Another Rerun?

It doesn’t seem that long ago.

It all began one early fall morning on a street corner in Hollywood, our camera’s across the street from Paramount Studios as writers hit the picket lines. At the time, no one could have known that 100 days, 37,000 jobs and more than 2-billion dollars later, the strike would be over. We mentioned at the time the possibility that actors may be in the same situation, now we have arrived at the time.

Error
This video doesn’t exist

The issue seems simple, but there’s a bit of a curve ball involved. Simply put, the actors want future and new media rights and compensation, more money for actors making less than $100,000 a year and a stronger pension. Negotiations with SAG (The Screen Actors Guild) are going nowhere, but the other and smaller actors union AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), has signed a deal that is currently being voted on. SAG leaders are urging people to oppose the deal because they feel a better deal can be reached. Currently 44,000 men and women are members of both unions, with results of the vote expected in about 7 days.

Meantime, the SAG contract expires tonight and leaders say they haven’t even called for a strike vote yet. Studio heads at this point say television production will go on and movies are wrapping up. Will new ones begin to shoot?

How long will shows shoot without a contract? Can the two unions work together? All these questions and many others are yet to be answered. Some actors are already taking sides, while others like George Clooney are calling for unity.

So today, we sit in Culver City. Sony Studios seems busy as normal, but the looming possibility of a strike has everyone passing by asking us what we think will happen and others worry about another stoppage and more lost wages…within the industry and many jobs indirectly supported on the outside.

Adam

Just heard about this – another strike — unbelievable

As a side note, how can we discuss this issue or any other when we cannot get anything to post for hours??? Are you getting closer to the solution??

Comment by Sylvia

I have little sympathy for actors who are mostly over paid and have giant egos. Let them get a real job like most hard working Americans.

Comment by Karen 2 (K2)

Adam, your closing remarks are the most important…… how many hundreds of people will lose their jobs because of the strike?

Perhaps the union leaders and members should think about the ramifications of their decision.

And, to jump on the bandwagon…..sure do miss the automatic posting…….. Hope it is back soon.

Comment by Greg

They shouldn’t get anything more. SAG obviously has a bloated opinion of itself(as indeed, many actors themselves do!!!!), and they should quit whining and be happy for what they DO have, which is so much more than most americans!

Comment by Patty

I would like to think if i made 100 grand a year, let alone a pension, that i wouldnt complain!
but thats just from where i sit.

Comment by Kathy in Texas

These two unions have never gotten along. I mean it has been the Hatfields and McCoys. Normally you had to make a choice which union with your first job to go with.

SAG in the past has been willing to sit out a very long time, most of them are poor anyway. I just can’t seeing the SAG bigwigs giving in and losing potential revenue.

Burn Notice and Psyche haven’t even premiered! Rotten timing I tell you. But then again SAG would have the upper hand. Adam have the pilots and the 13 episode shows starting taping yet?

Comment by Susan--AZ

I was gone all day– who in Hollywood makes less than 100 grand a year? Someone who plays a small part here and there? I will fill in if that is the case for 80 grand a year!! LOL

Well– As long Psych and Monk don’t go on strike as their new season starts, I am happy with watching my DVD’s I haven’t watched as I buy them and then don’t watch them!

@Adam– in response to your post on the preceding thread-

@Adam

Contrary to some claims, there isn’t some dude dressed in black reading everything and then deciding what goes up. Got that John!

You like Psych too? I LOVE Gus and Shawn!!! LOL According to my tele, they will start the new season here in July.

Avi-

while in New York, go visit the techs there and show them how to fix this! LOL

Comment by Brad

I dont really care that much for the current movie and tv shows, it seems as the years go by, they become of lesser quality. That is why when the Writers Strike took place earlier this year, it didnt affect me one bit. Because i dont watch much of the programs anymore. FoxNews is basically all i watch.

Plus most of the Hollywood actors are rich overpriced liberals, that take pleasure in badmouthing thre Bush Adminitration. So why should i reward them by watching any of their movie and film projects?

Comment by Brad

Kathy-

Was the The Dead Zone recently cancelled? I was flipping the channels recently and saw it on another network, other than USA. Just wondering.

Comment by Patty

Susan, you and me can go earn that 100K…split it, and maybe even get Jen a date on the side! *L* (shhh don’t tell her rob!)
Where do we sign up? I could use the pay raise!

