Where/What in the World?

OK….a couple of things. First I went back through and made some comments and answered questions in previous posts. Second, I was on a plane and traveling much of today, so where am I am what am I doing for work? OH….I am sure looking forward to a few of your responses….imaginations can run wild on this blog. Also, Greta and a couple of others have suggested we change the name to adamwire….what do you think? Finally, what did you think about the O’Reilly interview last night with Hillary Clinton? On the ‘Caruso Brothers’ thread, one of their brothers in Italy posted in italian…go figure. Problem is….I don’t speak italian…can someone translate? A ton of questions…so have at it.

Yippee I am the first to post that means my guess can be outlandish! Like I need a reason! Adam you are doing an depth report somewhere in the USA, reason being you posted pretty quickly. So I am thinking you are these continental states. But where? I am going to guess that you are doing expose on biodesiel or something with alternative energy. It is going to be about cost of fuel vs the different way to produce energy. Yep you are in a biodiesel place. I am thinking of this guy in Houston but maybe not here in the great State of Texas.

I missed the O man and the Hill Bill one, I am sure he was cordial and she said something. Bill O is always cordial to invited guests.

Adamwire…maybe it could work. Cause let’s face it you are rarely “in the house”. You are on the road, on the hog, eating sushi and hopefully not all at the same time.

Adam, I left a translation for you.

Marie- Can you do this?

I am struggling here–

Wow Adam- translation doesn’t read right– so I am playing with the word now-

compliments, complimenti, non ho capito niente dell’intervista ma ho visto che la siete cavata molto bene.
I have not understood nothing of the interview I have seen you are very good-

Ho avuto modo di ammirare il vostro negozio, ordinato e pieno di vestiti. Translation:

I have had way to admire your store, tidy and full of dressed. (But I think he is either talking about his trying to keep his store tidy and in shape)

Vi ho trovato molto bene, mantenetevi sempre in forma..

I have found much good to you, mantenetevi always in shape. (I think he is trying to tell you he has tried to be of good service to you- keeping you in form– or maybe something liking keeping to the highest standards)

Abbracci , Alberto

Hugs, Alberto

Maybe Marie can do this–

I did leave him a note on the Caruso thread- Here is my post to him– LOL

Jen’s favorite spot, Lake Erie?

Adamwire? Why? I am with Patty- Housley in the House is original too–

I missed O’ but Jen watched him– I just turned the tele on and Brit is on- Next time he comes back on will be 2:00 a.m. and I don’t think I will stay up–

And I would have been the first to post if I hadn’t been dissecting Alberto’s message-

I thought Bill O did a good job w/ Hillary…
and I think Hillary was smart to do it.

I am anxious to see the interview tonight b/c it’s on immigration…

This will make your blood boil. I know it does mine. This is going on all while Americans are now being asked by some hospitals to pay upfront for non emergency care. (There was just a Wall Street Street Journal article in a L.V. newspaper.)

This Mexican illegal immigrant doesn’t understand the resentment??????

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxUs_ciRhBc

(CBS) It was 5 a.m. and CBS News national correspondent Byron Pitts is with a woman who is nine months pregnant. She’s rushed to a south Texas hospital to undergo a C-section - a $4,700 medical procedure that won’t cost her a dime. She qualifies for emergency Medicaid.

She gave birth to a healthy, 8 1/2 pound baby boy - born in America. His Mexican mother gave him an American name: Eliot.

Eliot is one of an estimated 300,000 children of illegal immigrants born in the United States every year, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. They’re given instant citizenship because they are born on U.S. soil, which makes it easier for their parents to become U.S. citizens.

That’s because those babies can eventually sponsor their parents - when they turn 21 years old.

As for Eliot’s mother, no longer as fearful of deportation, she told CBS News her name, Fabiola, and her story.

“So your son is an American citizen. What does that mean to you?” Pitts asked.

“I am very glad that he was born. That’s why I came here - so my children, my husband and I could have a better life,” she said through a translator.

Back in December, when she was six months pregnant, Fabiola, her husband and their two daughters - ages 4 and 11 - crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico into the U.S.

Once on the other side of the river they walked for two hours in search of a better life and free medical care for their unborn child.

“Do many women in Mexico make the choice to have their children in the United States?” Pitts asked.

“Yes,” she said through a translator. “I know people who have done that. Things are much better here in the U.S. because they help children so much more.”

It’s a “better” life … that American taxpayers help pay for.

