Marine Faces Murder Charge in Soldier Wife’s Death

TUESDAY 3:20 PM

John Wimunc and fellow Marine Kyle Alden displayed no emotion during their first appearance in court, as the judge read the charges against them, and the possible sentences associated with those charges.

If Alden is convicted of all charges against him, he could, in theory, face up to 49 years in consecutive prison sentences. If Wimunc is convicted of first degree murder, he could face the death penalty or life without parole.

After the hearing, Wimunc’s attorney D.W. Bray walked up to the TV cameras gathered outside the detention center and made this statement:

My cleint is presumed to be innocent. We have soldiers that are fighting across the world to preserve that right. We don’t want this case tried in the media. We want it to be tried in a court of law, not under accusations, but under admissible, certifiable evidence. And until then, please remember he is presumed to be innocent.”

The hearing location was moved to the Cumberland County Detention Center for logistical purposes. This is where both defendants are being held until their next scheduled court appearance on August 5.

Now that investigators have finished recovering, what they believe are, the charred remains of Ft. Bragg Army nurse Holley Wimunc from a shallow grave near Camp Lejeune, the focus of the murder investigation shifts back to Fayetteville, NC — about 90 miles away.

That’s where the victim’s husband, 23-year-old Marine Cpl. John Wimunc, is scheduled for his first court appearance along with a fellow Camp Lejeune Marine, 22-year-old Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden.

John Wimunc is charged with first degree murder in connection with his wife’s death. Alden is charged with being an accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Both men also face arson charges in connection with Thursday’s fire at Holley Wimunc’s Fayetteville apartment — which investigators believe was set in an unsuccessful attempt to hide evidence.

Alden’s mother told the Associated Press her son’s only involvement was giving a friend a ride to Fayetteville. “He had no idea what was going on,” she said.

On Saturday, John Wimunc’s parents tried to defend their son against speculation of any involvement in his wife’s disappearance and disputed the domestic violence allegations Holley Wimunc made against him in May. But John Wimunc’s parents have not commented on the most recent developments in the case.

The two Marines are scheduled to appear in Cumberland County District Court at 2 PM Eastern Time.

MONDAY 11:15 PM

Investigators have finished exhuming charred human remains, believed to be the body of of missing Ft. Bragg Army nurse Holley Wimunc. They were recovered from a shallow grave in a remote, wooded area south of Camp Lejeune, where her Marine husband John was based.

A CSI agent with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office estimates that approximately 98 percent of the body was recovered and a “mammoth amount of evidence collected,” according to a press release from Sheriff Ed Brown.

MONDAY 3:25 PM

The husband of Ft. Bragg soldier Holley Wimunc has been charged with first degree murder in connection with her death.

John Wimunc, a Marine at Camp Lejeune, is being held in the Cumberland County Jail in Fayetteville, NC near Ft. Bragg, where his wife served as an Army nurse.

Also being held, 22-year-old Kyle Alden — also a Marine — who now faces a charge of felony accessory after the fact to first degree murder.

Both men already faced arson charges in connection with Thursday’s fire at Holley Wimunc’s Fayetteville apartment.

MONDAY 1:50 PM

“This is not going to be a serial killing. This is going to be a personal issue.”

That statement from Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown regarding the apparent death of missing Ft. Bragg soldier Holley Wimunc.

Brown said investigators have yet to make a positive ID on the charred human remains found Sunday in a remote area south of Camp Lejeune. But “paraphernalia” found at the scene leads them to believe it’s her, Brown said.

MONDAY 10:30 AM

Here’s how the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office described the crime scene. Quoting from a press release:

“Once arriving at the location and viewing the scene and remains, it immediately became a flashback account of the Maria (Lauterbach) murder… Paraphernalia around the charred remains gave investigators strong suspicions this was the missing Army Lieutenant female missing from Fayetteville, North Carolina.”

Authorities said while they have yet to make a positive identification on the body, they informed the missing soldier’s family to “prevent them from being shocked by any media report that might indicate otherwise.”

