Real Life Inspector Gadget!
This is the first of a couple videos I will post. Our story for Thursday includes ray guns, strobing lights, unmanned planes and hi-tech speakers … all of it comes from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
Here you can find Sgt. Brian Muller, the new gadget guy in charge, and the guy who tests much of this stuff out. Not all of it will bought or implemented by the L.A. Sheriff’s, but much of it will continue development and end up working in another area, or in a new way.

Basically Sgt. Muller and his department are watched by many other forces in the country to see what’s next, what’s coming down the line that can make police work safer for all involved and more efficient. We got an up close look at seven different new gadgets and all will be featured during our live reports throughout the day, which includes a new heat ray gun by Ratheon that got me moving.
In the first video here’s — a flashlight that strobes a suspect into submission and then a radar that can see through walls. The second video shows an unmanned plane that can fit into a 3-foot tube when folded up. The plane has two high quality cameras, one of them can pan 350 degrees. Following the plane are some MAD speakers. Magnetic Audio Devices can clearly project for hundreds of yards, they can also pick up my voice from 80 yards at a normal level. Finally I have shown an up close look at Raytheon’s Heat Ray Gun. I got zapped and it feels like someone is sticking you with a cigarette, but there’s no burn. What the gun does is heat the water molecules just under the skin and there’s no after effects. done
All this hi-tech stuff is pretty wild. Do those strobe lights temporarily blind you? Is that how that works.
I have heard of technology that gives law enforcement, or whoever, the ability to detect through walls in people houses how much money they actually have inside. Good for detecting suspected drug dealers or the like. I wonder if this is true or just rumor?
I saw your responses Adam, Thank you -What do you mean you have people looking at my blog posts? Umm should I shut up?
Thanks
HWA
HWA–
I bet Adam enjoys your company–
This might explain more about the light system.

In an amusing case of closing the circle, the folks at Danger Room cite the FOXNews story in the text.
Adam - pretty interesting. Good to see the “good guys” are trying to stay one step ahead! BTW, they didn’t find a reason to lock you up while you were there did they?
Patty - The 400 is the race run on the Saturday nearest the 4th of July. It was called the Firecracker 400 until the speedways began naming the races after the sponsor. For the last number of years it’s been the “Pepsi 400″, this year they are switching to a winner and will be the “Coke Zero 400″. The Daytona 500 is the first race of the season and is in February.
Adam - if you find out who’s covering the race let me know. They can find me working the drink cart in front of the Checkers trailer under the “Sprint Towers”. If any of you fellow bloggers make it to the race come find me!!! (I’ll be donating my time to raise money for my son’s wrestling team)
Adam - love the new technology the cops have but you can’t beat a good ol’ K9! One of Palm Bay’s finest took a bit out of what looks to be the arsonist who started the wildfires in that area. Good Boy!

