I can't believe King Kong attraction is gone. I loved going through that attraction. I wonder when new york street and courthouse square will be back up again and I wonder what attraction is being put up in replace of King Kong.

Patty,

Those pictures are crazy - I have never seen hail that size in my life. I am so thankful the storms are missing you, and we will keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.

Guess I will never complain about living in this "hell hole" of a valley again.

Be safe my friend

KC...thank you, yep, its our lil piece of heaven, all 80 acres ;-)
And the baby, is just perfect, he was here this weekend for a bit.

So far..the KS weather has missed us. Thankfully! My heart always breaks for those who loose belongings, i know its just "things", but still, things that are close to the heart are hard to loose. Today there was baseball and softball size hail about 75 miles south, those storms slid right by us. If you've never really been in a hail storm, its hard to imagine. Here's some pics from this morning, most of it down by the interstate eastern 1/2 of the state. http://www.wibw.com/weather/headlines/19459534.html
get a load of that windshield....i've never seen anything like that! and never want to!
I cant remember a spring like this. KS has had 90 tornadoes in this spring. Its crazy!

Hi Patty

Been thinking about ya and the Kansas weather watches/warnings. Is all OK at your end???

Loved your slide show - so beautiful, peaceful and quiet looking. It has got to beat a house on both sides of you, behind your back fence, and of course across the street like we have. Loved your new porch/deck.

Also, congrats on that new grandbaby of yours - cute pics there too!!!

Alright, you've got me convinced - I'll try to put aside my less-than-stellar track record with online forums and make a real effort. I've changed my "Comment by" name in hope of avoiding common name confusion. I've got areas where I know a lot, others where I know nothing, and I look terrible in a bikini.

Which is to say, I think I would.

ah yes, Hi KC, she has probably returned from a recent hunting expedition. These women, hunt and tag men for sport...I am grateful I am on the opposite side of the country, but I fully expect to be walking to my car one day and then hearing a faint twig snap, just before getting shot with a dart and then collared for "scientific study", these wild women seem to think they can domesticate us menfolk

mike,

yes thundering wonder knuckle is going on my next business card, the link for the main page is this:

http://onthescene.blogs.foxnews.com/author/adamhousley/

I would like to see it progress to email updates, but that is a ways off. there is the regular crowd, that you will see pop in and out of most blogs, I am actually one of the new ones I think, I used to post under the name Derek, but the new site (the link I gave you) likes the sgt shot better.

I too am completely disappointed with both of the major parties in our election, I do not identify with either enough, and I am going to use your lesser of two evils is evil thing in the future. We have talked a few times in here about what it would take to get a real third option in politics, but it is really just talk, but an enjoyable topic.

We have several people that are extremely bright and gifted in various areas, I will let you figure out whe they are, we have others that look great in a bikini, again you will have to figure that out, we have one guy in israel, several in south america, and lots of us scattered throughout the states.

We really have a good time, and for the most part we stay on the most current thread, you will find that on the link I posted, we digress all the time, we tell jokes, we discuss really important things and we plot to take over the world, we are starting with Adams Bedroom, from there we will conquer the kitchen, then on to the living room...we start small and stay small...with adam as our fearless leader.

"Thundering Wonder Knuckle"...even if it's a putdown of sorts, it still sounds mighty impressive. Is there a general url for this board, is it something I can coordinate through my email? Politically, I'm middle of the road as well, though neither of the two 'official' sides represent enough of my interests to make me want to side with either of them. The lesser of two evils is still...evil. And if they still don't have enough money to run for office, to hell with all of them. I'm too busy trying to keep my tank filled to care.

Wild women, high explosives and goofing around? Okay, you've got my attention...

Mike,

well hopefully you are around, we get some very good discussions going. Most of them involve terrorism, Politics, Goofing around, High explosives, Adam babbling about something, wild woman (you all know who you are), and lots of things about California, we are from all over and most of us are pretty middle of the road politically. We like good discussions and debates, we like being able to call each other "thundering wonder knuckles", which is a polite way to say, I understand what you are saying but you are an absolute idiot for believing that, and then continuing to be friends...

