So, this is the weekly column where I post a cool, affordable gadget that you can find in stores or online. At the same time, you can ask questions about gadgets, camera’s, computers, etc… and I will do my best to answer those questions and find out any information. You can also suggest products to review in the coming weeks. This time I have decided to focus on the product SPOT Satellite Messenger. SPOT stands for ‘Satellite Personal Tracker’. According to the website, since it utilizes 100% satellite technology, SPOT works around the world - even where cell phones don’t, delivering messages using GPS coordinates and two satellites. I got the chance to play around with one, but haven’t yet used it in the field or on the road. The unit costs about $169 and does not include a small satellite subscription fee. OK…whether you like gadgets and hi-tech stuff, or not, what happens at the Consumer Electronics Show almost always ends up in your local store. CD’s were announced there, blue-ray and blue-tooth, it’s all there. The sheer magnitude and size of this convention is hard to explain. The entire massive Las Vegas Convention Center, the Sands, Hilton and Venetian, among others, are filled just with this show. People come from all walks of life and all over the world. I met a number of Israeli’s, eastern European’s and a ton of people from Asia. I have all sorts of great video and fun stuff which I will post over the course of the next few weeks, but in the meantime, here is a 3 minute highlight of the daily internet live show on foxnews.com                              

The Death Penalty story really hit a note with many FOX News people. We broke all blog records for one day views as nearly 120,000 people read the blog. Add that to the 375,000 or so who read it initially. Thanks for the support and your views on the topic.

MEANTIME …. As some of you know, I am a gadget guy. I love the latest and greatest and I love to mess with Greta since she and a few others here at FOX News have a gadget buying problem. I fly out early on Tuesday and spend the day at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. By 10pm Tuesday night, I will be back in LA, with the big San Diego story coming to you live on Thursday. More on that the day before.

As for the CES, I WILL bring my computer and cameras and WILL blog and post stuff as I get the chance. Also, I’ll be live on foxnews.com at noon pacific and 3:00pm eastern, as Mike Straka does his live internet broadcast from the world’s largest gadget show.