“morning everyone.

Sorry Adam, I dont take the tech’s explanation either. We’ve always had “odd characters” and managed instant posting. ie: John, Sgt. etc. *L*

You have spoiled us with the blog, so its your fault we are suffering from dt’s, which in turn leads to whining! But we’re still here. We can be as stubborn as the techs or word press!
Heck, maybe there is a puter geek standing in line with the actors that needs a job!!!

Comment by Max Kon

Brad: I loved the first series of the dead zone. But it was hard for me to catch so i’ve not seen it for a while.

I’m the same about the TV shows and movies though, i don’t watch much other than Fox News. But i keep finding that my favorite comedians are Republicans though. Like Adam Sandler.

Comment by Avi

Slyvia,

Not all actors make millions of millions of dollars. Its no easy fit being an actor…… its not as easy at it looks….. If it werent for actors alot of what we see on T.V. and in the theaters wouldnt be what they are and such an argument can be made for anything else. Having no empathy for them and their cause is just bitter and wrong . They work HARD just like my dad does as a lawyer and as hard as you do at whatever you do. Some of us just make more for what we do and they do and they deserve it.

Susan,

We all should get US special forces to take over World Press/ FOX news Blogs and fix this problemo lets see if it happens again ;) …….

I think–only think, Adam meant by your name being a link, and maybe all the other names in blue too, that there is a link behind the blue, so these have to checked out too– You know to see someone isn’t like maybe posting some vulgarity behind their name–

Good thing I stopped doing my name in blue– awhile back, I was finding out to use expetives in other languages and then doing the blue thing with my name posting the site. LOL

Well, here we go again – this blog has been at 15 comments since 6:00am this morning, and it is now 8:13am (my time) Curious to see how long it takes for this to appear on the blog. I also do not agree with the explanation given about links, signs, etc.. and that is why everything goes into a hopper to be “manually read”. Does not make sense when instant posting appears on another blog which is filled with links, signs, and vulgarity. Oh well, maybe someday we will be able to talk with each other and discuss issues at hand.

Good morning everyone

Were there fires too a couple weeks ago in this area?

Topic related–

Wages– I think correspondents and those who go out on a limb to do a job which is dangerous and or to save lives should be making way more than 100 grand a year! So if Hollywood is wailing about not making more than this, go try doing one of these jobs at half the salary!

Kudos to Greg!

Maybe cars can run on beer. That could solve the oil crisis.

Comment by Patty

Avi…you’ll have a hard time selling me on those wages. I’ve worked my fingers to the bone, litterally, 24/7 milking cows, working 180 acres of crop ground, eating the dirt on tractors without cabs, living pay check to the next bank visit for a loan to run the rest of the season. Aslo working full time as a waitress at $3 /hr + tips and being a mom of 4. Im sorry, but 100K seems like heaven!
At the same time, I also wouldnt change a thing i’ve done. It has taught me that worth isnt always attached to a $ sign, a appreciation for the land, and tolerance!

Comment by Sylvia

Avi,
You are probably the only person who thinks actors deserve the mega salaries they make. If they go on strike they hurt the people behind the scenes who do not make enormous salaries. I feel sorry for those people who lose pay because the actors strike. Yes , I enjoy theater (those actors work for scale), some movies, and some TV shows, but I think actors need to think about how their decisions affect others in the industry.

Comment by Susan--AZ

But in all fairness to actors– they do work hard– day and night– seven days a week–

I like Tom Hanks and Anthony Hopkins!! I think these guys are great actors–

Comment by Kathy in Texas

Wow I am going to answer like you can read this right now. There is nothing else I can do.

Important Dates to remember:

Burn Notice – July 10 at 9 pm

The Closer – July 14 at 8 pm

Monk – July 18 at 8 pm

Psych – July 18 at 9 pm

This schedule is CST, the reason I am posting this these shows, and The Shield and Rescue Me all film at a different time so they will be safe for the season. Usually summer is the taping time they used to film some in June when the seasons are longer. Now I think they film after July 4th. There are only thirteen episodes so it doesn’t take as long.

The Dead Zone and 4400 both went to syndication on the SciFi channel. Which has some interesting shows from time to time and I rarely like SciFi.

