California … the Purple State
It’s been 20 years since a Republican candidate carried the ‘Golden State’ and with it, its coveted 55 electoral college votes. But don’t tell that to the McCain Campaign here in California — they are insistent that they’ll compete here and do better than just fight a good fight.
Adam Mendelsohn, who helped with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s election and political turnaround, helps a team that hopes to improve McCain’s chances. He tells me, “Certain Republicans are able to win in California and when you have a Republican , like John Mc Cain who has a proven track record of reaching out to independents , reaching out to disaffected democrats, this is something he built a career on doing. It’s exactly the kind of Republican who poses a real opportunity for us in California.”
To that point, Fox News Contributor and longtime political insider Susan Estrich says, “If anybody can do California on the Republican side, these guys know how to do it and they know how to position it and they know how to play it.”
Both sides agree, while the possibility exists, the money needed to make a win happen might be better spent in several other battleground states like Ohio, or Michigan. Recent polling here shows that McCain’s convention speech won him some support, but he still lags behind Obama, in some cases by double digits.
In 2000 & 2004, President Bush essentially cede California, but McCain has spent time here, has support in Hollywood and has opened a number of offices across the state. Susan says, “You want send a message credibly enough that you might put California in play in order to force the democrats to go to the bank and actually run a campaign here.” Adam concurs, “This is a national campaign, we have to look at the states and we have to be smart about how we campaign. But California is certainly a state he can win. Conventional wisdom is that California is a blue state. I would argue that California is a purple state.”
Remember, Democrats hold a majority in both houses here in California and have done so for most of the last 40 years or so. Also, Democrats have a voter registration edge of 1.8 million voters. BUT, nearly 24 percent of Californians (that’s 3.8 million people) identify themselves as “other” or “decline to state” and the Republicans have elected three out of the last four governors. As Adam tells me, “That makes California not a red state, or a blue state, but a purple state.”
GREAT ARTICLE by Sowell!
This is an excellent article by Thomas Sowell
Idols of Crowds
Opening Paragraph:
“A human group transforms itself into a crowd when it suddenly responds to a suggestion rather than to reasoning, to an image rather than to an idea, to an affirmation rather than to proof, to the repetition of a phrase rather than to arguments, to prestige rather than to competence.”

K2…thanks, i “borrowed” part of that last post.
Just in case someone pops in here —
A headline today was that Obama blames the Republicans the the latest financial crisis….(Lehman filing for bankruptcy)
Just a little history – because by cynic mind is telling me the politicians have selective memories or can only think to the last ‘gotcha’ comment.
The following laws were signed by Clinton.
Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994
and
Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act of 1996
“Amended the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act of 1974 to streamline the mortgage lending process.
Amended the FDIA to eliminate or revise various application, notice, and recordkeeping requirements to reduce regulatory burden and the cost of credit…”
That is why Clinton is given credit for balancing the budget, when it should go to Reagan.
That is why Bush is blamed for the war, when it should go to Clinton.
And, now we have Obama blaming the Reps. for laws he would have been supporting!
I will be voting McCain Palin Love her attitude, It is a “Can Do”
attitude. We need more then just more talk.