Patty - yes, watched Idol last night. I knew it would come down to the 2 Davids. My boys think David Cook will when but David A has so many young girls voting for him. It may be hard for him to win just for that reason. BTW, what about the special song in last night’s show by “Fantasia” (sp?). OM, we just sat there staring at the TV like “what the heck is that” and I said to my family, if I was in the crowd and the camera looked at me this is what my face would look like and I sat there with my mouth open and a confused look on my face. 10 seconds later they showed Simon’s face and we all bust out laughing because he looked just like me. What in the world was that and who is she??? That was awful!!!!!!!!
Are they going to send you back to South America anytime soon? Chavez is making noise again about the US moving a base from Peru to Columbia, not to mention the Interpol report coming out. Could get interesting again.
Fl..fantasia is a idol winner a few years back. there is a movie about her beating the odds as a single mom. real tear jerker.
I only saw the last 15 min of the show lastnight, so i missed what she did, but i will find it on youtube for sure.
re the race…they should have stayed with pepsi! (m dew!)
‘morning Adam and all!
swamped here, but wanted to say hiya.
cops would have me down in a heartbeat with a strobe…one of the worst things in the world for a migrainer…flashing lights…just the thought of it…ohhhhh the pain!
HWA…
adam was teasing you. lil paranoid are we? ha ha…. he doesnt censor posts, unless they are an attack of some sort.
if he did and that were the case he would have cancelled mine and susan’s email addresses months ago just cause we post too many!
Good morning all and Adam too,
new toys, a new way to keep crime off the streets, thats good but how about a couple of new high tech toys to keep the folks in DC honest and at work for us?
Florida S. - re Fantasia…it was too weird! We got gypped because she’s a great singer and would’ve been nice to hear her belt out a good song. Instead, we saw her spazzing out on stage with weird Kool-Aid color hair, which Ryan asked her about. Simon’s reaction was the same as mine, as in “What the heck is this??” Patty: It’s worth taking a look at the tape for a few laughs…
Oh wait they have its called Voting
retread…until your pres…there may be no “hope” in that ever happening!
oh wait, you cant have that title retread, its given to derek (sgt)….sorry!
Adam…i just re-read the title…….*L*….inspector clouseau? he he
EVERYONE-
HWA, did you get your answer? They of course didn’t keep me here and sunshine I WILL make sure our crews know where you are! K-9’s are almost always the best weapon and…..what the heck was Fantasia doing? So, we are not going in that direction, let’s stay on the cool gadget stuff for now. I am going to post more behind the scenes video soon. Next live is scheduled for 9:50am west coast, 12:50 eastern.
Adam
Are all the Fox blogs merging into this one? I was looking for Adam’s old blog and my saved link keeps sending me here. What is that about?
Gadgets: What do you think of that flip cam thing? Is that a good cheap way to go?
*whispering* cause i’m not supposed to go there.
…..fantasia…i found it on youtube….that was terrible. Simon’s face was totally priceless!
*sneaking back out the door*
Patty,
NOT PRESIDENT? Then how’s about emperor, dictator for life? Sounds good to me!
Adam
Saw your report—sounded like you were able to talk ok while that strobe was flashing in your eyes, could you not really move??
What do you think about those tasers? We hear about a lot of deaths after those are used, and they end up saying it’s not related.
They acknowledged they cut your segment short…but, you can tell Fox I get tired of that, since I didn’t see any reason for it–they repeat the other stories over and over, seems to me they could just eliminate or shorten one of the other stories they are talking about constantly to let the live reports like yours be seen.
(I missed Fantasia. Go David A!! since Jason is gone. LOL)
@All
FYI:
I am posting some ongoing news on the State Sponsor of Terror thread, regarding INTERPOL’s report on the FARC computers.
Follow-up
The link to the full story about the report is now posted, and I am off to other matters.
be well and safe, All
((departs))
LDG-
I got this from a couple of sources, but didn’t get it until now because of my live reports on law enforcement technology. I will write a new thread now. I’ll post it in a bit. Big News!
Adam
Adam - Great! (”I will make sure our crews know where you are”
would it be too much to ask for a FOX News shirt???? oh, never mind…they don’t have any “girl t’s”. If they did I would proudly advertise FOX News at the race. lol hey, weren’t you going to come out with some Housley in the House t-shirts?
I think the remote control plane with the camera is a great idea for local police force needs (as opposed to the bigger version used in a military field). I’m sure there are many times this “gadget” could come in handy.
The radar thing looks the coolest i think.
It’s be better if maybe someday they wouldn’t have to have it on the wall of the building.
Sunshine: I’m thinking it’d be a lot less expensive to run than a helicopter
Good morning all
Been out of town for a bit, but have now caught up on reading all of the blogs and comments. Wow, I feel so honored.
LDG and Susan, - thank you sooooo much for remembering my anniversary. What a surprise - It was our 5th wedding anniversary - not bad for an old broad on social security huh? Might have to do with being married to a “boy toy” - keeps me young!!
Patty, Max, Karen2, Avi, and Jen S - Thanks so much for the congrats and well wishes. Jen - we really loved your poem, printed it up for a keepsake.
Soooooo - does anyone know how to unclog a bathtub filled with Jello?????
KC–
You commented on LDG’s wife’s blog about your anniversary as it was your fifth one too– and Your anniversary is the mexican holiday for mom’s day so it was easy to remember–Hope you had a good time on your vacation?
How the heck did you get jello in the bathtub? Or should I not ask? I bet Kathy Texas would have an answer! I have no clue as to unclog a bathtub with jello!!! LOL
KC: How about hydrochloric acid (stomach acid)?
That should break it down.
KC……….*LMAO*!!!!!! what a woman!!!
KC - Jello in the tub……hmmmmmmm — don’t think I want to know!
Sounds like you had a great time away.
I want to know—
our 29th anniversary is in December. We need all the help we can get
BTW, what flavor is it?
@KC-Fresno
welcome back!
So glad to hear it sounds like it was a most enjoyable Anniversary celebration.
((laugh)) …Jello…