Take healthcare for example — an estimated $1.1 billion per year for undocumented men, women and children, according to the Rand Corporation.

Joe Riley is the CEO of the McAllen Texas Medical Center near the Texas-Mexico border. Forty percent of the children born there, nearly 2,400 last year, were the babies of illegal immigrants.

Riley has seen and heard it all.

“Mothers about to give birth that walk up to the hospital still wet from swimming across the river in actual labor … dirty, wet, cold,” he said.

But here to have a child?

“Here to have a child in the U.S.,” he said.

McAllen is part of a large hospital system. Like all hospitals, it is mandated by law to treat all emergency-room patients, not verify citizenship.

“We have uncompensated care of over $200 million a year,” Riley said.

“Of money that you’ll never see again?” Pitts asked.

“Yes,” he said.

Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said: “It is not fair to the taxpayers who have to foot the bill.”

Congress has all but given up on comprehensive immigration reform. But lawmakers like Smith want to solve birth citizenship to illegal immigrants, in part by challenging the 14th Amendment, which guarantees U.S. citizenship to any child born in America.

“It seems fundamentally wrong that we ought to give the greatest honor of their citizenship,” Smith said. “His or her mother came across the border illegally.”

Many Americans who struggle to take care of their own families think it is unfair that they should take care of a family and they are not U.S. citizens.

“I don’t understand the resentment,” said. “I know that God will help them, too.”

That’s what Fabiola’s doing for young Eliot. Relying on her faith, her family … and the U.S. government.

“What am I doing for work?” since you didn’t say “What story am I covering” could that mean you aren’t doing a story? Maybe you are out on the road as a salesman for your vineyard…NY? Miami? ???

Maybe you are covering the flood stories in Maine.

Comment by FL Sunshine

Terri - URGH!!!!!!!!!! I am so mad about these stories. Too bad the hospitals are so close to the border. Of course I know the illegals would travel as far as needed to get to the hospital to have their babies. Not only are we footing the bill for the hospital stay but I’m sure there is the follow up care of both mom and baby PLUS all that the baby needs for his entire childhood. It’s a never ending welfare program!

I was able to admire your shop, orderly and full of clothes.
There I found very good, always keep in the form ..

So basically he is telling Emilio and Frank that he saw the video of them with Adam, but he didn’t understand it, (i presume the English) but he saw their store and he is impressed…

re The Other Bill and Hillary–
The best was Bill O was on Shep’s show–and talked about the interview first with him. You could tell he was pretty pumped that he got to do this interview and have her on Fox.

His interview with her was good, but I wanted him to quiz her more with some of her answers, but as he said, if he did, he probably wouldn’t have gotten to question #2. lol

He did press her on the Rev. Wright issue until he got her to answer ‘as an American’ which was excellent!

‘Adamwire’ sounds too bland. Gretawire works for Greta because, let’s face it, what the hell are you going to do with a name like Greta Van Susteren? Sista Susteren’s Stammerings?, or Greta’s Glee Club.?……No ,of course not. IMO, Gretawire should be named Greta Wired, as much as she works without sleep.
No, I think with a name like Housley you should keep it like it is, or maybe Housley’s Guest House…………or my original thought (and I think it was yours too)……The Bullpen.

It’s mating season and these beasts are showing up everywhere!!!! Last week a 7 ft showed up in a ladies kitchen, yesterday there was a 10 ft hanging out near an elementary school in Orlando and officer’s where posted to escort the kids who walk to school safely. Adamwire is too close to Gretawire! Why didn’t I see that? Thanks Adam, yes Susan my blog is permanently unable to post on Adam’s. Because there must be some rule, the reporters have to remain separate or something. I post on Alisyn’s and Janice’s without a problem.

Thanks Adam! Billy Pittman home town boy is headed as a free agent to San Diego. He was a miracle player in high school.

Terri and FL it happens hundreds of time each and every day in CA and TX. We are going broke with Medicaid. The baby automatically gets it, and usually because of the hospital bill they cover the mother too. Meanwhile the father pays for nothing. Which is why we are fighting for our income and they are driving new trucks.

I would feel different it if is out of Cuba, you know I fully understand oppression. But there are work passes to the USA too. But they want to live here free. After Medicaid they get WIC and food stamps. The helping of them doesn’t stop, and it is costing our american families dearly.

Comment by Terri ~ Las Vegas

Pretty soon, we Americans will sink. The lifeboat of the U S of A can’t take on this constant wave of illegals….

With American jobs being sent overseas … jobs being taken by illegals…

who will pay for all these system sappers???