Another different article about the Veneuela problem:
——————–
Venezuelan authorities detained a high-ranking navy officer on suspicion of involvement in a purported plot to overthrow President Hugo Chavez.
Chavez insisted the United States was behind the conspiracy and predicted the “plans of the empire, the CIA … trying to topple the government are going to continue.”
Authorities detained Venezuelan Vice Admiral Carlos Millan and turned him over to military prosecutors, Justice Minister Tarek El Aissami told state television. He said Millan is the fifth detained in a group of current and former officers.
The government has released what it says are recordings of the suspects discussing plans for deposing Chavez.
—————-
Another article to read to understand how some of Obama’s positions could affect our prosperity.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122126282034130461.html
We all hear how Obama will only raise taxes on the RICH. And, if we do not see ourselves as one of them, then we may think, why not? They can afford it.
Let’s consider who comprises the RICH. They are the small business owners, who provide 75% of employment. If government is allowed to raise their taxes, they will lose their ability to turn a profit. If the business loses money, they have the following options – 1. Reduce employees (now more are unemployed), 2. Reduce or eliminate expansion or purchase of additional products or services or, 3. Close their doors.
Obama is also pro-union. He indicates he supports the Union’s plan to stop the ‘private ballot’ on union issues. Another words, if the union has an issue, or even wants to begin to unionize a workplace, the employee can no longer vote in private. Their vote would have to be made publicly and open to ridicule or pressure to vote for the union.
I will admit, this is a personal issue of mine, as I have seen what has happened to the state where I grew up – Michigan. They have lost hundreds of thousands of jobs. The largest culprit to this loss of jobs is that Michigan is NOT a Right to Work State. The environment for businesses is so bad – higher taxes, union pressure – that businesses leave……
Obama wants to impose more taxes on businesses. He wants to impose oppressive wage laws. If businesses leave a state and move to a more friendly business state, at least our jobs are still in the USA.
But, what will happen if Obama is able to impose his plan on all of the USA, then where will our businesses go? Where will we find work? If we do not have jobs, how will government be able to fund our necessary programs, let alone its ever blossoming social programs?
Back to politics for a minute………
This is critical reading, if you wonder what happens when our government continues to raise taxes, instead of curbing spending. This article discusses what has been happening in NY and CA. And, if you live in CA and earn a ‘decent’ living, play close attention, your legislature is planning on increasing your income taxes to 12%! Now, a lot of you will not be earning the amount they are discussing, but if these are the people who run the businesses, who employ you, I would be worried about them relocating their business to a more economically friendly state. And, when businesses move – not all employees are able to follow.

that was funny!
Hi Adam, just saw your report on the train crash. Tragic.
All of Fox News is working overtime tonight…..
OT: speaking of a purple state, did you see the tirade unleashed against the (pardon the Frances) Yanquis De M1erda by Boss of Bosses Hugo Chavez on 9/11?
Situational ethics: Chavez has sided with the Russians for occupying and recognizing breakaway regions in Georgia –he even has two Russian bombers in Caracas for show– but when a region in Bolivia wants autonomy from the rule of Chavez’ acolyte Evo Morales—Chavez expels the US ambassador and threatens military action against BOLIVIANS in their own country.
If Zulia state sought autonomy? That’s High Treason. It’s only sauce for South Ossetia and Azkaban–er, Abkhazia. After more than a decade of bellowing about IMPERIALISM!, turns out HUgo quite likes the Russian flavor.
It’s hard to overstate the coarseness, the vulgarity of Chavez tirade against the American people, on
the seventh anniversary of the September eleventh attacks, to boot. It’s dismating that after forty years of democratic, constitutional rule, Venezuela has devolved into this crude, machista, thuggish cult of personality so quickly.
Of course, you don’t have to take my owrd for it. Arch-Marxist Ken Livingstone, erstwhile mayor of London, now a consultant to the Chavez Machine, tells us that quite likes us!

That’s purple prose for you…

I guess we are now going to hear a fair and balanced look at the next upcoming VP. It looks like Hannity is going to get the chance to conduct his own Palin interview.
The interview will air in two parts on his show on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Plus Greta will also interview Sarah’s husband, Todd. That will also air in two parts, on Monday and Tuesday.

A follow up article to the Venezuela crisis:
———–
The United States plans to expel Venezuela’s ambassador in Washington to retaliate for President Hugo Chavez’s decision to expel the U.S. envoy in Caracas.
The U.S. has also imposed sanctions on aides to Chavez in retaliation for his expulsion of the U.S. ambassador.
Venezuela has some of the largest oil reserves outside the Middle East and, despite Chavez’s clashes with the Bush administration, he has maintained oil supplies and never before expelled a U.S. ambassador.
Adam,

Hey Adam-
Some interesting baseball news also
I hope you took some time to honor all of the victims of the attacks that happened several years ago. They will live on in our hearts and Prayers.
—————–
The first two games of this weekend’s series between the Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros have been postponed because of Hurricane Ike.
Baseball officials also were anticipating that Sunday’s series finale also might be postponed. One of the scenarios under consideration was to play a doubleheader Monday, and make up the third game on Sept. 29 if it’s needed to decide a playoff berth.

