Could You Pass the Test to Become a U.S. Citizen? Try it Out!

The Dallas bureau is working on a story about the process it takes to become a U.S. citizen. One of the most interesting parts of the story for me was learning about the naturalization test that applicants must take.

Think you could pass? Here are a few of the questions to test yourself:

1. Name two senators from your state.
2. How many voting members are in the House of Representatives?
3. Who becomes president if the president and vice president die?
4. What were the original 13 states?
5. What was the 49th state added to our Union?
6. Who was the main writer of the Declaration of Independence?
7. Who wrote the Star Spangled Banner?
8. How many times may a senator or congressman be re-elected?
9. Name one of the purpose of the United Nations.
10. What is the most important right granted to United States citizens?

I hate to admit it, but as an American citizen, veteran, and taxpayer, I cannot understand one of the questions. What has knowing the purpose of the United Nations got to do with being worthy of U.S. citizenship? I understand that there is some historical importance to the U.N., but that is world history, not American history. I served a term of enlistment with the U.S. Air Force, not the U.N. Peacekeepers.

Did this question come from the Immigration and Naturalization Service? Or does someone at Fox News equate UN with US? Please help me clear up this confusion. Thank you.

Those are all great questions but, that has no merit when we are not forcing people to learn English.

The only people that really have to deal with this kind of crap are service men and women like myself who marry a foreign spouse and actually have to pay rediculous amounts of cash to our government to get our spouse’s paperwork even rolling.

It really is pathetic, I bet I see a spanish version of that soon, because our politicians are too scared they might hurt someones feelings!!!
