Tech Tuesday: SONOS Music System
This week I have a product that’s a bit different than weeks past. We all love music of course and this unit has become the wave of the future because it is all wireless. Called the Sonos Multi-Room Music System, it’s basically a home stereo with very few wires.
done
Everyone works together via a zone called ‘hi-fi’, which allows everything work together around your home on its own little wireless network. The main unit is called a ‘ZonePlayer’, which works as a hub and easily connects to a set of speakers. The ‘Zone Player 100′ also has a built-in amplifier and is very user friendly when it comes to set up. I have an Apple computer as many of you know, with an airport extreme wireless unit, that made it a bit more interesting, but Sonos had a great phone support set up for my complicated home.
What’s great is that you can have multiple players in the home and they all sync together and a hand held wireless controlled can be carried throughout the home and works with every unit. Music comes from your computer files, internet radio and other services like Sirius. Here’s my trial. I liked the unit. So…feel free to throw the questions at me, ‘Sonos’, or otherwise.
Obama will be our next President and this rediculous war will finally be over.
Susan: lol, but then he’d have lost another 8 hours. He could always go to Baker Island and he’d gain an extra 4 hours.
EVERYONE-
ATTENTION…..even John! Susan stop typing!! So, you can now see what I have been working on the last day (besides driving to the wedding location), the new thread is amazing. The video and story is what it’s all about being American. We may have problems, but their is no better people or society on this planet. Yep, I will go back through this thread and catch up. Also the last one. But check out the new post.
Adam
Max- Tell Susan to leave me alone.
Max–
Adam said he is half a day behind– if he got on GMT time, can he catch up?
Adam–
I watched the video again– You need to dust the one tele! LOL
I just did that the other day— I hate to dust!!!! Let me know when a gizmo is invented which does dusting! I don’t care what the price is, I want one!!
Avi: GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) Is what’s in the UK. Israeli time is GMT+2. We are both on summer time, so it’s still plus 2.
Current GMT time is 9:37pm.
EVERYONE-
I know, I know, I know….I am behind by a half day. I am driving to a friends wedding and I promise that I WILL go back through this thread and the last two to make comments. I also have great new post for later today.
Adam
Max,
you sure??? im super sure we use GMT
Sylvia–
Before instant posting came in, Dottie and I were the bloggers over at Greta’s– LOL!!! I left because my name was hijacked too a couple times!
Max-
what is GMT?
Avi: Israel uses ‘IST’ (Israel Standard Time), and have DST (daylight saving time in the summer).
GMT is where i am.
Adam has a new post.
John,…I agree with you about why Obama won’t go on Greta’s show. Too much hate mail on her web site. He could never win over her viewers.
Susan,… I did post a lot over there but got tired of the name jacking that was being done. It’s not fun when someone posts nasty things using your name. I like a smaller blog that is not chaotic.
Patty,….talk about small world…Montana knows friends of my son in-law’s parents. My daughter and son-in-law live in Scottsdale.
John—
that was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Patty–
I am going to send you a picture of the bed from heck– the mattresses should be here in the next hour as they just called– time to get busy!
But I am going to go visit Japan for a minute on my side! LOL
have a good one–
Hope the doctor visits– Dottie and Montana come out favorably!
xxxxx
Speaking of Adam………..where is he?. You don’t think he’s still playing around with this SONOS system do you? Frollicking from room to room inside the Housley mansion……..doing the Elvis shake in the shower, dancing to Red Hot Chilli Peppers in the kitchen and entering Tamara’s bedroom to the title track of the movie “2001: Space Odesey.”
Patty– tell me about it– small world—-
Did you see the post about my old boyfriends? The one boyfriend, Pedro Gutierrrez’s brother is Carlos Gutierrez- Secretary of Commerce- (they are originally from Cuba)
I can tell you stories!!! LOL Email!!!!!! I use to hang out with him too!!! what a very small world!!!
http://www.whitehouse.gov/government/gutierrez-bio.html
Yes Adam, what Susan said.
I appreciate what you do, the variety of subjects, popping in when you can, and the freedom you give us here.
So, I too will Thank you!
And Adam–
Your tele on the video? How many inches?
Curious George
Adam-
I would like to say something about the 14,000,000 hits Greta has had–
First– you don’t put up about forty threads a day which many are– Go ahead and blog—
Second– you keep it simple enough so you can come in and acknowledge everyone at one point– and this is a big difference– We like to see you!! so thanks!
