I think it’s a disgrace that a man with no experience and questionable views and associations can be elected president. The mainstream media needs to start reporting the new instead of making it. Obama has been their little darling from the beginning and it’s shameful.

Have you ever felt sick in your stomach and your heart at the same time? Unsure whether to cry or vomit, or both? That is how I feel this morning. What is wrong with this country? What has happened to us? We are a great country that has somehow lost its way; we are fatcats wanting what we want when we want it, preferably Right Now. And if we can’t have it right now, it’s usually someone else’s fault. Never our own, of course. The housing train wreck? What happened to (ostensible) adults saying a firm “no” to the greedy mortgage lenders? My own 25-year old newly-wed and college-graduated daughter and her new husband recently were approved for a home loan in excess of $300,000. They responsibly turned it down and opted for a home loan they could afford – more in the $125K margin. And yet our money-burning government throws money at the screaming lenders like it’s Halloween candy. Where is the regulation? Where is the responsibility?

Ohio…..the only state in the nation where your dead grandmother and your pet goldfish can vote. Together. And if you are African-American, step up to the figurative head of the line and put your vote out there for sale because it’s not a vote. It’s a sellable commodity. The Black Panthers were in force, literally, at a voting precinct in Philadelphia yesterday. At least one member was a registered poll watcher. Someone tell me how in this country a radical Black Panther, we are told waving a nightstick, has been allowed to be a registered poll watcher. Only in America. I love African-Americans; I grew up surrounded by them and some of them are my very closest and most loved friends and like family to me. So don’t even think of calling me anything likened to a racist. But I know what I see.

ACORN…..now there is a disgusting, heartsickening joke if there ever was one. Who was the female ACORN leader last week on video blaming everything wrong on the “right wing” as she called it, and telling everyone in the audience to vote for Obama? And this is supposed to be a bipartisan, fair organization paid for by my hard-earned tax dollars? ACORN is an embarrassing, crass and pathetic mess and represents everything corrupt about American government.

The U.S. Supreme Court? Apparently a whole lot of people have forgotten about that super-secret entity where the average American taxpayer isn’t allowed in. Right up there with the IRS. Two American government entities that are downright frightening in their great power and yet little accountability. When was the last time anyone raised the question of what surely will be Obama’s radical appointee(s) to the Supreme Court in the next four years? Have we forgotten for how many, many years these appointments by one President affects us all afterward? Again, where is the accountability? Where is the American taxpayer’s choice in this?

Abortion…I know this issue personally inside and out, having formerly been pro-choice and am now pro-life. I’ve earned the right, the hard way, to change my view on this issue. How many people know – or care – that Obama voted against the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act human rights legislation not once but four times? Understand that these infants are viable infants, capable of living outside the womb. What is Obama’s self-crafted definition of a living human being, deserving of human rights protection legislation – - whether or not it has passed through the birth canal or not? Apparently so. What amazes me, repeatedly, is that the prototype radical liberal is more concerned about protecting the life of a person on death row, or the life of a puppy, than the life of an infant human being. For the record, I am an ardent supporter of the abolition of capital punishment since its reinstatement in 1976.

Spreading the wealth…. what’s up with freeloaders, and those without even so much as a social security number (and possibly citizenship?), receiving part of what I have worked hard to earn? Giving my money that I sacrificed to earn, to someone with their hand perpetually out and their nose out of joint, with a “you owe me” mentality, makes me want to vomit. This is a set-up for failure. No one can respect themselves receiving handouts when they failed to earn or deserve it. And yet what a foolproof way to buy the votes of minorities and the loyalty of those non-citizens who come here to take everything they can from paying Americans.

CNN…thanks alot for showing your radical leanings last evening…..stupidly showing McCain’s electoral vote total at 34 when it was already well over forty, for over an hour. Tell me you didn’t have the correct, most up-to-the minute figures right at hand – just like Fox News did.

Preconditions…..Obama has proudly stated that he would be willing negotiate with terrorists. He would probably even serve high tea to them. A black man is the leader of the free world this morning, because people fought for that right a long time ago. I have all my life supported that, and I do still. But what this stupid, stupid man utterly does not comprehend is that countless thousands in this country died over the centuries, in defense of this country, to ensure that we have the freedoms that we enjoy and take so deeply for granted, and that we do not negotiate with terrorists. Not now, not ever. You cannot reason with a drunk, and you cannot negotiate with extremists who consider it a joy to die a violent death to make their point (which is what, exactly?). Understand the difference between Islamists, and zealots; crazed, hyperviolent fanatics who pathetically use the Muslim faith as their crutch. Nothing, nothing will ever appease them. But this stupid President of ours fails to understand that. To our detriment, you can be sure.