I feel sorry for Adam, he really should have his own blog courtesy of FNC. Adam is more than just a reporter, he is a techie and a blogger in every sense. It has to be hard for him to be able to blog but he is unable to with these problems.

So other than the shows I have said and reality TV most big shows like Boston Legal will be shut down unless this strike doesn’t happen.

I am a Psych fanatic, as well as Burn Notice and Monk, some nice eye candy on a couple of those shows. So much that the list you see my friend wrote up for me and her mom. We adore those shows. Friday night football is tough juggle too!

Oh money the Average yearly income when I was actively acting was like $500 a year. It may be more but the majority of the members of SAG don’t make a lot. They have a scale they pay by, you get so much per word or sentence. Which is why you see actors arguing over how many lines they get. They all started out begging for words, most of them don’t speak.

Comment by Tamera Mowry

Sylvia,

I agree with Avi. AS an actor myself, I highly couldn’t disagree more with your statements. Why can’t they get a real job you say?! Obviously, you have NEVER shot a drama! LOL! You try working 16 hours a day! Yep you read right 16 hours A day on your feet! The normal is 9 to 5 right? And on top of that try working that long then coming home to raise a family . It takes 9 days to shoot one hour of your enjoyment on TV. What YOU SEE is the final product. Its a lot harder than you think. Additionally, you have to realize that our job is not as stable as the the norm. So, it may seem like a lot of money in one pop. But one actor may not work EVER again in 2 years, 3 years, etc. When they get old, fat, etc. Also, NOT ALL ACTORS get the Will SMITH and ANGELINA JOLIE salaries.

But speaking of Will SMITH, you also have to take into consideration how much the producers, studios, and networks are making off of our talent. When Will Smith; the talent, makes studios over 2 billion dollars. YEP two billion off of him. He’s salary is just a small part of that. Oh and by the way on feature films you work LONGER! I encourage you to take one acting class for a month and then come back and try make a LIVING off of it. Not easy, Very hard. To top it off, and not to say the least, we constantly deal with rejection and the scrutiny of others. In a FISH BOWL. But hey I love what I do, and I know there will always be people of the public including you who like to escape reality for awhile and go see a movie. In a way, you need us entertainers:)

Hope I gave you a new outlook on our field.

xoox

Tamera,

How many nurses make 100,000/year? They work hard, are under staffed, and deal with life/death situations. I am not a nurse, but I’m just trying to explain to you and Avi that it is hard to be sympathetic to actors who want to strike for more money. What would people do if nurses went on strike?

Good Morning all…..or, should I say Good Afternoon (as it will probably be this long before you see the post)

Susan, Yes, humor like Monk. Tune in to Burn Notice on July 10th – 9 p.m. CST
It is about a covert agent who gets relieved of his job (burn notice) and has no clue as to why……access to his money and ID have been blocked. He is searching for the person(s) who ‘burned’ him.

Tamera, excellent post. Looking forward to your upcoming work.

Comment by Kathy in Texas

Tamera,

That was my point as well the average income of my actors is very low in a place where housing is way to high for most people. I went to LA in a week I figured out I loved Texas too much, and having my life with stability. I am glad I went on vacation there, but I could never see myself dealing with all that drama.

Good morning!

My name is blue as WordPress would no longer post the abandoned airport site, a site I was quite proud of. My dad had built one of the airports on that site in the 1940’s and taught people how to fly for WW11, while my mom ferried planes from the factory to where they were needed for the war.

He built airport number 2 on that site, so I grew up with airports, airplanes and all aspects of general aviation that were featured on that page. I worked the airports with my family throughout my childhood, and those airports enabled me to retire early, raise and college educate my two children, as well as travel the world with them.

So in my eyes, airplanes are not freaky, but a legacy to my father of who I am quite proud!

