollars on his dirty campaign and still lost, walking away in debt. His socialist health care plan in Mass. is failing and their state economy is broke as a result. They are not even offering it anymore! Good, no more tax payer funded abortions!

Has anyone seen how much he spent on each vote? How will he spend our tax dollars? Does he understand how to recover our economy, or just how to create personal wealth? I doubt he understands the economy of 75% of us who work for a living. He has no idea.

He is actually an advocate of the global economy that is the problem, not the solution. We are losing jobs and dollar value because Fair Trade is not Fair to the USA! It has to be reformed and he will not do it. His companies, Bain Capital, would lose billions.

I think since Mike Huckabee has more support from Republicans than any other runner besides McCain, and he can rally social conservatives who don’t like McCain, he should be the logical choice.

Huckabee ran a brilliant grassroots campaign on less than 9 million dollars and still got 30% of the vote. Compare how he spent his donor’s money compared to Romney. He is more fiscally conservative.

He also is one of the few good guys left in politics and can win the Baby Boomers, because they are sickened by the bitterness of politics these days.

Huckabee also supports the Fair Tax, which would get rid of the IRS. It would bring jobs back home to the USA, stimulate Wall Street’s American investments, strengthen the Dollar, save Social Security and Medicaid/Medicare, bring down inflation and boost the small business economy.
At the Florida debate, McCain asked Huckabee to explain the Fair Tax. He might actually support it over time.

Mike Huckabee is young and could be a great leader for the Republican Party for years to come. Giving him the experience of foreign policy and Washington would make him more well rounded and qualified in the future. He is a great speaker and motivator, and has more executive government experience than all of the presidential candidates (over 10 years). He would be a great investment for the GOP and could help McCain rally the Reagan Democrats back over one last time.

I say Huckabee!!!!

Hi Jaime,

I’m a big fan. I wish I could watch you in the prime time line up every day.

I think McCain should choose HUMA ABEDIN as his VP. Huma Abedin, as I’m sure you know, is Hillary Clinton’s constant companion. If Hill is on the Dem ticket and Huma has been recruited to the other side, it would be a devastating psychological blow. She would fold like a cheap suit.

As it stands now, Huma Abedin could become our de facto First Lady if Hillary is elected. To learn more about the fascinating Huma Abedin, please go to:

Hey Jamie:
i dont understand why MacCain is thinking so much about this topic… Mike Huckabee is the best choice for VP!!!! he has the vote of social republicans that MacCain doesnt have… we dont like him much and with Mike on his side he will win a lot of enthusiastic and loyal voters!!! because right now he is apealing to those moderate and liberal voters that when november comes they are voting democrat!! i know this for a fact, i’ve talked to a few of them… so the kind of voters that Mike Huckabee has on his side are very loyal and would stand by MacCain side regardless any media attacks if Mike is on the ticket with him… like someone in here said.. if not we are going to be voting Mike Huckabee anyways in november so.. i leave you with this thought..
i want to ask a little respect from some posters here… dont use call naming please “religious bigot” is very rude on your part and nobody here is being agressive towards anybody we are only sharing our opinions so please a little respect from you would be nice..
about Rice, Guliani and all of them … they are pro-choice and i agree they would lose the vote of social conservatives and true religious voters!!! so i dont think that would be a smart move from MacCain..!

Romney would never accept the position! He has stated numerous times that McCain is a ‘liberal!’ There is no way Romney would alter his moral standing for political expediency!

Romney is a man who has stood firm in his beliefs throughout his adult life and would never even consider sharing the ticket with someone who would taint him!!!

Romney saved the Olympics! Cried when the blacks were accepted by his church! Marched with the Martin Luther King! Don’t even insult his supporters with this drab!!!!

ROMNEY ROMNEY 2008!!!!!! Come on friends it’s not to late!!!
ROMNEY ROMNEY HE’S OUR MAN, IF HE CAN’T DO IT, NOBODY CAN!!!

GO Romney!!!!!