I also despise the salaries we pay entertainers and that includes rock stars, actors, athletes, and the whole hollywood crowd (sorry Tamera, I actually like you, and after seeing one of your movies for the first time this last week, you are on the "shots approved actor list" for movies for my kids) I think it was "twitches too", the kids think you rock.

I enjoy hearing other sides of an issue and I think that me and you will agree more than we disagree, but I will enjoy hearing your side of it. You present well, even if you are a thundering wonder knuckle....oh wait...I think we actually have the same point of view...so it would be the pot calling the kettle black...

Sylvia, I was thinking it was the same Michael too. Maybe I was wanting to believe it was because he was such a good catalyst. Guess there are millions of Michaels in the world.

Adam, are you staying where you are or are you off to a new destination

Also, is there a way to email Jennifer Nauert

Thanks in advance, Montana

Hi Sylvia,

Nope, I haven't blogged anything regarding GW, which I'm guessing may be about the president. Anyway, this is the first time I've been here, and only found it because I was looking for information about the fire at Universal.

sgt, thanks for the welcome. I arrived here because of the Universal fire. And while I'll accept your apology, it's not necessary - didn't come off as harsh to me, though I will amend something I said previously: I have no use for, and little appreciation of, the Hollywood crowd, outside of the work they put on the screen. And we completely agree when it comes to overpaid actors and athletes. And rock stars, for that matter.

So we may not be in total agreement in some areas. What matters is the ability to address those differences in a reasonable, respectful manner that encourages active discussion and being able to do that, well, it's not something I see very often in discussion boards.

Are you the same one that used to blog on GW? If so, I always enjoyed your comments. I'm new to this blog. I know some of the people from GW who now come here.

Mike,

I will agree, that is a valid point, I will be taking my kids to see Indiana Jones, just like my father took me, and I am sure that there will many different demographics represented at the theater.

Most of the regulars here will tell you my fur gets ruffled any time anyone mentions overpaid actors or overpaid athletes, so I will apologize if I came off as harsh.

You seem like you can offer a logical argument and it might not completely align with my own views, also I have not noticed you here before...those factors make you a welcome addition to Adam's blog...so from me to you...welcome to the crowd.

The movies are a great legacy and we have a culture that is truly united by our entertainment, so much so, that I would think the last time a society was so influenced by a form of entertainment as much as we are, they were tossing Christians into the lions.

Hopefully our society does not align with that society on every issue, if that were to happen we would be in trouble.

sgt shot,

Thank you for a well-spoken and well-reasoned response. I think I may have overreached in my statement about the cultural significance of Hollywood. Now, when I say "Hollywood" I'm really speaking in terms of film and some tv shows. I have no use for, and little appreciation of, the Hollywood crowd. There are some talented people but just because a person is an actor, I really don't need them telling me how to vote.

I mention mythology, because it's my belief that civilizations need mythology; larger-than-life stories that inspire and strengthen the good aspects of humanity while punishing the bad. However, for a couple of hours in a theater, we can live vicariously through the actions of our heroes. We can be Spiderman, Indiana Jones or Batman and in the process, their exploits become our modern myths, legends and morality plays.

Of course, real-life heroes trump anything on the screen, and if I implied anything to the contrary, my apologies. As you said, not all of us can be the hero but most of us can afford a movie ticket or a dvd rental.

One of the things that makes the US so great is its diversity; we are a melting pot in which many different cultures, races and religions try to come together. It is a great thing but it also makes it difficult for the varied mythologies to be seen or heard. To me, that's where the movies come in. Sitting in the dark, we're all the same and seeing the stories, we are participating in a shared cultural experience that I think serves to unite more often than to divide. I'm not saying this is true of every movie, not by a long shot.