President Hugo Chavez ordered the U.S. ambassador to leave Venezuela within 72 hours on Thursday, accusing the diplomat of conspiring against his government and saying he would also withdraw his own envoy from Washington immediately.
Chavez made the move in solidarity with Bolivia after his Andean ally expelled the U.S. diplomat there, accusing him of aiding violent protests. He said a new American ambassador will not be welcome in Caracas, suggesting that diplomatic relations will be scaled back until President Bush leaves the White House.

ANWR
Oil shale
Unconventional fuels (like coal-to-liquids or North American tar sands)
Expedited refinery permitting
Expedited nuclear reactor permitting

IS THE ALASKA NATIONAL GUARD CORRUPT? That is the question and many Guardsmen are afraid to speak out for fear of retaliation. Does Sarah Palin know about it is the other question. Due to valid concerns about possible retribution for speaking out, I’m sending this to alert the State and the Governor. This is a National Guard where a General is allowed to promote himself to a third star. He has no reluctance whatsoever to accept a cosmetic promotion. The leaders of this Guard intimidate anyone who stands up to them with truth and honor. It’s just a “good old boy club.” I am a retired Vet and I am angry about this. I wish others would join the cause. Will this be printed?

Thanks for the info. I have never heard of a person being paid to do jury duty, at least not where i live. I guess its different for every country
I just heard on some entertainment show that a well known actor, who is probably a liberal, saying the Pain popularity is out of a bad disney movie. Its very typical of celebs like that to say all kind of off the wall insulting remarks.
Its definately going to be a close race, that is why the debates are going to be important.
FNC has always been getting the top ratings, for the last ten years
Btw, about that other liberal network you mentioned, its beyond amazing how they covered the RNC conventions, the two anchors were supposedly mocking McCain’s speech. How low can that network go?

The majority of meteorologists I have heard dispel the theory of global warming.
The folks trying to make $$$$$$ off the global warming fears (…Al Gore), just simply refuse to let science get in their way.
Oh, and do you recall the images used in Al Gore’s movie showing the reduction of the polar ice caps was really taken from a science fiction movie!!!!!!!!! Why use satellite images, when you can just make stuff up.
Adam
Do you have a link for us for your “fun blog”????? Thank you for your efforts in trying to get us back to instant posting – It just gets frustrating when we cannot discuss issues on your threads.
Hi Adam. Thank you……
Retread – My number 1 issue is the security of our country. Our leaders ability to stand strong and understand that in today’s world, it is as Reagan said Peace through Strength.
As I understand Obama’s position, he wishes to dismantle our weapons program, talk to the likes of Ahmadinejad (as if he will suddenly decide Israel is not evil and it is not his life’s mission to destroy the infidels), and reduce our military.
Since it is the mandate of our Constitution for the Government to PROTECT its citizens, I simply cannot agree with Obama’s position on this very important matter.
My number 2 issue is taxes. Our elected officials have been spending our money with no little oversight. The loss of the Line Item Veto (thank you Rudy Giuliani!) has resulted in necessary bills being laden with unnecessary earmarks.
Plus, the issue of taxing the Rich – is B.S. Increasing taxes on businesses results in less revenue, reduction of the workforce, higher prices, and less revenue in the government coffers.
When our politicians promise all they are going to do for us and fail to discuss the costs of the programs or how they intend to pay for them, I cringe. When they claim they will stop a war and use the money spent on the war to pay for these social programs, I realize the politician believes i am just stupid. How will money we are borrowing – as we have none to spend – going to suddenly become cash in hand?
My number 3 issue is Energy. Do it ALL. And allow free enterprise to take on the task. Get government out of the way.
I could go on, but this post is too long already…..
Brad: normally you get paid to be on a jury.
Latest polls: Palin has really energised a lot of people. If you look most of the time Obama’s numbers are about the same as before, only ever small drops, it’s the undecideds who are flocking to McCain now that Palin is on the ticket.
FNC is getting the best ratings, and MSNBC is still dieing.
Retread: We have had maybe 5 days of summer here this year. But the BBC are still going on about how the artic ice is far smaller than average, even though there was around 30% more sea ice minimum than last year. I hope this doesnt affect McCain’s chances of winning come November. I guess we all know how mean the liberal media can be

