American Idol Takes on Nashville
Danny Gokey finished in the Top 3 at American Idol in May. He wrapped the Idol tour in September, and moved to Nashville the next day! Now, he’s hard at work on his first album, to be released next year. I caught up with him at Sony’s Nashville headquarters today. Gokey has a gospel background but decided to pursue country when Idol guest mentor Randy Travis told him, “I think you’d be great in the genre. The fans would love you.” So far, the feeling is mutual. Gokey says he loves Nashville because, “It’s like one big family here.” A year ago, he lived in Wisconsin and worked as a church musical director. Now he’s attending tonight’s CMA awards and says he’s not quite used to the spotlight. He says he still gets nervous at big red carpet events, but “I think that’s a good thing, it keeps me on my game.” Tonight I’ll be on my game, working the CMA red carpet and keeping an eye out for Gokey, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift and all of country’s biggest stars!

Taylor is a nice looking little girl, but she can’t sing. Can’t believe the talent they passed up to give the award to her.
Taylor can’t sing live. She is nothing but a studio artist where they can fix her voice. She is a nice little girl but does not have the talent to get all these awards. Guess it was a pity party for her because of Kayne West. I don’t think he can sing either.
I was SOOOOO disappointed in the CMA awards show….what has happened to country music???? Taylor Swift CANNOT SING….AND throwing that chair off the highrise…was deplorable and disrespectful!!!! I am so sick of these kids…tossing their hair about LIKE they’re on a acid high…isn’t music….certainly doesn’t represent country music. Giving Taylor Swift The Entertainer of the Year award was a joke!!! It had to be rigged.
Did she even headline a big show? She wasn’t even a very good opening act.
She is a pop singer who is popular with young girls. My 8 year old grandaughter loves her.
COUNTRY Entertainer of the Year? Give me a break. She should not even have been
nominated in that catagory,let alone beat out Kenney and George. I loved the show up
to the end…but that ruined it! Also,why did she get to perform twice? It was rigged!!!!
I was really disappointed in the CMA awards show. I thought I was watching the down under Hollywood drug scene. I thought Carrie Underwood dress for her one song was so trashy and another is Reba in her tight black outfit with the HighBoots. What happen to the country look?
What happen to the true Country Music? We did get to hear a few good country songs but for the most part it was the worst show I have ever seen.
Oh how country music has fallen! Taylor Swift is not a country singer, or even a good singer. Please call that garbage something else!
Danny was my favourite on “AI” from the moment I saw him audition. Yes, there were some others I liked, but there was just something about Danny. I had been out of the room for a moment & missed his story that preceded his audition. When I learned it afterward, I was stunned. As I kept up with Danny throughout the season, I was inspired by his drive & determination as were many across the country. I’m glad he went as far as he did in the competition, and I’m thrilled about his continued success! “It’s Only” is wonderful, even if it does take more than one listen to really “sink in” in ya.
Danny will be up for Best New Artist next year at The CMAs — I believe it! =)
BTW, folks, can we stay on topic here? This is an article about Danny Gokey, not Taylor Swift. Just a suggestion…
CMA’s….what a joke. Taylor Swift couldn’t sing her way out of a paper bag. She only wines in a monotone voice. It sickens me to think that she would be put in the same category as George and Kenny. Country music has gone to the dogs. She will never last. What a joke, what a joke.