I hear by 2050
28 people will be paying for 73 dependents….

Terri…….if your analogy of the sinking lifeboat proves to be correct, then we need to start making plans now on what we’re going to do when she finally does sink. Not having such a plan will just leave us floundering aimlessly, at the mercy of the stormy seas ahead. We have some very tough decisions to make……..Do we grab our life preservers and just wait for the inevedible? Or, do we change the course and seek calmer waters. One thing’s for sure……WE NEED TO DECIDE RIGHT NOW………..the time for B.Sing is over…….IMO.

Summary of answers about *most* of the ills of the Socialized Society that is the U.S. of A. currently:

(all uses of “you” are generic and collective, about Americans)

If you don’t know how it will ever be paid for…

…stop giving it away.

If you don’t know how to stop…

…then it seems to me that, in the great battle of wits that is modern social society, someone is a lot smarter than you are.

If your leaders won’t let you stop…

…get new leaders.

Oh, and stop asking roughly 2 percent of all families to send their children off to war for you while the rest act like you are entitled to sit home, build a career and family, and be protected.

Ironic, isn’t it?: The one sure-fire way a foreign national with no job skills and the most modest command of English can become a real red-blooded American Citizen is to wait in line for any legal entry, join up, and go protect you.

Comment by Derek

OK guys, I am going to disagree a bit here.

Think about it, what would you do for your child, or children, what would you stop at? I can say that there is nothing I would not do for my boys, there are no limits. There is nothing I would not do to give my boys a better life.

That said, I also stick within the laws, I make do, I work hard, and I sacrifice things for myself.

These people have their back against the wall, they are in a country that is broken. The difference between their children being raised in poverty, and actually have a chance, is a sprint across the border. I know I would be lacing up my Nike’s as well.

But, I think there is a giant misunderstanding around the whole world about america, I have spoken to many people that honestly believe if you are born in america, you are rich, that is because they see everything that america has, and they associate that with being rich, now compared to what they have, we are doing very well.

They do not understand that american work very hard, we are driven to succeed and that our governement takes a percentage of everything we earn. That is an unknown concept to them, most other countries have some crazy supply of something (oil, gold, precious stones) that the government is supported by that. In america we have those things, but it is private companies that do the work to develop those industries and the government takes a percentage. In oil producing countries, the government takes all the money from that.

I have no problem letting families in here, I would love to offer them a better life, but we need to let them in legally, take care of their immediate needs, and help them to become productive citizens.

My concerns are with NAFTA and the question, why has it not helped mexican citizens better their life? Maybe it was never about improving others lives, and it was all about increasing profits…just a theory.

When I am president, I am going to strike down the free trade crap, and we are going to impose tariffs that are equal to the tarriffs other countries impose on us.

That is where we need to concentrate, we need to bring back money and jobs, and quite exporting it all. We need to be the world leaders in innovation and we need to keep those big jobs at home.

When we have finally perfected a zero emissions car, we need to make sure it is affordable to all americans and let other countries can buy it for triple the price.

Finding it all too easy to put the blame for our misfortunes on someone else. I’m reminded, however, that when I point one blaming finger at you………..three fingers point right back at me. So who’s fault is it really? Who’s really to blame?
It’s not going to be an easy road to travel on for a while, IMO, but the only way to better times is to take the road ahead of us…………sitting here is not an option.

Comment by Max Kon

Patty: “and now, nothing but bankrupt.”

Not quite, they managed to create an economic slowdown, and the media has mainly blamed it on Bush. Just in time for November’s election.

Comment by Derek

I love the liberal blaming bush for the economy.

freakin idiots

I will say it again, the economy goes in waves. Wall street has 1000% more influence on the economy than any politician, but even they do not control the economy completely.

The things that they do effect are the severity of the waves.

Clinton balanced the books but at a very heavy cost, he completely gutted our military and intelligence, leading up to us being caught with our boots off when 9/11 hit.

He opened up the avenues for greedy corporations to route the working class by allowing unchecked trade between other countries.

Corporate America has caused the sharp waves by investing and losing billions in “get rich quick” schemes.

Bush has made some mistakes, that is for sure, but to blame him for the economy is idiotic.

The economy is resetting itself, just like it did after the dot-com bust, it will rebound within a year and the traders will be happy again.

The things we do need to do to help our country in the long run, is reduce if not eliminate our dependence on foreign energy, we need to bring manufacturing jobs back to America, we need to establish fair trading again, right now we are just giving away money to other countries that do not have labor laws, and letting the greedy corporation make more and more money for themselves.