Montana–
Ouch!!!!!! I had a bite too awhile ago– and I blogged about it– my whole frigging calf was blown up like a balloon– It was so sore– and then it went away– so I figured it wasn’t too bad of a spider! I whack the heck out of black widows– in the last week or so, I have killed three!
Patty-
Those field mice can go hang out somewhere else– I don’t like them because they do the baby and nest thing!!!! I did run up to Lowe’s last night right before they closed and bought 12 trays with the bait and placed a couple in the closets- and around the entrances!! LOL
susan, thanks. small world! and seems to get smaller all the time. Wonder what the odds are that she knows our friend? hummm
Our banker called the other day, his brother in law had called to say that while on a safari in africa they met someone that knew us. It was our niece and family that lives in Colorado. To think, all those miles away, they all met someone in common. Fascinating world!!
Patty–
I call this season of campaigning– Comedy of Errors—–
oh montana…that sounds painful about the bite. Sure hope it’s neither of those!!!
We have the recluse, but no scorpions here.
Susan…field mice galore here! (especially when your house is surrounded by fields! *L*) argh, i hate them. Sure fire way to find me standing on top of something and im not coming down until you’ve proven to me its DEAD!!
Proves to be a interesting day at work if that happens! Thats why there is a “shop cat”!
Patty–
yes to your question to Montana–
Montana–
AJ– That is right! I remember now! It is a bit of drive but not too bad! LOL-
———————————————————————————————————————
john– as to the few times you have visited over there– I can always recognize you when you do post there– 90% of the time, I crack up!! xxxx
Montana……I’m by no means an expert either. But, being an undecided independent, as of this moment, gives me the opportunity to observe both candidates without too much bias.
Montana..AJ as in Apache Jct?
If so we have a very dear friend and her mother who “winter” there.
John…i agree with the Obama reasoning.
Dont know about anyone else but we are so sick of politics its pathetic. Primaries need to be on one frick’in day, not strung over months and months. And the Repubs need to get rid the to caucus notion, its almost grade schoolish.
The money that has been wasted this season is just awful. Not one person should be proud of giving what they have given to support this kind of “game”. Too many people suffering.. where that money could have done some good. Especially in kids (in general) lives, like education and medical care.
There, i’ve preached my sermon for the week!
@Montana, Sylvia—- from Greta’s-
Here is a fun factoid: since the new launch of GretaWire about 6-8 months ago there have been about 14,000,000 hits!!
(and for a blog I do only myself, that is GIANT!)
——————————————————————————————————————
How many of the above can we give you two credit for?
Adam’s old blog, he gave me credit for being the one who posted 75%- LOL!
————————————————————————————————————–
John-
good point about Obama– If he has even gone on Greta’s blog and read the comments, I think I would think the same– why fuel the fire? LOL
John, I read your post and I think you might be right.
Not an expert at this, but your reason really rings true.
Montana
Susan………I think the reason that Obama is declining Greta’s invitation to be on her show is that he has nothing to gain by doing so. The few times I “visited” over there I’ve noticed that most of her followers/viewers dislike him and are in no way going to reverse their decisions no matter what he has to say. When you have nothing to gain you can only lose………….or at best, break even, So why bother?
Good Luck Montana
Sylvia
Oops, forgot.
Susan, I live in AJ.
Montana.
Good Morning to All.
Nice to see everyone in a pleasant state of mind.
I will be gone a few hours to get some blood tests done so that the doctors can see if I was bit by a Scorpion or Brown Recluse.
Catch you all later, Montana
Greta has a thread about Obama declining to ever come to her show for an interview–
My question is– Is Obama scared of Greta and if so, how is he going to handle the real threats? LOL
Hi all–
Avi– duh to me– I forgot– Your dad practices law in Miami!!!!! So I guess my friend must be in that same area!!
Sylvia– the clock on this blog is on eastern time so it is three hours fast as well– so when I blog in at night keep in mind the difference so it would be three hours earlier here– so yes, I do sleep– LOL– You don’t know this but everyone else here does who knows me– I care for a diabetic with some mental deficiencies so I am up at least till midnight because I give him his background insulin around 11:00 and a snack around midnight to prevent the dawn phenomenon– (low blood sugar)— so for the most part, I am usually up till midnight– and I get up around 7:30– (I don’t sleep at all when this person is sick as his blood sugar becomes erratic as diabetics are insulin resistant when sick or when my dog is having a bad night)—
Now you know my whole life! LOL
Dottie– I need a body lift to go with my face lift!! I sure hope the infection gets cleared up!!!! Sincerely!
