I want to thank FOX News for their dignified coverage of the Memorial Day Holiday. I also want to thank those people who posted here for their kind remarks towards veterans , both living and dead. As an American combat veteran, I can tell you that those experiences have changed our lives forever. Its now an integral part of the fabric that makes us who we are. We still have nightmares, still get misty eyed at the flag and the playing of the national anthem and we have an enduring kinship with other vets that those who never served will ever be able to understand.

Personally, I need no thanks for my service and I expect no special consideration. Your continued existence in a free nation is all the thanks I need. And, to the lefties out there that believe that service members and vets are war mongering killers in search of our next innocent victim, I have news for you. Most service members and vets that I know are anti war. Let me repeat that; we're anti war. We don't actually want to go out and kill other human beings. What we believe is that there's something greater than ourselves worth risking our lives for. That something is you.

if you're going to mount shark jaws...you may want to put them higher than eye level. However, I'm guessing this guy's happy it wasn't at waist height. ha ha

Adam,
I am expecting lows in the mid 30's tonight! Yuck! I think I need a fire pit in my backyard... ;) Sure a drastic difference from the lows in the 70's I enjoyed on my cruise! After tomorrow, I guess the 70's are returning in the daytime, so there's hope!

**on topic**

I am thankful I had a good weather weekend! I was able to enjoy cookouts both with his family and mine, including my uncle, the father of my cousin overseas.

Again, great photos.

One of our most important holidays.....A time to remember those who allow us to enjoy our freedom.

Also, I remember, as a kid, buying the poppy at school - they were only a few cents. This year, the Veterans were giving them away for a donation in front of the grocery.....yep, got one!

Adam - Nice photos and tribute to our fallen soldiers. We owe them all so much!

And Susan - AZ -- What a nice effort you made yesterday, going out of your way like that. I always go to our little Memorial Day parade to show some support and appreciation. And I proudly display my U.S. and Marine Corps. flags on my desk here at work (my son is a Marine) even though some of my very liberal coworkers probably think I'm some kind of conservative fanatic or something!

socal--

I know-- I have been watching too! Glenn Beck is on the story too!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Memorial Day- it takes guts to fight a war! Or even just to be standing around as a correspondant!

I find these special days to be somewhat hypocritical-- a good time to have a BBQ, but in actuality, maybe instead of celebrating, give some respect to those who died-- go visit the VA's Cemetary, or go to the hospital and visit one of those aging guys who are stuck there- I did that today!

I left with Administration four plants with little flags on them at the VA Hospital on 7th Street and Indian School, and I asked if these could be given to any of the patients there if there were allowed to have plants.

I got many thanks!

This was my Memorial Day!

Awesome pictures, Adam. Thank you.

And Thanks goes out to all the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom as well as the freedom of those overseas.

A friend of ours from church left this morning for Iraq. Thanks, Chip! And thank you to your wife and kids for standing in the gap while you're gone.

E-mail 'bloodbath' threat paralyzes Mexican city

Mexico's northern border town of Juarez, infamous for its history of drug-related violence, has gone into lockdown after an e-mail began circulating warning of an unparalleled "bloodbath" in the coming days.
Shops, bars and restaurants have shut and soldiers are patrolling the streets, giving a surreal and dangerous tone to this city of 1.4 million people which sits just across the US border from the Texan town of El Paso.

Authorities are taking seriously the anonymous e-mail, which menaced "the bloodiest and most violent weekend in the history of Juarez."

The place is already reeling from a surge in murders that has claimed around 400 lives so far this year, several of them police officers and members of rival narcotics gangs.

The US embassy to Mexico has told US citizens that the message represented a "potential threat" and that public places, nightspots and the main streets in Juarez should all be avoided.

In Juarez, nerves frayed by the rising body count -- including at least 20 people killed over the past weekend, among them two policemen gunned down as they finished their shift -- have begun to shred in terror because of the much-forwarded e-mail, even though its veracity was unknown.

"We don't have any information to suspect that the e-mails are real," mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz said on Sunday.

Nevertheless, he said, extra police were being sent to those streets and areas mentioned in the message.

The army has already been reinforcing security in the city since March, though its presence has done little to deter the crime wave. Each weekend has seen an average of around 25 murders.

Municipal officials believe the violence gripping the city is the result of a war between drug cartels.

Reyes Ferriz had claimed early last week that the conflict was having no impact on life in general in Juarez. But the sudden evacuation of the streets after the e-mails paints a different picture.

One measure of the effect of the threat was the time it takes to cross one of the bridges into El Paso.

Usually, it is a trip of more than an hour. On the weekend, vehicles were crossing over in less than five minutes.

I want to THANK all the Veterans and Active Duty Soldiers for their service to our country. For the ones who have died and sacrificed themselves for us...for our freedom; and the families they leave behind....we don't take your SON or DAUGHTER'S DEATH for granted. Thank you Col. North and ALL the News People that have served and have been embedded with the troops to bring us the pictures and stories of the war. God Bless you all! My Dad served during WWll. Never talked much about it. My first husband was in the Navy and served during Veitnam. My second husband was with the Air Force and served during Vietnam. We fly our Flags proudly!