MONDAY 10:05 AM

The husband of missing Ft. Bragg soldier Holley Wimunc has been arrested and charged with first-degree arson in connection with last week’s fire at her apartment in Fayetteville, NC.

John Wimunc is a Marine based at Camp Lejeune. Authorities have also charged another Marine, 22-year-old Kyle Ryan Alden. Both are being held in the Cumberland County jail in Fayetteville, NC, near Ft. Bragg.

MONDAY 8:45 AM

We’re en route to Onslow County, NC, where authorities say they found the remains of a woman in a brush fire late Sunday afternoon.

Raleigh TV station WRAL reports it received a written statement this morning from Jesse James, the father of missing Ft. Bragg Soldier Holley Wimunc, announcing that his daughter was dead. Quoting James’s statement from WRAL.com:

Since last Thursday’s shocking news about Holley’s burned apartment and her missing person status, our family through the country has nonetheless been holding on to a thin thread of hope that she would be found alive. Today, that thread of hope broke as her body was discovered.

Onslow County is home to Camp Lejeune.

SATURDAY 11:55 PM

As the search continues for a missing Ft. Bragg soldier, her in-laws are speaking out.

Court documents surfaced in the media, indicating 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc sought protection against her estranged husband, Marine Cpl. John Wimunc — accusing him of threatening her with a loaded gun back in May. Baseless claims, according to the Camp Lejeune Marine’s parents.

Late this afternoon, Florian and Lana Wimunc emailed Fox News and other media outlets a written statement. I have copied and pasted their statement below, unedited and in its entirety:

July 12, 2008

The Parents of John Wimunc wish to release the following statement:

We stand behind our son 100%. The accusations and innuendo’s about the domestic violence charge are unfounded. The paperwork was filed but the facts were false. There was no police report filed on the incident and john did not call me and make any statements to the fact of him hurting himself or Holley. I did however talk to Holley that night and nothing was said about any abuse or gun. John showed up May 28, 2008 at court to fight the false charges and they were dropped because Holley did not show up to face it. They are going thru an uncontested divorce, not a bitter one as some have stated. John is not considered a suspect and is co-operating fully with authorities. We are also worried about Holley and want here back safe for the sake of her family and her kids. We hope this all gets resolved in a positive way for everyone’s sake.

SATURDAY 2:10 PM: ON SCENE AT FAYETTEVILLE, NC POLICE DEPT.

An Army nurse missing from Ft. Bragg had sought court protection from her Marine husband and, earlier, from an Illinois woman who allegedly attempted to “embarrass” the couple on the Internet.

First, the domestic violence issue. Police said 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc was in the process of a divorce during the days leading up to her disappearance. In a complaint filed with Cumberland (NC) District Court back in May, the soldier writes:

17 May 2008 — spouse intoxicated, threatening to kill self + I. Held loaded 9mm to my head; choked me. Threw me around living room. Defended myself. Left scratches on spouse’s body. Called 911. Called spouse’s officer on duty (OOD). Spouse also held gun to own head. Wrote his initials on a bullet. Notified his mother of intent to harm self

Now, onto the Internet issue. Last year, a North Carolina judge granted 2nd Lt. Wimunc a “no contact” order against Lindsay Hunter of Avon, IL In court documents, Wimunc writes:

The defendant has continuously posted pictures of herself and my spouse on the Internet with comment directed at me. I have changed my phone number 6 times as my husband has also. She has had individuals contact my friends looking for me. This has been going on for 18 months

It’s unclear how Hunter and the Wimuncs are acquainted. When I called Hunter’s residence, I got a recording saying the line was disconnected.

Earlier, WRAL-TV of Raleigh, NC reported that it was able to reach Hunter by phone, but that she had “no comment” and told the station to never call back.

SATURDAY 8:45 AM

We’ve just landed in Raleigh, NC and are about to make the one hour drive to Fayetteville, where police are investigating the suspicious disappearance of 2nd Lt. Holley Wimunc, a 24-year-old soldier from Ft. Bragg who’s been reported missing since Thursday.

Unfortunately, this will not be our first time in Fayetteville for this type of story. We were there just last month to cover the investigation into the death of Army Spc. Megan Touma, whose body was found in the bathtub of her hotel room.

