EVERYBODY’S WATCHING
We haven’t posted a political thread in a while and as you know, I cannot comment on this one…so it is all yours. According to multiple studies, the 2008 election and campaigns are being more widely covered by the media than in any other election in U.S. history. Whether on TV, Radio or here on the web, people have been consumed with the process. There are so many reasons for this interest, which also extends around the globe. While in Guyana, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England….all in recent months…the newspapers, radio and televisions have all focused on our election. This one is a doozy. The Hoover Institution has posted some interesting opinions and articles on this…check out that site here.

Adam
What a way to get out of talking to us-posting a political thread - tee hee
Hope you are catching up on your rest after all of your travels
The link just takes us back to this blog not to the hoover institute’s page.
Adam
Site will not pull up - can you help???
Max - thanks - thought maybe it was just me and my puter
OT - Everytime we watch Jamie Oliver and his cooking program we think of you. Do you watch him, does he live by you, and do you like his cooking??? Just curious
KC: i haven’t watched his shows. I’ll look up what he likes to cook as soon as i’ve finished cooking my meal for tonight
Is it just me or does GRETA on Gretawire show mucho love and compassion for Barak Hussien Obama?
Thanks Adam - site all fixed and oh so very interesting
KC: I like this one he posted on his site: http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/meat/using_the_whole_chicken
But i’m into fried foods, and there wasn’t too much on there that was fried. The beef dishes looked good, especially the slow-cooked balsamic beef.
Avi, I think Greta is more pro- Clinton than Obama. But, she may be jumping on the Obama bandwagon.
She was fairly critical of the Rev. Wright issue.
I do think Greta leans left - as she once stated her husband was working the Kerry / Edwards campaign.
AVI..i havent watched “Greta Inquirer” for a long time…but i always thought she was doing that with the clintons!
Greta does seem to favor the Clintons– however, she is covering McCain’s story now–
PHEW– The Iraq thread is full of LDG and me– quite interesting too the links he posted-
If I were to have it my way- I would have Adam and LDG running this country– (seriously)
Hi Adam!! I have had my lessons for today over at Shaffer’s thread- #7-
xxx
I dunno theres always Obama obama obama stuff on her blog……. polls and what not …… could be to make clinton look better or what note but its simply 2 MUCH OBAMA
and remember a few months back you couldnt write ” Obama” on her blog it was censored now it is not ….. =/
Ok i wont bash greta anymore … lol…..
Avi–
you are a sweetie-
its Lecondel

_____________________________________________________________
still waiting for your week-end pictures– maybe when I come back later there will be pictures?
have a good day all!
Avi–
sweetie meaning- the new word for the day-
and for sharing with us!
btw K2…you are never obnoxious!!
You are smart at politics! I for one appreciate your knowledge (i can even handle the obnoxious if/when needed). *L*
Susan,
there is no pics it wasnt a photo op trip just a bunch of us hanging out and plus i couldnt take pics the kids were religous ( not haredi) just observe shabbot and so non electricty devices lol
and i didnt need pics got pics from camp already lol
I haven’t read this yet yet, but,
I would imagine they are commenting on the fact that a woman and a black man are in the race -so coverage on this election has been more than ‘typical’. Our interest is at a higher level due to this and also the fact that we are in Iraq.
I know those are two reasons that I have been more in tuned in than usual.
I also think what we hear the most of is who not to vote for and why…instead of any positives about anybody.
It’s all one big fight of who is worse. I’m actually kind of getting sick of it all!
I love Fox, but I really should tune into some other news to actually hear what they are saying for myself.
I’ll read this article after dinner….Max made me hungry talking about fried foods. lol
Jen S: try frying some lose corn in a little butter with some paprika, and if you like some peppers.
mmmm, it’s so good.

Obama’s Dimestore ‘Mein Kampf’
By Ann Coulter
A critical look at B. Hussein Obama’s autobiography, “Dreams From My Father.” And how the book shows that the reason Barrak didn’t complain about Wright’s sermons was that he agreed with them.
Max…add to that corn some sliced potatoes and onions
Thats pretty much why i’ve quit watching, I do watch the local news, but other than that, i shut it off. You can only bash 2-3 people for so long before you start sounding like “one of them”.
Wow, that was great Jen, and i agree, never anything positive.
Funny…they all said along time ago, they werent going to let this election do this to them. I have to wonder if they have looked in the mirror lately, because it HAS happened!
