Papal arrival at St. Joseph’s Seminary
What a thrill it is to be on the grounds of St. Joseph’s Seminary watching Pope Benedict arrive to the screams of over 25,000 young people. They are waiving their yellow and white scarves in the air in circles, creating a sea of spinning Papal flag colors to welcome the Holy Father.
This feels familiar. Screaming fans … the buildup to the “main event” … it has felt like a rock concert all day, and it has been with over a dozen acts performing for the crowd. A rapping priest, former American Idol star Kelly Clarkson and synchronized dancers have been delighting the masses, but now that the pope is here and on stage … it’s all about the message he brings.
The pope addressed 50 disabled youths and their caretakers before he made his grand entrance via Popemobile — We have heard from the other side of the seminary, that many of the parents on hand were moved to tears. We have amazing team coverage of this historic event
As you’ve been reading here on the blogs… Father Jonathan Morris is here, along with our FOX News Correspondent Lauren Green.
I am mostly behind the scenes here providing color of the event, and am listening to their ongoing analysis and am positively riveted to their words.
This is one memorable moment. I had our Coordinating Producer Melanie Schuman take a picture of us while we were all waiting for the Pope’s arrival… more to come
Update!
The Pope just started speaking… here’s a quick clip..

Wow such a tremendously inspiring speech Holy Father. Thank you so very much and may God bless you
My husband and I just want to thank you for your suberb coverage of the Pope’s visit. You are my husband’s channel of choice ( and mine also). Thank you so much, we really appreciate it. We also appreciate Neil Cavuto, Shepard Smith, Bill O’Reilly, and especially Sean Hannity.
Thanks again for the Pope’s coverage. You are the best!
Enjoyed your coverage tonight during the FOX Report!
Fox’s coverage of the papal visit has been the best. Thank you!! But as good as Mr. Maher is at singing the Lord’s praises, I think the faithful would much rather have heard the papal blessing. You goofed big time FOX.
The entire coverage of the Pope at St. Joseph’s Seminary was wonderful. The only criticism is that during the fomal program (the presentation of gifts by the six children at the beginning and the introduction of the 15 young people near the end) there was so much needless chater by the coverage team that you could not determine was being presented.
father jonathan morris (fox news corespondent that covered the pope) has a new book called “the promise” (www.harpercollins.com)also his web site is http://www.fatherjonathan.com the book is about how God can help you get through your tough storms in life.

I was sorry that some of your commentaters talked over the Pope. Especially Megan Kelly and Bill Hemmer. I know they meant well but it ruined it for me trying to hear his message.
I want to commend the entire FOX News Staff for the absolutely wonderful coverage of the Pope’s visit!!
Your comments were excellent! I could hear the respect for the Holy Father in them. You always reserved your comments for just the right time.
When I was flipping channels this evening I heard Lou Dobbsa AND his guests use the Holy Father’s name in the same sentence as Jeremiah Wright. What a disgrace!! Mr. Dobbs also said the Pope could do what the Romans do in Rome but had “bad manners” coming here and trying to tell us what to do. Did you hear that?? I didn’t.
The people of this country, Catholics and Non-Catholics alike, really needed Pope Benedict’s encouraging and uplifting words in these trying times. He is such a kind, heart-warming person….
Thanks again for the great coverage….
It is very touching, moving, and confirming that I am not the only college student that LOVES the Pope and LOVES my Catholic faith. I am ever more noticing that the youth in the Church is further embracing the FULLNESS of the Catholic faith as well as the much older “pre-Vatican II” grandparents. It is beautiful to see our Shepherd the young lambs of the Church with the much quoted “soft voice and a big stick”. The gentleness of the shepherd brings the sheep to him, yet defends his flock not only from the tangible wolves of those who hate not only Catholicism and true freedom, but also that of the evil from “relativism”.
Our Holy Father is truly one who leads us to Christ who then leads us to the Father. I pray that you felt this today in Yonkers and continue to feel this love throughout your life.
God’s blessings,
Mike

FNC, thank you or your excellent coverage of the Pope’s visit to America. You have helped make it personal for us, and American’s need the spiritual strength it has provided right now.
Why do the fox news people have to talk during the coverage of mass? Shepherd Smith said he would not interupt yet he keeps doing it. They did it the other day during Placido Domingo’s beautiful song.
What a beautiful visit by the Holy Father. FNS did an excellent Job. Congratulations to Fr. Jonathan, Lauren, Greg, Laura, Bill and Meghan. His openess about the fallen priests was truly sincere. Now I pray it will be time for healing.
Thank you for the wonderful coverage of the visit of the Holy Father. Iam not Catholic, but it is a great blessing after all the months of politics.
My wife and I would like to thank you guys at FNC for the excellent coverage of Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the U.S. We love y’all.
Fr. Morris direct translation to Spanish during the part of Pope’s Homili in Spanish is really amazing. My wife just wonder, was that a reading from a predistributed text of the Homili or that was really Fr. Morris’s direct translation?
All right already! Fox News, I was greatly upset that you pre-empted my favorite shows (Cashing in, Forbes on Fox, et al) for some representative of just another of the thousands of religions. How could you? The Pope is irrelevant. It’s incredible that a network so in favor of capitalism is pandering to the Vatican, which historically has been for bigger government. How could you sell out just because he’s a social conservative. You know, you have to accept the whole package deal. With the “pro-life” you have much higher taxes and lynching of people who want to build wealth.
Fox News’s coverage of the Holy Father’s visit was OUTSTANDING. I loved every bit of it. Our Holy Father’s visit has made me proud (in a good way) again. Your reporters, even those not Catholic, were very respectful. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
Laura,
Thank you, Lauren and Father Jonathan Morris for the terrific coverage of the Pope’s visit to America. Fox news is the best. Love and Peace to you all always!
Excellent article. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Great coverage as usual. You are the best in the US.
I want to thank fox for the wonderful coverage of the Pope. All we ever get is the politcal lies of Obama and Hillary and the hate of people like that clerk in Iraque who believes in killing people as the answer to his religion.. The Pope showed real class and and uplifting attitude of love, rehabilitation and peace. Thank you Fox , we needed these three days of coverage of a really wonderful leader. This is a tue leader of the people. THANK YOU FOX ,
