Glenn’s View: The Beer Summitt

The White House “beer summit” will take place Thursday evening at a picnic table outside the Oval Office on Thursday, weather permitting.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says that’s when President Barack Obama will share a beer with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates and Police Sergeant James Crowley and discuss the fallout from Gates’ arrest at his Cambridge home earlier this month. It happened after a woman called 911 to report what she thought was a break-in at a home just off Harvard Square.

It turned out to be Gates, who is black, trying to get into his home after returning from a trip to China. Crowley, who is white, arrested Gates for disorderly conduct following an alleged verbal tirade. The charge was eventually dropped.

Obama got involved when he was asked about it at a news conference and responded that police had acted “stupidly.” On Friday, the president went into the White House briefing room and told reporters he wished he had used different language.

Glenn shares his view on “The Beer Summit”!

If anyone sounds racist in this mess it’s Barack

The officer is out numbered and no matter what he says in private Barrack Hussain Obama will lie and spin it. Remember the CEO for Caterpillar? He will be the only nonracist at the table.

Keep up the good work. Who’s paying for Crowley and Gates to go to this meeting, because I don’t want to pay for it.

I cannot believe that media is wasting time talking about what kind of beer will be served at the White House tonight when the “President” will “sit down for a beer” with 2 people involved in an incident that he had no business getting involved in. HE hopes this will be a teachable moment..could he possibly focus on some issues that really need some teachable moments…..How low can he drag down the office of the Presidnet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Marsha Walker

After listening to the President say that the police acted stupidly in the Gates case then a day later say that he wished he had used other language, I decided that the best description for our President is MORON. The definition of a moron is a person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment. I would say that this is an accurate description not only of our President but also of the Democrats in Congress.

We just got thru to AARP on the phone…..CANCELLED OUR MEMBERSHIP AND DEMANDED A REFUND…..AND IT ONLY TOOK TWO HOURS TO DO IT!!!! Can you believe that????? Told them that we did not approve of them signing on with obama and thus we wanted nothing to do with AARP.

We sat and listened to a prerecorded recording about them answering calls in the order they received them. Saw the news cast on Fox and Friends this morning about the man cancelling his card and decided this is SOMETHING THAT WE COULD DO TOO!!! Reading Common Sense right now and also while I was on hold for 2 hours!!!!!!!

WE FEEL GREAT ABOUT IT!!!

About the “BEER SUMMIT”!! Glad the policeman is taking his lawyer and union man!! Obama sucks! Wonder if they will get beer too??????????

Comment by Sam & Judy Hopkins

Aren’t his guests good enough to go inside the whitehouse???? After all its “their” house too!

Do we know or will we find out later just how much this Beer bash will cost us tax payers?

President Obama has shown his true colors regarding race in his illconceived comments regarding the Mass.police officer. He should be ashamed that he did not get all of the facts before making such a statement to the American public. I fear his attitudes will do more harm than good in race relations in the upcoming months. This was not a subject for him to interject himself into when unemployment is up and our country is struggling with economic woes and threats of violence from our enemies. What is he thinking? I would not attend any meeting and dignify the professor if I were Officer Crowley.

I would not sit down for Coolaid with our so-called socialist or Communist President for anything. How can anyone believe anything he says? How can we let this idiot become our President? If the dumbacraps had a brain, they chould have chosen a better person. A fithgrader is smarter than Obamma.

I am thinking of designing an outdoor seating area for my family outside. I want to put a kegorator in the middle of the picnic table and my husband said no. I think it would be a great conversation piece but I’m not sure. What do you think? Is there a teleprompter put in the table the president will be using and it this not the biggest grandstanding you’ve ever seen? I think they should be serving Kool-Aid instead because apparently we all should be drinking Kool-Aid.

Comment by Walter Crumkite

Now that the ‘beer summit’ is on for tonight, I was wondering which side of the picnic table president Obama will sit on! After all, it is a picnic table with seats on 2 sides. This should prove interesting. i think Glenn Beck should be doing the moderation on this one. At least we would get to see the ‘truth and the whole truth, so help us Bob’. I can’t help but to laugh at the way this topic has been ’stupidly’ treated.’ Bob help us! oh one more thing… who’s Bob? haha

Comment by Mary Travers

It’s my opinion, Obama stuck his foot in his mouth and is scrambling to produce some proof he’s either ‘ presidential’ or ‘not a racist’ or both. Too late………………but that’s what happens when you engage your mouth but not your brain.

Comment by flyinglead

Prof. Gates is taking his attorney to the summit. Is Sgt. Crowley bringing his? He would be very wise to do so or skip the summit altogether because Gates is setting up his lawsuit.

Comment by Christine Itzen

Why don’t we all go to “Diversity Camp”, drink some beers, sing kumbaya “soon to be Ombyaya” and puke in the toilet full of the crap they feed us everyday as they tax us out the other end!.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired in Denver.

Comment by Walter Crumkite

Enough of all this. After all, this is about the truth isn’t it? Maybe some of you are afraid of the truth though. Lets give the parties involved lie detector test and get it over. This ‘he said, he said garbage is ruining us as a country. i cant imagine what chuckles the haters of this county are getting out of this ‘gone wild’ politics. Everyone is putting their foot in their mouth on this one. This is walter crumkite, and thats the way it is. I’m having a ‘beck’s beer’ for the grand show.

Please neighbors, call the police if you see what you think is someone trying to break into my house. I promise not to yell when they show up, even if it was me forgetting my key or the door jamming. I want neighbors like that & I hope to show better judgment than a Harvard professor. I plan to thank both the police and my neighbors. I will be highly surprised should the president opt to comment.

