Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?
Osama Bin Laden has had a target on his back since the 9/11 attacks. Now Hollywood is taking aim.
Director Morgan Spurlock (known for his fast food documentary “Supersize Me”) asks audiences to join him in determining, “Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?” Spurlock sat down with me this week to answer that question and many more. Here’s part of my interview you won’t get anywhere else!
FOX News: Why take on this project?
Spurlock: It’s been 6 years, 7 years now since 9/11. In 2005 he had just released a new tape and newscasters were asking ‘Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?’ And I thought, that’s a good question. Let’s find out, let’s go on this trip. And about 2 months into making this film, we were in preproduction, I found out my wife, Alex, was pregnant. At that point the whole film shifted in a real personal direction for me because it wasn’t about ‘where’s Osama, what creates Osama?’, but ‘What kind of world is this to bring a kid into?”
FOX News: In your film, you talked to many people in the Middle East who say they like the American people, but don’t like our nation’s foreign policies.
Spurlock: We talked about the war on terror, and the war on terror’s been a success on some level because there has not been another attack on the U.S. and that’s great. That’s a positive thing. But on the other hand what we’ve lost is the PR war on terror. Outside of the U.S. people don’t admire the U.S. anymore, we’re not up on a pedestal as we once were. They see the U.S. as aggressors, they see the U.S. as a country that doesn’t have anyone’s best interest in mind, that wants to dominate, that wants to take their resources. One guy says in the movie ‘the U.S. wants to eradicate the religion of Islam.’ I think that the next President, whoever that may be, needs to come in and really address this so we can go back to being the America that I believe we should be, that I believe we are.
FOX News: How close did you get to finding Bin Laden?
Spurlock: I didn’t get the $25 million big reward check. But I think we actually got pretty close. Here we are in Pakistan, and everybody’s pointing toward the tribal area saying ‘there he is’… My wife is weeks away from having a baby. We’re hearing gunshots right on the other side of the border and it’s a moment of truth: Are we going to go in? We made the right decision I think, ‘this is too far, lets go home.’ At that point I think we were 50-75 miles away from where people said he was or where they thought he was.”
FOX News: You left your pregnant wife at home while you went to some extremely dangerous places. She must be pretty patient.
Spurlock: “Patient, a saint, she should get the sash of ‘Best Wife Ever’ award every year.”

I loved Super-Size Me, when he ate McDonalds for a month and gained like 30 pounds… wonder what he’ll put himself through to find Bin Laden?
