Federal safety investigators descended upon what’s billed as The Happiest Place On Earth, after 3 employees died on the job since early July.  Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are exploring whether the three separate accidents are exactly that—unrelated accidents—or whether the three on-the-job fatalities share a common thread involving federal safety violations.

The most recent death involved 30 year old Anislav Varbanov, who joined the cast of Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular just one week prior.  Investigators say he died after breaking his neck performing a routine tumble, jumping over another performer, then tucking and rolling into a landing.  Before that, an actor in the Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial at Magic Kingdome died after hitting a wall.  His friend told reporters that the actor claimed he’d slipped on a slippery floor.  And on July 5^th, a monorail driver died after a collision involving another train.

Disney World’s been investigated by OSHA 17 times since 2007.  Some investigations concluded Disney had been in violation;  others were dismissed.  In the 5 years before 2007, OSHA launched five investigations into Disney.

A Disney spokeswoman tells FOX that the only commonality is that all three fatalities involved Disney employees, adding that 60,000 cast members perform at Disney World on any given day, and when you add tourists, the expansive Disney World property holds a population the same size as Reno, Nevada.

OSHA investigations typically take about 6 months to conclude.

For the 2^nd straight day, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular stayed closed to tourists, but it is scheduled to re-open Thursday.

As we prepare to celebrate Easter — whether it’s attending an early mass on Sunday morning, taking children to an Easter egg hunt in the park, or even attending the Easter parade — this year we have a lot to be thankful for.

A sense of purpose and fulfillment can be brought to each of our lives through the gift of volunteering. I’ve been experiencing this gift through my work at the Bowery Mission. The level of commitment and giving is quite an investment of one’s time. With the state of our economy, pinching every penny we have, we’re also sharing more than we ever have — and it’s bringing our country closer together.

Though wars may rage on overseas and even in our own neighborhoods, we find our sense of community through the simple acts of service. I’m seeing more and more volunteers in my age bracket – late 20’s and early 30’s – losing their jobs and making the decision to serve those who have absolutely nothing. Instead of mourning the loss of their jobs, they do just the opposite. They stay connected and even learn new job skills. This month showed the highest rate of unemployment – 8.5% in March.

The Bowery Mission, over its 130 year history, has not only sheltered the men and women on these city streets of New York, but it has transformed lives. I love seeing the smiling faces of our volunteers come through the famous Red Doors of The Bowery Mission; they come with a sense of purpose — the feeling that “I’m here for a reason”; they come with hands willing to give; they come with open hearts ready to share. They put their problems aside for the moment to give to the men, women and children who come to be fed, find community and see a smiling face. We have seen a 40 percent increase in our volunteer involvement due in part to our community of young Americans who have followed the call to service. Will you join them??

The Census Bureau seems like a benign enough operation, mandated by the Constitution to physically count the residents of the United States every 10 years. The next census, a massive logistical undertaking, begins next year.

So, why should we care about the Obama administration’s quiet disclosure late last week that the Census Bureau, which has long been a part of the Commerce Department, will now be report directly to the staff of the White House?

1.) The results of the census determine the decennial redrawing of Congressional districts. In other words, the census has tremendous political significance. Political parties are always eager to have a hand in redrawing districts so that they can maximize their own party’s clout while minimizing the opposition, often through gerrymandering.

2.) The census determines the composition of the electoral college, which of course chooses the president. If one party were to control the census, it could arguably try to perpetuate its own hold on political power.

3.) The results of the census are enormously important in another way – the allocation of federal funds. Theoretically, a political party could disproportionately steer federal funding to areas dominated by their own members through a skewing of census numbers. (A cynic might liken this to buying votes.)

4.) How, exactly, can census numbers be skewed? After all, a physical count is a physical count, right? Well, not exactly. Democrats have long advocated using mathematical estimates, a practice known as “sampling,” to count urban residents and immigrants. Republicans say the Constitution requires a physical head count, which entails going door-to-door.

5.) How much do such counting rules really matter? Well, just ask Utah Republicans, who recently lost out on a bid for a fourth congressional seat in the nation’s most conservative state. The GOP took the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, but fell short by a few hundred votes because the Census Bureau wouldn’t count Mormon missionaries from Utah serving temporarily overseas.

6.) Remember that the White House staff is headed by Rahm Emamuel, a product of the Chicago political machine who is viewed by critics as a bare-knuckled partisan brawler. Significantly, Emanuel once ran the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, an organization dedicated, obviously, to expanding Democrats’ dominance of the electoral college.

7.) “The political land grab is stunning,” Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, tells the Salt Lake Tribune. The census “is not intended to be political in any way shape or form. … We’re not even 15 days into this administration and they’re already working on the next campaign.”

8.) Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah, adds that neither the Constitution nor Congress has delegated census power to the White House chief of staff. “It would politicize the process much more than it needs to be, and it shouldn’t happen,” Bishop said. “It takes something that is supposedly apolitical like the census, and gives it to a guy who is infamously political.”

9.) Interestingly, Fox is the only TV news organization to even mention this controversy. Ask yourselves this question: If, eight years ago, newly minted President George W. Bush had ordered the Census Bureau to report directly to the White House, would the MSN have done stories raising alarm bells about Karl Rove getting control of an operation that is supposed to be insulated from politics?

10.) The change was announced just days after Obama named Republican Sen. Judd Gregg to be his Commerce Secretary. Gregg has long opposed “sampling” by the census and has voted against funding increases for the bureau. Some conservatives now wonder: Should Gregg withdraw his name from consideration to protest the removal of the Census Bureau from Commerce?