I think it’s because they’ve run out of reasons why they should be president, so now that they are the only possible nominies they have to start saying why the other person shouldn’t be president.
I was worried a little while ago and I am still disappointed Romney dropped out, but I am going to get behind McCain, just because the alternative is too far left for me, no matter which way it falls.
I am enjoying watching the Dems self destruct, it was funny really, I think Obama coined the term “change” first, then Hilary jumped on the band wagon and said she wanted more change, then Obama countered he wanted better change, then Hilary sad she would change the fastest….I have no idea what the next “one-upping” will be, but I have a feeling it is going to involve Obama changing clothes right on stage and saying he can change at a moments notice, then Hilary walking center stage, hiking up her skirt and showing that she has had a sex change.
oooooooooooh its gonna be fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun
I can tell you this, they have both brought about enough change to ensure their demise, after Hilary’s account of the low crawl through enemy fire in the trenches of Europe, people are reminded of the unchanging Clinton quality (lies) and after Obama’s pastor, mentor and friend of 20 years, announced that he hates white people, you have all of the middle class white people in the midwestern united states changing their locks.
If Democrats weren’t so unkept and stinky, I would even adopt one as a pet.
Yep - all negative - all the time. Sadly, it has been shown that negative ads work! Go figure. We all want to know what they are going to do for the country, but when push comes to shove, the negative ads have more weight.
I must admit, though, that I get enjoyment from watching the Train Wreck Party (formerly known as the Democratic Party). I just hope they keep at each other for as long as possible. McCain needs all the independent votes he can get!
K2-
Sorry I am negative towards the Dem’s I just have a hard time seeing any value in their party, Republicans are at least halfway sane.
I hope the Dems take it to the convention
Also i’d like Mitt Romney to be the VP nominee, as that’d at least give him a good way to dropping the V after McCain leaves.
Derek - no reason to be sorry. The Dems are the best entertainment out there lately!
And all the Dems say they are going to do would cost us all of our paychecks…… maybe they would leave us with the loose change.
Oh, maybe that is what they mean by change>/b>……. the pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters is all we can keep!
(I wish Romney was still around too. McCain is just barely a Republican - but, all we have right now)
Max - agree - having the Dems take it all the way to the convention is good for the Republicans.
they keep attacking each other…….Perfect!
I would like Romney as VP. Just don’t know who McCain is going to go with. He has been ‘courting’ my states Governor, Tim Pawlenty, for quite a while now.
the pundits say Minnesota is a swing state this time…….. I don’t see it that way, as it almost always votes Dem.
K2: I think Tim Pawlenty would be a bad move. If there are two moderates on the Republican Ticket conservatives will feel disinfranchised. He really needs someone who is popular among the right otherwise he could undo all the coming together of the party since super tuesday.
Max, I wonder how far right McCain will need to go. I see Romney as fairly moderate, which is a-ok with me.
I was not a Huckabee fan - so, I would not like to see him.
Max, have you heard of this guy?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,303782,00.html
I will have to go look for the article of his accomplishments.
You guys are right - watching Obummer and Hildebeast go at each other every day is like going to a funny farm and it is very interesting watching them destroy their own party.
We have been for McCain from the git go and have not changed our minds on that issue. I really believe he will let us keep our paychecks.
What is anyone’s thoughts on Huckabee for Vice President???
Max - found it…..
http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=12894
The article wants to see Jihdal as McCain’s VP. I am thinking better to let Jihdal accomplish more in Louisiana and then run on his own merit.
I would love romney for veep or I would take the governer of Alaska too, I forget her name, but she is awesome
K2: Problem is Bobby Jindal was only elected last year. He definately has a bright future, but i think now is too soon. He is pretty awesome though.
Newt Gingritch keeps going on about him.
I think Mitt is more of a rationalist than an idealogue, so he’s not as intense in his beliefs as some. But he would be good at cutting wasteful spending, especially within Beaurocracies.
Max, I agree. I would rather see him run on his own merit - in the future and not be tied to McCain.
KC - I was not a Huckabee fan. I think his ‘true colors’ were seen in his treatment of Romney.
First by saying that Jesus and Satan were considered brothers in Romney’s church - knowing that Romney was already under attack for no good reason.
