It infuriates me to see people (celebrities and otherwise) coming out in support of Roman Polanski. He is an admitted child molestor, yet people are comparing him to someone who perhaps shoplifted an apple in the grocery store 32 years ago. They continue in their attempts to trivialize the crime and its impact. Their comments rage from “it’s a long time ago”, “the victim feels bad for him”, and incredulously “well…it wasn’t REALLY child rape”.

By their rationalization, we can also then concede that Jacee Dugard’s molestor should not be prosecuted. After all, “it was so long ago” (Jacee was 11 when it happened), “she feels bad” (for the Garridos, as she tragically was forced to bond with them to survive), and Gee…Jacee was ONLY 2 years younger than Roman Polanski’s victim when she was raped, so perhaps it “wasn’t REALLY child rape”….

So what’s the big deal, right?

The laws in this country are there to protect our children, not the molesters and their supporters, not the forgiving victim (ask the woman who was nearly killed by her partner and yet begged that he not be arrested. Or the child who is taken out of the home for their own protection after being abused, yet does not want the abuser to go to jail and lead to the break-up of the family).

It doesn’t matter how long ago the crime occured, nor the feelings of the accuser.
Polanski should serve every day in jail that he owes, and more for each day of the 32 years that he spent on the run evading prosecution.

Of course, I don’t know Kate Gosselin, but if I had experienced what she’s been going through, I think I might be cold, too.

I agree with Nicole, I hope they hang the guy for the rape of the 13 year old. I am sick and tired of hearing about our wealthy movie stars and congressmen, getting away with Rape, murder, tax evasion, dope, drugs, and drunk driving. They all have good attorneys to keep them out of jail. They should have to pay for the crime, no matter how many years ago they did it.

Ok so im thinking 2 main things on this story….first that if polanski would have “manned up” back when he was charged, this matter would have been long since forgotten.Since he decided to flee back in the seventies he should be tried by todays standards!The second comment i have is with reguards to the hollywood cronies who actually went public in polanskis defense. This is just mind boggling.What the hell is wrong with people such as Debra Winger?You expect people to forget about this whole thing and leave polanski alone?What thoughts do you cronies have on the victim?This was the rape of a child!When these people are brought to justice i usually ask myself how many other victims are out there?You can bet this isnt polanskis only victim over the years.That would be my bet.I would encourage any and all victims of this pervert to come forward so the world can see just how sick this jerk really is.I guess 1 victim isnt enough to convince hollywood eliteist.Thanks for giving me a chance to share my opinion and God bless!

Kim, maybe you should watch a repeat of Jon,Kate plus eight. There were shows the last season where she just ranted about and to Jon. Because he didn’t use a coupon, I swear, she went on for about 10 minutes on it and smiled the while time to the camera. I stopped watching after that show. How can you belittle your spouse while smiling and playing up to the camera? She got worse each season, till I could not take it any more. I refuse to watch any show they are on now. My tiny protest.
I hope the show goes away for the sake of the kids. You know parents talk, kids talk and those twins in school are getting an earful. Such a shame.

I don’t care about John & Kate! I don’t care about their money problems!
I just want to know where is the kids money. There should have been a trust fund set up for them. If there is not a trust fund for the kids, then both of the parents are thieves.