It will be called the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, and will be available from T-Mobile USA and with overseas carriers later this year, at an undisclosed price.
The “flip” design, where the display and keyboard are separated by a hinge, is a popular one for conventional cell phones, particularly in the U.S.

Hey all!
My political 2 cents…
As a child I developed an almost hatred for this country and all it stood for. I ‘passed’ Civics class… with a D-. I did participate in class and completed my assignments which is why I passed at all, but when it came to tests I bombed. I did not retain the knowledge, because I had no interest at all in learning about this country. Why should I, when I will be leaving and have my life in another country!
Fast forward to 2002. Still feeling the same at the age of 24, I found my ‘out.’ I moved to Cancun. I was in Mexico for a total of 5 months, but I tell you, I only needed 24 hours to see the error of my ways! I could go on and on reasons why I realized I was wrong in my thinking.
Suffice it to say while I do love Mexico and in some ways I prefer to live there, I am PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN. I refused to vote in ‘96 and ‘00, but you better believe I participated in ‘04 and look forward to voting in November!
Now it is a HUGE pet peeve of mine to hear people dis this country in any way. Even though I used to say the same things. You don’t like it here? GET OUT. Step outside and see what’s really going on, then get back to me. Until then keep it to yourself.
As for immigration, that’s another discussion. I’ll just say the Mexican government is awfully hypocritical.
BTW, I also was grudgingly voting for McCain… until he made his VP pick. WooooHooooooo McCain/Palin!!!

