Skies are often spectacularly colorful the night before a big storm

In Myrtle Beach, Hanna didn’t pack much of a punch. Some jabs, perhaps, easily deflected.

We got plenty of rain, coming down in sheets at times, or sideways with the gusts, but never really stinging my face like I’ve felt in more significant storms past.

The wind swirled and stopped and swirled some more. We might’ve had peak in the 50’s, but there was never a time where I had trouble standing.

The most impressive part of the Tropical Storm here on the Grand Strand was the angry surf, whitecaps curling and pounding the beach in rows, washing up and over my boots as I stood at the edge of the dunes for live shots.

Ike, on the other hand, looks like Hanna’s criminal cousin, ready to commit felonies across the Florida Keys and beyond. He could be very dangerous and folks would be smart to avoid crossing his path.

So of course we’re gonna head straight down there and stand in his way.

I am surprised there has been no reporting on the fact that a cat. 4 hurricane is about to hit Gitmo, on the east coast of Cuba. Is the govt. taking precautions with the POW’s? Have they been hit with a storm of this strength in the past?

We know how you try to avoid the Florida Keys, Rick, and must be sorry you have to go down there to cover this next storm. We are all hoping that this storm will take a big turn and miss our southern coast and hit land in a more deserted place. Your reporting is always good so take a few rocks for your pockets just in case and we’ll all be watching and will keep our fingers crossed for everybody. Fox did a great job covering the last two storms but hope they do a little less on New Orleans and cover the little towns that catch the worst of things sometimes. Thanks for all your good reporting. Watched a 9/11 special last night and thought of you and how we watched your reporting all the way through that terrible time. Still think Fox does not utilize you as much as they could. A lot of viewers relate to you and feel you a friend because you helped us all back then to understand what was going on. Thanks…you are one of the best at Fox……what is with all these women now at Fox. We like the male reporters that have made Fox what it is over the years. Take care….

Hey Rick…..Our military know how to take care of themselves and those that they are in charge of. Some of us kept up with the storm in Cuba….and then some of us worry more about our enemies than they do our military. Strange isn’t it. There are always creepy trolls out there now days, but we are sure you are wise to them, Rick. Everyone is wise to them and in spite of the fact that they are irritating nobody pays much attention to them anymore. You people at Fox do a great job covering the weather and bad storms. The MSM, just like the troll, don’t get much attention anymore. We’ve had our fill of propaganda and sour grapes. Thanks Mr. Leventhal. You are one of the good ones. Oh yeah, our Military has been hit by more than just storms and they always do a great job. More than we can say for the sit on their butts complainers in this country.