We also need to bring back honesty and integrity to our elected leaders, that is the root of all the corporate greed, we have politicians on the payroll of major corporations…sickening

want more financial advice, talk to your retirement planner about snapping up cheap long term stocks, an economy resetting itself is a great time to buy, of course you will want to try and buy as soon as it bottoms out.

Max..isnt it amazing what bush gets blamed for? You’d think he was God or something and has Almighty powers for everything he supposedly “caused”.

Max……if GW was, then that would make this heaven. And that means we’d all be deceased. And, to the best of my knowledge, the dearly departed don’t pay taxes…………so why the did I write a check to the IRS last month? And if this is heaven, who the hell let Rev. Wright in?

But seriously, if only one man could “ruin” an economy, then it should take only one man to fix it. As Derek said, free market economies by design run in up and down cylces. Always have, always will. What is worrisome is the loss of production ( and therefor income and jobs ) in the US. I can’t recall in the history of this country where all leading indicators of the economy’s health were showing negative figures. I don’t think that all these negatives on our economy have ever hit at the same time. ie-the rises in food costs, health and education costs, energy costs coupled with slumping housing, transportation, job markets are putting a strain on almost everyone that “works” for a living.

Speaking of work, I got’ta go for a while……..see you guys/gals later……..

Not only should we have been drilling in ANWR for the last 20 years, we should have been drilling off all our coastal areas. We can all thank Congress for the ‘inaction’….and ourselves, for electing these people to office and allowing the ’special interest’ groups to lobby……..thanks to environmentalists, we have not expanded nuclear power……. wind energy is blocked by the NIMBY’s (not in my back yard folks), alternative sources of powering our automobiles has not been developed due to the union and car company lobbyists.

Derek, when you are President, will you abolish lobbying?

Also, will you take away the right of the states to allow offshore drilling? No expansion off Florida as it was opposed by Florida voters…… Same will drilling off the Oregon and Washington coasts and expansion off California.

K2-

Lobbying like Unions, used to be useful and powerful, now they are only powerful.

There will be serious reforms in all of the government, and lobbiest will be at the top of my list. While I believe that people have the right to peacefully assemble and free speech, that is all that should be legal. The big kickbacks and corruption will be burned out. I think lobby groups can be useful again, but we have to take the big business out of it.

I don’t mind people coming to this country LEGALLY… and taking care of themselves and paying their own way like WE DO …

I have a problem w/ people coming here illegally and expecting us taxpayers to pay their way.

Terri - Agree!

We can start small……no more ‘anchor babies’ - must be born by a citizen to be a citizen.

Add a year to high school - year 13 is a year of service to the country - start with 2 months of ‘boot camp’ and then service in a branch of the military - but not sent into combat. After that year, an individual can enlist in the military service to continue…..or, then go to college, or get a job.

And, if you drop out of high school - you are required to devote two years to public service, with at least one full year in the military. If you are not disciplined to finish school, you will need additional training!

Presidential
Candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Mc Cain were
Flying to a debate.

Barack looked at
Hillary, Chuckled and
Said, ‘You know I could throw a $1,000 bill out of the window right now
And make somebody very happy.’

Hillary shrugged
Her shoulders and replied, ‘I could throw ten $100 bills out of the
Window
And make ten people very happy.’

John added ,
‘That being the case, I could throw one hundred $10 bills out of the
Window and make a hundred people very happy.’

Hearing their
Exchange, the pilot rolled his eyes and said to his copilot, ‘Such
Big-shots back there. I could throw all three of them out of the
Window and make 300million people very happy.’

I’m
Voting for the Pilot

wow– May Day— Terri– are you watching the demonstrators demanding end to raids on illegals!

Comment by Terri ~ Las Vegas

Luckily, I don’t see that Fox is paying as much attention to the stupid May Day deal…
*shakes head*
but I did see how they are demanding and end to the raids … *sniff*

I demand that we quit paying for their social benefits, education and healthcare …
and paying more than double “uninsured motorist” charges b/c they drive around without car insurance…

I’m not a mean uncharitable person either … we donate A LOT of money every year to charities…

but that is our choice and we choose who we donate to.

We are being forced to pay for illegals… and for the past 3 years I’ve seen illegals qualify for benefits that middle class families don’t qualify for.. it’s not right. I’ve also seen a drunk illegal alien not even have to go to court after rear ending my husband at a red light while on duty.
*shakes head*