Comment by Linda Milkie

I hope to have neighbors observant and vigilant enough to report someone they think could be trying to be breaking into my house. I promise not to rant at any police officer reporting, regardless what race, even if it was me trying to get into my jammed door. I will personally thank both neighbors & police officers and will be greatly surprised by any comments from the country’s president on such a mundane matter while the country is faced w/grave terrorist threats, economic woes, immigrant issues, healthcare problems, etc. I expect him to focus on his real job.

Nobody said anything “racist” until Gates opened his mouth. HE is the racist. Why is it that some people think only white people can be racist? It seems to me like it’s mostly the other way around these days. White people have bent over backwards to accommodate every color in the rainbow, and still the first thing a black person says when something doesn’t go well is “race”. Grow up.

Comment by Nancy

Why all the hype about the beer-fest at the White House? Nothing more interesting to report about?
Come on…….

Comment by Suzanne

Why not a doughnut summit? Beer, after all . . . but hey, it’s a cop, right? Doesn’t Ringmaster Obama have better things to do, let’s say, perhaps on a Presidential level? Why is he sticking his nose into local matters and then making ridiculous comments about “police acting stupidly” when he doesn’t know the facts. He owes Sergeant Crowley and the entire Cambridge police force an apology, but gee, I doubt it’ll happen.

Comment by Jeannie

He may be America’s President, but he’s not my President. Didn’t watch the inauguration, and I turn him off anytime he speaks. It’s just more lies.

Commissioner…..
WERE YOU INVITED TOO FOR THE BEER DATE WITH THE PRESIDENT? MAYBE NOT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A NEGATIVE REACTION AGAINST THE PRESIDENT’S REMARK.
LUCKY FOR CROWLEY YOUR SUBORDINATE, IN SPITE OF HIS STUPIDITY, HE GETS TO MEET THE PRESIDENT, HAVE A BEER WITH HIM AND SEE THE WHITE HOUSE. YOU NEED TO DO MORE STUPID THINGS TO GET INVITED TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND MEET THE PRESIDENT.

Comment by Ted Roberts

What if President BooBoo acts “stupidy” before the facts when it comes to a major decision like pressing the BIG Button. Then afterwards invite whats left of the country he nuked over for a beer. Scary thought. This is what happens when you get a non-American for President.

Comment by JB

Is he going to give beer to all the nation?
I feel President Obama, owes the nation an apology! When he said something about this arrest, it showed how racist he is. It made me feel bad we voted someone like that into office.

I feel with our young people some with such addictive manner’s we should not encourage drinking any more than smoking . I would have turned down the offer to go to the white house in the first place.
Drinking kills so many people every year it is hard to get my head around that man pushing it.Who cares if he drinks and smokes ? I could care less,is pot next? Lets’all get a little high here and things wont look so bad! Give me a break!
God I also miss the USA We once upon a time had a goverment we could run to and be proud of! We now run from it and hang our head in shame.
I am a 68 year old caregiver and see real pain and day to day struggles of the very ill, my beloved husband is one of those people I care for.
I wish that man that is at the helm of our country would spend one day in his shoe as he only has one leg left. You would see a new version on health care. Then maybe not, Nancy may poo poo it as just anouther unpleasent event. He needs to go get his balls out of Nancy;s purse and run this country like a man. Big order I know ! Keep up the good work Glenn as you are a true person with good values.
Thank you

Surely we don’t think that el presidente is less than sincere with his folksy, “Hey I’m one of you” act, do we? Do we really buy into the notion that Obama thrusting himself into this situation is anything other than political grandstanding? He couldn’t even do that right.

I happen to be a police officer, and from what I have been able to glean from all of the hubbub mixed in with true information, Ofc. Crowley did what any reasonable officer would have done. I would have done the same thing! The totality of the circumstances required a certain response from the responding officers. We are not mind readers, and we certainly cannot go on verbalization alone. And I would be the last one to allow a citizen to call me everything but a child of god, in the middle of a very murky situation. Kudos to Ofc. Crowley!

All of the kooks that are crying “race hatred”, are the main reason that there is still any kind of racial problem. When justification for ones actions, or attempted justification for ones situation falls back to, “It’s because I’m (insert minority of choice here).”, I lose any respect for that person. Individual merit depends upon personal integrity and character.

The big picture here is not “race relations”. Or rather, not in the manner that Professor Gates and Pres. Obama would have you believe. It big picture here is how society allows a person to cover up their mistakes by claiming discrimination. Personal responsibility for ones actions is the key.

Comment by Sarah S

I guess the message we are sending our young people is that if you have a conflict with someone, alcohol will help solve the problem. Why couldn’t he have had them over for a nice dinner? Why did it have to be centered around “having a beer?” I think most of us know that more often than not in this country alcohol creates more problems than help to solve them. I probably sound like a party pooper. I just don’t think this president thinks through his words or actions very well.

This is in response to advising us all to get on our knees and ask for wisdom and help. This is the wisest comment I have ever heard on a News Channel. Thank You Glen.
My husband is one of your biggest fans and if he is not home, I am to tape the show. Keep up the good work.

Comment by Roy Hoggard

Glenn,

I really appreciate the coverage you give to the important issues that no one else wants to talk about. As for the beer summit…whatever! Too bad the Sgt. couldn’t arrest the two real criminals at the table! I am just glad that BHO took a break from destroying our country long enough to stick his nose in something that was none of his business nor does he have the right or authority to resolve. Do me a favor Glenn, if I ever break the law and get arrested, please go ask the Emperor how he feels about it. That way I might have my charges dropped for absolutely no reason. Thanks for looking out.

If the moron that is trying to destroy our home, OBAMA Binladen, is looking for more revineu, How do we tell him to get it from all the morona that need the tatoos. That seems like a much better way than taxing people for drinking sodas, beers, and cigarettes, fuel, electricity.Etc
