Fergie Cartwheels During “Idol Gives Back”
Move over Syesha, Carly, and Kristy Lee – some much bigger names will be joining you on the American Idol stage Wednesday night!
Brad Pitt, Mariah Carey and Miley Cyrus step onstage for “Idol Gives Back,” airing 7:30-10pm on our sister network, FOX. The star-studded fundraiser will benefit several charities including Children’s Defense Fund, The Global Fund, Make It Right, Malaria No More, Save The Children, and the Children’s Health Fund.
Some parts of the special were already pre-taped earlier this week. At that taping, FOX News snagged great interviews with celebrity participants including Reese Witherspoon, Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Fergie. Tune in to Fox News all day Wednesday to see our celebrity scoop from these A-listers and many more.
Last year’s ‘Idol Gives Back” event raised $76 million for charities in the U.S. and Africa. During Wednesday’s show, viewers can make donations via toll-free lines and the Internet.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll be sobbing halfway through the first emotionally moving video of impoverished children. Those ‘Idol’ producers sure know how to tug at the heartstrings. But they also know how to put on a show – and the evening will feature performances and appearances from the stars I’ve already mentioned, plus Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Jennifer Connolly, Elliott Yamin, Fantasia, Amy Adams, Bono, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, Heart and Gloria Estefan.
So, as we count down to the big event, we’d love to hear from you.
- Do you plan to tune in?
- Does the “Idol Gives Back” event inspire you to donate to this cause (or to help in other ways)?
- Which celebrities are you most excited to see?
- Of all the celebrities performance planned, which are you most excited to watch?

absolutely I will tune in, people helping other people, isn’t that what life is SUPPOSED to be about. God Bless all of them.
I can’t wait to see Elliott Yamin!
exciting lineup…looking forward to annie lennox, brad pitt, heart…and mostly seeing elliott yamin again.
I can’t wait for Wednesday night to come! I really think Billy Crystal is so funny, and I haven’t seen him in a while. He is one of my all time favorite comedians. Also, the chance to see Elliott Yamin, again will be SWEET! I really admire him as a person. But of course, it’s his gifted, one of kind voice that I Love! Yeah!
Goody gumdrops…..you guys will all be watching American Idol while important things are happening in the real world.
Bread and circuses.
BULL
To see Elliott is getting back big time. Idol Gives Back to us one of the truly great finds of any season. I am proud he is part of a campaign to give back on a much larger scale.
I’ll fast-forward past the starving children in the hope that Celine Dion will perform with a digitally resurrected Elvis, just like last year. (Can they digitally resurrect Charlton Heston, too? I miss him already.)
American Idol is doing a good thing and I will force myself to watch and I’ll probably donate as I did last year but the list of stars looks like a left wing socialist party who’s who. I know I shouldn’t see it that way because it is for charity but most of those people make me sick to my stomach. I would rather listen to all of the prior contestants sing than have to listen to most of the stars on your list.
But thanks American Idol for some great entertainment, my wife and I are avid listeners.