Comment by Avi

Sylvia,

your comparing two different things in life and society. Your point about nurses going on strike can be made just about everything. What would happen if all lawyers or news reporters went on strike. How many nurses make 100k dunno and dont really care to know. Your not in the right thinking mode. Your point from what im understanding is socialist and liberal complaining about other peoples wealth. Tamera for example isnt your Angelia Joliee make hundreds of millions of dollars. She deserves every single penny for working as an actress. Every profession has its salary respectfully. You might be looking at those who are well off with a scornful eye which is your right and its also your right to critize them when they want more. A nurse isnt a an actress and a lawyer isnt a garbage man. Its like apples and oranges two different things to different tastes but still part of the same family. My dad works hard for a living from 8 30 or 9 till 8-9pm sometimes. Im sure Tamera works late as well as she said. well off people are well off because they worked hard for it. Tamera didnt just walk up one day to become a fortunate actress she worked hard and it paid off. I dont like when people talk bad about well off people when they want more money….. they deserve it they work hard and it shouldnt be questioned. Also well of people have families to feed and bills to pay. They make the right decisions so they can maintain their wealth. Attacking someone for their wealth is disgusting and it just sad …. it shows jeliousy… Dont attack someone if you dont know what they do and how hard they work.

Actresses are one thing Nurses are another. You cant compare the two and the work involved in them. Just like you can say garbage should get paid like lawyers or CEO’s.

People chose their life paths and people have to work hard to get somewhere in life. When you feel your under paid then a strike is what needs to be done. Just look here at Israel all high school teachers were on strike for 2months this year to demand more money. They deserved it as they were very poorly paid.

the average writer still makes (about) US$5,000 a year writing, and a few handfuls make US$1,000,000+…

I am told by friends who came and went in acting that it is *worse* in that field…

So if you need a rationalization, rather than a justification: something like 1 person in a million population in the U.S.A. is paid superstar wages for art… about the same as in Pro Sports… or the CEO level in big business…

…and as was cited above, the capital/corporations behind each of those salaries makes 10~100 times as much in revenues off the talent, minimum.

see? I can be on topic as well as make another test post… which this is. Any bets it clears the mod cue before the ‘blog clock turns 1400hrs?

Comment by Susan--AZ

Brad–

thanks for the heads up on the firefox!! And when I have an issue, I appreciate your help!

Hi Tamera–

yes– as I said–you all work long and hard hours– I think maybe part of the argument here was how others also work those long hours and do not receive the just compensations– I am for those who do jobs whom put their lives out to protect us getting more pay– the cops in New York are one of the lowest paid– I read about Judy Garland when she was filming The Wizard of OZ was on diet pills to make her lose weight and then on sleeping pills to make her sleep and she was so young–Plus she had a very pushy mother and then look at her life after this– And yes– lots of pressure! I think when you were filming Sister Sister, you were also in school so you had to do your studies as well!

I totally understand those 16 hours of being on your feet– when I went back to College, I would take the early morning classes and then head off to the restaurant where I worked at to do doubles– I would get there at 11:00 and be out of there by 11:30 that evening to get home and study– So I would average about four hours sleep. I sure don’t miss these days!!!

And I love entertainment– And we, the people, keep the industry going! LOL

Sylvia– lots of nurses on my mother’s side– and yes, they do work long hours!!! And when they are understaffed, they have to fill in– Ken’s niece was a nurse- she couldn’t handle it– She left the profession a couple years ago– the stress got to her. When Ken was in a nursing home, there was one nurse to the floor and one nurses’s assistant– and on the floor there were about 30 plus patients– Plus all the paper work which had to be filled out! ER doctors sometimes don’t even sleep! (reference to your husband).

So I guess, many professions deserve recognition! LOL

Comment by Karen 2 (K2)

Sylvia – Nurses DO go on strike! But, since the hospitals they work in are there to care for the sick and injured, the hospitals call in replacement nurses. These traveling nurses can make over $100,000 per year!

I agree with Avi and LDG, it is only the select few who make the BIG $$$$ working in the entertainment field, much like pro-sports players.

Comment by Sylvia

Avi,
I am neither liberal or socialistic…only realistic. I personally don’t care what people make. I don’t even care if actors strike. I just think actors don’t realize that strikes hurt people behind the scenes who don’t make the big bucks. And I am not jealous of those who bring in the big bucks. I am quite comfortable in my life. I just think there are more important issues than actors’ salaries.

Please don’t put down garbage men! The one I know is Wayne Huizinga who started out on Chicago’s south side and continued to being owner of Waste Management, The Miami Dolphins, Blockbuster Video among a few other “lemonade stands” – so don’t compare garbage men to lawyers, it’s an insult to to garbage men.