K2 – still a cool name
For me it goes beyond taxes, it is (a partial list) a lack of willingness to drill for oil in America, a lack of political courage to build nuclear power plants, a complete unwillingness to use shale oil, natural gas or coal. Just some pie in the sky alternate fuel, to be delivered to us some time in the next ten or MORE years. Meanwhile we would quickly see gas and diesel prices soar to well over $5.00 a gallon.
His unwillingness to treat threats to the US, Nato, Israel and the world in general seriously. He remained on VACATION in Hawaii when Russia invaded Georgia, his comments where tepid, weak and dangerous.
His refusal to protect the unborn citizens of our nation; even refusing to sign the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.
He is weak on the 2nd Amendment.
He will not support the La. Death Penalty for Child Molesters.
He changes postitions when it suites his political motives…then changes back again. See his speech on Energy Policy… then see his interview on the Oreily Show, do you hear the differences!?
He has ZERO experiance on most everything of importance
Finally his desire to socialize medicine.
Ken
Good Post
But, Bush was not there simply because of Hurricane Gustave, but he did give a taped speech.
You missed McCain’s point on experiance, he has stood up to his own party and President on numerous accasions, with McCain’s experiance in the Senate he will be in a prime postition to make some changes that will be best for America (in his opinion) not necessarily best for his party.
Gov. Palin IS far more experianced in decision making than Obama. She has taken on corrupt Republican officials and won!! She understands Energy, not just oil but all forms of energy and that alternate forms are years away from replacing oil.
Oh and McCains 90% vote with President Bush, is better than Obama’s 100% vote with Sen. Reid and Rep. Pelosie (SP?)
Remember Ken, it was McCain’s plan and political clout that lead to the “surge” that is leading to stability and victory in Iraq. It is also my guess that McCain was at least partially responsible in the long overdue resignation of Sec. of Def. Rumesfeld…Obama said the war was lost and his plan was to “bring our troops home now” as if he knew (he does not) how the troops feel about victory or defeat in Iraq.
This is rich. When California goes blue, Repubs write it off as a crazed liberal state. Now that it might go red, it’s the land of Reagan and Nixon.
If only there had been some polls in California that put Obama and McCain head-to-head. Oh, wait, there have. And Obama gets an average of 52% of the vote and McCain 38%. Palin would have to make a huge difference.
Well done, Fox News. With crack reporting like this, maybe we can finally find the WMDs in Iraq.
Distortion-
Is that the best you can do? Did you actually read the story or watch the reports, or did you just read the headline? AND….because you have obviously drank the punch….let me remind you that there was never a question of whether weapons of mass destruction existed in Iraq….that is well documented by the UN….the question is….where did they go? We should all be concerned.
Adam
Wow, you know I have to admit to some apathy in Presidential elections, as I know my vote NEVER counts in California.. It can really be frustrating when people let movie and rock stars who are totally out of touch and have no idea what is going on in mainstream America or the work that goes into trying to keep life together influence their vote. The Day after McCain’s VP pick was announced, I got in touch with my local Republican headquartes and signed on to volunteer… McCain is the candidate who will reach across the aisle to work with Democrats to get things done. He has proven he is proud to be an American. We may have problems, but there isn’t another Country in the World that Obama could have even started to achieve what he has yet we have to hear his wife stand up and say she is ashamed of America… Here’s to hoping common sense may yet return to California!!
Brad…im surprised at your view on voting. Actually I’m shocked. You consistantly side against the Liberal view, but you won’t stand up and vote for your views?
Did you ever think that by not voting against someone…..you in turn give him the vote?
I’m like sunshine, I ALWAYS vote. Its my right, and my duty to do so.

Hey Adam-
What do you think about that nasty remark from BHO calling Sarah Palin a “pig with lipstick”? Its amazing how this guy can resort to this kind of stuff. It just goes to show you his true personality and unexperience when it comes to the issues.
I’m so happy to read this news! I love the McCain/Palin ticket and I agree that California is mostly purple; and I’m very enthusiastic for these two candidates’ convictions to really work on the issues of energy, economy, non-social healthcare, education, they give me hope and confidence that they can lead us into a better future because they have the experience and know-how to do the job and “a servant’s heart”. What a blessing to have them running for office.