Patty– They are supposed to bring the new mattresses today– I can cover the huge spot– Last night I was tearing the closets apart making sure there are no mice inside the house– I have a mess in each room! LOL–
Max– xxxxxx
Sgt- xxxx
John-xxxxx
This is Wednesday and I believe LDG said today is his start of the move— boy do I feel for him!!! LDG– I hope it is not raining today!!
Max,
Israel is on GMT …. not DST…..
KC,
thanks …… July 15
KC…….Blondes and blow torches……..I think you right. There’s a joke there………..give me a few minutes. LOL
John
Just noticed a bit to late that it was socalsurfer that mentioned the fire and not you - Sorry
Guess it is time for a blonde joke right about now!!
John
I heard the 911 call during the night on the fire at Universal Studios. Also heard that they think some construction workers left their blow torch on one of the roofs and that is what started the fire.
Have you heard anything about that???
Good morning all
Dottie, Montana, Sylvia - welcome to the blog - we have sooooo much fun here and also learn quite a lot. I am more of a lurker than a blogger, but I do pop in now and then to make a comment or stir the pot.
Patty - “Giggle” - LMAO - What a weekend!!!!!!!!
LDG - good luck with the move - Know you will be busy for the next few days. Hope the rain lets up and you can keep on schedule.
Avi - Best of luck on your remaining tests - When are you leaving for your visit to Miami??
And since I’ve digressed the blog anyway, this is kind of funny………..
http://www.nypost.com/seven/06042008/news/columnists/what_a_loser___and_she_cant_even_do_that_113924.htm
Back on track……..Adam, could the wireless features of SONOS cause the same security problems that Internet wireless can have? ie- have someone “tap” into your system.
Sylvia: Israel is on DST too.
Interesting, seems like a good part of the world wants Obama to make it………..
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D91399J00&show_article=1&catnum=0
‘morning Adam and All.
John, missed your wit yesterday!
A.P.E.S…ya, that works well for you guys!! Now that you mention it, I do remember that from a previous subject.
Hope all are well.
We slid by lastnights round of severe storms for the 10 plus days in a row.
Forecasters are telling us that thursday’s severe outbreak could be history making. Pretty scary when you live close to tornado alley! Will be nice when this pattern changes and we can take our eye off the sky!
John..
A.P.E.S. is an excellent unit identifier…
LOL
good morning everyone
Max,
We’re on daylight savings time in Ohio, so I guess there is only 6 hours difference now…or is my math wrong as usual?
Adam…………thanks for your kind consideration of me being one of your secretaries…………..but, I must respectfully decline. Not that I’m worried about getting you fired but rather that I’m quite happy being a member of A.P.E.S ( Adam’s Personal Extraction Squad ) and I would rather help you fight off fanatical FARC gunmen or Al Qeada suicide bombers than to have to deal with the mundane tasks of having to follow up on stories like, which half-way house is Britney staying in now, or who did O.J call an M-Fer today.
Sylvia: Israel is 7 hours ahead of EST. So it’s 3:34pm in Israel right now.
Susan: Dottie is right, 3 hours during the summer. So that would be 7pm EST.
I saw the Indianna Jones movie last week, it was my friend’s birthday and he really wanted me to go with him to see it. I thought it was ok, but too flashy and special effect heavy for my tastes.
Dottie,
Montana sent me the picture….really enjoyed seeing you.
Hi Susan…do you ever sleep?
Hi Avi…what’s the time difference in Israel?
Hi Adam
It is storming here in Ohio…and hail is quite loud hitting the sky lights.
Susan,
305 is miami thats the miami area code …… sunshine is north of miami i think ….
Susan, my eyes are looking good, now I need a full face lift.. Not sure iif after the eye operation I got an infection and it ran down to other cavities… Have been on antibiodics and I am still coughing… Will see what the doc says today…. You have a great memory Susan… Had my eyes done in January.
Hi Susan, love to hear more about your special project.
I think we are 3 hours later then you if you are are in the same time zone as California.
The picture with you and Adam is great and I saved it in my pictures…..
305 area code is not near me.. I live central east coast of Florida.