Yesterday, police announced a second autopsy had confirmed the 23-year-old soldier was the victim of a homicide. They did not release the cause of Touma’s death.

Investigators are not linking the Touma homicide with the new missing soldier case. But the coincidence is, no doubt, unsettling to residents of this military town.

More details when we arrive on scene.

SATURDAY 5:00 AM

Photographer Cappy Cochran and I are driving to the airport to meet producer Brooks Blanton. We’re traveling to Fayetteville, NC, where a soldier is reported missing under highly suspicious circumstances.

Second Lt. Holley Wimunc has been missing since Thursday. Authorities, responding to a complaint of strong gasoline odors at her Fayetteville apartment complex, found a smoldering fire that burned two bedrooms in Wimunc’s home. Her car was still in the parking lot.

Police are calling the case an “arson and missing person’s investigation.” They said Wimunc is going through a divorce.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that she had filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband two months ago, alleging that he got drunk and held a loaded handgun to her head, as well as his own. The complaint resulted in a restraining order against 23-year-old John Patrick Wimunc, who is a Marine based at Camp Lejeune near Jacksonville, NC.

More details as we get closer to the scene.

In response to the article on Holly Wimunc: Lindsay Hunter and the Wimunc’s were acquainted because Lindsay was having an affair with Holly’s husband last year. Lindsay is married to a man, who still lives in Avon, IL. Lindsay met John Wimunc through her brother in law, David Wallace, who is also a Marine who lives in Jacksonville, NC. She met him at a party at her sister’s house in February of 2007. Lindsay
fell in love with John and decided she wanted to move to North Carolina. In February of 2008, Lindsay moved to North Carolina, leaving her two children in Illinois with her husband. She was then having affairs with several different military men the latest being Drew Piazza, a Navy man. Lindsay lives at 1078 Harrells Loop Road, Jacksonville, NC. Her phone # is 910-934-8852. Her sister, Erica Wallace, lives at 210 Liberty Park Rd., Jacksonville, NC. Her step-father, Scott Wilson, is a Sgt with the Marines stationed at Camp Lejune and also lives in Jacksonville, NC. Lindsay has recently worked at Oliver’s in Jacksonville.

I heard this latest missing soldier case could be a stunt pulled by the lady herself, so she can collect the insurance money.

Note from Holley’s famile

Holley Lynn James Wimunc

A Statement from Her Family

It is with profound sadness that our family just received the news from authorities that our beloved daughter Holley is dead.

Since last Thursday morning’s shocking news about Holley’s burned apartment and her missing- person status, our family throughout the country has nonetheless been holding on to a thin thread of hope that she would be found alive.

Today, that thread of hope broke as her body was discovered.

Holley was a proud St. Ambrose University graduate, excited about both her chosen field of nursing and her career in the U.S. Army.

She was an even more proud mother of her wonderful son and daughter whose activities and personalities never failed to give her joy.

At the end of this journey of sadness, we wish to thank the many, many people who have assisted us so quickly and competently in the search. We are grateful to those people in Dubuque, at the University of Dubuque, and others around the country for their prayers for her safe return. Those prayers and support will help us to make it through this impossibly tough time.

I’ve become very concerned about what is going on here and I’m almost tired of hearing that the military doesn’t know how to protect it’s female employees. I think we need to review the premise of having women in the military period. Right now what I’m seeing is that too many people are letting this kind ofthingto leep happening ON BASE excuse me, but what happened to all the security they used to have? What gives? I’m appalled at what is going on and it assures me that I made the right deision to stay ouf of the military period. Lets face it, people are being too callous toward one another this is a tragedy that shouldn’t be repeated.

It never ceases to amaze me how the parents of the suspected murderer always stand by their children and believe whatever they are told. I hope John Wimunc didn’t commit this crime but it is very suspicious that the body was found nearby Camp Lejeune. I would like to hear what the parents of John Wimunc have to say if their son admits to this murder. Like the song says, ” No one knows what goes on behind closed doors”.