well ken, i cant say a agree with much you said, but i’ll give ya one thing….
its a different version than i’ve seen over and over again.
I love it. My comment to some friends who do not live in California was about this very subject. I think to many people assume that Obama has California. I do not believe he does especially between Independents, Undeclareds and Republicans. The only reason the democrats still control the legislature is because they have been able re-district and ensure their control in the state legislature. Also, the additon of Proposition 8 on the ballot will be driving a lot more voters to the polls because we do not want our children to be taught that the gay life style is okay in elementary schools.
McCain is a great fit for most voters in California.
Hi Adam and everyone.
Still no instant posting? argh.
re “strictly objective”
I’ll respect your choice, but the cry baby Bush cr*p has gotten old. Please save it…..and maybe you could benefit from a refresher course on how our gov’t system works while you are at it. Congress is DEMOCRATIC ruled……….gee, now who do we blame?
I can’t say much more than what retread said. he says it better than i can.
I’m voting McCain/Palin! She’s added a sense of hope that we definitely needed!
I’d still rather be voting Huckabee, but I’ll take McCain out of necessity.
This alone is enough to vote Republican:
>From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’
John McCain is known for doing what he believes is right regardless of the consequences. No political expediency for McCain. John McCain has a reputation for being a Maverick and an unimpeachable reputation of serving and loving his country. …..unimpeachable until now.
McCain is 72 years old; this is his last, best chance for the presidency. He has to win it, he won’t be viable (if he lives) at the next election – and he knows it.
His republican convention distanced itself from Bush as far as possible. No Bush, no Cheney, no mentions, yet he agrees with his colleague Bush 90% of the time.
McCain’s platform was experience, until it wasn’t. Then, he became the republican replacing a republican “candidate of change”.
A few weeks ago when McCain burned the midnight oil – agonizing over who should assume the most powerful position on Earth in the event of his early death – choose Sarah Palin. Is Sarah the most qualified person, female or not, to take on this awesome responsibility? She’s interesting, but NO.
Cleary John McCain snubbed his friend and sitting President for political expediency. Clearly McCain is pandering for votes with gimmick VP choices. Clearly John McCain is sinking to unsavory levels in his bid to win. We are all watching a sad, unfortunate transformation; he is selling his sole grasping for his last dream.
In fairness, most politicians do all of the above. But not THE John McCain who tearfully spoke of his Hanoi transformation to unselfish, unflinching devotion to honor and ‘country first’.
John McCain IS the candidate of change, unfortunately it is his own change we are watching , and it is giving us all pause.
Hey Adam-
I am sure you have heard about that UFC fighter Evan Tanner, who was found dead after a journey into the desert.
What are your thoughts on it?
I occasionally watch those UFC matches from time to time, epsecially the ones with BJ Penn.
Have a great evening.
Brad-
I heard about it, but didn’t follow it…so, I don’t have much of an opinion. Sorry.
Adam
Re: comment by “strictly objective”
You think anybody who supports McCain is stupid?
I think you are the stupid one.
In this dangerous world you want to give the leadership of the free world to a 40 something year old former community organizer with absolute zero military and absolute zero foreign policy experience who happens to be an excellent orator? Someone who thinks the US president should sit down and talk with the lunatic Ahmaddogonajihad and the Mullahs? What is there to talk about? They want to become a nuclear weapons power and you think for one minute they would hesitate to bomb Europe,
Israel, Saudi Arabia, our troops in Iraq, or even the US? They believe martyrdom has its rewards.
You think Putin and Medvedev would have any respect for him? What are you smoking?
Retread – Welcome back!
Two great posts, by the way!
Strictly Objective – well, you can count me as one of the ‘just plain stupid’
I will take the guy/gal who is willing to put “Country First” any day!
And, if you are so worried about the economy, please understand that increasing taxes is the WORST plan when an economy is slowing (if it is…..). McCain has promised to maintain President Bush’s Tax Cuts. Obama has promised to reverse the same tax cuts…..
Here’s an example of what will happen to your net pay, if Obama wins….AND this does not include other tax increases on business, capital gains, estate, FICA, etc.
INCOME TAX
MCCAIN
(no changes)
Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 125K – tax $31,250
OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!
I live in Texas. I am an independent who will vote for McCain/Palin. The ticket not the party. I was unsure about McCain, yet when he choose Palin I became interested. After his speach at the RNC, McCain, not Palin sold me. The speech itself was good, but one line in particular made perfect sense “We are going to stop sending $700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much. Finally, I said to myself someone is hearing me.
Just want to add my 2 cents. I am very excited about Sarah Palin running for VP. I never thought McCain would have the courage to choose a female VP…it was a bold choice and proved he is willing to shake things up in Washington.
Strictly Objective,
I will never vote for any person that knowingly professes that the answer to this nations problems is to socialize any institution. Government is not my God, our govt. has limited powers for a good reason and that is the revolutionary concept of personal responsibility. It is not the place of our govt. or our leaders or even the people to decide if somebody is legally “to rich.” It is not the place of our govt. to re-distribute wealth to be more fair.
