Tech Tuesday….the Belkin Cooling Stand
I actually found this at one of the so-called big box stores. For a few months I have been meaning to buy one, but it became one of those items always meant to be purchased, but never really remembered. So, when I stumbled across it, I snapped it up and took it home for a test drive. I have to say, I am very happy with the unit and several of my colleagues have purchased one as well. If you use a MAC, you know what I mean when I say it gets pretty darn hot. I used PC’s also, and some models heat up when used top the point that it burns to the touch. These cooling contraptions are starting to fill the market and not only do they save your legs/lap/desktop, but they will extend the life of your computer as well. Now the Belkin is the only one I have bought for myself and I have seen/used several others on occasion. This unit is light, and easy to pack. Here is the company description. Also…feel free to throw any of your tech questions at me, whether they involve this unit or any other thing. I should mention the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand comes with a one year warranty and can be purchased in stores and online between $29 and $39.
COMPANY DESCRIPTION: The Laptop Cooling Pad’s unique patented wave design prevents your laptop from overheating. It uses natural convection to enhance fan cooling, and ensures low power consumption via your laptop’s USB port. It requires no bulky power adapters.
Tech Tuesday hu?
So Adam, do you know how to “fix” a blog that went on strike for no reason and wont post comments in real time?
teeheehee
*waving* Hi everyone!
Patty-
That is not very funny!
IF….that blog was controlled by me….I could and would fix it!
Adam
Adam, We got my dad a cooling stand similar to this one…he likes it. It definitely helps!
Adam…re: iweb..i don’t do mac, but maybe this would help?
http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=373999
Go figure, I have a tech problem here. The video won’t play on my MacBook Pro – hi anyway!
ill let my dad know about it
Iit makes you think, is the latest in technology always worth the trouble of buying? Take the i phone for example, it had so many glitches its impossible to even use properly.
what up with the fan…. im reading that it aint soo long lasting proof …. lol
Avi-
It has a year warranty. So for $39, lasting a year would be fair I guess.
Adam
Adam…. just pickin on ya
I thought after 4+ days of not posting, i should make the first one back a good one!!!!
btw…welcome back Becky!
Yo Adam–
what is with not showing us more of your home? Where is Milano? Now you are at the Fox News channel sound booth? Dang– I am still waiting to see a video of dirty dishes and wilted plants!
Patty– you are the best!
Hi Becky!!!! I just checked out your blog– very cool and the one picture I recognize! LOL
I was emailing my good friend Patty about how I check out blogs and everyone is so creative and clean– so I am thinking about putting up my own blog~to change course~ and name it – Scenarios Where One Uses Expletives– what do you think? LOL Icould go on for days and change the expletives with each scenario!
Adam– do you care to sponsor me?
xxxx
Avi-
I need a picture of you!! Pronto— Can you post one here? It is for a good reason and I sure wish I could tell you but I can’t! But trust me! Or maybe email Adam and he can give you my email address and this way I can explain to you and this would be a one time email exchange– I promise!
xxxxxx
LDG must have gone to sleep- I don’t see his daily test post here but I did see it on the fire thread!
Bless you LDG! xxxxxxxxoooooo
So this gizmo here is only for laptops? My brother has three laptops– hmmm? Birthday present? (two laptops are his daughters) But I know he likes the Housley wine– order will be coming in for this mid August as his birthday is August 31st!
I am going to do a case– He liked the red wine– and it sedates him so it is for medicinal purposes– Keep him sedated! LOL His wife drives him crazy– she is a non stop shopper and hides all her stuff so when he is sober, he loses his temper but when he is buzzed, he doesn’t give a chara– Like sister, like brother!

—————————————————————————————————————
LOL- I complained on the fire thread too! Plus, I had to remind him I AM VERY UNDERPAID as his Personal Assistant– you want the job? It is not worth it! The only part of the job I like is annoying him! And no bucks come this way!
Just pure satisfaction! tee hee!
And I love LDG’S daily posts! He is so frigging funny!
xxxxx
Adam:
How about a Venezuela thread again? I love hearing about Chavez! I bet he has more coca paste going into his mouth and holes in the wall, as I hear he is good for this, than I have posted since the beginning!
Eva Gollinger, your very good friend, has not posted anything new on her site. I check in now and then to see what absurd posts she has! Postcards from the Revolution– (Marie introduced this site from a past blog– and I check it out now and then.) Eva’s last entry was May 18th- She is probably helping Hugo punch holes as they are going down– big time– no credibility– Once again– Uribe, you are the best and whoever becomes President here in the USA, keep Colombia as your bud! (Do I have to email each candidate to tell them this?)
Or Adam– how about one of those POD’s? Withdrawl here!
Signed,
PIA
Susan-
Your brother must be really rich, i guess having several laptops can come in handy, especially if you work daily on the computer, making websites and other creative things.
Did anyone hear about a new Mike Huckabee pilot show is in the works for FoxNews? Not word on when it will start.
Susan-
Red wine is also good for your heart, but shouldnt been drinked overexcessively. Only in moderation, as they say.
LDG–
I am looking forward to your daily plea!
xxxx
Brad–
I posted a link about Obama on the fire thread– sent to me by a good friend! Read and enjoy!
xxxx
There was a mention of Nepenthe in Big Sur fighting off huge embers from their deck. I love that place – is it still standing? I hope they can keep it safe. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Patty!
You could have a lot of fun with that one!

Hmm, why do Macs get so hot? my pc only gets hot when i’ve forgotton to vacume it’s insides.
My laptop never gets hot though.
Brad: You’re promoting the Housley family bussiness with all this promotiong of red wine. Trying to get in his good books?
Oh joy new tech toy! Adam I didn’t know you could set a blog the way you did! Interesting there are hundreds of ways. I need of those for my son, laptops go get really hot!

