Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean Captured in Mexico!

(AP) Cesar Laurean in handcuffs after his capture in Mexico.

BREAKING NEWS!
Friday, April 11

5:12 pm: We went to the town where Cesar was living for the past several weeks in San Juan de Viña, Municipio de Tacambaro, in the State of Michoacan, and we talked to several residents who knew him.

They said he lived in a house in the mountains, and would come down almost every day to the Internet cafe, he would sometimes work there for cash also.

As he walked down the hill he would talk to people along the way, saying hello and making small talk. But he mostly kept to himself. We went to the house where he lived. It was a two-room wooden house. It still had food, a notebook where he kept a diary of his daily exercises, and smashed cardboard boxes he used as a bed.

He also talked with Claudia Rauda Botello a 18 year-old-girl that talks regularly with  Cesar and he told her that his uncle sent him to live up in the mountains and he lived alone there.

4:21 pm: The Mexican Attorney General’s office tells FOX News that one of the Mexican ministries is currently holding a private hearing and interrogation of Cesar Laurean in Mexico City.

The hearing is still in session as of 3:30pm ET. The hearing is part of the normal process, but it’s happening much quicker than usual.

2:08 pm: I just spoke to our contacts in Mexico and got some new info.

First Jorge went to the village where Laurean was hiding out. According to many villagers, no one knew he was a fugitive. He was living at a small farm surrounded by Alvocado and fruit trees. The house on the property was small and he apparently had mostly been living alone.

According to villagers he told them his uncle had put him up at the small farm and had him also doing odd jobs in and around the big city of Morelia.

Laurean frequented a small Internet cafe and also was frequently visited by an older women the villagers assumed was his mother.

Inside the small farm house was a workout plan written in English on a piece of paper and posted on the wall. It said stuff like, Mondays push ups etc.

People in the small village, while suspicious, are very surprised this guy was wanted in the U.S … for murder.

11:30 pm: EXCLUSIVE INFO AND DETAILS: THIS INFO JUST IN FROM A PRODUCER I WORK WITH IN MEXICO … JORGE. HE WAS AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE.

Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean was arrested at approximately 7:00 pm in San Juan de Vina, Municipio de Tacambaro, in the State of Michoacan. Jorge took down this quote …

“Strong cooperation between Mexican and U.S. authorities increasingly ensures that those who commit crimes in either country will ultimately face capture and prosecution no matter where they might try to hide.” Also Jorge tells me that Laurean spoke very slowly, unnatural when asked questions. He was wearing jeans and a shirt and looked like he was in a bit of a trance.

MORE EXCLUSIVE DETAILS ABOUT THE CAPTURE:

He was just walking down the street at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night in a town outside of Morelia, Mexico. The area is called Tacambaro, and I am told by my contacts in the region that police officers were doing a routine inspection of a neighborhood. That’s where officers walk the beat and talk to people. When they approached Cesar Laurean and said hello and asked him a routine question or two, he didn’t respond.

That was suspicious, so they asked him again. This time he responded in English, which isn’t normal for a neighborhood not associated with tourism and he told them his name, the officers didn’t put two and two together at the time. However, they did take him into custody because suspicions were now obviously high and when they got him to the station, they matched the wanted picture on the wall. Laurean only had 10 pesos on him at the time of his arrest and he was eating an avocado. Mexican police say he is cooperating.

Laurean will be flown to Mexico City tonight where he will be handed over to the Mexico Attorney General’s Office and Eduardoo Medina-Mora. I had a conversation with Medina-Mora in Mexico City not long ago and he explained to me what would happen once a suspect was captured. Later during a phone conversation, the AG’s office never said IF he would be captured but WHEN.

The suspect will get his day in Mexican court, but I was assured that the process to extradite him would begin immediately. Medina-Mora and his staff have been in contact with U.S. authorities and have been monitoring this case since the beginning. We have received a number of tips that Laurean had found refuge in this part of Mexico and I was told that they Mexican investigators had felt the same all along. Apparently the suspect had been hiding in a rancho. No word on who owned the home.

Cesar Armando Laurean is wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of 20-year-old Maria Lauterbach, who was pregnant at the time of her murder. Lauterbach was a United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal assigned to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She had been missing since December 14, 2007. The charred remains of Lauterbach and her unborn baby were recovered in a shallow grave in the backyard of Laurean’s Jacksonville, North Carolina, residence.

A state arrest warrant was issued on January 12, 2008, in Onslow County, North Carolina, after Laurean was charged with murder. That same day, Laurean was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution by the United States District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina, Wilmington, North Carolina, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.

Women do not belong in the military. Women soldiers are nothing but a big tease to men who are already desperately missing their wives or girlfriends. Women should not be around men trying to win a battle because they are a major distraction. In addition to this tragedy, the fact that hundreds of U.S. women soldiers have alleged charges of rape by their own male peers is proof enough of what I am saying. Ladies, go be a school teacher; Let the men handle the men.

