Miley Cyrus Speaks Out On Scandalous Photos
Today I’m covering the Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair photos that have made worldwide headlines. Cyrus appears to be wrapped in a sheet – and not much else – in the photos. She is apologizing to her young fans for the layout.
See the photos yourself at the Vanity Fair Web site. Today I received a statement from Miley Cyrus, via her publicist Jill Fritzo, which said, in part:
“For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. The pictures of me on the internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect.”
Meantime Annie Liebowitz released a statement saying, “I’m sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted.”
Today, FOX News crews caught up with another young star who “grew up” on the Disney Channel: Hilary Duff.
Duff is promoting her film “War, Inc.” but took time to express concern for Cyrus. Duff tells FOX News that young stars have to be careful at all the time, because people will always try to “find the bad” in what they do.
I’ll be reporting on the Cyrus photos on Fox Report at 7:50pm, so tune in for more scoop.
In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you.
–Are you a Miley Cyrus fan?
–What do you think of the photos?
–Will this impact Cyrus’ career – and if so, will it help or hurt?
Who isn’t a Hannah Montana fan??
I am a fan, mostly because my niece absolutely loves her and her show. I think the photos make her look like she is considerably older and a tramp. She isn’t usually seen with as much make up on as she was in the photos. I don’t know if this will have much impact on her career as long as this was an isolated incident.
Miley may or may not be the victim of child abuse, but one thing is certain, blame is being aimed in the wrong direction. You can no more blame Vanity Fair and the famed photographer for the Hannah nation backlash than you can blame a V-8 engine for getting bad gas mileage. I know that Leibowitz and Vanity Fair are essentially adult content. How could Miley’s parents, publicists, managers, handlers not know? Of course they did. She admits to liking the photos just before publication. My guess is Miley is ready for the next part of her life - growing up. She’s tasted what it’s like to be a woman and she likes it. Good for her. Next lesson - taking responsibility. She and her people don’t like the feedback they’ve gotten from the concert ticket buying parents and want to deflect. Understandable. My kids will begin letting go of Hannah and Miley. Not because of sexy pictures, but because I will use her as an example of what poor character is.
I think her apology is way too late because she already knew before her shoot what kinda reaction it would get. Young people these days have very few people they actually look up to for guidance and as a roll model but this really speaks in volumes. I suggest that people ban EVERYTHING HANNAH MONTANA , and see what kinda reaction there is. 15 years old is way too young to start thinking bout havin practically a nude picture of yourself plastered all over the internet.
Miley who? Sounds like one more in a long line of wanna be child stars crying all the way to the bank. Her parents were present at the photo shoot. I can hear the conversation now…”Dear, don’t you think these are a bit inappropriate?” “Nah, after the controversy dies down, we’ll have more popularity than ever - just think of the money pouring in. Sure, we’ll have to be “shocked” for a bit, but it’ll soon blow over”. Child ’stars’ and their handlers/parents - bah!
After watching the CMA awards she hosted with her dad Billy Ray, I was appauled at the revealing dress she wore which showed of the breasts she has which is not much at 15 yearsold. Her Dad is not considering her as a young child and is pushing her as an adult. She is a hot with young people but she is really not a good singer and when she becomes older, I doubt she will have a career. She is not setting the example a young girl needs to imulate.
I don’t think those photos are anything to be embarassed about. She is a young lady going through the maturing process. The picture of she and her dad are almost like any photo that could happen between a father and a daughter or son while watching their favorite show and being as close to each other as they can be. The girl is growing up!