Obama and the Dems are sadly mistaken if they think that their path to defeat in Iraq, is supported by the majority of our fighting men and women and their families…its just the opposite…I proudly wear the uniform (yes I’ve been there) and I DO NOT know more than one soldier who wants to leave Iraq the way Obama or the Democrates are suggesting. In fact the arguements that Obama is currently making of “getting the Iraqis to stand on their own,” is precisely what has been happening the past year or so. Anbar Province, was a hell hole UNTIL the Iraqi people and local officials tired of Al Quda’s barbaric ways. The tribal “awakening” was something our Special Operations have been working on for years!!
Defeat is not an option!! If we set a time table the Iraqi people will lose faith in us and there will be chaos, the avg. Iraqi does want us to leave but only when they (the people) are sure that their govt. is strong enough to ensure the collective and individual security and personal rights as defined by their constitution.
By the way if you are so concerned for the “little guy” and/or small business why not support the Fair Tax Plan?
I am a registered Republican my husband is a registered Democrat. We both vote for the candidate and not for the party. Our vote will be with McCain and Palin. The area we live in is 30 miles north of the City of Santa Barbara. It is a relatively small population (5000 in my town of Solvang alone) and is mainly conservative. Santa Barbara City leans liberal. In our county it is a 50/50 split. That is huge for the conservatives. Three out of four of our adult sons (they are in their 20’s) will also be voting for McCain and Palin. McCain to me will work with and not against the other party. As he put it country first. Hilary just gave an us against them speach the other day. “We have to put a Democrat in office.” Even though she ran a vicious campaign against Obama stating he wasn’t capable of running the White House. Not the kind of mentality and judgement I want to running our great country.
Thank God McCain is coming to California, my homestate I miss! I am in Colorado and campaigning for him here heavily! I have lots of family in CA and they are all voting McCain/Palin. They are in San Diego and Riverside, CA.
Go get them people! Get the vote for McCain/Palin!
I am praying for all of you!
I think people of all races should be very concerned about this guy……his allegiance does not appear to be solely dedicated to this country. Too many skeletons in his closet for me to feel comfortable with him as president.
This lady has a point.
Obama’s 143 Days of Senate Experience
Posted by Cheri Jacobus
May 5, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama have in terms of actual work days? Not much.
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That’s how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.
After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Ronald Reagan.
143 days — I keep leftovers in my refrigerator longer than that.
In contrast, John McCain’s 26 years in Congress, 22 years of military service including 1,966 days in captivity as a POW in Hanoi now seem more impressive than ever. At 71, John McCain may just be hitting his stride.
Think about IT!!!
Think you know who this man is?
This possible President of the United States !! Read Below and
ask yourselves, is this REALLY someone we can see as the
President of our great nation!!!!
Below are a few lines from Obama’s books; In his words!
>From Dreams of My Father: ‘I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.’
From Dreams of My Father : ‘I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race.’
From Dreams of My Father: ‘There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.’
From Dreams of My Father: ‘It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.’
From Dreams of My Father: ‘I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.
>From Audacity of Hope: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.’
* If you have never forwarded an e-mail, now is the time to Do so!!!! We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!
Just me-
Be careful with your accusations/worries about candidate Obama. I haven’t met Obama, but I do think he loves this country like any one of us. It comes down to the meat of the argument. I disagree with an earlier post, I think the ideas of both candidates are getting out. I’ll be it amongst some other junk. It comes down to taxes, international relations and other issues. Make your decision on that.
Adam
been a while people but I’m back…for better or worse, I don’t know.
I was not excited at all with Sen. McCain’s nomination and I didn’t really care if the Republicans won or not (I was still voting for McCain but only while holding my nose) that is until he chose Palin, now I’m pumped.
I believe that this nation needs a (gag) change but that will never mean going weak and/or socialist. McCain will provide the expertise on defense and Palin will be in the wings to provide leadership on energy and since she is a pitbull with lipstick I believe that she will never tolerate the radicals that would place a Polar Bear, owl or rat before your income.
Also if the McCain/Palin bill is successful that Gov. Palin will make an outstanding President in four to eight years…maybe her VP nominee will be Gov. Jindal of La. I can dream cann’t I?
By the way where the hell is global warming its been cold this summer in South Dakota only 5 days where the temps hit 90 or more the rest has been in the low 80s or upper 70s and September has been really cool…morning temps are DOWN in the 30s across the state with highs in the 60 to 70 range.
Oh yeah Hi Adam
Retread-
You and a few others went on some serious vacation time! BUT….welcome back!
Adam
Politics! One of my favorite subjects…..
I hope hope hope those 3.8 million undeclared voters get out and vote for McCain.
As Sarah Palin just said……”Government is not always the answer and all too often Government is the problem”!
Lets help get McCain / Palin elected so they can shake up Washington and maybe, just maybe, we will finally see some action from our elected ’servants’.
Adam, any chance of instant posting returning???????????????? Really would like to discuss the issues with your well educated and involved bloggers here.
Hey all….
love this race……..
where did everyone go?
Hey Max-