Comment by shanaquah

Yes I agree, with bILL. There is Scott Peterson’s parents and more recently Neil Entwistle’s parents claiming their son’s are innocent.
My parents love me and would stand by me but they would not come out and say I didn’t do a crime when it is obvious I did.
How many more women and their children living and not yet born are going to be killed by these sorry excuses for men.

Sure seems to be an unusual number of Marine wives/girlfriends turning up missing or dead over the last couple of years, with husbands/boyfriends being primary suspects. I wonder if anyone has looked into the possibility that these men know each other. Almost sounds like some kind of pact being carried out.

Comment by amanda schwarz

i was/am good friends with holley, and am deeply sorrowed by what has happened. she had called me numerous times crying about how john had threatened her or that she was scared. my husband and i have also had violent run ins with john wimunc but of coarse him being my husbands superior command believed wimunc and my husband was charged with assult when john threatned my husband with a loaded gun. im real interested in knowing what wimuncs family has to say when they find out who their son really is and my husband and i would love an apology from the command for not actually looking into the situation and charging my husband for something he never did because “john wasnt like that and wouldnt threaten a fellow marine” well now we know what he is capable of and people should start listening to those who were actually there and those who know the victims best.

Comment by Mike Bielamowicz

Its a shame people don’t realize the value of a human life and go to the point of physical violence that turns into a murder. Where are the morals of the people who may have killed someone in error and then think they can cover it up. Where is the integrity? He should have been a man and stood up for what he may have done? Cowards run or lie. The lady who was apparently having an affair with her husband should be investigated and her husband should get full custody of their children. Her children don’t deserve a mother who would run out on them.

What is up with the Military and the bases in North Carolina? What is this, the third instance in about a year?

Comment by Damron7467

Once again the military failed to protect and support a FEMALE - how odd! John’s parents obviously don’t know their baby or they have covered for him before - How sad that a woman dies and her protectors - Husband and Militay - seem to be more concerned with protecting themselves than they were with her. I have a son and I have a daughter and they are equally important to me.
John is obviously a dog and his lady love abandoned her children - IS he really worth it?

Comment by CHARLIE

I’m totally just at a loss for words. this seems like dejavu, didn’t something like this just happen????? where are the officers on base who protect these people? or is it because they aren’t living on base that they don’t get protection??? I mean hello, wake up Ft. Bragg. how many other female soldiers have to die before you all grow some balls and attempt to do something about this. it’s pointing to the spouses of the victims that makes it seem so totally unreal. here you have men and women together joing the armed forces to protect the country abroad, and they can’t even love and honor and protect their own homes and families. this is something that i blame on the military personell. find out who you’re enlisting before you just saddle up the troops and get ready to send them off to war. I also agree with amanda’s blog i think the military should apologize to you and your husband who had an encounter with this monster before any of this happened. start to investigate no matter who the morron is, if actions where taken when it was first reported that he pulled a gun on someone, maybe just maybe holley may still be alive and the prick would have already been in jail. small things like that she not go unnoted and passed over. as for his family, everyone likes to have faith or hold true beliefs that they raised their kids right and that they couldn’t have done such a thing, but never say never because as another blogger says you can’t be with them 24/7 and just because you don’t know it doesn’t mean it can’t be. and everything your childs says is not the gospel!!!!!!! In closing, my heart and deepest prayers go out to holley and her family especially the children who have to go thru life w/o their mother. i cant imagine or would want to think of how that’s going to be, but i just pray that they are placed with caring love ones who will be there to give them all the support and love that they are going to need for the rest of their lives…… may god be with them in their time of grief!!!!!!!