Then, his attack ad that he made, then had a press conference to show the ad to the press and announce he would not run the ad - again, against Romney. Huckabee’s anger was so evident in the ad (yep, it was still seen by millions on the web).
be back in a minute
speaking of politics– here is a camel beauty contest- LOL
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,346168,00.html
And head over to Greta’s and check out the thread of Jane Fonda- she stopped payment on a check to Hillary– (Patty mentioned her in Venezuela)
Huckabee for VP? I like the man- just for his character, I guess–
Since politics and politicians are not my thing ( especially politicians ), I think I will call it an early weekend………….. I will leave you with my choice. A choice that was actually proposed at an earlier posting this week in this blog………The CSP ( Common Sense Party ).
See you in Hawaii………and let’s get layed.
Derek: Sarah Palin http://gov.state.ak.us/
Why is she so awesome in your opinion?
K2: If Bobby could turn Louisianna around he’d be able to use that to propel him anywhere he liked.
He’s not just talk, but a real agent of Change.
K2–
politics sure bring out the nasty side of people– reference about Huck– and yes- I forgot about the ugliness there with Romney– But you follow closely– I didn’t see the press conference about the ad-
changes things– I saw McCain push a reporter out of his way when in Israel and his face showed anger or disgust- He wasn’t too gracious about hiding it–
- (I see your point- as to character)
the whole politics on Hillary and Obama to me has been very racial– way too much and the wrong messages are being sent out to the people-
very dirty playing lately–
off to the bank before it closes on me!!!
Avi– ahh- too bad no pictures!
Susan: that camel contest is cute.
John
Before you get laid - aren’t ya going to vote this year???
K2 - You are right about Huckabee - I completely forgot about that incident. Thanks for the reminder. I can always count on your brains to keep my head on straight.
Derek - speaking of Presidents - how are those boys of yours???
Max Kon–
I thought so too– LOL
Be on the lookout next week for mail!
xxxxxxx
hugs to you if you are asleep when I come back in here!!!!
John-
if you click on Jen’s name, you will see Common Sense had been laid to rest!
Have fun this week-end!
xxx
Susan: I’m pretty sure the camal’s smell would have had to have been ignored
Max - I was thinking the same thing about the camels……. the smell!
Susan, we are going to bring Common Sense back to Washington - well, not exactly Washington, we are going to legislate out of Hawaii……. We can email Washington!
the next new and strong political party of the USA - The Common Sense Party!
Adam:
Just thought you might add Buenos Aires, Argentina
and Chile, especially Santiago to your list. All the taxi drivers
asked us questions about our election. Most of them
said they were getting tired of hearing about it! I was
suprised they payed attention to our politics. These taxi
drivers could all speak english-so that may make a difference.
So according to this Hoover article Change in the media is the reason for the increased view of this campaign. (and of course everything else we see and hear about)
So, you’re part of the blame Adam - and you say you can’t comment here. LOL!
Derek- you gave me a good laugh.
I think a lot of news outlets are biased - and that’s how & why we pick our favorites to watch or read. Like I said I love Fox. –It’s just so hard to watch or listen to some of the others anymore.
Hi Adam’s Mom
It sounds like you took quite a trip. When did you go to all of those places??? Does Adam get the traveling and adventure from you??
Glad to see you are still hanging with us and note - you picked up really fast on this blogging stuff. It took me a lot longer and I am still not good at it.
When is your busiest time at the winery??
I don’t want to see a dem in the white house - and these two dem candidates seem to be the worst; yet climbing in the polls?
Global warming is a problem indeed!! - the World seems to be Warming up to these two ; we definitely have a problem.
Looking for positive —> God Bless the USA!
Jen - too funny “warming up to these two”. So true. I guess I am too biased to see the attraction!
I can’t afford either one of the dems…… not monetarily or emotionally!
It is just not good when i yell at the TV when they are on!
most israels only know about Clinton and Obama ( they call him ha ” Koshi” meaning black) and clinton as clinton
McCain — isnt quite known

Is it just me or does GRETA on Gretawire show mucho love and compassion for Barak Hussien Obama?
*********************************************************
No way AVI..
I think the opposite…. Greta seems to get ripped on b/c she doesn’t discuss Hillary mis steps… but she does talk about Obama…
Now, CNN and all the other networks are in love w/ the Pied Piper, I mean BO.
Actually, CNN is so annoying…
yesterday they hardly mentioned McCain.. they made is seem like the race for the Presidency is only between BO and HC.
I need to change what I said…
Greta doesn’t really talk about Obama himself … but she brings Wright … and asks questions that make you think about Obama and if he’s qualified….
I hope that makes sense..
