Drug Subs

In the last six months the U.S. Coast Guard along with the U.S. Navy have found 42 submersibles headed north towards the United States and off the coast of Central America.

That is double the number found in the previous five years combined. These subs can carry as much as 10 tons of drugs or even weapons and some of the latest models can move 15 knots. This is obviously troubling and makes our war on the cartels that much more difficult.

We are currently at Coast Guard Island in Alameda California, where the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sherman is located. The ship has recently returned from operations off of Central America, where finding these subs is proving difficult. They are primitive but effective and built similar to the subs used in the civil war. Usually about six inches or so sticks above the water, which is almost impossible to spot.

During the day the subs sit, preserving their cover for movement at night. Here is some great raw video provided by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Looks like a few bursts of .50 cal. would take care of this problem. Sink the bastards.

If locating these submarines is becoming more difficult for the C.G. to locate maybe they could get some AntiSubmarineWarfare sonar from the Navy. I mean we even have satellites that can locate submarines all over the world. Scan the suspected areas and “Bingo”. Perhaps they could recall the old SOSUS transducers on the ocean floors or plant some other similiar arrays in suspected areas. Point is nothing should be so complicated for our technology. Just don’t use the equipment provided by that company sold us for along the boarder that was recently scrapped for a better, working system ;-)

Do you know how much money the Navy spends to certify submarines on weapon ranges?? We could kill two birds with one stone here.

We wouldn’t have this problem if drugs were legalized, regulated, taxed, and had rehab clinics available that are funded by the taxes of the drugs. Then these cartels and drug dealers on the street wouldnt have money to fund their gang and cartel habits. when will our country learn, this is just like prohibition. But no, we rather keep everything illegal drive the drug business underground arrest millions of law abiding drug using citizens and let the gangs and cartels make money to fund their gangster like mentality just like during prohibition. There’s no easy answer to this but harm reduction would work a lot better just like with cigarettes and alcohal. Look at how much we reduced tobacco use and did we make it illegal? no. Maybe we should to prove a point. Because I dont think one person here would say someone who uses tobacco should be arrested. Like I said we wouldnt have this problem if drugs were legal and strictly regulated.