I think how these differences in opinion here is not so much at how little some of the people in the entertainment industry gets paid but when some of us read about these going on strike because of the dollar amount posted- 100 grand– this is where we got focused on our commments– LOL

So maybe we didn’t focus in on the whole picture– via Tamera, LDG’S comments–

Just my thought! LOL

KC–

Ditto to the ruffling of the mane!!! I love watching lions in their habitat!

how about some levity? Speaking of strikes and garabage, did anyone see the episode in Monk when the garbage men went on strike? Boy was Monk freaking!

I think how the writers for this show are totally creative– taking an obsessive-compulsive disorder and turning it into satire- As I think many of us may have a bit of this– mine is color– I have to have colors running in harmony when I decorate– and pictures have to make sense when I hang them on the wall! Howard Hughes was germs! and blah and blah! LOL

I think we are all actors in our own way– we have to behave accordingly in certain situations where maybe we would not– so we act! LOL

yooo hooo dare I try it…posting in real time!

I see both sides I think what Sylvia is saying to a point is there is a lot of things more newsworthy than that story to her. And I get that, I refuse to buy magazines like People, US the like. I want my money and effort to be spent on real things. That is not to say when I see the latest Enquirer or Star I don’t stop and read the Cover:D

And Tamera being in the business, is truly thinking long term about future earnings. I get both sides.

Okay lets hold hands and sing kum by ya! (well I tried)

Susan, you are right about the focus on the 100 grand. But now it seems to be getting personal. Seems that Sylvia is taking the brunt of what many of us said.

Avi, you have lots of “living” to do before you can preach to anyone about $$’s, IMO. I hope as you do that “living”, your idea of a “perfect world” still exists, but I think you will find out that the hard knocks of life will teach you way more than any book or bank account balance can teach you.
I don’t know Sylvia from JoeSmoe, but I would like to think she isn’t as shallow as you want to tell her she is. That wasn’t what her post said at all. At least when I read it. I didn’t see Sylvia show any disrespect.

Not everyone’s life is as easy as you want to make it sound. Many of us were not born with a silver spoon so to speak. Yes we choose our own paths, but many times the variables along that path could never be plotted out, as you will find out in a few years.
God knows I would have chosen the other fork in the road had i known that the one i choose is where we lost a child. Sadly, no u-turns are allowed. So now, as we travel, there isn’t much that matters, truly, life s*cks, I hope you never know that feeling. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. It doesn’t matter if you are “well off” as you say, or dirt poor, when a child has been lost, so has your purpose. What does matter is that we treat all people with compassion. That is the one thing that Kathy’s death taught us. Because when there is compassion, all other forms of hurtful thinking disappear.
Now, if you can tell me that 100 grand will bring back our daughter, then i will stand in line and beg for it. Since I am pretty sure you can’t, then i don’t give a rats @ss what anyone else has. My life has enough drama of its own to waste time wanting someone else’s life style.
Just say’in, maybe before you judge Sylvia, as I fell you have, you should understand a little more about life and the experiences gained from it.

Different strokes for different folks– Point– it to respect everyone for what they do when they work hard to have a good life- whether it is hanging out on a yacht or just taking the row boat out! No one is better or bigger– just different in their accomplishments– Honesty can not be bought! But arrogance can! LOL

Sylvia,

By the way, I do know nurses who make 80,000 to 100,000 a year. And yes traveling nurses are SOME of them. Oh and FYI actors have to pay agents 10% plus managers 15% of all their salaries. That’s 25% plus the 1/3 that goes to the government! Some of us are in the hugher tax bracket! You add that up and see whats left!!!!!!. Where are you from? Just wondering. You also have to take into consideration that most actors in the business need publicists who we have to pay 2500 up to 4500 a month! And we need all three in my field. There is no way around it.

Avi, your the best:) I think if we all look at this situation through Avi’s eyes we will not be as narrow minded on the issue.

Sylvia, your simply just not getting the point. And you never will because your not an actress. I think the best way to debate this issue is to have empathy on both sides. Yes, we should strike and yes we should do it quickly so our wonderful grips, electricians, etc. can get paid and move on to making wonderful TV show, movies, etc. It’s unfortunate that others will be hurt in the process, but I think its naive to think our world doesn’t operate this way. I can think of many positive situations where because of one positive event, there might be a negative linked somehow. Sometimes, we have to do what we have to do. For example, although I think the war in Iraq is needed, think of all the civilians, children, etc. who are either killed or being negatively effected by it! So, should we not be at war because of the latter?