This country’s leadership disgusts and sickens me. I am nearly 50 years old and today is the first day that I have felt sick and deeply embarrassed for the United States of America. We have written God out of our schools, tried to write Him out of our Pledge of Allegiance, we conveniently mistake a “woman’s right to abortion” as her choice superseding the human rights of the unborn. Make no mistake – her right to choose ends where her life ends and the baby’s life starts. Obama will only pave the way for more abortions, and the outright infanticide (it is nothing less) of fully-viable baby boys and girls; he has demonstrated this already. A country is known by how it treats its most defenseless.

Last night Obama had the effrontery to proclaim “God Bless America” in his acceptance speech. It felt like a deliberate slap across the face. I am left wondering what his extremely radical publicized friends think of this. He has yet to denounce his relationships with these questionable people to a degree that satisfies most of the nation. And yet he unbelievably was voted in. One extremist friendship discovered is enough…..two or three or more? This is far, far too much. I am a believer in the “where there’s smoke there’s probably fire” theory. Only the person in staunch denial is willing to overlook these alarming “friendships”. Something I distinctly heard Obama utter in the first of the three debates, in a response to McCain….”Your president”. “Your” president? How about “our” president? Not one media pundit or concerned voter that I am aware of mentioned this.

All I heard, over and over and over again for months, was the primary concern that voters had about their taxes / the economy. Are we so dulled senseless that we cannot or will not see and plan past the tips of our own noses, or past the next paycheck? As long as Obama promises tax relief, he’s voted in? Is this really a nation of stupidity? Do we really care for nothing more than the almighty gas pump and the deductions from our paycheck?

I never heard Obama talk about honor, about integrity, about sterling character, about serving this country, about honesty. Yet these are the topics that McCain covered again and again. If anyone was ever qualified to lead this country, it was John McCain.

I am embarrassed today to be an American.

A real sad day for America. Nothing has changed, Obama is still the same person many real conservative Christians said he is. America will change, but I wonder how many will like the change. I think that Americans have made the biggest mistake of their lives. They voted on emotion not on facts and reality. Well, we know that God is still in control of everything. As America is not a major player in the end times, I guess this may be the beginning of the end for America. If we do not stand behind Israel God will let us have a justice that no one wants. We will all be on our knees before long asking God what do we do now. He will say well you voted for him. My only pondering reflection that I care to opine is that in hindsight it has become very clear where women stand in this country. As a die hard Republican it pains me to say it but this is the end of the Republican Party as we know it … perhaps the end of the GOP altogether. The clip was on Fox News this morning. Bill Henner kept saying in disbelief “Was that the hammer & sickle? Was that the hammer & sickle?” It was awful. The reality set in and we are screwed.

I know very few here will agree but today is the first day in 8 years that I can honestly say that I am proud to be an American. I feel as though we have been lifted out of oppression. To all you McCain supporters, I understand how upset you are about the results. I would be saying this even if Obama had not won last night, now is not the time to name call nor to stop caring. We have forgotten in the polarization that has pervaded our country in recent years that though we may disagree, we are all still Americans. The very fact that we can disagree and still work together to accomplish great things is one of our greatest strengths. I have been told for the past 8 years that I should still respect the office of the President, even if I don’t like or agree with the man who holds it. Now I ask that of all the people out there who are already wishing failure upon the President-elect. We are nothing if we are not united. If nothing else at least appreciate the fact that as a country we have finally reached the point that an African-American can be elected to the highest office in the land, and what an impact that fact alone will have not only on race relations in this country, but also the way in which the rest of the world views us. I am sure that I have just invited the derision of many posting here, so let it begin.

I could not vote because I am not a citizen yet only a resident and I am very sorry not that my vote could change anything but at least I would have a good feeling that I can vote for good thing.

Those Americans who voted for Obama do not realize it well unfortunatelly lot of people did not vote for reason of change or even knowing what are Obama’s plans but only because of the color of his skin which is sad but truth.

Wow, after reading all these posts I realize that they all reflect a little of what I feel. This was only the 2nd election I took part in. I didn’t vote in the first Bush election even though I was old enough because I didn’t believe in either party at the time and I followed my own rule then, I didn’t vote, I don’t get to complain about the state of the Union. That is a right held by those who help shape it BUT, i voted during the war as my heart told me with the hopes that we were doing the right thing. My family has shed it’s blood in every American war since the 1900’s and it has allowed me and everyone who has the priveledge to call this great country home the life we have.

I am so proud that I was alive to see such a historical event as the first African American elected president but I agree with the person who said, he is not the right one. However, done is done and those same Americans who voted him in will be crying with the rest of us within a year over the changes he is going to make. I am sure there are people who supported McCain who will never give Obama a fair chance, I won’t be one of them. I will give him a chance to live up to the promises he made and the things he said although I fear in my heart that he will fail utterly. My forefathers and many of yours gave their lifes blood for a day like today, but a better man should have been in those shoes.

I pray that the light of the Universe shines on this man and he has the ability to put his personal agenda down and work for the people as we so desperately need. America has always stood for a dream of freedoms and I think we have achived that today, to see the first African American President… further evidence that we live in the greatest country in the world, I just hope that the America I have been brought up to love, cherish, and if need be die for didn’t die last night with this election.

