Honor Killing Update
If you saw the special a few weeks ago on “Honor Killings,” you’ll be familiar with a young woman I interviewed. We did not reveal her name or show her face, at her request. But she has since written to me and expressed that she’s glad she did the interview.
“Honor Killings” is an ancient custom more associated with Islam today than any other religion. It is the practice of killing a daughter, wife or sister for the sake of the family honor. The woman is accused of committing some act that is deemed shameful, like not waring a hajib the Muslim dress, having non-Muslim friends or boyfriends, seeking a divorce or refusing an arranged marriage. Often times the woman could be the victim of rape and is seen by the family as defiled and therefore to cleanse the family of its shame, she must be put to death.
The cases we see in America and in other Western countries have one theme; the women exercise their independence. Like in the case of the 19 year old Rochester woman I interviewed.
We called her “Miriam” in the segment, but that is not her real name. Her brother stabbed her eleven times because he was trying to prevent her from leaving for an internship in New York City. Many tense filled arguments and conflicts in the months before led up to the attack. The police report said Miriam’s brother called her “a bad Muslim girl.” She would have died that night had she not convinced her brother to take her to the hospital after she told him she’d lie about what happened.
I found this young woman to be extremely brave, in ways I know I never could be. How many women her age, brought up in strong traditions of family honor, would have been able to do what she did? She talked to the national media about a dirty little secret called “honor killings”. She has defied them all… her mother, the brother that assaulted her and her nine other siblings… to tell her story.
Now, she is forever estranged from them. She can’t go to them for the nurturing and affirmation that we all want from her our families. And she misses that. Because regardless of how bad families can get, they are still your family. Miriam says her family continues trying to make her feel guilty for what happened, as if it’s all her fault. But her note tells me that there is a bright future for her. She said “I am not going to let them break me and I will not give up.”

Is her brother in jail?? and if not, why not?? They should throw the key away, the USA and all democratic governments should make “honor maining and/or killing” a crime worthy of life in prison.
When will we “wake up” to the fact the the Muslim religion is now “godless” and the devil is it’s master? The moderate Muslims are now as guilty of terrorism as the radicals and until the moderates start acting and speaking against honor killings and terrorism they should be considered “Devil Worshippers”. Mohammed is turning over in his grave, this is not what he intended his people to follow. It is so sad that they have prostitued their religion.
And to the Iman in Somalia that stated all women should have their vaginal organs mutilated to prevent adultery, I have a few words, “mutilate him” and all Muslim men that adher to this practice.

topic: honorkilling? what honor is in that? none -this honor killing is MURDER – taking of a life for no reason -islam is a very sexist religion we need to condemn it denounce it , eradicate it from the faceof the earth in God’s eyes women are equal to men not inferior -hey, you muslims , look it up in the new testament Jesus put women in their place -right beside thier men – we are the same on God’s eyes – WOMAN<MEN, jew ,greek , catholic christian, we need Him to live our daily lives in His way _God’s Way- not mohammads laws!!!

This whole thing about “Honor Killing”, is very scary. Not very many Americans are even aware of the fact that this is going on. Especially right here in the USA. We are not doing a good job of screening the immigrants that come into our country legally. What must we be getting ILLEGAL?

just because something is associated with a religion does not mean it comes from the religion be a 23 year old african american convert to islam i have read and studied and not once have i come across anything that says this is ok …… even within most muslim communities this is not being taught to us as being acceptable. why didnt the author go and speak to any of the imans at the many mosques across the united states and ask them about it ? instead of placing the assumption to the public that this is part of the religion ?
a few people cant speak for the entire population. Ignorance is bliss. and to the poster that said that jesus put us women equal to men so did islam look up womens rights in islam. men are obligated to take care of us and provide for us, if we divorce they have to take care of us financially for 3 monthes no matter what and if we have kids they are responsible for them until they are adults finacially
yes there are problems everywhere in every religion but out of the entire population not all of us are getting raped, or killed ……
consider that there is a list of the most wealthy women in the world and the top 6 are muslim women in muslim countries

While honor killing is a very ugly matter, saying all Muslims and all Muslim religion is a Godless, devilish religion has to be completely ignorant.
I have many friends who are Muslim and serve in the U.S. Military protecting your sorry butt and giving you the right to say those uneducated and hateful words Marie Frock.
Not all Muslims believe in this/practice this type of stuff, and while its very ugly there are plenty of ugly things that Christians do right here in America. While not as horrible as murder, showing up to a soldiers funeral to protest and shout horrible words at a family in grieving deserves as much punishment in my book.
Lets just be happy that the UCMJ and my military training teaches me to respect everyones point of view and beliefs something most civilians cannot or will not do!!!!
So NOW.. we have ‘honor killing’ in the US?!! This is a new thing, this Muslim race is bringing to us…and so what is next?? They are determined to come here and disrupt our way of life. They have no respect for LIFE period! Call it ignorance, or cold blooded arrogance, or militant religious indoctrination, they will slowly and surely take over our country. Look what they have accomplished in seven years,…look around, they are everywhere. You couldn’t pay me to get into a NY cab with an Arab driver. The danger for our America is on the Inside. According to George Bush, “Islam is a religion of peace.” Of course, sometimes George Bush seems to be full-of-it.
Islam’s problem appears to be that the moderate imans are scared to come out in opposition to the Wahabis that the Saudis send into our jails to recruit. If the moderates really don’t agree with the idea of murder, they need to speak up and pony up some money for moderate efforts in jails. It will take great bravery because they will face their own murder.
On the other hand, we Christains have the Phelps clan from Topeaka. They are our version of Osama in morals and sanity. There only difference is Osama has the nerve to kill. Actually, maybe the real difference is Osama can find more fools to go and kill themselves and others than Fred Phelps. There, I’ve finished on a happy note.

Thanks to Fox news and to “Miriam” for daring to expose this dark truth. The only way to change an evil ideology thousands of years in the making is to expose it. We must stand firmly against this and other sickening practices of sharia law. If American’s keep refusing to see the truth, eventually the disease of radical Islam will spread, without protest, until it slowly seeps itself into our government, our laws, our freedom to speak out against it’s atrocities will be lost. I have to believe that won’t happen here in America. I believe that when push comes to shove that American’s have both the will and the strength to keep this country strong and to stand firmly against the enemies of our great democracy.
By the way “Trickery” don’t be so naive, there are the Asan Akbar’s serving right next to you. Remember that nice young Muslim American who threw grenades into three officers tents at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait. Hard to believe that great guy killed 2 and injured 14 of his own American comrades. No, of course not all Muslim’s act this way…but some do. How many death’s will it take before it’s a concern?
