moht1021: your post is very well spoken and very well appreciated by raving lunatics. I am a man, currently in the individual ready reserve. I served 10 years in the Marine Corps. Cpl Laurens actions are inexcusable. Her being a woman in the military has nothing to do with this case. You talk like she deserved to get raped for stepping up to fight and protect the very freedoms you abuse. And they weren't at war neither on of them were deployed..... EVER! He took the life of a fellow Marine because he may or may have not raped her. Due to the fact that the young lady was buried in his back yard. I do believe he had something to hide or something he didn't want her talking about. Its not like he has post traumatic stress syndrome. Back to the point. There are women who are serving in the armed forces right now and couldn't be more proud of them. They stand tall while you hide behind internet blogs, they fight for your freedoms while you sleep at night just to wake up and slander them the next day. The guard the flag, our borders, and fellow servicemen and women while you try and make yourself look like a tough guy each day posting comments that only a raving lunatic would agree with. Seek help get a therapist, something, cause one day and It may be one day soon that you'll be thanking a women who saved your life.

I went to school with Maria starting in middle school. She was meant for the military. I couldn't see her doing anything else. She was always in sports and didn't care about school. Yes, she got good grades, but she'd rather be out playing soccer than doing algebra. It wasn't like Maria couldn't defend herself against a man, she definitely could, but being eight and half months pregnant is a different story. Maria got an award and was recognized at our senior awards program for joining the Marines. I believe women should be in the military if they so choose. Just like I believe it's not required for a man to join. That is one's personal choice to serve their country.

Rest in peace Maria, we all miss you.

to moht1021: Maria chose to serve her country and in the toughest branch of the armed forces. It is true that we women who DO serve in the military continue to give people like you your right to freedom of speech, however I think that it is ludicrous and shameful that Americans like you still have those kind of views of women in the military. We go through the same training standards and perform just as equally as the men and have every right to be there. The fact that some of these men cannot control themselves, is their problem. NOT a problem of women in the military.

I knew Cesar... at least I had met him on several occasions down at Camp Lejeune. It blows my mind thinking of if he could do such a thing. He was literally the nicest marine I ever met down there. His wife was a sweetheart. What a tragedy.

moht1021, you sound like you don't have a very high opinion of men. If men are that pathetic, and have that little control of themselves, then they shoudln't be in the military. Maybe those are soldiers that rape innocent people in other countries that they were to have protected. You sound like if you were in the military, you may be one of those guys. I hope you, or any of your offspring never enter the military.

A woman and her unborn child were brutally murdered, and that is the issue here. If this guy did it, I hope he pays for it.

My husband is in the military, and we disagree on the fact of this young man being guilty or not. I believe he did do it to an extent, but in other ways I would have to find out what the whole entire story was. I can't base my actual opinion on just what I hear in the news. My husband thinks that he is innocent, because he says that his wife could have killed her. Which, it is possible, but, we really probably will never know.

As for moht1021, I would have to disagree. Not all women are a tease to men. They stand beside the men in battle, and they are out there fighting just as hard as the men. In my opinion, women do their job just as well as men do. They put behind their families, their friends. I was at a marriage retreat with my husband a few months back, and I met a bunch of nice women who were serving in the military. I wouldn't go as far as calling you an idiot, but I would have to say that you should think things through. If a man has to rape, kill, and burn a young woman because of some unknown reason, or even if there were problems, then that means that there were probably problems before hand.

This young woman did nothing wrong in my opinion. She didn't deserve to be murdered in cold blood. In another reference, she was with child. Eight months pregnant to be exact! That young child, a small being that has done nothing to anyone, was killed as well. That child's life didn't even begin. What is being left out was, who was the father? What are his thoughts on it? How is he feeling? I mean, what if the father wasn't Cesar?

Plus, what is the military thinking? How are they handling all this? I mean, these two young folk are young, and yet, with something like this happening, it seems as though the Marines are getting a bad name pinned to them. A person will see this, and be like, "All Marine male soldiers are like this." NEWS FLASH!!!! There is murder everywhere. It's not just in the military. I believe that young lady did her duty to her country. It was something I could never do. It is something that she took a chance at, and did her best to full fill. I applaud her!

MAY she and her child, REST IN PEACE! May they know that the one thought of being their killer has been caught, and is in the process of being charged.

To moht1021. What a load of crap again blame the women, they had it coming. Men are quite capable of controlling their urges. If a man has to go out and rape and or kill a woman because they
are missing their wives or girlfriends and a fellow soldier happens to be a woman and its ALL THE WOMAN's fault. Maybe the men should be the school teachers and let the women teach the war. Oh we can't let that happen then the men will rape and kill the kids because their women are at war. Get a life and by your statement the men aren't capable of anything, idiot

Women do not belong in the military. Women soldiers are nothing but a big tease to men who are already desperately missing their wives or girlfriends. Women should not be around men trying to win a battle because they are a major distraction. In addition to this tragedy, the fact that hundreds of U.S. women soldiers have alleged charges of rape by their own male peers is proof enough of what I am saying. Ladies, go be a school teacher; Let the men handle the men.