——————–
With eight weeks until the election, Fox News Channel is partnering with Rasmussen Reports to conduct weekly polls of likely voters in five key tates. The polling results will be released every Monday until election time.
This week’s states include Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Max-
What do you think about the latest poll numbers? McCain is up ahead by four point in one poll, and even more in another.
Just imagine, if you were to move to the US, you can actally particiapte in all the excitement of the elections
What do you think about the way the liberal media is attacking Sarah Palin? Its amazing, how left wing politics has resorted to this.
On an extremely serious note.
Any one who votes for mccain/palin is just plain stupid.
The republicans are not talking about the ECOMONY at all. Everyone knows that this is the most important issue.
The republicans talking points are based on embellishing mccain military profile, palin gender and using fear to gain votes.
If everyone agrees that this country is upside down, and it is the republicans that caused it to be that way, then why on earth is the american people even considering a mccain/palin ticket? It goes against general COMMON SENSE.
Come november, this election will truly test how smart the american people are.
Objective-
You are exactly the opposite of your title. Whether you like McCain-Palin or not, to say that Americans are stupid because they don’t agree with your choice….well…..that in itself is stupid. You make some baseless accusations, so feel free to return and give some examples. Funny thing is, I think both candidates have gotten away from issues and I hope that will return. Unfortunately in this political age, things are a bit ugly.
Adam
Brad – how disappointing to read your reasoning for not voting. It is such an HONOR to vote and a privilege we have, we thank those who have died in battle for that privilege. I am what they call a “super” voter because I vote at EVERY election! Here in FL I have been told that it is from the elections office that they get the names for jury duty as well. I have often hoped I’d get a jury duty notice in the mail but the only time I was ever called was for Federal Court and I was pregnant and would have to drive an hour to get to the court house. They did not select me and I figure it was due to those reasons. Maybe one day…
I hope this election you do vote and are happy and excited to do so.
I am working on McCain’s campaign in Napa and I was so happy when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate! Our phones have been ringing off the hook and we have had Democrats phone banking for us. I am hoping this is the year we change California back to red.
NAPA !!!!!!!
My hometown!! So cool.
Adam
This race is getting pretty interesting, especially when the electoral college votes are examined.
If McCain can win CA, he will likely win overall.
It’s been a while since I have checked on your blog and I had to get caught up. Great behind the scenes videos, Adam!
Just over a week ago I thought for sure McCain had absolutley no chance of beating Obama. Then when he announced Palin as his running mate, I didn’t think it improved his chances much which just goes to show what I know.
What a difference a week makes though because now it looks like it might actually be a tight race. I wish that we could actually hear more about the issues from both viewpoints instead of the same talking points that get repeated over and over again. “More of the same” is all Obama’s people are saying and McCain is just pushing the “maverick” thing too much. Hopefully the debates get down to the core of the candidates.
Emily-
Welcome back and stop on over more often. I promise Susan and others wont bite!
Adam
BRAD BRAD BRAD (shaking head side to side)
How very very sad that you would choose NOT to vote because you are afraid of being called for Jury Duty. Not only is that a cowardly decision, is also shows a lack of civic concern and duty.
I was under the impression that they get names for Jury Duty from the Department of Motor Vehicles, but maybe each State is different.