And to make assumptions that actors in general don’t care about the people behind the scenes is completely untrue. Do you personally know any actors? I consider myself a successful actress and know many who aren’t anything like you depict. You are entitled to your opinions, but I sense you don’t view actors as important or equal as other professions and that’s were your issues are embedded. We are all the same, we just chose different fields. Different fields make different money;) We all work hard for the money we earn. Unfortunately, in the eyes of people like you; actors, painters, writers, dancers anything creative, etc. is seemed as the lesser. And in my eyes that is just as bad as what you are applying actors to be; that we don’t work hard and that we don’t care about our actions. Don’t judge based on a few bad apples. Judge character off of experience.

Hope that helped
Love you all.
And don’t forget my new show ROOMMATES on ABC family this fall;)

Patty,
I am so sorry about the loss of your child. Nothing will ever ease that kind of pain and my heart goes out to you.
I appreciate you standing up for me, but don’t worry about me. I can handle a teenager who has never really experienced life. We all have our own problems life throws at us, some have more than others. I hope Avi has an easy, happy life where everything goes his way. I hope he never experiences the loss of a loved one who’s life is cut way too short. Most of us don’t have that luxory. Many of us started out with nothing, got an education, and made it the hard way. The things we have to work the hardest for are more rewarding than those things that are handed to us. This generation doesn’t start from nothing…..their parents are wealthier than my parents and my husband’s parents were, and many things are taken for granted.
So when I say I don’t care about the actors’ strike it’s because it is so minor in comparison to what goes on in the world. Avi just needs to experience the real world to get better perspective.

Tamera,
I am from Ohio and people I know in the midwest cannot relate to show business problems. Many Ohioans do not make salaries even close to what actors make. I’m sure you are a very nice person. You need to realize though that many people are not sympathetic to actors striking. Maybe actors need to get the word out about all their expenses and perhaps people will understand the situation.
By the way the average American household income is approxtmately $60,000/year.

Adam – this story is only somewhat interesting. lol not sure who to feel sorry for. It’s like “which came first …the chicken or the egg”, one could argue that without the great actors the story wouldn’t make a good movie/show but you could also argue that without the stories we’d have no need for actors. :-) I think I’m pulling for the writers (even though I hate most of the cra# the put out). Actually, I’m pulling for all the “little people” who’s jobs will be effected by a strike!

I guess you guys saw what happened to that 12 year old girl, what a tragic ending. Its really sad that a poor helpless girl could have her life taken from her for a madman. They just found her decomposing body earlier this evening. Its really disgusting that a family member could do such a horrific thing. If you cant trust your family these days, then who can you trust? What is this world coming to?

Comment by Brad

I cant fathom how helpless and selfish people can be, leaving that lady in the hospital, neglecting her for 24 hours. She was in need of emergency help, and nobody bothered even to lend a helping hand. That is exactly why i try and avoid hospitals, i would rather go to a alternative medicine clinic. Its a whole lot safer over there.

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. I didnt know Adam Sandler was a conservative. Thanks for the heads up, i might actually go and see more of his movies. He is a really talented guy, cowriting and producing all of this projects.

I have seen that runtime error message before, but only when i use internet explorer, i also get a message telling you that an error has occured, and my computer has to restart over again. I think its the websites you visit, plus your browser. You need to either upload Firefox(if you havent already), plus Safari. Those two will keep you safe.

From my experience, those rumtime error message usually happen when there are too many programs running in your computer’s hard drive. That is why you need to delete the “cookies” from your browser. Refer back to my previous message for details.

And if you go to those social networking site, those contain a ton of viruses, commonly found in thoe backgrounds and layouts. If you have one, i recommend deleting it immediately.

But if you must, you should go with Yahoo360, its really good.

I dont think it will conflct with your Anti Virus software, but if you download a firewall system, that might be a problem.

I prefer you go with the Norton Anti Virus System. It costs a lot, but its really effective in preventing phishing, identity theft, and other bad things that can happen to your computer. It gives you alerts when it detects a virus on a website you are visiting, not to mention when you have updates that you need to upload for your computer.

Firefox also tells you when it blocks pop up ads from websites you visit too, so its a good browser to stick with. It doesnt take very long to download, so i hope you will decide to do it soon.