To moht1021. What a load of crap again blame the women, they had it coming. Men are quite capable of controlling their urges. If a man has to go out and rape and or kill a woman because they
are missing their wives or girlfriends and a fellow soldier happens to be a woman and its ALL THE WOMAN’s fault. Maybe the men should be the school teachers and let the women teach the war. Oh we can’t let that happen then the men will rape and kill the kids because their women are at war. Get a life and by your statement the men aren’t capable of anything, idiot

My husband is in the military, and we disagree on the fact of this young man being guilty or not. I believe he did do it to an extent, but in other ways I would have to find out what the whole entire story was. I can’t base my actual opinion on just what I hear in the news. My husband thinks that he is innocent, because he says that his wife could have killed her. Which, it is possible, but, we really probably will never know.

As for moht1021, I would have to disagree. Not all women are a tease to men. They stand beside the men in battle, and they are out there fighting just as hard as the men. In my opinion, women do their job just as well as men do. They put behind their families, their friends. I was at a marriage retreat with my husband a few months back, and I met a bunch of nice women who were serving in the military. I wouldn’t go as far as calling you an idiot, but I would have to say that you should think things through. If a man has to rape, kill, and burn a young woman because of some unknown reason, or even if there were problems, then that means that there were probably problems before hand.

This young woman did nothing wrong in my opinion. She didn’t deserve to be murdered in cold blood. In another reference, she was with child. Eight months pregnant to be exact! That young child, a small being that has done nothing to anyone, was killed as well. That child’s life didn’t even begin. What is being left out was, who was the father? What are his thoughts on it? How is he feeling? I mean, what if the father wasn’t Cesar?

Plus, what is the military thinking? How are they handling all this? I mean, these two young folk are young, and yet, with something like this happening, it seems as though the Marines are getting a bad name pinned to them. A person will see this, and be like, “All Marine male soldiers are like this.” NEWS FLASH!!!! There is murder everywhere. It’s not just in the military. I believe that young lady did her duty to her country. It was something I could never do. It is something that she took a chance at, and did her best to full fill. I applaud her!

MAY she and her child, REST IN PEACE! May they know that the one thought of being their killer has been caught, and is in the process of being charged.

moht1021, you sound like you don’t have a very high opinion of men. If men are that pathetic, and have that little control of themselves, then they shoudln’t be in the military. Maybe those are soldiers that rape innocent people in other countries that they were to have protected. You sound like if you were in the military, you may be one of those guys. I hope you, or any of your offspring never enter the military.

A woman and her unborn child were brutally murdered, and that is the issue here. If this guy did it, I hope he pays for it.

I knew Cesar… at least I had met him on several occasions down at Camp Lejeune. It blows my mind thinking of if he could do such a thing. He was literally the nicest marine I ever met down there. His wife was a sweetheart. What a tragedy.

to moht1021: Maria chose to serve her country and in the toughest branch of the armed forces. It is true that we women who DO serve in the military continue to give people like you your right to freedom of speech, however I think that it is ludicrous and shameful that Americans like you still have those kind of views of women in the military. We go through the same training standards and perform just as equally as the men and have every right to be there. The fact that some of these men cannot control themselves, is their problem. NOT a problem of women in the military.

Comment by someone who actually knew Maria

I went to school with Maria starting in middle school. She was meant for the military. I couldn’t see her doing anything else. She was always in sports and didn’t care about school. Yes, she got good grades, but she’d rather be out playing soccer than doing algebra. It wasn’t like Maria couldn’t defend herself against a man, she definitely could, but being eight and half months pregnant is a different story. Maria got an award and was recognized at our senior awards program for joining the Marines. I believe women should be in the military if they so choose. Just like I believe it’s not required for a man to join. That is one’s personal choice to serve their country.

Rest in peace Maria, we all miss you.

moht1021: your post is very well spoken and very well appreciated by raving lunatics. I am a man, currently in the individual ready reserve. I served 10 years in the Marine Corps. Cpl Laurens actions are inexcusable. Her being a woman in the military has nothing to do with this case. You talk like she deserved to get raped for stepping up to fight and protect the very freedoms you abuse. And they weren’t at war neither on of them were deployed….. EVER! He took the life of a fellow Marine because he may or may have not raped her. Due to the fact that the young lady was buried in his back yard. I do believe he had something to hide or something he didn’t want her talking about. Its not like he has post traumatic stress syndrome. Back to the point. There are women who are serving in the armed forces right now and couldn’t be more proud of them. They stand tall while you hide behind internet blogs, they fight for your freedoms while you sleep at night just to wake up and slander them the next day. The guard the flag, our borders, and fellow servicemen and women while you try and make yourself look like a tough guy each day posting comments that only a raving lunatic would agree with. Seek help get a therapist, something, cause one day and It may be one day soon that you’ll be thanking a women who saved your life.

Joseph
