In case you weren’t able score tickets to the hottest event in town Tuesday night, here’s the scoop… Radio City Music Hall was the place to be, as the “Sex and the City” cast and the film’s famous fans turned out for the movie’s New York premiere.

Cameraman Tommy Chiu and I got there plenty early, and stood in the extremely humid, hot tents waiting for the celebrities to arrive. It was rainy outside the tents, and all the lights and people inside the tents make for a very sticky night. It was hard to look glamorous in those conditions, but the fabulous foursome managed to look amazing.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s blue eyes lit up as she spoke to me about the movie. When I asked whether there should be more movies like this one, featuring women ages 40-and-over, she said, “The idea of there being a marketplace for stories that are funny and rich and substantial and triumphant and ridiculous, that there is an audience for that would be fantastic.”

Famous fans of the movie, from Jerry Seinfeld to Katie Couric walked the Cosmo-pink carpet. And I had my first interview with singer Fergie. She sings on the soundtrack and was just gorgeous in person – I think she should be cast in a sequel, if there is one!

I also made a pitch for myself to get some bigscreen facetime. “Sex and the City” writer/director Michael Patrick King said to me, “I remember you – you interviewed me at the junket.” Since he was so friendly and warm, I completely took advantage and very smoothly suggested that if his next project has any reporter scenes, “Jill from FOX,” would be a perfect choice! Think he’ll give me a cameo in his next film??

Oh – and the highlight of my night was meeting Jason Lewis, who plays Smith Jerrod in the film and the series. I’m usually a germaphobe, but I must admit, I didn’t mind one bit when he kissed me on the hand – repeatedly! He’s dreamy.