Susan: *starts jumping up and down*. It may well help McCain, have to see what congress does when it returns from recess. As long as the focus is on the military opperations, and not the aligations of Columbia paying for their release, assuming they are false. A showing of military force accomplising something diplomacy never did really supports his message and undermines Obama’s.

Brad: Sandler was supporting Rudi, he’s definately Republican, but i’m not sure how conservative.
Grammer is supporting McCain. I think because of the animous towards Republicans among hollywood elite a lot of these actors were supporting the Republicans quietly in the past, but since McCain is a moderate Republican they’ve seen this as a chance to oppenly support the Republicans without being branded as far right.

Having not seen recent episodes of the Dead Zone i’d have to guess it suffered in a similar way to the X-files, as the series progressed the mystery of the backstories were slowly reveiled, which removed a lot of the mystery and suspence found in the early seasons. And then also the story lines began to rely to heavily on the viewers knowlage of past episodes to fully make sense. Is that what happened to Dead Zone or not?

Comment by Brad

Max-

I guess that is the way it is, when you are a famous Hollywood star, and a conservative, you cant even open your mouth and speaking your mind, for fear of retrabution and paycheck from the far left elitists. I guess that was what happened with the late Charlton Heston, i heard he was blacklisted because changed sides.

I believe Ric Flair and Curt Schilling are a couple of conservative republicans. I am a bigger fan of them, now i know they share some of my views.

Correct me if i am wrong, but I also believe Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune is another example.

I dont know, i really havent watched the final seasons of the Dead Zone, so i cant say. But i do know they killed off a couple of the major characters after the creator passed away. I dont know if it led to the shows demise, but its one of those mysteries of life we may never know.

Btw, if you are a X-Files fan, you definately should check out this guys site. Its very informative, he has info on Hawaii Five-0 also. I guess those are two of the his favorite programs.

Brad: Being in England we’re never had that channel. I had to watch the Dead Zone on SciFi. What were those other shows like? Any good?

I first watched X-files last summer, my friend and I were going to try and watch all of them, but we got bored in season 5. Too many “funny” episodes, and the mistery had begun to fade.

My favorite TV show was Married With Children. I’ve no idea about the Politics of Ed O’Neil, but since he’s never spoken out about his politics he could well be a conservative. ;)
Either that or he respects the politcal process.

Re the Volcano, was it a lava stream or an exploding one?
Personally i find the streams far more beautiful than one that’s exploding. Which is good considering how safe they are. Unless you fall into the stream you’re pretty much safe. They are very slow, so there’s no sudden splashes. I remember video of the volcano eruption in the congo and they showed how people were still living in their home when lava was coming down the street from the other end, but it moves so slowy they were waiting there and if it got past stakes they’d put in the side of the road they’d start to pack, but they had already being waiting several days, the stream was moving at a spead of 1 inch an hour, so they felt safe waiting to see if the lava would stop before it got to their hut.

Sci Fi is owned by USA Network, that is probably the reason why it was airing on that channel.

Check out the internet movie database for more info on those shows:

I just recently saw that actress in the Huntress in a sitcom called My Boys.

I remember Married with Children, that was one oft he first sitcoms on the Fox network, besides The Simpsons.

Ed O’Neill has been a very successful character actor since then, i remember seeing him in a dozen tv shows movies after that. He recently did a commericial for ATandT. He also recently starred in a remake of the old cop show Dragnet, but with little success, because it was cancelled halfway through the season.

I guess when a successful actor doesnt speak up about his political beliefs, its safe to assume he is a conversative :)

Do you happen to remember Hawaii Five-0? That was one of the longest running police dramas in the US, until Law and Order passed it.

I guess you have visited Hawaii many times, since you seen very familiar with the island. I believe it was a lava stream. I read that many residents who live down there are plagued with VOG, which is sulfur dioxide in the air. Its very similar to what the folks in California are experiencing, with all the pollutants in the air. Not to mention all those wildfires burning up in the mountains.

Max-

I also noticed a couple of the screenwriters from Married With Children doing Disney Channel tv shows. I wonder if its because they arent in demand anymore?’

