American Idol is Back!

TV American Idol

‘American Idol’ is back, as Season 8 premieres tonight!  David Archuleta, Season 7 runner-up, told me in an interview last night he can’t wait to tune in!
Archuleta hinted that he might be interested in returning to the show as a mentor, because he knows just how the contestants feel.  He also says Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks inspired him during his run on the show.

FOX News crews in Los Angeles interviewed judge Randy Jackson last night.  He says he saw great talents in Salt Lake City, Kansas City and in Puerto Rico. Plus, the new fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi, stopped by FOX News headquarters in New York last week to give us a sneak peek at the show.  She told us about one of the hopefuls we’ll see on tonight’s premiere.

“We call her bikini girl because she came in in a bikini which she looked amazing in, but this wasn’t a Coppertone commercial, this was a singing competition.  And it’s really difficult to judge someone in a bikini and take seriously what they were singing.”

And to hear more Season 8 scoop from DioGuardi, Jackson and Archuleta, check out the clip:

We’d love to hear from you – click “comments” below, and tell us if you’ll be tuning in tonight!

If AI can find another Archuleta 2.0 who can kick adults singers’ butt musically along with good looks, a unique and powerful voice on perpect pitch, and who can play instruments and has golden personalities, I will be the Idol fan forever.

Like millions of other fans, I am really looking forward to American Idol starting tonight~!
My only hope is, that they show more of the good auditions, and far fewer Gong Show contestants.

Can a contestant who didn’t make the top 24 one year, come back and try a 2nd time?

GO IDOL, YEAH~!

I LOVE THIS SHOW EVERY ONE IN MY FAMILY LOVES IT TO

yes, tonight is the night for American Idol season 8. I look forward to see the new American Idol judge.

I will be watching but I can’t imagine that they could ever find talent as good as David Archuleta again. It took 7 years to find a true male pop star with one of the most amazing voices I ever heard come through my TV. But I will tune in and see.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE WASNT AS MANY BAD AUDITIONS! THATS THE FUN PART ABOUT THE FIRST FEW WEEKS. IF YOU ARE NOT SHOWING IT FOR THE REASON THAT THE JUDGES CAN BE MEAN… WELL THE CONTESTIONS KNOW THIS GOING ON THE SHOW AND IF THEY ARE THAT WORRIED THEN THEY SHOULDNT TRY OUT AND MAYBE THEIR FAMILY SHOULDNT LET THEM TRY OUT. I MEAN SERIOUSLY SUCK IT UP ESPECIALLY IF YOUR NOT GOOD AND YOU WEARING A FUNKY COSTUME…ITS OBVIOUSLY NOT REALLY. SO JUST LET US SEE IT, ITS ENTERTAINMENT AND HAS BEEN ON FOR 7 SEASONS DO TAKE IT AWAY NOW.

PS i LOVE SIMON HE IS AWESOME AND I LOVE HIS HONESTY NOT MANY PEOPLE CAN SAY WHAT THEY REALLY THINK. PAULA IS THE OTHER REASON I WATCH THE SHOW I HOPE WE DONT LOSE HER!

The show was great tonight. A good first start. I like they are showing more of the good singers instead of people who can’t sing.

I want to give Kara a hug because she is pretty and I want to be friends yay for Idol!

♥I love american idol♥

No wonder ratings are down. You’ve disappointed some families with children who don’t appreciate some girl prancing around on stage in a bikini. Have some taste people.

Comment by wendy

I think the show stinks and I would hope past viewers will stop watching it!!

judging by the season premiere, it seems like the American Idol crew is spending a lot of time in Kansas City…

did anyone else hear Simon say, “we’ve just been jewed” last night?

Comment by Melissa

I did!!! I’ve been asking around and most people think he said duped, with th the d/j English pronounciation. I’m skeptical – I heard what you did.

Comment by Fran

Yes, I heard Simon’s slur and am appalled! I wrote a letter to the network and they replied: He said “chewed down”. Listen to it again on YouTube–there was only one syllable when Simon told the judges who disagreed with his vote after Dennis Brigham begged for their support, “That is called ‘being jewed.’” The network owes an apology NOT a denial.

Comment by Fran

Yes and it was appalling! He owes an apology for such a hateful slur.

Comment by Fran

Simon’s “jewed” comment was inappropriate and hateful.

Comment by Fran

Yes, and it was appalling! Simon’s slur was hateful and intolerant. He needs to apologize.

Comment by Fran P

Yes, I hear Simon’s slur and it was appalling.

Comment by fran

Yes, and it was appalling! Simon and the network should apologize for the slur.

Comment by Fran P

yes, it was appalling.

Comment by Fran P

yes it was appalling.

Comment by Michael Gordon

Yeah i heard simon say that and I can’t believe the network let him get away with that. I heard that once in a movie named “School Ties” and it was based on a group of guy who did not like the Jews. With all the tension in todays world this comment was not needed. Nor does it look good for Simon to say this! I wont watch a show which has a judge like this! I am over this show!

Comment by coffee

Kara DioGuardi’s cuteness almost makes up for Simon’s horrid haircut
