Inside the Vote!

7:33 AM:  Greetings from a voting station in midtown New York…lines are long, and people here are getting aggrivated inside the cramped building where there doesn’t seem to be a lot of organization. At least everyone was greeted with a smile before we got inside by a last minute campaigner.

8:14 AM: I don’t know what it’s going to be like where you will vote today, but I just left one hot crowded unorganized polling place here in New York.  If you’ve ever been at a concert, and tried to get to the front of the stage, that is what it felt like trying to get to the voting booth where I was today in Midtown Manhattan.   People were being herded into district lines, then told to go to another line, and start over.  Voters who came prepared with wearing coats hats and gloves, were peeling them off as fast as they could as the temperature quickly rose in the cramped building.  As I was standing in line I was listening to those around me who were saying, “I can’t believe this!” “What a mess!” “I’ve never seen it this bad here!”  At one point, a NYPD officer who was there in the lobby made his way to the front of the line and took control and in a loud booming voice started re-directing people to get the situation under control… and this was at 6:45a.m.!   Hopefully things will improve as more volunteers get in place.  At least voters were greeted with a smile from a last minute campaigner Saul Farber who is running State Assembly.  He was working the line, shaking hands, asking people to vote for change.  I felt compelled to get out of line and ask him exactly what he meant by that and what he planned to do…. I couldn’t help myself.

Good luck at the polls today, hope you get out there and vote, and that you get a sticker!  I couldn’t believe that my polling place didn’t have any of the “I voted today” stickers that you proudly wear all day long to let the world know you voted.   They told me “they didn’t get any this year.”  Budget cutbacks?

Arrived to get in line to vote in Watertown, MA at 6:30am. There were about 20 people ahead of me and about 75-100 people in line by the time the doors opened. No problems, very smooth. Sadly, one lady decided to leave in order to not be late for work. Thank you so much to everyone nationwide who waits it out!

Only in this country can the voting places be disorganized with equipment that doesn’t work — was this election day a surprise? Did the officials not know a year ago that today was the national election? They had a whole year to make sure things work.

So much for the voting. Now anyone who believes that fraud isn’t going on and that some votes won’t be counted, please raise your hands—-I want to see how many idiots there are.

polls in massachusetts showing large turn outs, i waited about 40 minutes to vote, a little crowded but i wanted to vote early, because the later you vote the longer the line, driving to work past another polling place the line was down the street and that was at 9:00 am …god bless america..

When I voted this morning in Carmichael, CA, the machines weren’t scanning at all. About 20 people in line after I was done voting. I was second in line and everyone was in a good mood. Didn’t Laura used to work as a night jock at KRXQ in Sacto as well? That should be in her bio!!! I was the night DJ guy a KWOD. Looks like you’re doing well to be in NY! Congrats!

It’s called absentee ballot folks. I voted by absentee ballot or I would not have voted at all. No lines for this 71 yr old. I live in Minnesota, I faxed in a form asking for absentee ballot , it arrived in the mail two days later, filled in it, mailed it in. All done.

What gets me is I can go up to a ASTM machine in London and with my bank (visa) card withdraw money. Banks use computers, utility companies use computers and your statement is always correct. Why can’t we come up with a voting machine like that. You could be in Europe on election day and be able to vote. Of course you would have to have a voter card or some other way to access the machine, and then simply cast your vote.

This is for jjknox, even with all of the problems that occurs with the equipment, this is still the best country. You can always move to IRAN, or some other place like that maybe then you really do not have it that bad
