Jill Dobson joins the Entourage
I joined the cast of Entourage at the show’s Season 5 premiere party Wednesday – and the guys were great! Well, some of them. Read on for details you won’t hear anywhere else!
Jeremy Piven, who plays the caustic Ari Gold, was much, much nicer than his character. He gave me a very thoughtful and in-depth interview, saying, “The dynamic is really interesting because it’s a bunch of guys with a New York sensibility where they speak the truth to each other as they know it. And it can be tough love sometimes and really, really brutal. But no matter what your status is, they’re gonna give it to you straight, and I think there’s something very endearing about that.”
FOX photographer Jimmy Kuznetsov and I were working every angle of the premiere. Jimmy chatted up Perrey Reeves’ mom – convincing her to help us get an interview with “Mrs. Ari Gold.” And it worked! Thanks, Jimmy! Reeves chatted about the upcoming season, and told me why her Entourage character never got a first name, saying, “You know it’s true, I am Mrs. Ari. They’ve never officially given me a name for the audience to know. Because that first season Kevin [Dillon] called me that… and then it stuck! I love it. It’s so funny.”
The rest of the ensemble was great, too. I chatted with the guys who play Vince, Eric, Turtle and Drama about what we can expect this season. Kevin Dillon, who plays “Johnny Drama,” told me: “I really think it’s the friendship that makes it popular, guys who care so much about each other. You know, Vince goes through some hard times and just like he was there for us, we’re gonna be there for him, and that’s what makes the show great.”
While the cast was very friendly and open, show creator Mark Wahlberg wasted my time – and his– by feigning extreme laryngitis. He answered all my questions by silently mouthing his responses. This, just :30 seconds after he finished chatting – audibly! – with a BET reporter during a lengthy interview. Such is life on the red carpet. But I’m ready to make peace. Come on, Mark, let’s hug it out!
I am a huge fan of Entourage. Thanks for the red carpet pics and all the in depth details. It seems like a lot of the stars there are really funny and down to earth.
What was Marky-Mark THINKING, not talking to you?? I hope his brother Donnie is nicer than that, if you ever interview the NKOTB on their comeback tour!!!!