Susan-
I didnt see the BHO link, maybe it didnt go through? Maybe you can re post it on Janices Blog?
Max-
Macs are a whole lot better than those other computers. Except for those HP Pavillions.
Of course, i am promoting Adams buisiness. What other reason could it be?
Susan-
Forget that pervious message, i found the link you posted.
Its very informative, well written blurb. I just hope the youth who are brainwashed by BHO can be saved before its too late. If BHO gets elected, the end of the world wont be far behind.
Brad: You a Mac user?
And don’t forget the URL while promoting it: http://www.centuryoakwinery.com
Brad–
the person who sent me the link has concerns too!
One good thing we have going here is impeachment– (BHO)– But let’s hope McCain gets the win!
xxx
Susan-
I guess you heard about those comments Jesse Jackson made about BHO “being out of touch with black people”.
He is absolutely correct, his BHO character is out of touch with everyone, and the doesnt seem to know who to address the concerns of taking this country in the right direction.
McCain will get the win, i have a good feeling. I just hope he makes a wise choice when it comes to picking his VP choice.
You do have a point, if this BHO character wins, i hope you and everybody else will do what they can to impeach him. But i hope it doesnt come to that fact. Its best to prevent and stop this enigma from being elected to run this country, and i hope and your friends will do whatever it takes.
Max-
I dont have a Mac, but i have used them before. They are very dependable and trustworthy.
By any chance do you have a Mac OS X?
http://www.apple.com/macosx/
Susan-
Sometimes doing something in excess has its benefits, if its helping you to improve your health or lifestyle. Wow, that is an acheivement, having your brothers trademark name on some brand of flowers that sell at Safeway. By any chance do you shop there often? I find the produce there is really fresh and of top quality, unlike other supermarkets i have been to in my area. Not to mention the wild selection of microwavable dinners and health foods.
Max-
When you computer gets warm, that probably is a sign that its overheating, and you need to shut it down and give it a rest.
I know a lot of times my desktop and mouse gets really dusty, and i find myself cleaning it often.
Hey Susan, Max, and everyone else interested-
Check out this blog.
http://www.insidecablenews.worldpress.com/
Its tell a lot of informative facts on some upcoming programs on FNC, including some on those liberal left wing networks, those i absolutely hate.
Brad: No i have windows 2000. I live in a basement off a busyish road, so we get a lot of dust. So i have to clean the inside of everything with a fan from time to time so they don’t die. It’s pretty good at the moment though, quite cool.
Also you added an L into that link: http://insidecablenews.wordpress.com/
Pretty interesting.
Max-
I used to have Windows 98, until my computer crashed recently. Now i have a windows xp. I think it all depends on the brand of computer you are purchasing. I know those programs are already installed in your computer, so if you decide to trade it in for a new one, you might have an updated program.
I know at a public library in my area, they have windows 2000 professional edition, and its downright slow. I think its because the browser is outdated, plus the computer monitor looks very old.
You seem to be very knowledgable about computers, i bet you can considering building websites for a living. I heard those type of jobs pay a ton of money.
Max-
You definately should try and purchase Norton Anti Virus system. Its a whole lot better than those others. They tell you when a phishing or id theft scam has been adverted, plus its detects whether a certain site has viruses.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton_anti_virus
Plus if you havent downloaded firefox, you definately should. Its a whole lot better than internet explorer, as in your page doesnt freeze up when you visit certain sites. Not to mention those pesky error messages.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox
Max-
You should do your part promoting Adams family buisiness overseas by spreading the word about it when you live in the UK.
Patty-
I didnt mean anything bad by it, i just dont want our loyal poster Susan to get alcohol poisoning or some other consequences from outdosing on wine.
The invention of a lifetime!
Watch this, it’s funny…..
http://www.koldcast.tv/video/fake_iphone_commercial
Brad…*giggling here*..if susan was going to OD, i have a feeling she’d have done it in the 70’s! *L*
Brad: I built the computer myself, so we used a program we already had. Never had a serious virus problem, and AVG has fixed all those i’ve had.
I’m not sure Housley wine can be shipped here. But i’m promoting it here.
Max…AVG is the only antiv i’ll use. Its not loaded with “fat” and doesnt interfere with much of anything. Seems to work great for the money! ha ha
Patty-
I dont think Susan would be type of person to dabble or try any type of drugs or controlled substance
Hey Max-
You are very smart and intelligent and have a ton of knowledge when it comes to the subjects of computers. I hardly know a thing about computers, most are from my experiences from using them. I bet you are considering getting into the computer repair field after college. Maybe do a little html and website building also.
Take Care.
What is great about windows xp is whenever you shut down your computer, they automatically install important updates, and you dont even have to take the trouble of reading those confusing manuals.
I hope everyone here has ad aware installed in their computer also. Its great to run after a computer session, because it rids your hard drive of harmful adware and spyware programs that can be potentially harmful.
If anyone needs some info on the iphone. check out this link:
http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0596513747/104-7315273-7325522?SubscriptionId=0N1YGFKC9QHMHQ9QTDR2
I havent tried AVG before, but i find that norton works best for me. I have used others in the past, and i found it hard to renew and update my membership when the time came.
Brad: oh no, I’ve spent far too much time with computers. I’ll be quite happy to get a job that does not involve computers greatly. You should try AVG it’s free and works very well. http://www.grisoft.com/
Max-
Thanks for the AVG link. If the Norton one doesnt work out for me, i might consider trying it. But at least you have a back up career in computers to return to if your other job doesnt work out, or you get tired of it.
Betty-
Thanks for the link about the fake iphone commerical. It reminds me of one of those homemade youtube videos. Its amazing what people can do with computer technology these days.