Hillary was not a gracious loser. She ran a great race but she was much too defiant on Obama’s night to shine.Looks like she wants to be in the VP slot.. I do not have a candidate choice.
Dottie
Dottie and Sunshine–
I just checked out my friend’s number on the phone– his area is 305– is this around you two?
xxx
Well Obama did it– I wonder who Hillary is beating up tonight? LOL
Wow–
I just checked out my five thousand posts– I sure make up for lost time!!! LOL
Where is a picture of Adam and socal? Didn’t anyone take pictures that day? grrrr! I want to see the both of you!!!
socal needs to be in the project too!!!
Patty–
thank you! For posting the link for Dottie– and yes, it was Adam who turned us on to that slide show link–
there is the photobucket.com one too– I think you introduced me to this one-
Dottie–
I am not sure what time Jen is going to be here– in the afternoon she said– so I would say around 4:00 AZ time which is what time in Florida? Max– help! (Max is my clock! )
Back to Patty– Don’t you think Dottie, Montana, and Sylvia need to be included in our project?
Dottie- Montana- Sylvia- we have a project going– but it will go full force come July– I need to get you three in on it– so I am going to have to sneak my email address in and let you know about it and see if you three want to participate– so far, most of the regulars here are in!!
And eek!!! My high school friend called and I was outside watering my plants and talking away on the phone, and a mouse ran by– (a field mouse) I am so freaked!!! But after Andrew’s alligator story and his one dog, whom survived, I guess I should not be– but I am still freaked!
Andrew’s dog was in a canal and an alligator almost had him for dinner!! It was that close!! Florida has alligators and AZ has field mice! LOL-
Dottie-
good luck at the doctor’s– eyes? Sounds like you have been to the doctor’s a few times– your earlier post is on top of my comment so I just read how you have been to the doctors- tomorrow is the 3rd one since May–
on TMZdotCOM they have the 911 tape of the first call in of the Universal studies fire. It’s kind a sad because they guy is saying exactly where the fire is but he says its onthe “New York” street. Its not showing up on her screen. Since that isnt a real street the operator isnt really feeling the urgency.
dottie…some of us do slide shows at http://www.slide.com its fairly easy. but if you get there and need help, just come back and ask. its also where adam does his slide shows. i think that is how we found about it.
Susan, I sent one Petra picture to Sylvia, one where the first Indiania Jones was filmed.. The onlky way I know is by email so I would need to know how to take out of my pictures and put on the blog… help!
I know it is all kidding with Adam and you and that is the fun part for sure.
I am anxious to see you and Jen on Sunday… At what time will you post? …..
Dottie
Dottie–
You are way too kind– But truth is this blog would not be anything if it weren’t for ALL of you! Everyone here is special in their own way– and so much personality– My objective is to annoy Adam– and I have come to find out, Adam is pretty tolerant! LOL
LDG and Max are the Kings of trivia– we had a good thing going at one point– trivia questions and boy can LDG and Max come up with some good questions– maybe after LDG gets settled in his new home and we can start up again– it is a lot of fun!!!
Post your Petra pictures!! (when you have time) I would love to see them- and I bet a few of the others here too!!
Montana and Sylvia– any pictures of you two while in AZ? I would love to see them!
xxxxxx
I have pictures of Petra from my Jordan visit.
Montana–
yes– it is easy to be just as bad in the city as in the country!!! LOL!
Adam, this blog would be nothing without Susan..( ~.~ )
LDG good for you a new home….. enjoy…….
Back in 2001 I was up in Victoria B.C.( I live in Florida)
My best friend needed a vacation. So I was in charge of the home for 2 weeks
She took in students who came to her city to learn English and I met the sweetest young lady from Japan. It is one of the countries on my wish list to visit one day.
Nite Nite all
Patty–
Bless you! well then heck, if my mouth spits out a bad word– oops!
Sylvia–
behave? haaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the worse one here!!!!! LOL– Please don’t behave– But I haven’t seen any bad behavior yet from you-
Montana– where in AZ do you live? I remember you said far from here!
Adam– Sylvia would love your Petra pictures–
and BTW all– on Adam’s wine site, there are pictures there– and one of these is Adam dressed up as Elvis– (Halloween with Fox) It was Adam as Elvis when Elvis was still in good shape! go check it out!!
Susan, Jen loves ya just the way you are!!!
Susan,
Are you recording secy for this blog? Do I need to behave? Montana may say that’s not possible.
