Senator Ted Kennedy Hospital Watch (on Saturday)
As we’ve been reporting here on Fox, U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy was rushed to the hospital this morning after reportedly suffering “stroke like symptoms.” He was evaluated by doctors at Cape Cod Hospital who made the decision to have him taken via helicopter to Mass General for a battery of tests. We just heard from a Kennedy spokesperson that he is said to be resting comfortably, is sitting up in bed and “joking with family members,” one of which I saw earlier today on a shuttle flight from New York to Boston — his niece, Caroline Kennedy. I asked her how her uncle was doing when we landed, but understandably, she didn’t want to talk to me, and declined to comment. I snapped this photo as we were driving away in a cab… you can she she is waiting for a cab with her husband, Ed. Not exactly my best stealth camera work, but you get the idea.
FNC political correspondent Major Garrett just arrived on scene. He’s been getting a lot of inside info from his sources, and will be bringing you more in-depth coverage as we continue to monitor the Senator’s condition. While Kennedy’s family members say he is up and joking, we know that these types of medical emergencies are no joking matter, and this still could be quite serious. We’ll continue to bring you the latest from the hospital, stay tuned!
I tried to talk to Ted Kennedy’s niece Caroline Kennedy as we were deplaning, but not surprisingly, she did not have a comment. She, like the rest of us, were checking our phones the second we touched down to see what kind of updates happened while we were in the air. Here’s what our news desk sent us:
STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY
“It appears that Senator Kennedy experienced a seizure this morning. He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure. Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours.”
We are in the cab now heading to Mass General — we are being told a live sat truck is en route, and will bring you live reports from the scene, as soon as get up and running.
1:48 pm: I am writing this to you on board the Delta shuttle from LGA to Boston — U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy has been rushed to the hospital and we have been dispatched to rush to the scene as well. I met up with our Fox Producer, Andrew Fone, just now at the airport. We both raced here as soon as “the call” was made. Andrew is our Boston producer and was visiting NY this weekend, and came so quickly to the airport he doesn’t even have a bag with him! Caroline Kennedy is also on board.
My prayers and thoughts go out at this time to Senator Kennedy and his family. It was good to hear that he is stabilized and resting comfortably. I hope he can have a full recovery.
I believe that most Americans, no matter who they are, are in agreement in wishing Ted Kennedy to recover completely and get a clean bill of health. I do not agree however, in hearing all these praises about him. He probably have hurt the country with his politics more than helped. The only ones that probably benefitted more than others are probably his constituents who are at the receiving ends of all the “porks.” His “dedication to public service” probably nested him, his family, and his friends billions of “OUR HARD-EARNED” money.
Our prayers are with the entire Kennedy Families and well as those in the world who are experencing this same trauma. May God blessed patient and family. God bless. Dimples
Can we please move on to real news. Can we move on after 10 hours of reporting on Kennedy seizure or what ever. Since Kennedy’s condition is improving and he is now eating out. Please report on something important. Thank you.|
I’m a lifelong conservative and over the years have disagreed with Senator Kennedy on more issues than I can count and often wished he’d just go away… but not like this. I never thought I’d ever say this but, I’m gonna wish him the best. I’m sure his family is worried and wants him to come home healthy. Get well soon Senator Kennedy.
I’m sorry for him with illness, BUT WHO CARES. He is just one of the people who have done nothing good for this country. He is so far left, I would not want to talk to the man or meet him. To me he is useless. He is for everything I’m against. I wish he would retire. He is a good example for term limitation.
My uncle had seizures and the Doctor took him off, Lipitor saying cholesterol lowering Drugs are more and more the cause of Strokes as well as other problems.
Drugs have side effects somrtimes deadly.
I am a Massachusetts resident, don’t agree with Ted on much, but wish him well. The Kennedy family has kept Massachusetts politics relevant for my years and I owe the Kennedys a great deal. Get well and get back to Hyannis soon.
Get better Ted. Not that anyone cares.
I pray for Ted Kennedy who really needs to know Jesus as his Savior before he meets him as his judge.
I pray that he would know the truth shown in God’s Word and use it to make wise decisions.
God forbid anything happen to Ted Kennedy! This country would totally fall apart if he should ever become incapacitated!
I pray that Senator Kennedy will be okay.

enjoy….hey maybe he read this just before the sezuire,,hahahaha
I’m thankful that Senator Kennedy is doing well, but question the attention that this health incident has gotten on Fox News. Why is this being given so much air time? Why would a correspondent be sent to Massachusetts for a hospital watch? This seems like misplaced priorities for the news that affects Americans. A mention of this happening and that he is recovering would be appropriate but the extensive and repetitive coverage that I’ve seen today is disturbing.
Yes- acute abstinence from alcohol, in an alcoholic, can cause seizures or worse
As an American I am sorry to hear and concerned for Senator Kennedy. My prayers for his health and quick recovery are with him during this time and hope him the best. Even though I am conservative in all of my votes and beliefs, I would never wish him or others any ill will ever.
God Bless Senator
Scott W.
I am no fan of Senator Kennedy, but I pray that he will be ok.
You only don’t care because you don’t know the person or where they come from or what they have done. Like they say, If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything.
I wish Senator Ted Kennedy well as he is someone who still can change the game.

Drinking will do that to you. Dont wish anything bad on the guy and hope he recovers. I dont agree with his policies but as a person I hope he gets better.
Good Luck Ted
I know the left side would love to see Bush go down if it was him in the hospital. But that is the difference between the left and the right. Remember what happened to all the liberals after the war of 1812 was won. Let me refresh your memory. The ones who wanted to surrender to the British where hung.
As a recovering alcoholic (sober 12 and a half years), seizures are very common for those suffering from alcoholism. I was hospitalized at least ten times for seizures before I came out of denial about my alcoholism and admitted myself to a recovery clinic. Whether you like Ted Kennedy or not, he is in need of our prayers.
This first thing I thought about when I heard about Senator Kennedy’s seizures was Lyme Disease. Massachusetts is highly endemic for tick borne diseases and any one of several of them are likely to be a cause. Let’s hope his doctors are informed about this possibility. It sounds like everyone is leaning toward stroke or alcoholic withdrawal. Let’s not jump the gun.
Could be Lyme Disease . Massachusetts is highly endemic and several tick borne diseases can cause seizures.