I am saddened that Holley is gone and I didn’t even know her. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to her family and friends as they try to cope with the loss of their beloved daughter and friend. No one should ever have to live in fear like Holley did, and she certainly didn’t deserve to have her life cut short by some controlling man with a dark heart. He certainly did not pay attention to his marriage vows when he said that he would love, honor, and cherish her for the rest of her life. The one person she trusted most betrayed her and made her live in fear on a daily basis. Controlling abusive men get their kicks instilling fear into women, and some men go even further, such as Holley’s case. When will domestic abuse and violence against women in our society ever stop? It appears that men who physically or mentally abuse women were never taught early in life how to have and show respect for women, or respect for life in general, nor were they ever taught that they cannot always have everything they want in life. The way their sick thinking goes is “If I can’t have you then no one else ever will.” With the three most recent cases involving our military it makes one wonder if in some cases the miltary just turns a blind eye and looks the other way other way when someone does not pass the psychological exam. I hope the poor excuse of a man who did this to Holley gets exactly what he deserves. And Holly may you rest in peace in the loving arms of our heavenly father.

I guess I would be a little scared and very, very careful where I went and with whom, after seeing what has happened to these last two military women. Maybe the killing is a result of what they’re being trained for, they just aren’t mature enough to know it doesn’t apply to your wives, girlfriends or ex’s.

I was in the military, and way back during the Korean war, you were very much protected from harm. We also traveled in groups, and hardly anyone was married. It wouldn’t be easy to just move away, when you’re tied to the Military and they own you, but apparently no one is taking anything seriously when they’re informed someone is fearing their spouses or ex’s.

When it was referenced to the commanders believing the male service personnel, isn’t that because men have never wanted woman in the military in the first place, and women are all fabricators? I think that’s the measure of the minds of military men for the most part, women are their property.

I am sickened by this whole thing. Once was bad enough, Scott Peterson’s situation was bad enough, but to have this happen again at the same post - is inconscionable.

I think the commanders who got the report should be put on trial, they think they’re above reproach.

Amanda Schwarz you have alot of nerve coming onto the internet and asking for apologies when you dont know anything, weather or not john did anything doensnt concern you, and you asking for an apology is beyond ridiculous, it is very sad that she had died, however nobody knows anything, people are reporting and and assuming alot of different stories, as far as johns parents..well if you had a kid and your son was on national tv being accused of first degree murder i think you would feel the need to defend him too. Dont speak out without thinking, you have to be wiser before you think and come on a national seen website to get your feelings out. Dont be stupid and get your facts straight. If john is accused then fine he is wrong and needs to be punished for a long time but dont come on here and demand apologies cause from the stories ive heard from people tied in with this ALOT went wrong not just John.

There is a no fraternization regulation that might have been applicable. Army Command Policy - AR 600-20 … but there are a lot of ways around it … for example if their relationship predated her commission as an officer. But that is a moot point now. I really don’t think it would have mattered anyway … I think this guy is a sociopath … look at the smirky smile in his mugshot … sick and disgusting.

Comment by BAH0806

Amanda Schwarz - I’d be demanding an apology from the command. It is becoming apparent that John Wimunc had some serious anger mgmt issues. Hopefully, if there is anything adverse in your husband’s military record regarding the incident, the USMC will seriously consider removing it. It appears the Command turned a blind eye, when it came to John and his anger. If true, shame on the leadership in that Command.

Comment by Joyce

Yes this is the military’s fault (sarcasm). Place the responsiblity and blame on the person(s) that committed the crime. These things happen everyday in our civilian society yet people are fast to blame the military, the very same people that are protecting our rights to live as we do. These people that serve are adults and do not need babysitters. Protect those that warrant valid protection against a possible crime but to protect every woman in service is crazy. Let’s take the military womens accomplishments and throw them away, what a better way to slap a military woman. These horrible crimes happen everywhere. Make the people that commit these crimes pay not our true and blue freedom fighters.

Three military murders in less then a year. What is going on in NC? What is going on with our military? I’m in shock.

Comment by PennStateMtnMan

I can not believe some idiots are saying the military failed to protect the female service members. If neither spouse was in the military, it would have still ended up the same way. I work for a television station here in Pennsylvania. We had a similar incident happen last week. We had other incidents that are very similar happen all year. Guess what, none of these people were in the military. Face it people, a protection from abuse order does not stop a bullet. If you want to lay blame on something, then lay blame on a piece of paper people feel they can hide behind like a shield that is called a Protection of Abuse. Something needs to be done on the Protection of Abuse, but I am not sure how to change it. Some of you act like as soon as she filed for the divorce and POA, then the military should have place her into the Witness Relocation program or something. Some of you idiots have such hatred towards the military you have to blame everything on the military. The simple fact, some a-hole murdered his wife. The military did not murder her. For the love of god, start putting the blame where it squarely belongs.

