Hurricanes Ike and Gustav dealt America’s Gulf Coast oil refineries a double blow. The temporary disruption is causing a ripple effect throughout the region.
Here in Atlanta, plastic bags on nozzles have become commonplace as many gas stations run out of fuel. Those with working pumps have long lines of cars. Today, we’re reporting live from one of those working stations.
Adding to the lines, people topping off their tanks in anticipation of continued shortages. But oil industry officials say the problem would likely resolve itself if consumers returned to their normal habits.
Most consumers, that is. As my wife will tell you, I’m notorious for riding on fumes. Today was not a good day for that. Click on the video to watch the minor energy crisis I faced on the way to work.
