Behind-the-Scenes at “Night at the Museum 2″
The entertainment world has moved to the nation’s capitol this weekend as “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” takes over town! The film was the first ever shot in the Smithsonian complex in Washington DC, and Friday night the premiere was held at the National Air and Space Museum!
With a background of historical planes behind them, the comedic powerhouse cast of Ben Stiller (Larry Daley), Robin Williams (reprising his role as Theodore Roosevelt), Owen Wilson (back as miniature cowboy Jedediah), Hank Azaria, Ricky Gervais, cast newcomer Amy Adams (who takes flight in the role of Amelia Earhart), writers Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, and more celebrated with us on the carpet!
All were impressed at the unusual set-up to help them introduce their blockbuster sequel.Adams admits she has a fear of flying, but getting into character as the first woman to pilot a plane across the Atlantic may have helped!
Meanwhile, we had fun with Azaria as he launched into his unique Pharoah accent (not a spoiler if you’ve seen the trailers!). It may not be historically and lingually accurate, but as funny as you’d expect from the guy who’s been a voice in the Simpsons for years.
Williams went into detail about how much he enjoys museum going around the world, using his fun accents to paint the picture.
Plus giving us insight on what this improve showdown was like on set, Gervais said his goal was to get Stiller to laugh, while Stiller said he had high hopes of getting a comic compliment from Williams!
Both Gervais and Stiller also talked about their trip to the White House – one of the perks of taking a premiere out of Hollywood and bringing it to Washington, D.C.
Another one is a “behind-scenes” look at the exhibits in the museum that inspired events and characters in the movie … Starting with the Wright Brothers flying machine!
And it’s only the beginning of our adventure (I mean, coverage) for the “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” kick-off weekend!