Comment by Damron7467

I love the military - I simply believe the military does not expend the same resources to their female soldiers as it does to it’s men. You are probably right about the event but when you enlist - you are MILITARY!!!! There has to be some manner of control for this to end. The military standards should be higher than those for thugs.

THIS IS SAD, GD THE PERSON WHO DID THIS.

this is exactly why officers and enlisted are not suppose to mix. period, period, period, the husband was obviously jealous his wife was making one pile of money more than him, in the good old days this would never be acceptable behavior and would spell the end of the officers career if he or she married an enlisted person. period

It’s not uncommon to hear about so much crime in the Fayetteville area…it’s truly a scary town to live in….day in and day out there are killings, home invasions, bank robberies…The unfortunate thing is whenever something bad happens to someone affiliated with the military it tends to get even more attention with the media…however, I think as of late someone needs to take a closer look at our soldiers and what’s going on…three military women murdered and yes it appears they were caused by people they knew (domestic violence). What’s going on in the minds of these soldiers that they show no hesitancy or remorse with killing and mutilating bodies? Have you seen the look on Wimunc’s face? He seems almost proud. What can we expect to happen in the near future when more and more soldiers return home? What can we do to prevent these thing from continuing to happen?

Comment by Frank USMC

To answer Fred, they were in different branches, that is acceptable in the military, they will never be in the same command. This is a disgrace to our military men and women that are serving our country. I spent the last 20 years in the Marine Corps, I always looked at it this way, what ever I did in the Marine Corps had a direct impact on our country, These men if you can call them that, have total disregard for this country. It is a sad day in this country, when men that take a oath to uphold the laws and freedoms in this country commet an act as this. I am almost ashamed to be in the company of such men as these. The Marine Corps made me proud, but I am not proud of these Marines that do such horriable acts.

Comment by Sandi Doemel

I know a Marine who was in Iraq and returned home recently. He was totally changed and you could tell he was never properly debreiffed by the military. These men are not getting the mental help needed upon returning home. This is why these murders and home violence is escallating. It would be interesting to find out what exactly our military does to debreif soldiers. Not what they want us to think, but what really happens.

Comment by ally mull

Kudos to pennmtnman for keeping it honest and real. Its too bad not everyone uses common sense before they speak. Circumstances can influence a person to choose to hurt another human being but the bottom line is at some point you have to willingly committ an act of violence. Pick up a gun, get behind the wheel drunk, use your fist or words to hurt. They are choices no one can force you to make.
Simply put, a woman was murdered and the men police believe murdered her have been arrested.
No one was there to protect Holly from the terrible ordeal that killed her. NO ONE was there forcing her killers to do those violent acts.

Comment by davisgator

To Frank USMC- As a Navy officer, I have to disagree with you on fraternization not applying to relationships between members of different services. It is unacceptable and against the UCMJ (key word is “uniform” in Uniform Code of Military Justice, meaning that it applies to all members of all services) for an officer to fraternize with an enlisted member. Today’s military is joint service. It’s highly unlikely that anyone can serve a 20-year career in today’s military without serving in a command represented by members of more than one service (see CENTCOM, EUCOM, the Joint Staff, any task force). However, as another writer pointed out earlier, it’s entirely possible that their marriage/relationship pre-dated their military roles which would rule out fraternization.

Comment by David

I too am deeply saddened and troubled by the tragic death of Holly, but I have to agree with the writer that stated the person responsible for this crime has been arrested. The military didn’t do this, her husband did!!! I pray for Holly and her family, may God give them peace and comfort in this horrible time.