Jen: good one. But the mainstream media is behind the Democrats here too. Infact some members of the Conservative party here say that if they were in America they’d be Democrats.
So it’s pretty difficult to find out anything good about the Republicans, it was only when I started watching fox news that i found out anything good about the GOP, and found out that they stood for what i believed in already.
g’morning All…
We were always Huck fans, and still are. Very disappointed that he is not a choice.
That being said, we’ve rolled to McCain, out of necessity.
I never did like Romney, and I’m not sure i can explain why, the guy just doesnt set well with me.
I refuse to have any connections with the Dem (train wreck) this time around.
For years I was registered Dem (because i was told that’s what i was!)…and switched because of a local election. Sure glad we’ve stayed on the more “sane” side!
If i were a dem…i’d be so imbarrased at what the party is doing. But since i’m not, I’ll just sit back as watch the circus side show!
I do think that the America we love is in serious trouble, in so many ways that I’m not sure anyone can piece it back together. Our morals have been destroyed at the core, and when that happens, nothing will “fit” right and bandaids won’t heal the wounds.
*shaking head*…now that i’ve depreessed myself…im going to go wash the office windows!
I’ll join the CSP if it means the government will be back in the hands of the states and we can eliminate all the “committees” and various federal agencies that WASTE our tax dollars. Oh yea and the big one….the IRS!
Seems like McCain has learned the art of flip flopping……

max,
she is a hard line conservative and walks the talk, she is for drilling in the alaska range, she is pro-life, fiscally conservative, fights pork and is all around well balanced.
She doesn’t fold under pressure either
KC-
the boys are great and growing fast, my 3 year old loves to ride my motorcycle so on the weekends we can be found doing 10mph laps around our apartment complex, he just grins, holds onto his helmet and waves at everybody.
My oldest dressed up as cat in the hat today and I was unable to locate any store that carried the famous hat and it was too short notice to order online, so Dad ended up making him a paper cat in the hat hat, and he loved it, thought it was the coolest thing ever, he wore my military dress white gloves and black sweats and he looked great.
The middle boy is my star wars addict, he loves to play so we will be unlocking new guys on lego star wars this weekend.
The wife just tolerates me
I found this little political quiz to see which party is more in line with your views….
http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html
this is too funny- USA Today
BOSTON — This could make for one odd family reunion: Barack Obama is a distant cousin of actor Brad Pitt, and Hillary Rodham Clinton is related to Pitt’s girlfriend, Angelina Jolie.
Researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society found some remarkable family connections for the three presidential candidates — Democratic rivals Obama and Clinton, and Republican John McCain.
Clinton, who is of French-Canadian descent on her mother’s side, is also a distant cousin of singers Madonna, Celine Dion and Alanis Morissette. Obama, the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya, can call six U.S. presidents, including George W. Bush, his cousins. McCain is a sixth cousin of first lady Laura Bush.
Genealogist Christopher Child said that while the candidates often focus on pointing out differences between them, their ancestry shows they are more alike than they think.
“It shows that lots of different people can be related, people you wouldn’t necessarily expect,” Child said.
“His kinships are across the political spectrum,” Child said.
Child has spent the last three years tracing the candidates’ genealogy, along with senior research scholar Gary Boyd Roberts, author of the 1989 book, “Ancestors of American Presidents.”
Clinton’s distant cousins include beatnik author Jack Kerouac and Camilla Parker-Bowles, wife of Prince Charles of England.
McCain’s ancestry was more difficult to trace because records on his relatives were not as complete as records for the families of Obama and Clinton, Child said.
Obama and President Bush are 10th cousins, once removed, linked by Samuel Hinkley of Cape Cod, who died in 1662.
Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins, linked by Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769. Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, declined to comment on the senator’s ancestry.
Clinton and Jolie are ninth cousins, twice removed, both related to Jean Cusson who died in St. Sulpice, Quebec, in 1718.
The New England Historic Genealogical Society, founded in 1845, is the oldest and largest non-profit genealogical organization in the country.

K2–
I took the quiz- I am a Centrist– which is about right!
Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! I found the political thread!! I love when Adam does this!
OK, I need time to think about who I’m going to bash today. I’ll be back.
Anyone have info on Condi gunning for the Veep? I’m just catching bits and pieces of it.
Well I took that quiz and it said that I’m a Conservative and placed that stupid red dot to the far right. Whod-a-thunk it.
I got libertarian right. I got the red dot near the top by the right side of the diamond.