Montana,
I’ve seen all the Indiana Jones movies…love them.
City Girl gone Country and there is a lot to say for both.
There is a lot to be said for those wild wide open spaces!!!!
lol
For now, Montana
Sylvia, you did not say that you never saw the other Indiana Jones movies?Did you?
@Adam-
and NO SUSAN….you would drive me nuts.
—————————————————————————
I have accomplished this already!!! LOL
Adam–
email me the work you need to be done! I can handle it!!! LOL
XXX
Patty–
I have to get some turpentine or something to take the stain off my hand- I just got it off my left foot– I stepped in the stain when I knocked the can over! Next time remind me to drink a bottle of Adam’s wine when I do a project– my coordination would have been better! LOL-
I am a bit nervous on meeting Jen– to be honest with you! I have to curb my expletives around her! LOL– not sure if Ken can! He is not aware of it when his da**’s and s**t’s just naturally flow when he talks!– oops!!!!
xxx
Back to Adam–
you need to post some Petra pictures– Sylvia just saw the new Indiana Jones movie!~ (secretary me at work here!)
Adam,
yes you would get fired after my influence, but and this is a BIG BUT….they would write songs about us, other journalists would only whisper our names in hushed reverence, there would be global recognition and some countries would declare our birthdays national holidays, there would be urban legends about us, there would be street murals painted of us, millions and millions of people would chant our names over the ultimate fox news stunt….
true, we most likely wouldn’t survive, LDG would be riding shotgun, and the nearest description would be …..”explosive ball of fire brimstone and all out coolness”…yes…we would be legends…
I guess it is good that our powers do not meet.
Sgt Shot,
I’ll give you that one….only because it’s probably true!!!
Patty,
We city girls let nothing slide by!!!
sylvia,
I must say that I enjoyed the city girls as well, of course it took me a few years after high school to realize all of the qualities a city girl has…too many to list, but one quality that city girls had over country girls…city girls couldn’t beat me in an arm wrestle…lol
Sylvia…*LOL* i wondered if that was going to slide by.
Adam…be nice!
(even tho it is your blog and you can do what you want! *L*)
10 stories?? Amazing! Thats major multitasking!
Well all, had a great time today, really miss you all when i get too busy to enjoy. Have a GREAT evening and stay safe!!!
I get to play hookie tomorrow and stay home with a 8 yr old.
*digging out the bandaids for my thumbs*…..Xbox here we come!!
i usedto buck hay in HS. used to drive the hay truck to peoples places and pile that hay 20ft high and more.
Sgt Shot,
We city girls resent that remark….LOL
patty,
LOL…I am 6′4 and I have never weighed more than 215 even after “bulking up” in the army…i am back to my 185 and fast. i could throw a bail in my day or a 1000. I think I could still gram lift and throw, out of simple muscle memory.
And those country girls were the funnest to date, not only could they run barefoot through the grass and chug beer, but they always seemed to be a lot cuter than the city girls.
yep, its those skinny ones you gotta look out for!!! Our kids were all thin and 6 ft in high school. They could throw a bale of hay farther than the big brutes. Especially our one daughter, look out, she’d kick any boys “tail” and out work him outside but geeeze dont ask her to do the dishes or dust!*L*
here is my addition to tech tuesday. a hand held DLP HD projector
.http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/03/foxconn-shows-off-pint-sized-pd-s2900-dlp-projector/
Patty,
We really enjoyed the movie. Of course it helped that we had seen all the other Indiana Jones movies.
Adam…working on any particular story, or you get a few days off since you worked the weekend?
Patty-
Working around 10 stories right now. Tough. I need a secretary and NO SUSAN….you would drive me nuts.
as would a few others on this blog. John and the Sarge would get me fired likely, but I would be safe.
Adam
I grew up working a farm and I can tell you this….i was so grateful when school started back up again so I could actually get some sleep, have some time off and be a loafer again.
whew…those were the days, I still think that is the reason I was a wiry teenager, I wiry adult and now a wiry 30 something…wiry is the term to us skinny farm kids that only look weak…I can still bounce an ogre around a bar room if needed.
Sylvia,, wow, you’ve had your share of scary weather also.
Was the movie worth it? Im looking forward to seeing it.
sgt…i always like the kids home all summer, it was a nice distraction from all the dairy and farming stuff. Although come sept. i was begging for the school to unlock the doors! *L*
Patty,
I’m in Ohio.