Brad: No, i’ve never been to Hawaii. And i don’t think i’ve ever seen Hawaii Five-O. At least not an entire episode if i did.
Just so you know i’m 19 so most of these shows i only saw on re-runs in the UK.
Also when i was a little kid i watched a lot on Discovery Channel, they used to have things like ‘Volcano Month’ so i learnt a lot about volcanos there, and my elemtry school was near the Natural History Museum here, so my mother took me there every friday (yay dinosaurs!) and they have a great exhibit on volcanic activity. I’ve only been around Europe and the east coast of the US.

Cover Me sounds like the best of those 3, at least for me.

Re Writers: maybe making fun of the discfunction of the consequences of the culture hollywood promotes got them out of favor with most directors.

X-files: If my friend wants to see it i will probably go with him.

I’ve heard of Wilford Brimley, but i’m not sure if i’ve seen anything with him in, at least not knowingly.

Hey Max-

I have visited Hawaii many times, and its a place i am hoping to go there and live one of these days. The weather is kind of hot and humid, but you kind of get used to it after a while. I guess its a whole lot better than freezing cold tempuratures.

If you ever get a chance to visit there, but sure to stay away from the tourist trap, and savor some of the local culture and food.

You definately need to check out that site i posted for you in a previous post.

http://www.mjq.net/

It gives you an extensive listing to all the episodes of Hawaii 5-0.

Also check on Youtube, and search for that show. They have some awesome clips you may be interested in.

I also found this site while on google. its the news channel for Hawaii, and they have full episodes available for you to watch on streaming video. Check it out here:

http://kgmb9.com/main/content/view/6134/209/

After you cut and paste this link, go to the right hand corner where it says classics, and click on Hawaii 5-0.

A lot of tv programs on the air right now all mostly reality shows. I dont see what is the fasination with them. They are so fake, they are just like tv dramas, written by screenwriters, and staged to make it look spontaneous. I can even tell you the formula that is used in those, just by watching them frequently.

I really think Cover Me should have been given a 2nd chance. USA Network didnt even let the show develop and have a fan base. It would have been more successful if they did so.

I dont really know who Wilford Brimley is either, if you watch Red Eye during the late night hours on FoxNews. The host mentioned that he was a supporter of John McCain. I did some searching on imdb and other sites, and it turns out he used to act in those famous television western movies back in the day.

Brad: I’m about to go to bed, so i’m going to check out and comment on all you suggested i do in the morning.
Hawaii: At least it rarely gets over 90 there. And if i were to go there i think i’d spend most of my time looking at the natural wonders. Maybe one afternoon at the beach, but most beaches are pretty much the same.
Wilford: Yes, Redeye is where i first heard of him. Tomorrow morning long comment!

I saw the intro to Hawaii 5-O on youtube and it looks good, but it won’t let me watch on the CBS viewer.

I don’t know why people like reality shows, maybe people like to point and think “at least my life isn’t that bad”.

Max-

When i first discovered the Hawaii 5-0 link i gave you, i wa able to watch certains clips of it. But now i cant. I wonder if the site is having technical difficulties? Maybe you should try another browser, instead of internet explorer, use Firefox or Safari. Just a suggestion.

I guess reality shows are entertaining to watch at 3am in the morning, when you are half asleep, and dont really have anything else to do. But i can find a ton more things i could do that is much more productive than that.

No one should compare on how much one person is earning against the other person. Each one of us chooses our profession and we have the right to disagree with management if we think we are not getting the pay we deserve.

If the actors chooses to go on strike and the other profession that are associated with the actors profession are affected…guess what…these people (grip handlers, makeup, etc) chosed to be in that field. This is not the first strike that ever happened to Hollywood and not the first strike that ever happened in the US. Nurses goes on strike, sports players goes on strike, even Janitors here in Northern California just recently went on strike.

If anyone of you thinks that actors are being overpaid…all you have to do is stop watching any television, movies, plays, etc. But we all choose to be entertain by these professionals…they do not work for free…they have to get paid. If you think Will Smith does not deserve the $20 million per movie that he earns…stop contributing to his paycheck by stop watching his moves.

I am not in the entertainment industry…but one thing i know…no matter what work we all do…we all work to earn a living. Some work harder to achieve better jobs, better pay. Some are happy where they are…It is all a matter of choice. So to people who are whining…quit complaining…if you want to make over $100k per year…work hard, go to school.

Although on the tub, it suggests you can (should) use Muscle Milk post workout, I would not necessarily recommend this. Increase in…