Let us hope that Obama surrounds himself with better people than his choices so far on the cabinet, just as we cannot afford another 9/11 we cannot afford another Clinton either, someone who left us open to those attacks in the first place.

This man is NOT my president; he’s a liberal whose views are so far from my own that I have decided I will not listen to him at any time or for any reason other than if a terrorist attacks the United States or he decides to round up Jews or conservatives and place them in concentration camps. It astounds me to think that Americans are gullible enough to elect Obama for President. So it’s a “historical” election- big deal- it’s the history made AFTER the election that counts. All the hype and big promises got him elected, but we will see if there is ANY truth to them. As for promising “change”, yes, we will see change, but probably no change for the better! But America is no different that we are as individuals; many times we learn best from our mistakes, and I believe that we will learn alot from an Obama presidency, but it will cost us alot. In other words, be careful what you ask for, because you just may get it.
As the song says, “America, America, God shed His grace on thee”……because we will definitely be needing it more than ever before!

I’m happy Obama won because I want an end to global warming, universal health care, & peace in the Middle East all of which someone besides me is going to pay for (the oil companies and Walmart, I think). Also, I’m going to use that tax cut I’m going to get to buy a High Definition TV so I can watch me some Reality TV using green power (the coal companies are paying for that I think, at least until they go bankrupt, but I know at least it won’t be me). Hope and $2.50 should buy you a cup of coffee but you probably won’t get Change.

I only hope the press treats Obama as well as they have treated Bush. What goes around should come around, right?

FOX News fair and balanced is the best joke told this election season. I only wish that they would admit it. Even MSNBC realized that their commentator was being biased and removed him from the election coverage. Not Fox their show FOX and Friends is so biased that frequently I have to turn the channel just so I balance out the news coverage. I will admit that every news agency was clearly guilty of leaning one way or the other but in my opinion Fox and MSNBC were the most transparent. If Fox had of removed BIASED Hannity fro news coverage I would have had more respect for them. I will still watch Fox occasionally because you have to hear both sides but they have truly shown their colors and they are clearly Republican Red.

For the first time in my life, I can say that this morning when I woke up and found out that Obama won the presidential election, I felt such a sense of fear, you know, that “gut” feeling that tells you to run or to turn the other way. Fear that I as an American am no longer safe and now I truly question if I want to start a family and bring a new life into this unsettled country so-called the “UNITED” States of America.
All I can say is that I will pray all the more for our country and it’s president

I apologize to the Dems for what i said earlier on another forum. I said some down grading things and i do apologize. I am a republican and a proud one, but it’s not my intensions to be cutting or cruel to others. The devil got my tail and when i read other cutting comments i went with them and did the same. I will just sit back and see what happens and let God take control of these next 4 years.

With the recent events of the election unfolding as history before our eyes people are still blind to what reality is and what is fictional. One side would be happy and the other not whoever won this election. I’m sure people are cursing Obama’s name and are hoping horrible things will happen during his term so they can say “I told you so”. From some of the comments above people seem to think that it is the media distorting reality of the Bush presidency. If this is so why has his approval rating dropped all the way to 22%? If the true Republicans really felt he was doing a good job it should only get to 45%. With his rating being the lowest of any American President it shows that even his own people have doubts on what he has done and where he has taken our country over the past two terms. The voice of a new generation has spoken (Gen Y). Helping others helps everyone. It is not socialism if life is made better for people. No longer are politics as simple as “America” only and forget everyone else. People forget that this country was founded on virtues of freedom and we would not be here if our previous generations did not immigrate here for their personal freedoms. For comments made by some of the people above it is sad that even when making negative attacks on a candidate the insult is spelled, used, or not even right at all. Like the “Bill Dunlaps” of the world thinking Obama is‘MusliN’ (Muslin is a type of cloth, he meant Muslim, oops!) it is probably a good idea to make accusations on facts and not racism or prejudice. People fail to realize that those who voted for McCain will end up getting more help through Obama’s plans than McCain’s. In comparing the experience of Obama and McCain one has to be blind to see who the choice of VP’s were. Palin has NO experience whatsoever and McCain thought it would be a good idea to choose her. Obama knows he does not have the experience compared to McCain but choose Biden who will balance that out. It is an insult to this country and those who have fought to make it what it is today to say “a hockey mom” can come from the stands and run the country. I think her interviews with Katie Couric and other members of the media show her inability to understand and coherently give an answer. On Jan 20, 2009 History will be made. Regardless of our political affiliation I am sure we all want the best for our people, red or blue.

If I am to believe all of the utter drivel being posted here about how Obama will make this a “socialist state” and ruin the country, then I, as well as all those posting said nonsense, should pack up and leave now. He is one part of the 3-chamber systyem in this country. For you to think that he can single-handedly, even if he truly wanted to, turn this country into a socialist state is complete idiocy. Even with a Democratic-controlled congress he couldn’t do it. All this talk of redistribution of wealth, it’s called taxation, every president has had it.