Why are our men & women in military not being protected?? I am outraged at this story and the many others like it which involve Camp Lejuene. However, I am not shocked that Camp Lejuene is in the headlines again because the military never addressed the problems that occurred in the Marie Lauderbach murder, nor did they come forward and address these problems to the public or to the Marines and their families stationed at Camp Lejuene. No responsibility was ever taken by the Marine Corps men & women in Command at Camp Lejuene for their part in her murder! And I believe that most people would agree that the Marine Corps owed a duty of honor, respect and protection to Marie and they failed to provide that for her and then they failed her and her family by not investigating her dissappearance properly and immediately. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they failed them again by not publically accepting responsisibility for that Commands failures and not allowing them to take responsibility for their actions or the actions of those men under their command. The Marine Corps HAD TO KNOW what went wrong and who did what!!! By NOT publically annoucing their mistakes and addressing their findings of their internal investigations, it allowed those in command to sweep things under a rug so to speak and continue to turn a blind eye to the problems, and because of this, more service women have been killed and more Marines have been arrested for their murder. Obviously, the present command and policy at Camp Lejuene had failed again!! HOW MANY MORE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THE MILITARY TAKES ACTION AND CHANGES POLICIES AND LEADERSHIP AT CAMP LEJUENE?? Where are our military leaders in Washington and why are they not demanding answers?? Marines that uphold the Corps values are the ones that deserve protection and the finest Leaders, equipment and protection that money can buy. Our military should be able to trust the men and women standing on each side of them in combat or in day to day training exercise. Most importantly, they should be able to trust their leaders and their government officials to protect them when their leaders and/or policies fail. I hope and pray that when my son, nephew and their friends leave for the second time to go fight for their country, that their country deserves the honor…………..

I was a fellow nursing student at St. Ambrose University and took several classes in which Holley also attended. I graduated in the same nursing class, in May of 2007. She was a nice girl, excited about her career in the Army as a nurse, helpful to others. In fact as my husband I were leaving after the graduation ceremony, Holley was in the car next to us in the parking lot and my husband snapped a photo of her. As I am a nurse also and a very visual person, it is horrifying to think about her discovery and the condition of her body. No one deserves to die this way. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and what they must be going through.

I don’t know if this guy is guilty or not, that’s up to the court to decide. We train soldiers to kill and are surprised when they do. Why is that. Is it because they are to kill only on command and who we want them to kill and only when we tell them to kill. We remove their natural inhabition to killing other people through training and war and are surprised when they return home and continue killing.

The human race has a big problem with reality, knowing the difference between how we want things and the way they really are.

My heart felt condolences go out to the family. God will take care of her.

Such a shame…it’s happened again!!!
Another beautiful productive military Nurce/Mother/Daughter/ & Friend’s life snuffed out by by an angry abusive aggressive military personel.

I’m fed up with…NOT ACCEPTABLE ACTION BY MILITARY OFFICIALS…when our beautiful military woman are slaughtered…HOW MANY MORE HAVE TO DIE HORRENDOUS DEATHS…BEFORE YOU TAKE ACTION AND HELPPPPPPPPPPPP OUR OWN?????? The cry for “HELP” comes from both sides…VICTIM AND PERPATRATOR…PREVIOUS ACTIVE COMBAT WITHOUT “APPROPRIATE LONG TERM PHYCHOLOGICAL” help…is killing own own FAMILIES leaving a wake of DEATH and RUINED LIVES…by our own government trained assasins!!

Government needs to step UP and HELP these “vets AND their families” once they get back from combat…NEGLECTANT LEADERS/MILITARY OFFICIALS PLEASE DON”T WASTE this opportunity to START HELPING!!!!!

You have to be kidding me, your saying females are not extended the same rights as males. Let me ask you something because the last 12 years has shown me alot. Have you even served one day in uniform? If not then shut up, honestly shut the hell up.

Men and Women are equals on all aspects, this has what been drivin into my head since day one, treat the women as equals.

Is this not what we all believe?

Get out of the soaps, lay off the chocolate, chips and dip, and off the couch, get to a gym lift some weights and take some martial arts classes and learn to shoot a gun.

The military is not around to watch every woman in the service all the time, crap happens and when you have 250k plus people you will get a bad egg or two its unavoidable.

