UPDATE — 5:02 — On site at the center median at Tropicana Avenue in Las Vegas. Working with our affiliate Fox 5.

3:20 – On the ground in Vegas and blackberry goes crazy when I turn it on. Also, I talk with my very close friend Rian who is an engineer at station 11. Their station is first to respond and he was on the 28th floor where the firefighters staged their operations. After a swift run with my carry on, I am now in a executive car. The taxi line was crazy and the executive driver said he’d only charge me ten bucks more….gotta love that.

3:46 — I’m literally on my way to the Las Vegas fire.My best friend is an engineer for the fire station right down the street. He is on scene fighting the fire now and I’ll see him when I arrive.I know from speaking to him in the past, they have a specific plan that is refined numerous times during the year — they are prepared for this type of thing.

2:36 – Boarding the plane now and have my little hand held video camera charged and ready. I know the route into Vegas since we’ve been there so much in recent months, unless air traffic has been changed, we should get a good view as we come in on final approach.

2:20 — U.S. Air takes off 20 mins late. This makes things tough for making my 4:00pm pacific live.
