“HONOR KILLING”, AN ANCIENT MUSLIM TRADITION, WHEN A MALE FAMILY MEMBER KILLS A FEMALE RELATIVE, FOR TARNISHING THE FAMILY IMAGE.
Could it have happened again? We have unfortunately reported on several honor killings over the years, and most recently about Aqua Pervez, a 16 year old girl allegedly killed by her Muslim father in Canada over not wearing her hijab to school.
New Year’s Day, two beautiful Egyptian-American teenage girls were found shot to death in their father’s taxi cab in Irving, Texas. 17-year-old Sarah Yaser Said and her 18-year-old sister Amina were reportedly in trouble with their father for wearing Western clothing, and for dating boys.
Their beautiful green and brown eyes and infectious smiles show what their friends and family call their love of life, and big plans for a great future. Both had reportedly wanted to become doctors, Amina, the oldest, had just received a $25,000 scholarship in the mail, just days after she was murdered.