For the rest of you crying about the military, if your not serving, shut the hell up, you have no idea what goes on or the stresses we go through and you never will!

So Im aware of 3 military women recently killed by the men in thier lives. I want to know if all three men just returned from the Iraq war and does anybody think that there cold hearted killings have anything to do with that. I am under the assumption that all three women had men that were in the service.

Comment made by Becky Mack is really interesting. I have to question though how she knows her and if she also knows anything else that she could possibly tell us. Ever since I heard it on the news it has just made me sick to my stomach. Should be interesting how it all turns out.

I know about LINDSAY HUNTER because I am a friend of the family of one of the two children that she left in Avon, Illinois to pursue John ~ supposedly another love of her life. There are several victims here ~ of course, Holly ~ and I pray for her family. She sounds as though she was a wonderful person. As a mother, I can not imagine going through such heartbreak of losing a child. The other victims of this whole mess with LINDSAY HUNTER are her two children. How can a mother just pack up and leave her 2 children and husband 15 or more hours away. Has LINDSAY HUNTER been questioned regarding her whereabouts during this whole ordeal?

My thoughts and prayers go out to Holly’s family.

as i read all of this i cant help but think that maybe what is wrong with this world is people putting their comments and lies where they dont need to be. who the hell are any of us to judge? until you walk a mile in anyones shoes keep your mouth shut. what floors me is how does this becky lady even know lindsay hunter? have any of you at all thought about what she is thinking and going thru? why does she have to suffer from his actions? even if she had a relationshiop with him it looks like it was before they even got married. there are always two sides to every story. i dont think that there is one person out there that hasnt said things and done things for someone that they love at some point in time. what i mean by this is fighting with his or her new gf/bf or trying to get someone back. and, from what i have read she was the one that called it off with john and asked to be left alone. there are also reports out there that she filed against holley. i really dont think that her and holleys issues from a year ago should put her in the news the way it has. what about her poor family? they need to be in our prayers too. i hope that the james family can find some peace in all of this. also, that this all ends the way it should.

Well “BECKY MACK” as a mother I think you should know that by posting other “mothers” addresses means you are putting other innocent children at possible harm. There is a lot of sickos out there! Where do you feel as if you have the right to post her sisters info on the internet involving a crime?? Also fake addresses and phone numbers when it comes to Lindsay hunter??? Maybe at the end of the day you should look at your children or child and know that you have more important things to worry or be focused on in your life. This is something that none of us can change and like Rod said it can’t bring her back. You are probly just some “SMALL” town woman who has nothing better to do and who wants her little 15 sec. of fame. Oh and if you are a “friend” of the family then why would you be posting or giving out addresses and numbers to whereas you could be putting Lindsay’s children at harm??? Obvisously you’re not taking into “REAL” consideration the children here. You are being selfish and just trying to put info out there like you really know what’s going on. So with all that being said may GOD BLESS YOU!

PS and if you are a “REAL” friend then why don’t you go by your “REAL” name????

why dont you becky mack just stop it!!!!!!!!!!! you must have it in for lindsay. for one thing she didnt come down here to be with john!! for another her kids was comming down here next year!!! so please stop talking about her. she has nothing to do with this case.. You must dont like her to be slaming her name all over the net! and please everone that reads this lindsay hunter has nothing to do with john or holley. and why do you think it was necessary to post her sisters name and andress ? if its all about the kids, her sister has kids, you wasnt thinking about them and the carzy people out there that could put her kids in danger. so please stop posting things that you dont know about!!!!!!!!!!! and for everyone else im so sorry for what happen to holley. i didnt not know her, my heart goes out to her family i just think its wrong to come up here and talk about someone if you dont know whats going on.

the miltary has many classes and chaplians in place for our military troops and spouses. anytime you need them. i spent time in service with spouse we had problems but looked for help to get through the hard times. the thing is you have to be willing to ask help is out there so just ask this is to all women and spouses in the military and even cilvilans. so people stop blaming the miltary they do all they can it is up to us to support the good they do and not to bash the whole military because somepeople can’t ask for help and persue it and take all the steps to receive to help they need.