In a report released Monday afternoon by the Associated Press, two presidential transition team advisers say President-elect Barack Obama is preparing an executive order to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sources say the order could be issued as soon as Jan. 20, Obama’s first day in office.

The prison will most likely not close any time soon, however, as nearly 250 Al-Qaeda and Taliban suspects and potential witnesses still occupy the facility. Still, the order would begin action on finding alternate facilities for the jailed detainees.

President Bush issued a statement Monday morning calling for an end to the fighting between Israel and Hamas as the Bush administration said it’s continuing to monitor events in the Middle East.

“In order for the violence to stop, Hamas must stop firing rockets into Israel and agree to respect a sustainable and durable cease-fire. That is the objective to which all parties need to be working. That is what the United States is working towards,” National Security Council Spokesman Gordon Johndroe said in Crawford, Texas.

Fighting began earlier this month when terrorist group Hamas started sending rockets into the Gaza Strip after canceling its participation in a cease-fire. Israel responded by launching its own air offensive over this past weekend, targeting suspected terror sites, including security outposts and the Islamic University.

More than 300 Palestinians and two Israelis have died as a result of the violence thus far, and numbers will surely rise as rocket-fire continues.

Whenever any official gets up to talk into a mic about the investigation of Continental flight 1404 that veered off the runway Saturday evening in Denver, they usually don’t walk away without mentioning what a “miracle” it was that all 115 people on board survived.

When you consider that half the emergency exits were blocked by the fire that had engulfed the entire right side of the Boeing 737-500, it is remarkable that everyone not only got out, but that of the 38 people who went to the hospital with injuries, five remain, one in serious condition, at the time of this writing.

The National Transportation Safety Board’s Robert Sumwalt says the investigation is still underway as to what happened when the crew decided to abort the takeoff on Saturday night. Instead of slowly coming to a stop, the aircraft veered to the left and careened more than 2,000 feet across grass and snow before landing in a 40 foot ravine.

In an update, Sumwalt said the flight data and cockpit voice recorders were located and in tact. What’s more, initial analysis of the “black boxes” indicates that investigators in Washington, D.C. will be able to garner audible conversation from whatever was recorded during the last moments of that flight.

Tonight, the NTSB says it hopes to interview the captain of flight 1404. Sumwalt told reporters that first inspectors have to wait for he or she to be ready physically, mentally and emotionally before giving a debrief on what happened on runway 34 Right.

We know that snow and rain weren’t factors in this incident. But the 31 mph winds blowing out at Denver International Airport are being reviewed. The Federal Aviation Administration’s Ian Gregor tells me that no pilot that night at DIA made the decision against departing due to wind prior to the Continental incident. Gregor was quick to point out that this doesn’t necessarily mean there wasn’t a wind problem that night at the nations fifth busiest airport.

Of the 115 people on board, 3 were babies. Firefighters say despite the fact that a major airliner was lying in a ravine, half on fire, a cracked fuselage and an engine separated from the main body, things were relatively calm. Some just called it a miracle.

Nothing has come quick or easy in the case against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. An impeachment inquiry against Blagojevich stalled briefly Wednesday morning, as prosecutors awaited the arrival of the governor’s attorney. The special meeting of the Illinois House committee gathered to review the criminal case against the governor, and no witnesses were called.

Blagojevich told reporters that he may be speaking out on the scandal sometime in the next couple of days, saying that he “can’t wait to begin to tell my side of the story and to address you guys and, most importantly, the people of Illinois. That’s who I’m dying to talk to,” he said. “There’s a time and place for everything. That day will soon be here and you might know more about that today, maybe no later than tomorrow.”

So far, Gov. Blagojevich has ignored any calls for his resignation, including that from President-elect Barack Obama.

FOX News has been bringing you EXCLUSIVE coverage all day on the ‘political crime spree’ reportedly wrought by Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff John Harris were arrested in Chicago on Tuesday morning under accusations of taking part in a ‘political corruption crime spree’. The arrests came after prosecutors accused the Governor of trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

During a news conference focused on announcing the charges against Blagojevich, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said the accusations come on what is now a “sad day for government” and a “very sad day for Illinois government.”

The arrests followed a three-year probe into the governor’s administration. The criminal complaint by the FBI says each man was arrested on two charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery. Of the charges, Fitzgerald said the “breadth of corruption is staggering.”

Blagojevich appeared in court but was released on $4,500 signature bond Tuesday afternoon.

It’s been a long 13 years for the Goldman family since their son, Ron, was murdered alongside Nicole Brown Simpson, OJ Simpson’s ex-wife. Although Simpson was cleared in the bouble murder, the Goldmans have maintained their belief in his  guilt. Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, sat alongside daughter Kim in a Las Vegas courtroom on Friday as Simpson awaited  sentencing for an Oct. 3 conviction on the charges of kidnapping and armed robbery.

In the end, Simpson was sentenced to 9 to 33 years in prison despite an emotional 5-minute plea before the judge. So, this leads us to our question for you, the viewers: What do you think? Did Simpson get what he deserved, or was his punishment too severe? Respond below, and tell us your thoughts!

The heads of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler have asked for $34 billion in loans in order to remain afloat through the current financial crisis. Today’s debates in the Capitol follow this morning’s release of a Labor Department report showing a November net loss of 533,000 jobs — the highest loss in 34 years.
